Step-by-step instructions for installing interior doors

Directly installing interior doors with your own hands is done in six steps:

Assembling the box.
Installation of hinges.
Door leaf canopy.

Assembling the box

When studying which pipes are better for water supply and easier to install, you have to consider a lot of metal and plastic options... It is much easier with door blocks for interiors. Almost all of them are made from lumber. Structures made of plastic or aluminum in private houses are extremely rare. As a result, you only have to work with wood when installing interior doors, which is not so difficult.

Types of door frames

There are two ways to assemble a wooden door frame:

cutting the corners of the upper crossbar and vertical posts at 45 degrees;
butt joint of crossbeams and uprights without corner cutoffs.

The first option looks more elegant. However, the second is easier to cut on its own. Only with it, you need to be very careful when cutting the side on the upper crossbar so that the vertical bars stand evenly and without gaps. At the same time, it is recommended to choose a method for assembling the external frame of an interior door depending on the interior design.

So that the canvas then does not sit too tightly in the box, when cutting the crossbeam, add 3 mm additionally to the left and right. Fastening of horizontal and vertical parts is carried out in the corners from above with self-tapping screws to the end of the racks from the outside. And so that when these screws are screwed in, the box bars do not crack, you must first drill into the holes with a thin drill (a millimeter thinner than the fasteners).

In this case, the supporting post, where the hinges will be, should not be rigidly pulled to the end at this stage of the door installation. It should only be lightly fixed in place.

The hinges are first hung on the canvas with a top and bottom indent of 200–250 mm. Hinges at interior doors are overhead ("butterflies") and secret. The first ones are enough to attach to the end with the inner small part and fasten with self-tapping screws. And for the second, you will have to pre-cut the grooves.

Next, the canvas is inserted into a box laid on the floor. And the marking of the attachment points of the hinges on the racks is made. But first, between the end of the canvas and the details of the box, it is necessary to insert pieces of wood (pieces of fiberboard) with a thickness of 3 mm, so that there will then be gaps.

Then, the carrier stand, which is not fully tightened to the end, is unscrewed from the crossbar and the hinges are screwed to it. And then it is put in place and finally fixed with self-tapping screws.

Door leaf installation

After an almost completely assembled interior door should be placed in the opening and adjusted vertically and horizontally using a level. To fix the block in the right position wedges and pieces of wood are used.

Sealing slots, holes and installing an extension

Between the outer side of the block and the end of the wall, it is allowed to leave a gap of 0.5 to 3 cm thick. But if the house is wooden, then this gap should be at least 1.5 cm in case of shrinkage of the log house.

Completion options for interior doors

The box is fastened anchor bolts, which are located under the hinges and the lock plate. To do this, first in upright racks holes are drilled on both sides to the wall. Then the block is removed and drilled by itself interior partition... If you work with a drill without cleaning the box, then there is a serious risk of accidentally damaging its decorative coating.

You can also fix the box with metal hangers. They are first screwed to the racks, and then, after bending onto the wall, they are attracted to it with self-tapping dowels.

If the wall is thick, then you will need to put additional elements (false slopes, additional timber). The box has a so-called coverage area. This is an internal space and needs to be decorated. Addons are made from solid wood, fiberboard or MDF. After cutting to the required dimensions, they just need to be attached to the box and screwed to it with long self-tapping screws. Then, along the entire perimeter of the opening, spacer wedges and a spacer in the middle are also placed under them.

Then all that remains is to spray the polyurethane foam and leave the unit closed for a while. It is recommended to continue installing the interior door the next day. The foamed adhesive must completely cure and fix the door frame.

Installation of a threshold and platbands

The threshold and platbands are installed after fixing the box with anchors and polyurethane foam. The first appears to be metal bar with holes for self-tapping dowels. It is required to cut it to the width of the opening, drill holes in the floor and "nail down".

Platbands for interior doors are in the form:

semicircular;
flat;
teardrop-shaped;
curly.

They are fastened with a lock connection ("thorn-groove"), nails or glue. Trimming them in the upper corners of the door is done at 45 or 90 degrees. In this case, the joints of the crossbar and vertical strips should be made as tight as possible. The slightest irregularities and mistakes during sawing will then be in plain sight.

Installation of interior door fittings

At the end of the installation, locking fittings are installed. Moreover, usually for interior doors, a two-in-one mortise product (handle + lock) is chosen. Such a device can be of a rotary or push type. But in both cases, the principle of work is the same.

The marking of the canvas is made at a height of about one meter from the floor.
