DIY home on wheels: design photos, a step-by-step process of work. DIY Trailer for Travel - Communities ›Do It Yourself› Blog ›The walls of the caravan are set (materials, technology). DIY off-road travel trailer - part 7 Kempé

Some travelers and outdoor enthusiasts prefer DIY caravans to ready-made ones. The choice is explained not only by the lower cost homemade designs- you can think over the layout and equip the interior according to on their own... Before you build a home on wheels with your own hands, you should learn more about the process of making motorhomes, decide which option is better: a caravan or a camper.

Original motorhome

The device of a motorhome and a caravan

Regardless of the type, the motorhome should have minimal amenities: sleeping places for each traveler and an area for cooking and eating.

In addition, inside a minibus or trailer there may be:

  • wash basin;
  • gas stove connected to the cylinder;
  • shelves, lockers and other storage systems.

RVs designed for long journeys usually have a bathroom with a small shower.

Making a motorhome for yourself, with your own hands, you can provide for the presence of a bathroom and everything else that may be required on a trip.

DIY motorhome making

A do-it-yourself mobile home is made on the basis of a van or trailer. Buses are suitable for this purpose - a spacious cabin, a high roof make it a good candidate for remodeling.

Before converting a trailer or van, find out the conditions for registering caravans with the traffic police.

Motorhome bus

The construction of a mobile home consists of several stages:

  • drafting a project;
  • carrying out external and internal work;
  • communication device;
  • placement of furniture.

First of all, you need to decide what to take as a basis: a trailer or a van. The first option is more labor-intensive - the van already has walls and a roof, and in the trailer they will need to be built independently.

DIY motorhome based on a car

To create a mobile home, a car is used or, for example, old bus... A vehicle for conversion into a house is chosen based on financial capabilities and the number of people who will live inside the building.

Depending on the number of residents, they think over the design of the mobile home, as well as its content. To make it easier to work, make a plan.

RV based on a cargo van

Before making a motorhome, you need to stock up on the materials and tools necessary for work:

  • grinder;
  • car paint;
  • screwdriver;
  • welding machine;
  • thermal insulation;
  • finishing materials ( plastic panels, lining or other);
  • moisture resistant plywood;
  • carpet;
  • fasteners (screws, nails, dowels);
  • polyurethane foam;
  • primer;
  • paint brushes;
  • sealant;
  • metal brush.

Outdoor work

When the drawing is ready, the design is thought out, they proceed to external work. Would need:

  1. Clean the car body from rust and other damage. If paint has come off the surfaces, clean it off.
  2. Make several holes in the van for the windows, if they were not there initially. At the same time, cut out ventilation holes.
  3. Determine the location and cut openings for exhaust gases, drain holes and other communications.
  4. Cover cut areas, areas where paint has been removed with a primer to prevent rust formation. Wait until it is completely dry.
  5. Paint the exterior of the van.

Internal work

If you plan to separate the cab from the living compartment. Then the partition is mounted either with fasteners or welded metal carcass to the body with a welding machine.

First, the body is covered with heat-insulating material. Any insulation designed for residential premises is suitable. To fix the material on the walls and ceiling, hardware is used made of the same metal as the body - this technique will help protect the car from rust.

If the selected insulation does not tolerate contact with water, it will be necessary to additionally lay waterproofing.

Insert windows. Move on to wall decoration. For sheathing we choose moisture resistant plywood... The sheets must be quite thick to withstand a serious load - they will subsequently be used for attaching cabinets, shelves, and furniture.

Work starts from the ceiling. Having fixed the sheets there, they sheathe the walls. Next, they attach to the floor wooden beams thick with the height of the heat-insulating material, between them are laid insulation plates. The floor is covered with plywood, fastened to the timber with self-tapping screws.

The salon in which the kitchen is located and the shower and toilet should be separated using a frame partition.

Plywood can be painted, varnished, or carpeted. The latter option also serves as additional thermal insulation. A special glue is used to fix the carpet.

The next step is the device of communications in accordance with a pre-drawn scheme: electricity, heating and ventilation. Cable, plumbing and gas pipes they are laid either on top of the inner lining, or they are mounted simultaneously with the laying of the insulation inside, making holes for the output of communications.

Furniture

The furniture for the motorhome is selected individually. The necessary furnishings include:

  • table with a bench for the dining area;
  • bed or sofa bed;
  • hanging shelves and lockers for storing supplies, clothes, bedding;
  • washing.

Since the furniture is subject to increased stress during the movement of a mobile home, it must be of high quality, strong, have reliable fittings and a minimum of moving elements. Make sure that the cabinet door will not open during a sudden turn and the contents will not spill over the cabin.

All furniture must be firmly fixed, it is desirable that it be fixed at two points: on the floor and on the wall.

Interior solutions in a motorhome

DIY caravan from a trailer

Making a mobile home from a trailer is more difficult than remodeling a car. In this case, you will need to build from scratch the base of the floor, walls, roof.

For the construction of a camper, single-axle trailers are most often chosen that can withstand a load of up to 1 ton. Therefore, it is necessary to select materials for the frame, taking into account the weight of the future structure.

A camper trailer is erected using a frame:

  • metal;
  • tree;
  • sandwich panels.

The most affordable and relatively lightweight material for making a house on a trailer is wood. It is easier to work with and does not require special tools to connect the elements.

Frame

To make the frame you will need:

  • timber 50 * 50 mm;
  • moisture resistant plywood 10 mm for walls;
  • plywood 12 mm thick for the floor;
  • fasteners (screws);
  • screwdriver;
  • drying oil, brush;
  • galvanized corners;
  • jigsaw;
  • metal profile for the roof;
  • galvanized steel (for outer cladding);
  • silicone sealant;
  • insulation.

They preliminarily draw up a drawing of the future cottage-trailer, only after that they carry out the purchase building materials for the manufacture of the facade and roof of a mobile home.

The minimum parameters of the motorhome are 230 * 160 cm. The height of the building is from two meters. With such dimensions, 2 berths can be arranged inside the living compartment, dining area and a sink. If there is a need to equip full-fledged housing with everything you need, then the size should be increased by 2-3 times.

The process of making a motorhome trailer

Work order

  1. Remove the side from the trailer.
  2. They clean the chassis, paint it with an anti-corrosion compound.
  3. If there is a sufficiently strong base, the logs and the lower frame of the frame are fixed directly on it, if it is absent, then the frame is welded from metal pipe 50 * 25 mm.
  4. The bottom strapping is carried out from a bar 50 * 50. The side elements are connected to each other using lags. Lags are placed at a distance of every 20 cm. Metal corners are used to connect them to the timber.
  5. Cover wooden elements linseed oil in 2 layers.
  6. Insulation plates are placed in the space between the lags.
  7. Cover the base with 12 mm plywood, fixing it with self-tapping screws.
  8. Go to the frame racks. The beam is connected to bottom strapping using corners and screws. After that, the upper strapping is performed.
  9. Cover the entire structure with linseed oil.
  10. In places where windows should be according to the plan, beams and racks are installed from a bar.
  11. The sheathing starts from the inside. Plywood is attached to galvanized self-tapping screws every 25 cm along the perimeter of the sheet.
  12. Grind the inner surfaces using a grinder. Cover with varnish.
  13. Outside, the sheets are treated with linseed oil.
  14. Insulation is placed in the cavities between the frame racks, the frame is sheathed with sheets of 10 mm plywood, which are pre-coated with drying oil on both sides.
  15. The door is made of timber and plywood sheets. The door is installed on galvanized hinges.
  16. Insert windows. A simple solution is Plexiglas sheets.
  17. A self-made mobile home is sheathed with galvanized steel sheets. Self-tapping screws are used as fasteners, they are screwed around the perimeter at a distance of every 10 cm. The corners of the trailer are sheathed with a corner.
  18. The joints of the sheets with each other and the corners are treated with a sealant to prevent water from entering the structure.
  19. It remains to make the roof and roof. It is necessary to cover it with corrugated board, fix the sheets on galvanized self-tapping screws.

Internal layout

The walls, ceiling and floor are already sheathed, so all that remains is to paint or varnish them. If the size of the building allows, the shower and the bathroom are equipped with a separate room. Are being erected frame partition hang up the door. All the remaining space is divided into zones: a bedroom, a recreation and eating area, a kitchen. You will need to install sockets for electrical appliances, it is important not to forget about high-quality ventilation for a home on wheels.

Furniture

To save space, transformable furniture is installed inside the trailer. For example, they do it on their own or purchase a folding table, a sofa bed. In the upper part of the walls, shelves are mounted in which things will be stored, kitchen dishes, clothes.

Useful little things

What else is worth knowing before you start making a motor home:

  1. For the outer sheathing of the frame of a trailed motorhome, you can use not only galvanized steel, but also a professional sheet.
  2. If it is not possible to organize the ventilation system, you can cut small holes in the doors and close them. mosquito net... If there are opening windows for ventilation, then this is not required.
  3. In order for the mobile home to serve for a long time, the condition of the casing must be monitored, the metal must be painted if necessary.

The process of creating a mobile home on your own is quite laborious, it requires financial investments, a waste of time and effort. Therefore, proceed with it with full confidence that you will be able to independently develop a project and bring it to life.

A mobile home is a type of transport that is both housing and a means of transportation. This kind of housing gained its popularity at the beginning of the last century.

By standards, a mobile home should be able to accommodate eight people. Each tenant has its own sleeping place, there is also small kitchen... Other amenities and equipment may vary depending on the specific model, but in most cases there are also:

In more expensive models there is a bathroom, consisting of (often replacing a chair, which gives several additional meters of free space), a washbasin and a shower. Sometimes mobile homes are equipped with showers.

Note! In a motorhome, the driver's and passenger's seats are movable, as a result of which, when parked, they turn into an addition to the living space. The tail is often equipped with separate room with U-shaped furniture.

Story

The series production of mobile homes began in the last century, although some historians believe there were earlier homemade counterparts. They were small vans equipped to accommodate people (mainly pastoralists).

The first mobile home mounted on a conventional car chassis was introduced in 1938 by Jennings.

Varieties of mobile homes

There are several classifications of motorhomes. So, according to the design features, they are distinguished:

Depending on their purpose, they are divided into:

  • those that are used as long-term / permanent housing;
  • those that are used for travel.

In the first case, more comfortable conditions take place, while often moving structures are extremely rarely divided into their own living space and a cabin.

Categories

Let's take a closer look at each of the categories.

C-class

Small houses for short trips. Usually made on the basis of SUVs, so at night the cabin can be in a double bed (if desired).

B-class

The only difference between it and the C-class is the berth - it is stationary and located at the tail of the vehicle. It is very popular among young couples (at least in America).

A-class

Such houses, outwardly similar to a regular bus, are the most comfortable and, therefore, the most expensive. They are built on the basis of trucks, therefore, from the point of view of transport classification, they belong to category "C".

They are distinguished by a large windshield, a fixed driver's seat and retractable partitions that form different zones and separate berths. Moreover, such structures are autonomous, equipped with a generator, have gas and a large supply of water.

Several additional categories can be distinguished.

About the name

The term "motorhome" (another name is "camper") often refers to an automobile caravan.

Note! Campers are called B- and C-class trailers, while mobile homes are exclusively A-class models.

It is also worth noting that in some countries, without exception, motorhomes are called vinebago.

It will take a lot of time and effort to transform a car into a motorhome, as well as the appropriate equipment.

Note! First, you should study this issue from the point of view of legislation. Self-made RVs are perceived differently by different registering organizations, and it will be frustrating if the transport ends up being illegal.

Stage 1. First, the number of residents is determined and, based on this, a vehicle and internal "filling" are selected. A detailed design plan is drawn up - this can be done on paper, but it is better to use a computer.

Stage 2. Next, the car body is cleaned. If dents have been identified, they are removed and the peeling paint is peeled off. Several windows (if there were none) in the building are equipped for lighting and fresh air supply.

Step 3. Cut vents and valves for gas supply. All areas of "bare" metal are coated with a primer to protect against corrosion and aggressive environmental influences.

Stage 4. The house is finished with heat-insulating material.

Note! To do this, you need to use exclusively quality materials, it is highly undesirable to save. In addition, the material from which the hardware (metal fasteners) is made should be similar to the metal of the car body - this is for additional protection against rusting.

Stage 5. The inner surface of the motorhome is finished.

  • carpet covering;
  • moisture resistant plywood.

Thick panels with stuffed strips for furniture installation are inserted into the side walls. It is characteristic that at first it is better to align the ceiling, and only after that move on to the walls.

Step 6. After installing the furniture, you should take care of the water supply. To do this, you can install several canisters of water under the sink and install small pumps. In addition, large tanks can be installed - for example, for taking a shower.

Note! Do not forget about waste water- for this, another tank is installed. A common garden structure can be used as a toilet.

Step 7. For cooking and heating, as noted earlier, it is better to use propane gas. The balloon is located in the lower part of the body, as well as an additional vent for ventilation. This can be explained quite simply: the weight of propane is greater than that of air, therefore, in the event of a leak, such safety measures will prevent unfortunate consequences.

Stage 8. All that remains is to take care of the power supply. The best option- powerful accumulator battery equipped with an external charging outlet.

Mobile home from an old trailer

Our trailer-trailer costs about 500,000 rubles. The amount is impressive, so if there is an opportunity to purchase an old car trailer, then you can build a small motorhome with your own hands. This will require:

  • trailer (always with a sturdy chassis);
  • wooden elements (slats, bars, wagon boards);
  • plywood;
  • metal profile (for the roof);
  • fittings made in the same style;
  • a set of appropriate tools.

Manufacturing technology

Such a motorhome will be a trailer with a rear end. By the way, it is better to make the bed for the entire width of the structure - this way it will connect the side walls and thereby increase the rigidity. The bay window will be manufactured later and equipped with an individual unit. The door is installed in the Dutch style - it will consist of two halves.

Stage 1. The trailer is disassembled, the chassis is thoroughly cleaned and covered with anti-corrosion paint. From pine boards a frame is constructed, props are cut out in appropriate places.

Stage 2. A frame is constructed from slats with a section of 2x2 cm, an oak strip with a section of 3x3 cm is additionally installed in each corner. From above, the frame is tied with a horizontal strip.

It is advisable to use lining of various thicknesses:

  • for side walls - 6 mm;
  • for front and back - 19 mm.

Note! For thermal insulation, you can lay the lining in two layers.

Stage 3. The floor takes cover plywood sheets... For the roof, poplar beams are used - they are screwed along the frame with a step of 30 cm. Plywood is fixed on the beams, on top of which a moisture-resistant material and a small-section metal profile are spread.

Stage 4. There will be only one window in the body (if the door is not taken into account) - in the upper part of the back wall. It is desirable to make the window in the form of a bay window.

The door lock in such structures is located at the bottom, but you can put another one - additional one - at the top. In addition, the door is equipped with a small casement window.

Stage 5. It is recommended to equip a table that can be pulled out from under the bed (as was once the case in Great Britain trains). For this, special lockers are formed under the bed. By the way, the lower space can also be used as a sleeping place.

In addition, shelves and a removable staircase are built from wood.

Letter of the law

No additional permission is required if the motorhome dimensions do not exceed:

  • 400 cm high;
  • 255 cm wide;
  • 100 cm in length (excluding the part that does not protrude beyond the trailer).

If the dimensions are larger, then the motorhome is transported according to special rules (flashing lights, escort, etc.). Of course, this only applies to trailers.

Business organization on mobile homes

In the construction of motorhomes, it is possible to organize own business... There are four options for developing such a business.

Option number 1. Manufacturing of houses for sale for summer holidays or residence in the country. This will not require serious material costs, since the houses will be of a simplified design - for example, without insulation.

Option number 2. Rent out mobile homes. It is relative new business, but for everything new you can take very expensively. The number of motorhomes in this case is growing as the customer base grows.

Option number 3. Making mobile eateries or convenience stores.

Option number 4, it is also the most interesting. It consists in the creation of a car park and its further use as a hotel. The main thing here is to divide the trailers into budget, premium and middle class.

Video - DIY home on wheels

Hello dear friends! Well, who among us does not like to sit by the fire on the bank of the river with a barbecue and cognac on a warm summer evening? Already salivating) And then how to spend the night in a tent ... But humanity is more and more striving for civilized rest. Even alone with nature, we no longer part with the benefits of city life. Today we are talking about a mobile home. Meet the trailer cottage!

What a beast

This is a fully equipped RV that clings to a car... As a rule, inside it there is a kitchen, bedroom, living room, bathroom, shower room. All this can be placed using multifunctional transformable furniture, as well as competent planning.

There are not many offers on the sale of trailers on the modern market. Foreign representatives represent the lion's share. On the Russian market, residential caravans are made in units, but they do not come close in comparison with Western models.

In the west, campers have been making for a long time, hence the experience. Our culture of caravanning is just developing. That is why in Russia you can often see homemade motorhomes converted from a light trailer.

crazy hands

A huge assortment of building materials allows any artisan owner of a light trailer to create his own summer cottage on wheels. Indeed, there is nothing tricky here, you just need to turn on your ingenuity.

As a basis, we will take an ordinary light trailer with a slightly enlarged body. The size of the body is 240 x 120 cm. To begin with, a frame is made from a 50x50 mm bar. Then the frame is sheathed with a galvanized sheet of metal, from which the corrugated board is made.

It is advisable to insulate the distance between the lags with at least foam, then the heat inside the motorhome will be kept like in a thermos. Internal cladding can be made to your taste: wood, plastic, lining, plywood and other materials.

It would also be nice to separate the bedroom from the kitchen. To do this, in the back of the booth, you need to put a partition, leaving about 190 cm for the bedroom.It all depends on the height of the vacationer. In the sleeping area, the entire area will be occupied by a mattress. On the partition above the location of the legs, you can hang comfortable storage cabinets and even hang a TV, since we are talking about civilization)))

On the side of the kitchen, you can place a small built-in refrigerator, gas stove and a small sink with a washstand. And over them also hang boxes for groceries. The space under the countertop can be used to store a gas cylinder, water

Yes, I almost forgot about the doors and windows. There are also options here, and they are also from human life. Sometimes they are made like at home plastic, but only small. There is an option to find windows in a company dealing with garage doors. Have you seen such windows as portholes? And you can insert roller shutters or roller shutters into doorways. They can also be ordered from windows.

A roof rack can be placed on the roof, which can also be multifunctional. It can carry various loads, put on it an aerodynamic autobox, bike racks with bicycles, and whatever. You can also attach a device to it and use it as a sun and rain shade.

And if you also adapt some kind of awning to this visor and fix it with a peg in the ground, you get an additional wall. And if you make three of them, you get an additional room.

In general, here who has enough imagination and opportunities. But the idea is clear, I hope. The advantages of such campers are that there is no need for additional categories, but we stand them on the basis of an ordinary light trailer with a total weight of up to 750 kg; they are relatively inexpensive. See photos of examples of such motorhomes.

Questions with the traffic police

There can be only two questions:

  1. Category of rights.
  2. Whether a homemade camper is considered a design change.

The answer to the first one can be found in, we have already examined this question in detail. We have already partially answered the second question on the page:. But let's add more: If you do not change supporting structure, the camper itself that you are setting up is a fixed cargo - a container. And this is completely legal, especially since you do not go beyond the permissible dimensions.

Ready-made solutions

These trailers can be safely called mobile homes. Their size can be up to 12 meters. They can be compared to an expensive yacht, only on wheels. The interior will necessarily have at least a double bedroom with functional furniture, a living room with a sofa bed and a table, a bathroom, a shower, a full kitchen with a refrigerator.

Optionally, such a cottage trailer will be equipped with a gas heater, generator and air conditioning system. There are models with transformable walls that expand the interior space at the time of parking.

How to choose

Choosing a motorhome is a very difficult task. Here both the technical part of the choice and the aesthetic one will be combined at once. From the technical point of view, you will need to look at all the suspension mechanisms, brake system and the general technical condition of the chassis. For this, it is better to consult a specialist.

Also, on the technical side, you need to check the operation of all devices inside the house. This is a refrigerator, stove, water heater, climatic equipment and everything else that should work.

Check the condition of interior decoration, upholstery upholstered furniture, the work of furniture mechanisms and transformation mechanisms. Remember, this is not ordinary apartment, here you will not just change the wallpaper and the sofa. Finishing elements are made specifically for this interior and others will be difficult and expensive to do.

Where can I buy

I think the first step is to look at the ads on Avito. On the avito website, sellers offer campers all over the country. Most of the offers of used motorhomes are in Moscow and St. Petersburg, by the way, they are often used there as a mobile office. There are even more offers on the car markets of Belarus. They get there directly from the countries of the European Union.

Price

The price for a used trailer starts from 100 thousand rubles. Depends on equipment and year of manufacture. A more or less decent camper can be bought starting from 300-400 thousand. Well, then, you understand, the more expensive, the more functional and younger. Price homemade house on wheels can start at $ 500, not counting the platform itself. The trailer itself on the secondary market can be purchased cheaper.

Many lovers of free rest dream of traveling in a mobile home, so as not to be dependent on purchasing tickets, booking hotels and being tied to one point during the entire vacation. A mobile home is both a home and a vehicle. It allows you to travel with maximum comfort and stop wherever you want on the road. In addition, it can be used as a dwelling in the country or during the construction of a house.

Varieties of mobile homes

A mobile home can be purchased today at finished form, although it is quite an expensive pleasure. But it is much more interesting and cheaper to make it with your own hands from the old vehicle by re-equipping its interior or making such a motorhome practically from scratch, not counting the basics. For this, in addition to the "wheels" themselves, you will need not only funds for re-equipment and a variety of tools, but also certain skills of such work, as well as a lot of effort and free time.

Attention! Before investing in the re-equipment of a vehicle, you need to find out all the nuances of its registration in the relevant authorities in order to avoid any problems during registration. Otherwise, it is unlikely that it will be possible to use such transport for travel, and it will settle as a dead weight somewhere in the country.

A decent-sized mobile home can come from a large van, but such a mobile home is too expensive a vehicle. Among budget options, quite suitable for those who like to craft whatever they want with their own hands, there are three most convenient ones. So, a mobile home can be made from:

  • Gazelles;
  • old bus;
  • trailer with a sturdy chassis.

House from the car Gazelle

To implement any of these three options, in addition to the presence of the vehicle itself, which will be taken as a basis, a plan for the future motorhome will be required, at least in a schematic form. Such a plan will take into account all the design features and plan a living area with maximum comfort for finding there. It can be simply drawn on paper or done on a computer, if that's more convenient.

Internal communications of a mobile home

Without electricity, water and gas, life in a mobile home can hardly be called comfortable. A rechargeable battery and a charger are usually used to provide the room with electricity. The wiring inside must be thought out in advance. Do not forget about the external connector to charge the battery, which are of different capacities. The most suitable battery capacity also needs to be calculated in advance, taking into account the load and the travel distance.

Interior design of a mobile home

For heating a room, they are often used gas cylinders... Gas will also be convenient for cooking, which is much more profitable in terms of consumption than a stove from electricity. The presence of a kitchen in such a house implies the installation of a hood over the stove in it and the organization common system ventilation, which is especially important when using propane.

Advice. You should not undertake independent gasification and power supply of the premises in the absence necessary knowledge and experience, it is better to entrust such work to professionals. The safety of people in the motorhome directly depends on how competently they are carried out.

The kitchen will not be able to function even without water, which is usually stored in containers where it is lowered submersible pump to feed it to the tap. To drain the used water, a reservoir is also used, which is attached either indoors or outside. If desired, the mobile home can also be equipped with a small shower. But the usual bathroom in a mobile home cannot be made; a dry closet is used in this capacity.

RV kitchen area

As for furniture, it is better if all of it in a mobile home is practical and compact, because there is not too much space for placing it. Variants of reclining berths, sliding tables and the like organization of space can be used. And all this must be securely fastened to the walls in order to ensure safety when moving. Furniture for arrangement can be purchased ready-made, but for a person with hands it is easy to make it yourself, taking into account the size of the room, and make a sofa and chairs, for example, from car seats.

It is quite possible to equip the interior space in a mobile home, and all this can be done on your own. But before that you need to prepare the room. Depending on which option is taken - a minibus or a trailer, there will be differences in the stages of work required for the conversion.

Mobile home from Gazelle or old bus

Re-equipment of a minibus begins with cleaning the body from upholstery and seats, after which they do various holes- under windows, ventilation, for gas supply.

Mobile house from the bus

Then work on the arrangement of the residential area is performed in the following sequence:

  • even out the dents on the inner surface, then primer all open metal parts of the body to prevent corrosion on them;
  • the inner surface of the future house, including walls, floor and ceiling, is covered with thermal insulation;
  • on top of the insulating material, starting from the ceiling, moisture-resistant plywood or carpet is laid.

Upon completion of these works, electrification and gasification of the premises, kitchen and bathroom equipment, furniture installation are carried out. For reliable installation of furniture, plywood of a larger thickness is attached to the walls than on the floor or ceiling, or separate reinforced strips are placed to fix it. And, of course, if necessary, you need to put in order the chassis and engine of the Gazelle or the old bus, then such a house will become truly mobile.

Trailer-based mobile home

Here, unlike a house made from a minibus, the work is somewhat different. First you need to protect the chassis from corrosion by cleaning and painting them. Then you will have to build the floor, walls, ceiling and roof, acting in the following sequence:

  • put plywood of sufficient thickness on the frame, surround the outer edge with a bar and fasten with bolts;

Trailer-based home flooring

  • lay the beams on the floor, fixing between them thermal insulation material and cover it all on top with plywood;
  • for the construction of walls, timber and lining are used, not forgetting in the process of work to make openings for windows and doors, as well as technological holes for the entrance and exit of various communications;
  • for the construction of the roof, install the rafters, sheathe them with plywood, covering them with moisture-resistant material on top;

Building walls

  • after laying the electrical wiring, make thermal insulation of the walls, then closing the fiberboard on top;
  • for guard wooden walls prime them inside and out, and then paint them in two layers;
  • install a door and windows, additional interior decoration may be required.

Upon completion of these works, you can also think about gasification, water supply, organizing a kitchen and a bathroom, installing furniture. Then all that remains is to put on the fenders and headlights that the trailer comes with, and the mobile home is ready to travel.

Be sure to obtain permits before setting off in your RV

Traveling in a mobile home, of course, is very convenient. However, before starting construction, decide for yourself whether you can independently master all the work, because they will require quite a lot of effort, money and skills.
