The loft style is special, unlike any other. At the first glance at a room with an industrial character, even an ignorant person will unmistakably determine the direction of the design. To truly embody this style in the room, it is not enough to make repairs taking into account the characteristic concept, arrange typical furniture from the store.

A loft requires a special approach. It is the filling of the room that is chosen especially carefully. You can make home furnishings to order or make loft-style furniture with your own hands. Consider what things will ideally fit into an extraordinary design.

Typical features of loft furniture

The main feature of the direction: compliance with the attic informality. Indoors, as in an inhabited production workshop, a pampered aristocrat should be uncomfortable. The ordinariness in the design of the space is completely denied. Used by the brave non-standard solutions. Unusual shape or content is a great choice.

Wherein, Beautiful design furniture conquers. In the hands of a skilled craftsman, even rubbish from a landfill can turn into a fashionable work of art. Pieces of wood, leather, jeans, skillfully combined together, create a completely non-trivial thing.

Loft items are striking in their massiveness, masculinity. Even coffee table seems like a giant. This is not gross rudeness, but gross elegance. This is because a room with a loft design must be spacious, high ceilings.

Not only the monumentality of things attracts attention. They are special from any angle. Subjects obey the classics of the genre, but they are not alien to originality. This applies to shapes and details.

Various physical defects are often used as decoration elements:

  • scratches;
  • potholes;
  • holes;
  • natural imperfections of materials.

The loft is subject to the principles of minimalism. Practicality prevails here, rejection of unnecessary things. Any object strictly fulfills the function assigned to it. Clothes, despite their non-standard appearance, are comfortable.

Materials used

The roots of the loft go back to the beginning of the 20th century. Abandoned industrial premises in the vastness of America were mastered for housing. The savings in building construction were not the only ones. The arriving tenants also did not have the opportunity to show off. Therefore, the furnishings were ascetic, in line with the surrounding space.

Furniture was rarely bought for new homes. We used what we could find:

  • old items from the landfill for rework;
  • chunks various materials for hand-made production;
  • cheap raw materials for creativity.

Often in loft interiors you can find vintage things, remade "with a soul". Given the small number of items, a lot of attention is paid to each of them. Even from simple materials you can make masterpieces. Especially if a person has non-standard thinking, a creative streak.

Modern furniture in the interior of the loft is rarely made of things from the trash heap. Most often, there are expensive designer items. If there is a desire, skills in working with tools, it is easy to make unique furniture from available tools.

Mainly used:

  • wood (pallets, scraps of building materials, various stumps, driftwood);
  • metal (pieces of pipes, metal sheets, wire, fittings, staples, rivets);
  • glass (full-size sheets, less often trimming);
  • dense fabric (jeans, ropes, leather).

In the manufacture of furniture, one material is rarely used. More often it is a harmonious combination.

Color and texture

To create a style that perfectly matches tradition, you need to consider color range... White, gray black, terracotta are the most preferred for a classic loft. Use colors of moderate intensity. Most often these are natural shades. Wood furniture is a priority.

Particular attention is paid to natural wooden color and texture. Raw materials are used as much as possible. Wenge is preferred, but other options will fit perfectly. Natural contrast is a good accent. Pattern with veins, annual rings, knots and hollows - the best choice to create an original thing.

Other materials are also trying to save natural look... Unpainted metal with sloppy chipping, clear glass with no decorations, rough cloth or thick leather are good allies for wood. Each material retains its individuality, natural look. The objects are given originality with the help of form, external appearance.

In the interior, accents are not excluded. Color is rarely used for this. Especially, bright options... Most often it is texture, unusual content.

Approximate filling of rooms with furniture

In a loft style, a single room is often decorated. This is a spacious "box" without partitions. In a new housing stock, the studio type of premises is often found. The so-called "free layout". However, the square of the housing must correspond to the chosen direction. A studio of 20-30 meters in a loft style will not look very good.

Preferably a room of 40-50 squares with high ceilings in an ordinary urban high-rise building or a large space in country house. Perfect option to maintain the desired atmosphere of the direction - loft apartments. V Lately such options are found in the real estate market.

Living space is not divided into rooms unnecessarily. Furniture or transparent partitions are used to delimit the space. Sleeping place can be separated with a screen or fabric canopy. Not used in the interior bedside tables, the walls in the bedroom area are not cluttered with shelves and other furniture.

The living area is usually represented by a massive sofa, coffee table, storage rack. The technique is placed along the wall without the use of impressive furniture structures.

The kitchen is often equipped minimum amount furniture. Discard the top tier of cabinets in the work area. Free space is left open or a small number of open shelves are used.

The hallway is rarely separated from the common space. Have front door install a hanger on a leg or equip a metal console. They fix a mirror without a frame on the wall or install a large floor version.

It is advisable to place the storage area separately. This could be a closet in the closet or under the stairs (if there is one). In extreme cases, a large cabinet is installed that does not violate the idyll.

Create an interior in industrial style not as difficult as it seems at first glance. Viewing a photo of loft-style furniture will help you better understand what kind of filling is suitable for obtaining a stylish design.
