Most summer residents try to use imagination and improvised means to make life more convenient and comfortable. Many at one time adapted car rims for frying kebabs. By themselves, they do not look very aesthetically pleasing, and, despite all their advantages, they are not very convenient to use. But it is possible, using this good idea and skillful hands, to make a comfortable hearth, where you can safely sit with children, communicate comfortably and cook delicious and fragrant dishes with pleasure.

First of all, you need to decide on a place for the hearth. For the comfort of vacationers, it is possible to provide for the presence of benches around it.

After the place is chosen, it is necessary to carry out the markup. Put the disk in the place of your choice, step back the required distance from its edges, taking into account the size of the facing stone and the gap between the disk and the masonry for air circulation. Start building the foundation. Remove the sod to a depth of about a spade bayonet along the marking line. Make a sand cushion and spill it with water for better compaction.

From above, the masonry and the distance between it and the disk were covered with limestone, while leaving a small distance so that, if necessary, the entire disk could be reached.


The author also welded small pieces of the profile (about 10 cm) to the disk to install skewer or pot holders in them. Painted them with heat-resistant paint against corrosion. Great solution a removable grate has also become, which will allow you to freely clean the hearth from ash.


When I bought my SUV, I discovered that there was a “killed” spare tire in the trunk (they forgot to tell me about it before buying). I didn't know what to do with her and left her lying in the trunk until one day it occurred to me interesting idea- make a brazier out of it. I didn't know how to weld metal, so I had to get creative, making sure that any components used for assembly could withstand the heat (i.e. no nickel or zinc plating).
Here is a list of tools and materials that I personally used, but this project is easy to adapt to individual individual preferences. The base can be made from wooden pallet or other lumber, and if you have no desire to make it at all, then the brazier can be poured with concrete, and the height can be adjusted using a piece of pipe of the desired length. In general, there are many options.

The hardest part of the job






Without a doubt, this is the most unpleasant part of the job - removing the rubber from the disk. After watching a few videos and trying to do everything according to theory, I ended up just taking an electric hacksaw, cutting the bead of the tire, and then somehow removed it with a hairpin and a long screwdriver.
After removing the rubber from the disc, I took it to the local sandblaster, where I was allowed to process it myself. In time, it took about 11 minutes, and cost less than 600 rubles (800 rubles if the work is done by the master).

Details and painting









I purchased all the necessary components from a local hardware store. I bought a pipe and cut it there. Pipe flange to be installed on wooden base, you do not have to modify, because here we will use set screws desired diameter. But the flange that will attach the disk to the pipe should have holes of a slightly larger diameter (they will have to be drilled) so that bolts with a wider head fit into it.
Next comes the painting. Personally, I used a special Rustoleum High Heat paint. The coating is applied according to the same principle as with any other spray paint. I painted all the details in two layers. I wrapped the wheel bearings with paper before painting so they wouldn't clog with enamel.

Preparing the foundation














The disk itself is quite heavy, so the base must also be quite massive. I wanted to make it the same weight as the disc, while still being compact, so I decided to use 100x100mm bars. I cut them with a saw so that the base ends up square.
I then drilled holes in the ends of the bars using a pre-drilled wood guide plate. Ideally I would like to use drilling machine so that the holes are exactly the same, but since I did not have one, I took conventional drill. I then threaded the threaded rods through the holes and then sanded the finished base.
Then I put gaskets on the threaded rods, twisted the washers on top and cut off everything superfluous with a grinder. After that, I drilled (and sanded) holes for the set screws on the top and for the wheels on the bottom.
In the end, it remains only to cover the base with impregnation and a layer of protective varnish.

To fasten the pipe flange to the disk, I used plain head bolts (the widest possible diameter). It is necessary to make sure that the bolt heads touch the central rim of the disc. It may seem that this mount is rather weak, but as soon as I tightened the nuts, it became clear that the design does not give backlash. I closed the hole in the pipe with a special plug to fit the size so that the ash did not get inside. I also treated the cap with high temperature paint.
The pipe is screwed into the flange from one end, and into the base flange from the other. The base flange is fixed with bolts and washers. I also covered them with paint.

I used the valve hole on the disc to attach a hook to it, after which I attached a carabiner to it - you can hang various auxiliary tools on it (tongs, brush, spatula).
Finding grills of the right size proved to be problematic, but I searched the Internet and found the right options. One grill should be compact enough to fit inside and hold charcoal, and the other wide enough to fit on top and hold food. In principle, one grate may be enough, since coal can be stacked directly on the metal of the disk (only if it is stainless steel or ordinary steel, and not zinc or galvanized metal), but I thought that coals could fall out through the holes from below and spoil the wooden base.

As a person who has not yet learned how to weld metal (but would very much like to), I aimed to create enough robust design with the help of improvised means, and I think I succeeded. If during the test run and firing, small defects in the weld are detected, then they are eliminated after the furnace has completely cooled down, and the run is repeated in a day.

Such a stove is suitable for use in small rooms, for example, in a bathhouse or garage. For its manufacture, wheels from a truck of the KrAZ-255B type are needed. You can use wheels from UAZ or GAZelle.
