Isospan windproof membrane technical characteristics. Technical characteristics of the isospan film. Laminate and parquet floors

Is the upcoming choice of waterproofing materials difficult? I thought about this before, until I came across the Izospan A wind and moisture protection membrane. Having gained experience in this matter, I am ready to talk about its purpose, basic properties, and the nuances of installation.

Material features

General information

Izospan A is a single-layer vapor-permeable membrane from the well-known eponymous Russian manufacturer... Its main task is to protect insulation or just walls from moisture and wind penetration. Therefore, it is mounted with outside before facing work.

The principle of operation of the membrane in terms of removing moisture to the outside is as follows:

  • Moisture collection. One side of the membrane has a rough surface. Thanks to this, it collects steam emanating from the room;

  • Moisture removal. Moisture accumulated on the surface seeps out through microperforation;
  • Removing moisture. On the back side, moisture evaporates or rolls down.

From this diagram, it becomes clear which side to lay the membrane on - rough inside (to the insulation or the room). Be aware that improper placement of the film can make the film less efficient.

If all of the above is summed up, then this Izospan film performs the following functions:

  • Protection of walls from the wind;
  • Protection against atmospheric moisture;
  • Removal of moisture from the room;
  • Improving the insulating qualities of the insulation used.

Application area

Izospan a can be used in the following cases:

  • When installing ventilated facades;
  • When insulating roofs;
  • When insulating frame walls;
  • When insulating walls from the inside.

To achieve the greatest effect, Izospan vapor barrier b should be used together with windscreen in most cases. Unlike a diffuse membrane, a vapor barrier is not perforated, i.e. completely sealed.

Therefore, Izospan b is always mounted on the inside. Thus, the film protects the insulation and the structure from moisture penetration from the room.

After the walls are protected with Izospan insulation, they completely stop breathing. Therefore, such housing needs effective ventilation... Otherwise, the level of humidity in the premises will increase, which will lead to many negative consequences.

Performance properties

The material in question has both pluses and minuses, which must be taken into account when buying wind and moisture protection.

Advantages:

  • Low cost. The price of a roll of membrane is on average 1600-1700 rubles. This is the cheapest Izospan model among vapor-permeable membranes;
  • High vapor permeability. The film "breathes" perfectly.

Flaws:

  • Low moisture resistance. If water accumulates on the surface of the film, it can flow inside;

  • Limited scope. The membrane in question does not apply to roofing materials, its main purpose is to protect the walls from moisture. For roofing, it is better to use a multilayer membrane such as Izospan D.

True, the manufacturer allows the use of Izospan A on roofs with a slope greater than 35 degrees. The only thing is that it is not recommended to use it in conjunction with metal roofs(corrugated board, metal tiles, etc.), regardless of the angle of inclination.

This film is also not suitable for the floor. For waterproofing ceilings and floors, Izospan B should be used.

Izospan A burns well. However, in Lately a modification of this material appeared with the prefix OZD, which means "fire retardant action". Such a membrane can protect the surface not only from moisture, but also from fire.

Specifications

The vapor-permeable membrane has the following technical characteristics:

Installation technology

Frame-type wall insulation

First of all, we will consider how to do the installation of the film with your own hands on frame walls. This procedure can be broken down into several steps:

So, the work is done as follows:

Illustrations Description of actions

Materials. To isolate the frame wall, in addition to the Izospan materials, which I described above, you will also need:
  • Self-adhesive butyl rubber tape. You can use the SL tape from Izospan or an analogue from other manufacturers;
  • Wooden slats section 30x40 mm.

In addition, to fix the film, you will need construction stapler.

These materials are used not only for the insulation of frame walls, but also in all other cases. Therefore, I will not list them further.

Vapor barrier installation:
  • Stick butyl rubber tape on the racks from the inside of the walls;
  • Roll the roll across the uprights and glue it with the glued double-sided tape. During the installation process, make sure that waves and folds are not formed.

Do the work from the bottom up.

  • When gluing the second sheet, an overlap of at least 150 mm must be ensured;
  • Glue the junction of the canvases with adhesive tape;
  • Additionally secure the vapor barrier with a stapler.

The vapor barrier film must be positioned with the rough side towards the room.

Installation of a windproof film. After laying the insulation in the space of the frame, a wind and moisture protection film is attached to the walls according to the same principle as the vapor barrier.

As I said above, the membrane is mounted smooth side out.

The edge of the film must ensure the drainage of moisture from the walls to the drainage drainage of the basement. Therefore, from below, it should have a slight curl at low tide.

Installation of a counter-lattice. A counter-lattice must be fixed on top of the film. Depending on the type facing material, the slats can be installed both vertically and horizontally.

In the same way, you need to install the slats on the inside of the walls.

During the installation of the rails, make sure that they are all located in the same vertical plane. It depends on how smooth the walls turn out to be.

Insulation of a ventilated facade is carried out in the same way, therefore we will not consider this procedure separately.

Membrane installation for internal wall insulation

Insulation process of insulation when internal insulation walls has some of its own nuances. The main one is the need to arrange a ventilation gap between the wall and the membrane. It allows moisture to evaporate, allowing the walls to dry out.

The instructions for performing this procedure look like this:

Illustrations Description of actions

Installation of rails. The slats must be fixed to the wall in a horizontal position with a step of 2 cm horizontally and 50 cm vertically.

Membrane assembly. Attach the membrane to the rails. To form a ventilated gap between the film and the wall, be sure to place the last stretch.

In order for the ventilation gap to work, it is necessary to make through holes in the wall below and under the canopy. The holes can be insulated with mineral wool and closed with a net.

Installation of vapor barrier. After installation vertical posts and wall insulation, a vapor barrier is attached to the inside of the insulation in the same way as on frame walls.

Installation of rails. To ensure a ventilation gap between finishing material and a vapor barrier must be fixed to the frame of the rail.

Installation of the membrane on the roof

The moisture-proof membrane is mounted on the roof before laying the roofing material. This work is carried out in the following sequence:

Illustrations Description of actions

Membrane assembly:
  • On the rafters (across rafter legs) the membrane spreads in stripes from bottom to top;
  • As in previous cases, the film is fixed with a stapler;
  • On top of the film on the logs, you need to stick butyl rubber tape. In addition, you need to glue the joints of the canvases.

Installation of a counter-lattice. Slats are attached along the lag, as shown in the photo, which provide a ventilation gap between the membrane and the roofing material.

Installation of the lathing. Planks are attached across the rails, on which the roofing is subsequently laid.

Installation of vapor barrier film. To protect the insulated roof from moisture from the inside, Izospan b is attached to the rafters from the side of the room according to the scheme described above.

This completes the roof insulation.

Conclusion

So we figured out what the Izospan A membrane is, in what cases and how it is used. Additionally, watch the video in this article. If at some point you have questions, leave them in the comments, and I will be happy to answer you.

Any building under construction now, or already built, industrial or residential, is literally surrounded by heat-insulating materials on all sides. They create comfort in the room, save heat, reduce the influence of atmospheric phenomena such as rain, snow, wind, etc.

But, as it turned out, this reliable thermal insulation layer, which protects buildings, itself requires protection from both moisture and wind. And it serves as such a protection modern material, one hundred percent polypropylene, which is called isospan A, B, C, D, the instructions for use for which we will consider.

Creating a barrier for an existing barrier is the main purpose of Isospan. Let's look at the general technical characteristics of the new Izospan heat insulator, see photos and videos, talk about its types and installation methods different types material, and which side to put it to the insulation.

Izospan: technical characteristics

- highest strength
- good elasticity
environmental Safety(Isospan does not emit harmful substances)
- ability to withstand high pressure

To the above, it can also be added that some types of isospan have fire-fighting properties, if special refractory particles were added to them at the production stage. All types of isospan resist well ultraviolet rays and withstand the temperature environment from -60 to + 80 degrees.

Taking into account the fact that isospan has been developed in several forms, let us touch on in detail the characteristics of the main modifications of the insulator: these are types A, B, C and D. This is necessary to know if you intend to use isospan in the construction or insulation of buildings.

Roof covering with isospan

Izospan A- This is a kind of membrane that protects the structure from moisture (waterproofing), and helps to remove water vapor from the insulation. It is used to protect walls and facades of premises for any purpose. With its protective properties, it extends the service life of the insulation. It can be safely called wind and waterproofing protection for your home.

Material tensile strength: 190/140 mm (long / cross)
UV stability: 3-4 months
Water resistance: 300 mm
Water vapor permeability: not less than 2000

Izospan type A reliably provides thermal insulation of the insulation and has:

- good resistance to external mechanical stress
- resistance to harmful substances (chemistry, bacteria)

When installing isospan, the following question often arises: which side to the insulation to lay it?

Izospan A is mounted from the outside of the insulation. When installed on an insulated roof, it is cut into wide strips and overlapped so that the smooth surface remains outside.

Installation starts from the bottom of the roof. When working with Isospan A, do not allow it to come into contact with itself, since the waterproofing properties of Isospan are greatly reduced with such direct contact.

Make sure that during the installation of this type of isospan there are no different kinds of swelling or sagging, because in gusts of wind, it will create popping, banging and other unpleasant noises in the room. Isospan A is fastened with rails with nails. A free space of 5 cm is left between the sides of the insulator. We are watching a video about izospan: which side to lay on the insulation.

If Isospan A is used as a wind and hydro-barrier for insulation, then isospan B you can call it a vapor barrier. Any insulation, even the most modern, is saturated with water vapor over time. The task of Isospan B is to create a barrier to these vapors inside the building.

The material has 2 layers and is used to preserve the surface:

- sloped roof
interior walls
- frame walls
- attic, basement floors

Isospan B properties:

- breaking load prod. / Trans. N / 5 cm not less than 130/107
- vapor permeability about 7
- water resistance 1000 mm water column

Since isospan B consists of two layers, each side has its own functions. Its smooth part provides the adhesion strength of the insulator to the main insulation layer. The rough or fluffy side helps to retain moisture particles and drain condensation.

Izospan B is laid on the inside of the heat-insulating layer when using a stapler. Installation is carried out in the direction of the bottom-up, overlapping, while ensuring a tight contact of materials. On the side with a fleecy surface, create a free space of at least 50 mm.

Izospan B

Izospan S has very similar characteristics with isospan B, they are similar in structure, they also have a structure of 2 layers, but isospan C is more durable, heavy-duty, used to protect the floor, floor slabs, cold roof. The extra strength and special reliability of this type also determine its price, which is higher than the price of Isospane V.

Isospan C properties:

- made of 100% polypropylene
- breaking load 197/119 prod. / Trans. N / 5cm
- resistance to vapor permeation - 7 m2hPa / mh
- water resistance - 1000 mm water column

Isospan C use:

1. Water and vapor barrier of non-insulated sloped roof
2. Flat roof
3. Water and vapor barrier of frame walls
4. Vapor barrier wooden floors horizontal type
5. Steam and moisture insulation of concrete floor

On pitched roof surfaces, it is installed horizontally, with an overlap (15 cm), the work takes place from the bottom up. A special tape is applied to the formed joints. Fasteners are made using rails.

When working with ceilings, Isospan C is placed on top, overlapping, leaving a small gap of 50 mm from the film, heat insulator and floor. When working with concrete floors, Isospan of this type is mounted directly on concrete surface, and a screed is carried out on top.

Roof waterproofing with isospan

Izospan D is a modern high-strength vapor and waterproofing material. This type of isospan can be called a polypropylene woven fabric having a two-layer structure.

A feature of Isospan D is that, in comparison with other types of polypropylene materials, it has the ability to withstand very significant mechanical influences during installation, and is also able to withstand a large snow load.

Scope of isospan D

It is used in construction as a waterproofing and vapor barrier for roofing, in non-insulated pitched roofs as well as to protect various designs made of wood. Serves as a reliable barrier on the way of under-roof condensate, as well as atmospheric phenomena in the form of snow, wind, especially in those places where the roof is not laid tightly enough.

Izospan D is used to form a temporary coating layer for waterproofing the roof and walls of buildings (up to 4 months). Also, this type of isospan has proven itself well as a waterproofing layer when working with floors on a concrete and earthen base, and when insulating basement floors in buildings with high humidity.

Used for insulation:

flat roof
- floors on a concrete base
- basement floors
- sloped roofs

Izospan D

Physical and mechanical properties isospana D:

- breaking load prod. / Trans. N / 5cm: 1068/890
- resistance to vapor permeability m2hPa / mh: not less than 7
- water resistance: 1000 mm water column
- UV resistance: 3-4 months.

Izospan D finds its application during work, in order to preserve the internal parts of the house and insulation from the influence of water vapor accumulating inside the room. It should be noted that the installation of Isospan D, like other types of Isospan, is easy enough, which in itself provides a good, constantly growing demand for this modern insulating material.

When laying Isospan D on an uninsulated roof of an inclined shape, the material is cut directly on the rafters. It does not matter which side of the insulator is mounted to the surface. Isospan D canvases are laid horizontally, with an overlap.

Work starts at the bottom of the roof and continues upward. The joints formed during the laying of the material are connected with a special adhesive tape. The stretched, ready-to-use material is fastened vertically to the rafters with wooden slats and carnations.

As you can see, at very good characteristics, modern insulating material isospan it is quite simple to use and does not require any special skills and knowledge when installing it. But the functions that Izospan undertakes will ensure the reliability and durability of your entire thermal insulation system. Watching the video.

The process of choosing wind, hydro and steam protection should be carried out with special care, since among a large number manufacturers, you need to choose the material that will be the most reliable. • connection of joints of materials using connecting tapes.

"Izospan" characteristics and variety of material

We offer to study the whole range of products manufactured by Izospan:

1. Membranes or films for waterproofing, vapor and windproof purposes.

Hydro and wind protection is made to protect the elements of the insulation system and structural elements of the building from the formation of condensate masses, winds and moisture that comes from the environment.

At the same time, the outer side of this protection has a vapor-permeable shell, with the help of which all water vapor and accumulations are eroded.

The use of these materials is common for roofing, wall structures, as well as ventilated facades. Due to the combination of high water resistance and vapor permeability, these membranes are in high demand among consumers.

2. Films for vapor barrier and waterproofing purposes.

These materials protect insulation on walls, roofs and ceilings from steam and condensation, which significantly reduces the quality of insulation.

With the help of steam and waterproofing films, the thermal insulation of the insulation is preserved and the service life of the entire structure is extended. In addition, condensation does not collect inside the walls, mold and mildew do not form, and no corrosion occurs on metal elements.

3. Heat-vapor-waterproofing reflective type, which has the effect of energy saving.

These materials have a metallized surface that reflects infrared rays and provides reliable protection of the insulation from steam from the inside and from moisture from the outside. The use of these materials allows you to save energy for heating the room in the winter.

4. The use of connecting tapes ensures reliable joining of the material for a long time.

  • environmental harmlessness and safety of use;
  • ease of transportation, convenient shape and light weight.

4. "Izospan A" is a vapor-permeable membrane that protects the insulation and the surface of the walls from weather and wind. In addition, it facilitates the removal of steam from the interior of the room. The material is laid with outside insulation to the surface before carrying out external finishing works... Due to the use of a membrane, the quality of insulation is improved and the service life of the entire building is extended.

The scope of use extends to:

  • the surface of the frame walls;
  • outer wall surfaces;
  • ventilated facades.

5. "Izospan fire retardant action (OZD) A" - a new type of wind and moisture protection membrane, which has fire retardant additives. The use of a membrane of this type not only protects the structure from wind, condensation and moisture, but also prevents its accidental fire, which occurs in such cases:

  • in the process of welding;
  • in the process of waterproofing the basement;
  • in other situations.

6. "Izospan AF" is a non-combustible membrane used in the process of waterproofing ventilated façade sections, insulation and other structural elements of a building. The material is based on the use of fiberglass, which is absolutely non-combustible.

7. "Izospan AF +" is a non-combustible membrane with enhanced characteristics, which is used for the purpose of wind and waterproofing of building elements. In addition, with the use of this material, additional protection of the building from fire is provided.

How to lay Izospan: features of membrane installation

When answering the question of which side to lay "Izospan", one should be extremely careful, since improper laying of the material will lead to a violation of the integrity of the waterproofing system.

On the one hand, the membrane has a layer that allows air to pass through, thereby eliminating condensation, while the other side is not able to allow moisture or wind to pass through.

We suggest that you familiarize yourself with the recommendations for the installation of Izospan AS and AM membranes. They are used to provide wind and moisture protection to roofing trims. The material is attached directly to thermal insulation materials, while the ventilation gap should not be observed. The smooth blue side of the material should be on the outside of the roof.

These types of membranes provide reliable protection of the building from precipitation, wind or defects in roofing. In addition, with the help of the membrane, the removal of moisture through the surface of the insulation is improved.

These membranes are not used as basic or additional roofing materials.

If the membrane is installed on an insulated roof, then the insulation is cut and rolled directly onto it. It is better to start the installation from the bottom of the roof. The minimum overlap is 150 mm. A construction stapler is used to fix the stretched material on the surface of the rafters.

Further, antiseptic wooden counter-rails are attached to the material. Their fixation is carried out using nails or self-tapping screws. The vertical overlap or joint of two parts of the membrane is pressed with a counter-rail. In addition, lathing is mounted on them for further roof finishing. Between the outside of the membrane and roofing there must be a ventilation gap that will help drain condensate out of the under-roof space. In addition, you need to worry about arranging the ventilation gap in the ridge part.

The membrane is fixed in a taut position, with the help of the lower edge a lower drain of condensate is provided, which enters the drainage system.

Installation of Izospan A, AF membranes is carried out with a ventilation gap of 4-5 cm, over the insulation, rafters or lathing.

If materials are laid on an insulated roof, then rolling and cutting of the material is performed on the rafters. Installation is carried out by laying overlapping horizontal canvases, while their smooth side should be outside. The minimum overlap is 150 mm.

To fix the canvases, counter-rails are also used, which are fixed with nails or self-tapping screws. The minimum sagging of the membrane is 2 cm. The material should not come into contact with insulation or solid wooden plots, since this negatively affects its functional activity.

Application of "Izospan" video:

Izospan is a non-woven building material that is used to insulate residential and non-residential premises... In addition, it is essential for moisture and water resistance. This is especially important when creating a plan for a house with an attic and a garage, which must be properly insulated with water and heat.

The reader will find out in this article what types of isospan exist, what advantages this material has.

Izospan: material characteristics

Isospan film is now very common in the construction market. It is used as the first barrier layer during the installation of insulation: it excludes the ingress of moisture on the main insulation layer of expanded polystyrene or other insulation. The material consists of pure polypropylene, is completely synthetic, therefore it does not completely absorb water. When creating an insulation plan, Izospan should be taken into account in the work.

Attention! Izospan is recognized as very effective material for insulation of attics, garages, one-story buildings.

An attic is an attic space that can be used for storage or living space. The roof itself becomes the walls of this room, which should be well insulated. Izospan insulates and protects against moisture and wind, maintaining a comfortable temperature inside the attic and the whole house.

Similarly, isospan coating is used to insulate garages and other one-story non-residential premises:

  • protects metal from corrosion, wood from decay;
  • prevents the formation of condensation and moisture insulation, which reduces the thermal insulation properties;
  • reflects air currents, protecting the room from cooling and drafts;
  • maintains a stable indoor temperature, does not release heat.

The following advantages of isospan can be distinguished:

  • waterproof;
  • durable and environmentally friendly (does not emit harmful impurities);
  • has high elasticity;
  • protects from ultraviolet radiation;
  • protects from the wind;
  • does not release, reflects heat;
  • withstands high pressure;
  • durable (lasts about 50 years);
  • retains its properties in the range from minus 60 to plus 80 degrees Celsius.

In terms of creating comfortable conditions inside residential premises, Izospan plays an important role, especially when arranging a house with an attic, garage and other one-story extensions in the Russian climate.

Varieties of material, their technical features

Now high-quality manufacturers create pure polypropylene and a film from it using technological equipment, controlling the quality of production. Domestic companies are opening in Russia that offer building materials similar in quality to foreign companies and more favorable in price.

When choosing products, you need to focus on the availability of quality and safety certificates from Isospan. Renowned manufacturers coordinate their production plans with legal requirements.

Now, when decorating houses and non-residential premises, 4 main modifications of isospan are used, which have their own characteristics.

Izospan A

This is a film (membrane) that perfectly waterproofs and helps to remove moisture, its vapors, from the insulation. This modification is used to protect against wind and water, increasing the service life of the insulation. It is used for insulation of private houses, attics, garages and any other premises.

This isospan is resistant to mechanical stress and pressure, completely neutral to biological effects (mold, bacteria, etc.). Can stretch:

  • longitudinally by 190 mm;
  • transversely by 140 mm.

The material is fixed from the outside of the insulation as an additional barrier. For example, when insulating the attic, it is mounted on the roof with an overlap in wide strips.

Important! The smooth surface should remain outside, the film itself should not come into contact with the insulation material. Otherwise, Izospan will not be able to waterproof the room and insulation with high quality.

It is necessary that the membrane lies flat, does not protrude, swell or sag. Izospan A is fixed with wooden slats and nails.

Izospan A can be seen in the photo:

Izospan V

This modification perfectly blocks the way for water vapor, which makes it possible to exclude the impregnation of the insulation with steam.

Important! When creating a garage plan, it can be very important to avoid moisture build-up in the room where the vehicle is stored.

Izospan B is two-layer, used:

  1. On pitched roofs.
  2. On the walls: external and internal.
  3. To preserve the floors in the basement, attic (attic).
  4. In garages and other non-residential premises.

The vapor permeability index is 7, the material can also stretch: in the longitudinal direction by 130 mm, in the transverse direction - at least 107 mm.

Each layer of this material has its own functions:

  • the fleecy layer retains moisture and condensation;
  • the smooth part allows you to firmly fix the film with insulation.

Unlike the previous modification, Isospan B is mounted on the inside of the insulation. Fastened from bottom to top and overlapped. In order for the film to capture vapors, condensate, there must be a free space of at least 5 cm above the fleecy layer.

The appearance of Izospan B packaging can be seen in the photo:

Izospan S

It also consists of two layers, but is used to protect an insulated roof, floors between floors, floor insulation. Possesses high strength.

The film is used for steam and water insulation:

  • non-insulated pitched or flat roof;
  • frame, load-bearing walls;
  • wooden floors parallel to the floor;
  • concrete floor.
  1. Installation of non-insulated roofs (slopes) is carried out with an overlap (with a depth of about 15 cm), and is also attached using wooden battens. When arranging the attic of a house, this material perfectly insulates the room from moisture from the environment.
  2. If we talk about wooden floors, then here the film is attached directly to the insulation with a small free space from the floor (4-5 cm).
  3. When insulating a concrete floor, Isospan C is placed directly on the floor and pulled together on it.

Izospan C can be seen in the photo:

Izospan D

This modification is very durable, capable of withstanding a lot of pressure and stress. It is used for finishing roofs. In terms of waterproofing and protection against condensation, it perfectly withstands even a large crust of snow on itself.

Great for arranging the attic of a house or garage in regions with heavy snowfall. Material protects wooden structures and non-insulated roofs. Izospan D is insulated:

  • flat and pitched roofs;
  • concrete floors and ceilings at the level of the basement of the house.

The high strength of the film allows you to protect the living area from wind and moisture, even in cases where the roof is permeable to moisture.

It is also overlapped horizontally in strips, fixed to the roof rafters of the house with slats. Installation on a concrete floor is similar to the previous modification of Isospan, because Isospan C and D are in many ways similar in their characteristics.

Izospan D can be seen in the photo:

The main modifications are described above. building material, there are also varieties of these modifications that have different densities or additional qualities, for example, fire retardant additives, which give a large fire safety and protect against fire.

Also, manufacturers took care of the creation of additional Supplies, which allow you to isolate seams and minor damage. It is about Isospan scotch - these adhesive tapes allow you to isolate seam lines, uneven surfaces. Enough to working surface was dry and cleaned - Isospan FL, SL scotch tape will provide good impermeability to such places. There is even a metallized tape with a high durability.

Important points for the installation of isospan

In the instructions for the use of isospan, the following points can be highlighted:

  1. The installation of this insulating material does not require any special knowledge; it can be done by hand, taking into account the individual characteristics of the membrane.
  2. The sales kit always comes with instructions, which must be read carefully and acted upon. For example, if you fix the isospan with the reverse side, then all the work will be meaningless - no isolation will happen.
  3. Fastening to a tree is carried out with a stapler, one should not forget about sealing the seams, possible cracks using Isospan adhesive tape.
  4. When a heat-insulating film is mounted, the metallized part should look inside the room, and the laying work itself is done joint-to-joint, without overlap. The seams are also sealed.

Izospan allows you to make life in your home comfortable and warm. The use of this foil in the basement or in the attic extends the service life rafter system, wooden floors, creates a stable microclimate in living quarters. Insulation of the garage from moisture and condensation, allows you to keep the room dry and safe for metal coating car and other equipment.

Modern technologies greatly simplify the arrangement of your home. Approaching the issue responsibly, each person will not be aware of the problems in their home for a long time!

Each modern building cannot exist without an insulating layer. However, this layer itself requires protection. Vapor barrier materials come to the rescue, for example, Izospan A.

Initially, we will determine whether vapor barrier is important for walls and roofs? Undoubtedly. It will allow you to preserve the insulation of the roof and walls. Waterproofing is used on ceilings and partitions that are exposed to all kinds of climatic changes.

There are the following types of vapor barrier materials:

  • Standard film... It helps to protect against condensation that can appear on the inner surface of walls, roofs, insulation.
  • Membrane film coating... These materials remove excess moisture and fumes from the premises. In addition, there is a subspecies of it, which has the property of variable vapor permeability, which increases in proportion to humidity.
  • Foil with aluminum coating... It performs the functions of steam and heat insulation due to its reflective properties.
  • Roof membrane... Resistant to temperature extremes and ultraviolet radiation. Differs in high indicators of strength.

Izospan A and "what it is eaten with"

Izospan is an innovative building material that shows itself perfectly in the construction of many modern buildings. Excellent protection of insulation and structures from climatic influences - these are the main qualities that provide Izospan with authority in the construction business.

TO technical features Izospan A vapor barrier should be attributed:

  • Material strength;
  • Elasticity;
  • Environmental safety;
  • High protection against mechanical stress.

Izospan is divided into four types: A, B, C, D. In this article, focus on the first variation of this product.

Group A films are used to protect the outside of the premises.

The letter "A" on the material means that we are dealing with an ordinary film of this group, without any modifications. Specifications Izospan AM and AS differ in that they are made of three layers, which makes it possible to increase the level of protection of buildings. In addition, fire-resistant films are also present in this group of materials.

Izospan A with OZD (with flame retardants) - waterproofing film, which not only protects against the effects of air masses, but also against accidental fires (during welding, during rough handling with fire).

Izospan A is used as a kind of membrane, which is caused by the waterproofing properties of the material. This film protects the roof, facades and walls of any type of premises. Due to its wind and moisture protection function, this film will help keep the insulation in excellent condition for a long time. The film itself has been on the market for about 12 years, and has many positive reviews.

The use of Izospan is possible at all stages of construction. It will perfectly protect the roof, which is constantly exposed to warm and cold air masses.

Izospan A - technical characteristics

Despite the fact that Izospan is divided into several categories, the latter are also divided into several modifications. For example, the following is the difference between the individual variations of Izospan A: Izospan A (density 110 g / m²), Izospan AM (density 90 g / m²), Izospan AS (density 115 g / m²), Izospan AQ proff (density 120 g / m²).

Vapor barrier Izospan A, the technical characteristics of which are indicated by the manufacturer:

  • Material tensile strength: 190/140 millimeters;
  • Stability when exposed ultraviolet radiation: 3-4 months;
  • Water resistance: 300 mm;
  • Water vapor permeability: not less than 2000.

Instructions for use Izospan A

Instructions for the use of this material begins with the question of many builders: "Which side of the insulation should Izospan A be laid on?"

The Izospan A vapor barrier is mounted from the outside of the insulation.

Before starting work on the processing of walls and roofs with foil, you need to make sure that the following tools are prepared:

  • metal profile and wooden slats;
  • self-tapping screws;
  • to fix individual areas, a construction stapler and tape may be required;
  • scissors for cutting the coating;
  • the required amount of vapor barrier, calculated as the sum of the area of the surface to be coated and overlaps of 15 cm on each side;

When installing Izospan A vapor barrier on an insulated roof, the material is cut into wide strips and overlapped. The smooth surface of the vapor trap must remain outside. Installation of Izospan A should be started from the bottom of the roof. Izospan should not be allowed to come into contact with the insulation, as this can significantly reduce the waterproofing properties of the material.

Pay attention to whether swelling occurs during installation. This can create noise during strong gusts of wind.

Izospan A is fastened with rails using self-tapping screws. Leave 5 centimeters of free space between the sides of the insulator.

If you use Izospan A to create a wind and hydro barrier, then we would recommend that you supplement the protection with a vapor barrier. Izospan B is perfect for this. Izospan B has two layers and is used to preserve surfaces:

  • Sloped roof;
  • Internal walls;
  • Frame walls;
  • Attic, basement floors.

Installation diagram depending on the purpose:

  • Non-insulated and sloped roof: main structure - vapor barrier layer - wooden flooring;
  • Attic: ceiling - vapor barrier - insulation - slats - beam;
  • Concrete floor: base - screed - insulating film - finishing layer.

It is worth noting that it is necessary to strictly observe all the subtleties of the operation of this material, so as not to be disappointed after. Take into account what exactly you insulate: insulation of walls, roofs, or it is a carriage or panel sheathing. These aspects can create certain subtleties in the installation.

Positive and negative aspects of Izospan vapor barrier

Like everything in this world, Izospan vapor barrier has not only positive sides but also negative. Let's start, as is customary, with the good. The advantages of Izospan waterproofing include:

  • It is a highly durable material;
  • The service life is over 50 years;
  • Resistant to climatic influences different kinds: evaporation, wind, precipitation;
  • Safety and environmental friendliness;
  • The use of Izospan A does not cause unnecessary difficulties during installation.

As for negative qualities, then this includes only the fact that the material is flammable. However, we have already mentioned Izospan A with OZD, which eliminates this problem.

How important is vapor barrier for walls and roofs?

Vapor barrier is necessary thing for any buildings, which we tried to talk about at the beginning of the material. Izospan A membrane is an easy and inexpensive solution this issue, which will ensure the safety of your walls, roof, and insulation. Many people underestimate waterproofing, and this despite the fact that it significantly insulates the room. In addition, they protect the insulation, thus avoiding unnecessary costs for sudden repairs.

Izospan A, whose characteristics are universal, is suitable in any situations related to vapor barrier. A large assortment modifications will allow you to purchase a film according to the requirements that arise during the repair work.
