Boiler for a warm water floor: selection features and connection diagram. We supply water underfloor heating from a gas boiler - an economical system Wall-mounted gas boiler with underfloor heating function

A heating gas boiler is a device that uses the combustion of fuel (natural or liquefied gas) to heat the coolant.

Device (construction) gas boiler : burner, heat exchanger, insulated housing, hydraulic block, as well as safety and control devices. Such gas boilers require a chimney to be connected to remove the combustion products. The chimney can be either a conventional vertical or coaxial ("pipe in pipe") for boilers with a closed combustion chamber. Many modern boilers are equipped with built-in pumps for forced circulation water.

The principle of operation of a gas boiler- the coolant, passing through the heat exchanger, heats up and then circulates through the heating system, giving off the received thermal energy through radiators, underfloor heating, heated towel rails, and also providing water heating in an indirect heating boiler (if it is connected to a gas boiler).

A heat exchanger is a metal container in which a coolant (water or antifreeze) is heated - it can be made of steel, cast iron, copper, etc. The reliability and durability of a gas boiler depend on the quality of the heat exchanger in the first place. Cast iron heat exchangers are corrosion resistant and have long term services, but are sensitive to sudden temperature changes and are distinguished by significant weight. Steel containers can suffer from rust, therefore their inner surfaces are protected with various anti-corrosion coatings, which ensure the prolongation of the "life" of the device. Steel heat exchangers are the most common in boiler manufacturing. Corrosion is not terrible for copper heat exchangers, and due to their high heat transfer coefficient, low weight and dimensions, such heat exchangers are often used in wall-mounted boilers, but of the minuses, it should be noted that they are more expensive than steel ones.
In addition to the heat exchanger, an important part of gas boilers is a burner, which can be of various types: atmospheric or fan, single-stage or two-stage, with smooth modulation, double.

To control the gas boiler, automation is used with different settings and functions (for example, a weather-dependent control system), as well as devices for programming the operation and remote control of the boiler.

The main technical characteristics gas heating boilers are: power, number of heating circuits, type of fuel., type of combustion chamber, type of burner, installation method, availability of a pump and expansion tank, boiler control automation.

To determine required power a gas heating boiler for a private country house or apartment, a simple formula is used - 1 kW of boiler power to heat 10 m 2 of a well-insulated room with a ceiling height of up to 3 m. the power of the gas boiler must be increased. It is also necessary to increase the power (about 20-50%) while providing a gas boiler and hot water supply (especially if water heating in the pool is required).

The peculiarity of calculating the power for gas boilers: the nominal gas pressure at which the boiler operates at 100% of the capacity declared by the manufacturer, for most boilers is from 13 to 20 mbar, and the actual pressure in gas networks in Russia can be 10 mbar, and sometimes even lower ... Accordingly, a gas boiler often works only at 2/3 of its capabilities and this must be taken into account when calculating. In more detail, with the table for calculating the power of the heating boiler, you can

Most gas boilers can be transfer from work from natural gas to liquefied gas(bottled propane). Many models switch to liquefied gas by the factory method (when purchasing, check these model characteristics), or nozzles (nozzles) are additionally supplied to the gas boiler to switch to bottled gas.

Pros and cons of gas boilers:

Boiler piping- these are devices for the full operation of the heating and water supply system. It includes: pumps, expansion tanks, filters (if necessary), manifolds, check and safety valves, air valves, valves, etc. You will also need to purchase radiators, connecting pipes and valves, thermostats, boiler, etc. The issue of choosing a boiler is quite serious, therefore, it is better to entrust the selection of equipment and its complete set to professionals.

What is the best boiler? On Russian market gas boiler equipment has its own leaders in quality and reliability. The best manufacturers and brands of gas boilers are presented in the range:

"Premium class" or "Lux"- the most reliable and durable, easy to operate, the kit is assembled as a "constructor", more expensive than others. These manufacturers include German companies

Gas boilers for underfloor heating

Navien boilers:

Boilers made in Korea. Enough good quality... Advantages: stainless steel heat exchanger and stainless steel radiator in the heating chamber; the set includes a room thermostat (pictured to the left of the boiler).

Another boiler:

This is a wall-mounted gas boiler of the German company Veilant. German quality speaks for itself. However, when choosing such a boiler, you need to find out if there is a warranty workshop in your city that can, if necessary, carry out the appropriate repairs.

Gas boilers of domestic manufacturers are also produced of proper quality, for example, Lemax boilers are wall-mounted double-circuit boilers ...

And this, domestic manufacturers:

Another floor-standing boiler, but from the Italian company Ferroli:

This company has been on the Russian market for a long time, the boilers have proven themselves well. Produced boilers Ferroli many standard sizes, both floor-standing and wall-mounted.

Electric boilers for underfloor heating

In the photo below, also wall-mounted, by the Czechoslovak company Proterm:

This company produces not only electric, but also gas boilers. Of course, electricity is not yet a cheap energy carrier, but when there is no way to supply gas, and you don’t want to constantly throw up firewood and coal… there is nowhere to go.

Another type of electric boiler, manufactured by Galax:

This is just a container with electrodes or heating elements built into it, such a boiler must still be equipped with all auxiliary devices.

Another electric boiler (outside and sectional view, which shows the location of the units inside the boiler):

And another electric boiler:

This boiler is equipped with all the necessary additional devices... On the right, there is a touchscreen control panel, where the required parameters are set, and these parameters will be supported automatically.

Underfloor heating oil boiler

Below in the photo is a boiler with an oil burner:

At the price, diesel boilers are more expensive than gas boilers, and in terms of energy consumption they are slightly cheaper than electric ones.

The disadvantage of diesel boilers, unfortunately, is not only in the boilers themselves, but also in diesel fuel, the quality of which often leaves much to be desired. Other disadvantages: the smell of diesel fuel in the boiler room, the need to have storage tanks for storing diesel fuel.

Another boiler for diesel fuel:

Solid fuel boiler for underfloor heating

And this is a good old solid fuel boiler:

After supplying gas to the house, such a boiler can be converted to a gas one by installing a burner. But, according to the reviews of those who used it, the boiler is not economical, the gas consumption is twice as much compared to the wall one.

In general, you can talk a lot about heating boilers, consider in detail the device of each model, say / write something else ... only there will be little sense in this.

What heating underfloor heating boiler to choose for your heating system, it is up to you to decide unambiguously, based on your capabilities, living conditions or personal sympathies and preferences. About how to make a boiler room, read the article How to make a boiler room correctly, and about the chimney device in the article Chimney design (I did not repeat these two articles from the section on radiator heating in the topic of underfloor heating, since neither boiler rooms nor chimneys are no different for both systems).

underfloor heating boiler

When installing a water-heated floor, it is important not only to correctly calculate and lay the pipes, but also to choose the boiler correctly. Indeed, the well-being and quality of life of the inhabitants of the house / apartment will depend on how well he will cope with his functions.

The choice of a boiler for a warm floor must be carried out according to several parameters:

  • ease of use;
  • heating cost;
  • the degree of adaptation to low-temperature conditions and the necessary additional equipment.

By the combination of these parameters, as well as whether it will be the main heating or additional, which of the types of fuel is preferable for you and you need to choose a heating unit.

Choosing a boiler for a warm water floor is not an easy task.

Degree of autonomy

The requirements for the comfort of heating equipment are not the whims of spoiled consumers: not everyone has the opportunity to constantly monitor the operation of the heating system and toss up fuel. Therefore, we consider this parameter first.

The highest degree of autonomy. There is electricity - they work without human intervention. Moreover, after a power outage, they turn on independently, many of them have a "memory" and save the settings. But there are three varieties of electric colas:

  • on heating elements;
  • electrode;
  • induction.

An electric boiler for underfloor heating on heating elements is a traditional solution. But they only have one "disease" - the heaters are on, and quite often. But their cost is average, and the technologies have been tested and worked out, even a person who is not very good at communicating with technology can replace a burned-out heating element. In general, not a bad (but not the best) option.

The most "dependent" are solid fuel installations. Fuel should be thrown into them often, regularly rake out ash and slag, and regulate the intensity of combustion. Of course I have, . The best models on one coal tab can work for several days (up to 7 days for some models of the company). But there are also difficulties here: they are demanding on fuel (you need dry firewood or coal of a certain condition), and the price can also frighten off.

A solid fuel boiler for a water heated floor requires the constant presence of a person. Two to three times less often "refueling" is required for pyrolysis units and long burning installations

You can use a conventional solid fuel boiler for a water-heated floor, but you will have to spend a lot of time near the stove. Although there are already solid fuel units with automated feeding. They are equipped with pellet-type hoppers and auger feed. Only the requirements for the size and quality of fuel in them are no less stringent than those that operate on pellets. But you can leave your home for a few days and not be afraid that the system will freeze up.

Fifth place for liquid fuel - it is not cheap. The operating costs should also include the need to heat the fuel tank, or the installation of the tank in a heated room. In addition, diesel fuel installations require a boiler room. Moreover, it is better to build a boiler room at a decent distance from the house: the noise during the operation of the burner is decent, and the smell is strong, and it penetrates everywhere.

It is generally accepted that the most expensive heating is electricity. But when using automated modern devices you have to pay only slightly more than using coal or firewood. So also electric boilers for a warm floor, do not discount it. Just for more economical heating it is advisable for you to take a heating unit with the ability to adjust the power. In some traditional electric boilers, heating elements are assembled in groups, and the automation, turning on / off the groups, regulates the work power and saves electricity. For a warm floor, it is advisable to take a three-stage, or, in extreme cases, a two-stage unit. Induction and electrode boilers are economical in themselves (if controlled by electronics) and low-inertia, that is, they do not waste energy.

Adaptation to work with underfloor heating

Most of the boilers are designed for traditional heating systems, that is, they produce a coolant with a temperature of 60-95 ° C. The peculiarity of water floor heating is that much lower temperatures are required: about 35-50 ° C. Only under such conditions, the floor should not be burned will be, but will be pleasantly warm.

There are two solutions: to find an installation that can deliver warm, not hot water, or mix cold water to the hot one, and only then dispense it into the pipes. The second solution requires additional equipment- a manifold unit, in which mixing takes place. This is not the cheapest technology, since it is required to measure the temperature of hot water and return, mix them until the temperature drops to the desired level. Of course, manifold units are different, more or less expensive, but you still need to buy and install them.

Let's start with boilers for a water floor, which can themselves produce a coolant of the required temperature. Here, in the first place - electrical heating units. You yourself can set the temperature from 25 ° C and above. That is, no additional costs and comfortable work with warm floors... In addition, induction and electrode (ionic) boilers have very small dimensions, which makes them easy to install. If you have one circuit, you can connect it directly to the output. If there are several circuits, a comb for a warm floor will be needed, but the simplest one, without mixing and temperature controllers. In principle, you can do it yourself from pipes and fittings. Other equipment may require (or not, depending on the configuration) an expansion tank, a drain valve and circulation pump.

There is another option that shows just excellent efficiency when working with low-temperature networks - this. They are most effective at a coolant temperature in the return pipe not higher than 35 o C. That is, it is an excellent option for a water floor.

The best choice is a condensing gas boiler for underfloor heating

Gas boilers using traditional technology heat extraction, require the installation of a mixing unit with control elements. If you decide to use such equipment, try to choose a model that can simultaneously work with two or more circuits. Usually one of them is high-temperature for radiators, and the rest are for low-temperature systems such as underfloor heating. In this case, the automation is engaged in monitoring the temperature and mixing the coolant and everything happens inside the installation. So if your water-heated floor works simultaneously with radiator heating, such equipment is a great solution.

The situation is more complicated with boilers for pellets and liquid fuel: for them a collector (mixing) unit is required. And with all the stuffing: thermometers, controllers and thermal heads.

Connecting high-temperature boilers for underfloor heating is not an easy task

But the hardest thing to adapt for a warm floor, perhaps, solid fuel boilers: the principle of action is cyclical. They give out very hot water, then they completely fade. Not the most comfortable option, requiring high-quality automation and temperature control in each circuit. The heat accumulator will allow to reduce these fluctuations, but it also costs decent money, and it takes up a lot of space. In addition, the piping becomes more complicated and the inertia of the system increases several times: while the entire coolant heats up, it will take a long time. True, inertia acts in reverse side: while the coolant cools down, the house is warm, and this is great freedom, since there is no need to regularly add fuel. And yet, despite the popularity of firewood and coal, a solid fuel boiler for a water-heated floor is not the best solution.

Outcomes

So, where to choose? Most the best option- gas boiler for underfloor heating with condensing technology of heat extraction. In all three parameters, it occupies a good position. The situation is a little worse if you put gas installation with warm floor function. But, unfortunately, not everyone has the opportunity to connect the main gas. And then the easiest way is to implement a water heat-insulated floor with an electric boiler. A small electric boiler can be supplied to heat warm floors in utility rooms, for example, in the garage or in the country: it is very easy to install. The next in "quality" is the pellet unit, followed by liquid fuel. The hardest task and high costs waiting when using solid fuel boilers for water floor heating.

This article will focus on a boiler for a warm water floor - gas, electric and solid fuel. We will consider their advantages and disadvantages, as well as how to choose and install (installation) correctly.

Today, water underfloor heating is a very popular form of heating a residential building. Such a dwelling heating system has a lot of advantages: low energy consumption, the ability to control the temperature, etc. In order for a water-heated floor to work with maximum productivity, you need to correctly choose a boiler for. The main criteria that should be followed when choosing a boiler are efficiency, ease of use, heating cost, as well as the degree of installation complexity and connection requirements.

Arrangement of the heating system

For such a heating system, you can choose a boiler that runs on any fuel. However, the unit must meet one important condition: its control system must be automatic.

Boilers are classified according to the type of fuel on which they operate: solid fuel (, wood,), gas (gas), electric (electricity), liquid fuel (diesel fuel, waste oil).

The most profitable and productive for a warm hollow are:

  • electric boilers;
  • gas boilers.

Electric boiler for underfloor heating

An electric boiler is a device that heats a coolant using electricity. The work of such units is productive and efficient. The efficiency can reach 99%.

Electric boiler operation diagram

But despite the high efficiency and productivity of electric boilers, their use presupposes heavy expenses because electricity is an expensive fuel.

An electric heating boiler is constructed from a tank in which the coolant and heating elements are located. In addition, the unit is equipped with security team consisting of a pressure sensor and safety valve... The boiler has a pump that circulates the coolant, an air outlet and an expansion tank.

The principle of water heating for warm water floors is based on the following: water enters the boiler and begins to warm up. When the required temperature is reached, the heat carrier moves towards the warm water floor.

The principle of operation of electric boilers for floor and wall execution identical.

Advantages and disadvantages

Let's note the main advantages and disadvantages of using electric boilers for underfloor heating:

  • high coefficient useful action ;
  • reliability;
  • lack of combustion products;
  • autonomy of work, the presence of a person is not assumed;
  • difficulties with installation and further use usually do not arise.

A number of difficulties may arise with connecting the boiler to the network, since it will need to be wired separately.

Disadvantages:

  • volatility;
  • high price of electricity.

An electric unit for a warm water floor is more suitable for rooms that are not very large in size and with good thermal insulation, then their operation will be as economical as possible.

Installation and selection

Underfloor heating and an electric boiler are easy to connect. The operating temperature for many models starts from 25 °, so strapping does not imply high costs. It will only be necessary to acquire it, and then only in the situation when several circuits will be connected to one boiler. As already noted, there are no combustion products in the operation of such units, so you can install an electric boiler anywhere in your home.

When choosing an electric boiler for a warm water floor, you need to be guided by such criteria as:

  • power: performance of the heating device (calculated according to the size of the heated room);
  • protection from air humidity;
  • the degree of automation of the boiler;
  • connection to a 220 V or 380 V network;
  • design;
  • manufacturer.

Connection diagram of the boiler and warm water floor

Here are some manufacturers of electric boilers.

Gas boiler for underfloor heating

A gas boiler is a device that heats a coolant by burning gas. Since gas is a fuel available and inexpensive, the "warm water floor" heating system connected to a gas boiler is very profitable and efficient.

V gas boilers can be mounted. In units with closed chamber combustion - forced ventilation, and this option has a rather complex structure.

An example of a gas boiler device Protherm Panther KTV

They also differ in the presence of a heat exchanger. If you intend to use a boiler for heating water, then a heat exchanger must be built into it.

If the device is not equipped, then the water is heated by the same chamber as the heat carrier for floor heating. Consider the principle of operation of such a unit:

  1. Cold water moves along the right lower pipe, there is also security group.
  2. Then posted circulation pump, the expansion tank tube is located in front of it.
  3. There is a temperature sensor on the tube.
  4. Then the coolant moves to heating element and gets into heating system warm water floor.

In the center of the boiler there is a gas valve with its own safety block, which controls the flame, gas pressure, flue gases.

Advantages and disadvantages

The heating system, like a warm water floor from a gas boiler, has advantages:

  • cheap fuel;
  • high efficiency;
  • automated control system;
  • environmental friendliness.

For the normal functioning of a traditional gas boiler, the temperature must be at least 60 °, while for a condensing gas boiler, no higher than 40 °.

  • it is necessary to equip the system of exhausting combustion products outside the premises;
  • the equipment itself is expensive;
  • the boiler needs to be equipped auxiliary elements: gas analyzers, gas pressure sensors;
  • fire hazard.

Installation and selection

Installation of a gas boiler for underfloor heating is quite simple:

  1. Install between the supply and return pipelines.
  2. If the circulation is carried out at a low speed, then the water will stratify in temperature, and it will not be difficult to take the supply for the warm floor from the cold part, and hot water, in turn, will enter the boiler.
  3. Having carried out the installation of a simple thermal control circuit, it will be easy to find out the arbitrary temperature of the coolant, which is practically not tied to the return flow in the boiler.

If in your house you decide to use a gas boiler for a warm floor, then choosing such a unit, you should pay attention to the following indicators:

  • combustion chamber type: open / closed;
  • mounting type: wall / floor;
  • power;
  • design;
  • manufacturer.

The leader among the manufacturers of gas boilers for water floors is Viessman. The products of this company are characterized by strength, durability and high quality... Also positive reviews also has Buderus equipment.

Solid fuel boiler for underfloor heating

Solid fuel boilers in their operation need constant attention and maintenance, and there are especially many difficulties in compatibility with a warm floor. The exceptions are, but they still require more attention compared to boilers operating on gas and electricity.

In the work of solid fuel heating appliances many difficulties arise:

  1. A special place is required near the boiler for storing fuel.
  2. The boiler should be melted at least once a day.
  3. The chimney must be cleaned regularly.

To connect a solid fuel boiler, you need to install three-way valves... Their number should be equal to the number of contours. Thanks to the mixing unit that these valves form, the heated water will cool down.

Solid fuel boiler with heat storage

When connecting a solid fuel boiler to a water floor, it is imperative to take into account that water enters the pipes under the action of a pump that operates from the mains. If a power outage occurs, the movement of the coolant will be stopped, but since the boiler will continue to function, the water will begin to heat up, and its temperature will reach 100 ° C. Thus, due to the fact that the units operating on solid fuel do not have automation, the water will overheat.

To avoid such unpleasant consequences, you can install. This device is a container, the volume of which is calculated based on the power of the boiler - for 1 kW 40 liters. The thermal accumulator is connected to the underfloor heating system. The heated water will initially enter this tank, and after it cools down - into the pipes of the underfloor heating.
