How to straighten a wing on a car yourself. Advantages of using a magnetic cape when repairing an auto. Is vacuum restoration possible at home

During the operation of the car, scratches, chips and dents appear on the body. The reason for their appearance can be both negative factors environment and sloppy driving. Chips and scratches are painted over. Repair and pulling out dents on the machine is performed using different methods and devices to eliminate metal jams.

Before straightening a dent on a car with your own hands, you need to know what types of damage exist. Dents on a car have different shapes and degrees of damage. Small defects usually appear on the roof and hood of the car due to hail, and small stones... Medium to large metal creases are a direct result of careless driving. Such dents on the car body can have a complex shape.

If the paint at the site of a large crease is covered with cracks and began to fall off, then, in addition to removing the dent, it will be necessary to restore the paintwork. Otherwise, on the part of the body where damage has occurred, foci of corrosion will form.

Ways to remove simple dents on a car

Repair of small dents, performs without repainting the damaged area. The defect is corrected using the PDR (paintless dent repair) technology, that is, without repainting the part being repaired. To perform work, apply:

  • Magnets. Allows to compensate for minor damage to the body. a small piece of lint-free cloth is placed under the device.
  • Glue applicator, the device is attached to the car body with glue. After the adhesive has dried, the specialist slightly pulls the applicator in his direction, thereby leveling the body with the hallway.
  • Suction cups allow you to correct simple defects. Vacuum method pulling removes metal creases formed after small stones hit the machine, hail and icicles fall.
  • Building hair dryer, with the help of a tool, eliminate defects of various shapes. Warm air is blown over the damage, after that, it is immediately doused with cold air from a can.
  • Hooks. These attachments are useful for pulling out hidden parts. They get boxes, and stamping from hidden areas of the body surface.
  • Bump stop. It has a cigar-like shape and is designed to align outwardly bent metal.
  • Rubber hammer. WITH back side the damaged area is installed with a rubber backing. Smooth the surface with gentle strokes. The method of removing dents on a car is applicable for both small and deep defects.

Also to the list necessary tools include a set for smoothing defects Pops a Dent. It includes nozzles, a plastic bracket, glue. Repairs are performed as follows:

  1. The center of the damaged area is thoroughly degreased.
  2. The adhesive is heated. To do this, insert the glue stick into the gun and connect it to the mains.
  3. The heated composition is applied to a rubber nozzle, glued to the center of the damage in a circular motion.
  4. After 2-3 minutes, a bracket is attached to the patch.
  5. The staple is screwed onto the nozzle with a lamb until the defect is eliminated.
  6. 5 minutes after the completion of the work, the device is removed from the body.

Usage special equipment Pops a Dent is advisable in case of frequent appearance of dents on the car body. If defects of this plan appear rarely, it will be more profitable to use other technologies for pulling out damage.

How to fix a heavy dent with your own hands

Impact pads are used to eliminate the deepest dent. different shapes, and hammers. Spoons are used as a counterfeit tool. They have different shapes and sizes, they are used depending on the type of damage.

In the center of the damage, the metal is thinner than at the edges. Before straightening, it is necessary to pull the iron to the center of the defect. To do this, use gas burner... Next, the dents are aligned.

After rough leveling of the defect, it is covered with a putty.

Repairing dents with a jack

Pull out the dent of the car body with your own hands, a jack will help. The device is used to repair deep damage to the fenders of a car.

Before carrying out work, dismantle the front direction indicator and headlight. From the side of the dent, the jack rests on the heel (a rubber bar is preliminarily placed under it), the device lever should rest against the opposite edge of the opening. The operation is stopped after the defect is straightened, and the damaged area is covered with a putty.

Removing dents on a car with a reverse hammer

Repairing dents with reverse hammer, is performed when the driver has difficult access to the place of damage, or the repaired parts cannot be dismantled. Such repair of body dents usually requires the subsequent painting of the restored part. To straighten a dent, do the following:

  • Clean, dry and degrease the surface to be repaired. Remove traces of corrosion.
  • One end of the hammer is attached to the center of the damage. The operation is performed using a special suction cup or an applicator.
  • Straightening is performed by gradually increasing impacts of the weight on the hammer handle.
  • After completing the restoration of the outside of the body, the hammer is disconnected.

An applicator or suction cup is only effective for straightening the body if the damage is minor. In the presence of deep and complex defects, the hammer is welded to the surface, or they cling to the technological holes using special hooks.

Straightening

The process of removing a dent on a car and repairing a local section of the body is called straightening. The work, with a certain amount of experience and time, is carried out with their own hands according to the following algorithm:

  1. Wash and dry the work surface.
  2. Degrease the damage.
  3. Car body repair.

Straightening of small lesions can be carried out without subsequent staining of the damaged area. With reverse hammers, hooks, construction hair dryer, suction cups and applicators, rubber hammers eliminate the defect.

If you need to fix a deep dent on a car, accompanied by creases, delamination paintwork and metal fracture, then use the following tool:

  1. Hammer and anvils of various shapes and sizes.
  2. Spoons.
  3. Jack.
  4. File.
  5. Welding machine.
  6. Grinding device.

The anvils are applied to the outside of the indentation, and a rough leveling of the surface is carried out from the center with gentle blows. Spoons act as a substrate for a percussion instrument, but they are used to eliminate defects that have appeared in hard-to-reach places... After leveling, the area to be repaired is inspected. If there are metal breaks, they are welded together. Excess bulges are removed with a file. Next, you need to putty the body to level work surface... The treated area is sanded, primed, painted and polished.

Correct putty

Before you putty the car body with your own hands, you need to prepare. This will help to avoid visible defects after painting the car:

  1. Grind and remove excess metal bulges.
  2. Degrease and clean the treated surface. In some cases, the operation is performed several times.
  3. Fill up the corrected area of damage by applying the filler evenly in several layers.
  4. After it dries, the surface is sanded. It is important to ensure that the putty layer is flush with the rest of the car body surface.
  5. Apply a primer in two layers.
  6. The surface is painted with a spray gun. Apply varnish and polish the surface.

Replacement of a part or part

In the presence of more serious damage, removing the dents will not help restore the integrity of the part. In this case, the body element, or its most severely damaged part, is replaced with a new one. When replacing, it is necessary to find a part identical to the one being replaced. If a certain area is replaced, then the patch is cut out of the same metal. Then it is welded to the part to be restored.

Minor damage to the body, chips, scratches and dents on the car can be repaired by yourself without repainting. The previously undamaged parts of the case are subject to restoration. If paint cracks, cracks and bends appear, repairs without painting will not work.

Fixing dents without painting is quite difficult if not practical experience... The article reveals the main points of this technology.

The content of the article:

Dents on a car that are not damaged by paint and varnish are more likely to damage aesthetics than cause real damage. However, the presence of one dent, and then the appearance of another can become more serious damage with a bench press.

When you can fix dents without painting

The paint and varnish coating, if this technology is used, must meet certain requirements... The whole process involves multiple manipulations associated with changing the shape. metal structure... The applied paint must be plastic and durable at the same time. includes in its composition compounds, the basis of which are polymers, which made it possible to increase the properties of the strength of the coating. As a result, PDR technology is more than relevant.

The paint on cars produced in the early 2000s will crack when the metal changes shape. In this regard, straightening the damage, one cannot do without applying a new layer of paint. PDR technology is not used if the paintwork is damaged, or restoration work has already been carried out in the place of deformation.

Only those dents that have a more or less integral structure, that is, a smooth shape, without kinks, are subject to restoration. Repair problems are caused not by the size of the dent, but by its depth. For example, a shallow dent on the hood, but large in diameter, is easier to straighten out than in the opposite case.

Despite the effectiveness of the system, it is not possible to restore the integrity of the surface with a very deep dent. In such cases, the metal is exposed to excessive stress, as a result of which its shape changes greatly, while, in most cases, the paint cracks, without the possibility of recovery.

The location of the dents and the presence of reinforcing ribs are of particular importance in neutralizing the consequences of damage. If a dent appears on an area of the body where it is impossible internal work, it is very difficult to remove the damage. These are mostly very small areas.

It is impossible to correct the situation in the event of a skew of the body. To do this, it is necessary to restore the integrity of the entire hull.

Body Dent Leveling Tools

The automotive market is quite rich, different kinds, professional devices... However, the cost of such equipment is quite high. Consider tools and equipment that are generally available and not high in price.

To warm up the paintwork, it is enough to use a hair dryer, normal or construction. This is required so that the paint is more flexible and does not crack. If it's summer weather outside, high temperature, then you can do without it.

Vacuum glue machine for dents

These devices are necessary in the absence of access to the inside of the damaged area.

The technology of vacuum hoods is relevant at the initial stage of restoring the integrity of the surface, when the size of the deformation is large enough. Suction cups are applied to carry out the work properly.

To stick the fungi to the damaged surface, a special gun filled with glue is used. All the necessary kit can be purchased at a hardware store.

To carry out manipulations to restore the concave surface, fungi are used. Their job is to stick to and tear off the surface. As an addition, you can use devices made, for example, from the legs of plastic chairs.

Using hooks

It is necessary to prepare hooks of different shapes and sizes. Hooks can be made from sturdy wire or sturdy reinforcement. The main thing is that the material is solid. Low hardness will not allow you to do the job properly, they will periodically bend. By increasing the length of the hook, you need to take care of its hardness. Great for this hardened steel... These devices are used when the inside of the body section is accessible through special holes.

Core application

Tools are used at the beginning of the repair work and at the end. You can use plastic or wood to make cores. Their shape should be different. Rounded for large dents. Small damages are corrected with blunt cores.

Restoring the integrity of the coating without painting

First of all, preparation is carried out. If there are special holes, then access to them is more free. This is necessary to insert the hooks. The damaged area must be wiped and heated with a hairdryer. Warm metal is more ductile, while paint cracking is almost impossible.

With a rounded core, the dent is processed around the perimeter. Kinks are also treated to reduce stress.

In case of significant damage, it is required to neutralize the main concavities. If it is possible to get close to the damage from the inside, then the treatment is carried out by hand. Otherwise, the hooks are engaged. If this option is not possible, then use adhesive technologies... First, fungi or suckers are applied.

Having removed the main dent, the local areas are processed with a core. After, it is necessary to use small fungi. The work process is quite simple. Having glued the fungus to the place of damage, letting the glue harden, it is necessary to rip it off. This is repeated more than once.

Hooks are required to complete the work. If access to the inside is not possible, the hooks cannot be used. These deformations are difficult to remove. It is possible to reduce their size only with the help of a core and glue method.

This method of repairing damage is quite complicated and requires a lot of experience. Theoretical knowledge alone is not enough. If there is a desire to learn, then you can train long and hard on the usual sheet metal by bending it in advance.

Passenger cars often get into small "accidents", as a result - the front fender is slightly dented or scratched. The breakdown is insignificant, but you will have to fork out to fix it in an auto workshop. But, if your car is repairable (and in most of your own Russian cars are specifically like that), then we recommend that you read this article. It offers tips on how to smooth out dents on the fender of a car on your own, and, as it should, save money.

Probably, most of you have sufficient theoretical background: they know what specific tools and materials are required to repair a car, and how to use them. Some, perhaps, even managed to get everything they needed in advance.

It's time to put theoretical knowledge into practice. For example, let's take a common and fairly widespread case - damage to the front wing. Obviously, the damage is different. From time to time, the wing happens to be so wrinkled and torn that even the most skilled straightener will not undertake to return it. But this is rarely the case.

Another situation is even more likely: we were driving along a zigzag forest road, gape a little - and touched a tree with a corner. Or they didn’t react to the “feet” that caught fire in front, and slightly touched the already stopped car. No matter how the blow, the ifars are intact, and there is a "bubble" on the wing, the exterior of the car is spoiled, and the traffic inspectors look sideways suspiciously: oh, for an hour, did you hit someone?

It is urgent to smooth out the dents on the front fender of the car. What does that require?

  • First, the jack. Not bad, hydraulic. But it is possible to do with the rack and pinion, such until now are equipped with most of the Russian cars.
  • Secondly, the jack must be supplemented with extension cords of different lengths: hydraulic - with thick-walled sections round pipe, rack and pinion - square, tightly put on a toothed rack. If you have not found square tube, it can be changed with 2 corners welded into a square. The longest extension cord should be 40-45 cm in size.
  • Thirdly, you need a straightening hammer and powerful support, as well as several pieces of solid strong wood blocks.

If all this is prepared, you can begin to work on leveling the dent.

First, remove the front wheel from the damaged wing. We will install a reliable support-stand under the jack of the jack. Next, we will place one suitable block under the wing on a stiffening rib next to the recess for the headlight, and place another block on the front shield of the car body, in other words, in the rear part of the wing.

We put a square extension pipe on the jack's rack (we will consider this option as more common), insert the jack with the extension between the bars and, working with the jack, as when lifting a car, we will expand the wing from the inside, stretching the fold. The "bubble" will begin to shrink on the eyes. And, perhaps, it will disappear completely, there is only a small dent on the lower flange of the wing. Here, in fact, comes the time of spotless straightening.

Applying support from the front side, you should adjust this dent by lightly tapping the hammer from the inside of the wing, without loosening the jack. Perhaps a small bubble remains on the decorative embossed wing strip. Yes, and there is a way out. It is necessary to wrap the wood strip with a rag, lay it exactly under the line and, hitting the strip with a hammer, remove the bulge.

In general, about the embossed strip - a special conversation, since no matter what part of the car body you straighten, this line will almost certainly be there.

The fact is that apart from decorative function it is also a stiffener. And if this edge falls into the straightening area, you need to start specifically with it. First, you need to edit, knock out the stiffener, bring the line to its initial state and only later straighten other sections. This, if I may say so, is one of overriding rules, a small "professional secret" that affects the quality of work.

Do not loosen the jack, as you have finished straightening - it happens that due to the residual elasticity, the wing can deform again. To avoid this, after finishing the work, pull up the jack one or two more clicks, seemingly overpowering this very elasticity caused by deformation. Now you can remove the jack.

Often, without any visible circumstances, on the wing of a car suddenly appears what the masters in their own jargon call a "lampoon": with the naked eye you can see that the wing is slightly swollen outward. If you press the bubble a little with your hand, it disappears, from time to time emitting a corresponding click (and therefore the "flap"). But at least some push on the bulge, and the wing is blown out again as before. And so it can go on indefinitely.

Such a disadvantage arises from the fact that the wing is stretched out, a certain amount of excess metal seems to have formed: it has nowhere to go, only to bend into a bubble.

Well, if the reason is clear, then it becomes clear how to cure. We remove the excess metal and “stretch” the wing. And here again the decorative line comes to the rescue. It is necessary to wrap the rail with a rag, rest it against the decorative line, and knock it down with a hammer so that the wing is pulled under the line. Often a couple of blows are enough to get rid of the "flap", the wing is again tight and stiff. This is the second "professional secret".

In the cases of wing deformation discussed above, straightening, as such, was practically not used: we stretched the wing with a jack, and only slightly corrected the metal on the ribs.

But there are times when the blow falls not on the end of the car wing, but on the side - as a result, a dent appears on the wing. Such a dent cannot be leveled by pulling alone. In this case, you will have to resort to straightening.

The essence of straightening is that the "excess" metal formed from stretching is moderately dispersed into a huge number of small bumps. The more such bumps there are, and the smaller they are, the better your job.

But, before you start straightening, you need to take into account one more rule: straightening must start from the edges of the dent, and move along a tapering spiral, ending in the center. This is the third "secret".

First you need to find where the dent ends. To do this, we will cross it with a straightening ratfile, and later we will begin to knock out the wing from the inside, using a hammer with a sharp beak and supports. When the straightening blade begins to remove the top of the bumps over the entire surface, in other words, when the metal is stretched, you can begin to level the dent. Here we will use a straightening "saw". And there is no need to be afraid that it will make holes in the metal: the thickness of the car wing is 0.5-0.6 mm, it is very difficult to remove such a layer.

And after the canvas, the surface should be smoothed with putty or solder. This could be the end. But after all, with all the straightening work, and even more so, using various kinds of lifting devices, safety issues are of particular importance .

It should be understood:

  • A lifted car must not be left on a jack - it is imperative to use reliable, sturdy stands. When installing the jack for extracting body parts, you need to make sure that it rests firmly and does not slip.
  • You only need to use a tool that is in good condition. Pay extra attention to the hammer attachment. The handle of the hammer must be smooth, free from burrs, cracks or chips.
  • When working, wear gloves or, at least, thread gloves.

That's all. Now you can correct and level out minor flaws and dents in the front wing of your own car. This will help you save your home budget, and at the same time grow in your own eyes, and in the eyes of your loved ones and friends. Better yet, don't get into accidents, even small ones.

Any damage to the bodywork is very unpleasant for the car owner. They not only significantly spoil the appearance, but also provoke corrosion processes. As a result, the owner has to completely paint his car. And if everything is a little better with scratches, then removing dents is quite difficult. However, if you know how it is done, you can save a lot and return the car to its previous aesthetic appearance.

There are several technologies for dealing with dents. They can be pulled out using coins, vacuum equipment, Pops-A-Dent technology, heating and cooling. Let's take a look at each of these methods.

Types of dents

The first step is to determine the type of deformation. These damages differ in magnitude. So, damage is considered deep, the depth of which is 10 millimeters or more. Often these dents do not have a clear oval shape.

Such defects cannot be eliminated on their own. Shallow damages are defects where the metal deflection is no more than 5 millimeters, and there is no damage on the surface of the paintwork. This defect can already be removed with your own hands at home or garage conditions.

Vacuum alignment

This is a special technology for pulling out dents without the need for staining. With this method, even serious dents can be removed in a matter of minutes. The technology implies the use of special vacuum suction cups, which can be used to level the surface of the body. This method allows you to remove large and shallow dents.

It is worth remembering that with this method you can fix only the dent itself, but not the consequences - it is impossible to completely eliminate the traces of an accident. Choosing a vacuum technology, you need to take into account that additional work will have to be carried out.

This technology is suitable only for straightening without painting (but provided that there are no cracks on the surface). If there are such defects, the roll-out metal surface may flake off. Such a part is unusable.

For this technology, it is necessary to purchase special suction cups for pulling out dents on a car. Straightening does not require direct and open access to the seamy side of the defect. It is lightweight and quick method... A suction cup is applied to the site of the defect, and a vacuum is created with the help of a compressor. Then, with a sharp movement, the dent is pulled out. Small defects easily eliminated in this way.

Pulling with CO2 canister and hair dryer

This technology implies the presence of a can of compressed carbon dioxide and an ordinary household hair dryer.

First, the dent is warmed up with a hairdryer. And then gas is sprayed onto the surface from a can. At this moment, the metal will instantly level out and return to its previous appearance. When the spraying process is finished, you need to wait a while and then wipe the damaged area.

coin defects

Naturally, regular coins are not needed here. Pulling out dents on a car in this way is similar to the principle of an impact puller or pull rod. The advantage of the technique is that you do not need to drill holes in the body. This method is very convenient in places where the metal is especially thin, and it is simply impossible to drill a hole. Work is easily done with your own hands in a garage.

So, what is its essence? The technology consists in soldering copper or bronze circles to the usual welding electrode... The size of the circle is like a coin. Then it is soldered to the body surface - it must be pre-cleaned. The coin circle is positioned so that it is close to the dent. Then, with the help of powerful pliers, the electrode is squeezed, and thus the dents are pulled out. When the place is leveled, the "coin" is heated locally and easily removed. It remains only to clean and paint the repair site.

Straightening with a magnet

This simple technology allows you to easily remove a dent from the surface of the body. It should be noted that before starting the repair, under the magnet, it is imperative to put soft materials... This will protect the paintwork surface from scratches. The magnet is directed from the edge of the defect to the center and pulled towards itself. In the case of shallow defects, the device will easily eliminate them. In this case, you do not need to paint the body.

Pops-a-Dent

These are special plastic devices, shaped like an ordinary brace with two "dimes" at each end. They are intended for local repair of dents in a home or garage. In this case, it is not necessary to paint the repair site. The fixtures are made of high quality plastic. It is not fragile, but it is not flexible either. For greater reliability, there are also stiffeners. They add elasticity to the structure. Price this kit is 450-500 rubles. You can buy it at any car store. Reviews of Pops-A-Dent are generally positive. Among the shortcomings, motorists note a small number of attachments.

The dent pulling kit itself includes three attachments with different diameters, which at the ends have a threaded screw. A lamb is screwed along this thread, with the help of which the dents are pulled out.

Special glue is applied to the rubber nozzles. It is included with accessories. The glue has a special formula - it is reliable, durable, but at the same time it is easy to remove it without damaging the paintwork. The attachment must be glued on the sides, as well as in the center of the defect. There are technological holes along the edges of the rubber nozzles - they were made for a reason. The moment the dent extractor is glued on, excess glue can escape through these holes. Then, after hardening, it will be able to apply additional force for fixation.

How to fix a bubble after a failed pull with the Pops-a-Dent method

It so happens that the owner of the car twists the lamb, and the result is a bubble. In this situation, the kit manufacturer has provided special pegs. They are made from unique materials on nanotechnology. The plastic of the peg is very elastic - it is designed to absorb the shock load.

This peg is needed when the dent is overtightened (for example, on the roof). A bubble forms. If you keep it in the center and not hit hard with a hammer, then the defect will bend. No defects remain from the peg on the surface. You can knock on it as much as you like, but it will not bend or split. As noted above, this method is used to pull out dents using glue. For application, the manufacturer added a thermal gun to the kit.

So, a stick of glue is installed in the gun and then they wait a little while the composition heats up. Then, using the trigger, it is squeezed out. The glue will work well. The pistol is made of sufficient quality, and its design is extremely simple.

How to work with the set

To remove a shallow dent without the need for painting with this kit, there are a few steps you need to take:

  • Pre-degrease the center of the defect. Next, the glue is manually driven into the gun and heated. When the composition heats up, it is squeezed out with a trigger. While the glue is hot, it is spread on a rubber nozzle. The latter is glued to the center of the dent. It is important to remember that the glue hardens quickly. At the moment of gluing the nozzle, it is screwed in clockwise as well as counterclockwise. The composition must protrude through the special holes that we talked about earlier. Then the nozzle is kept in place of the defect for a few more minutes until the composition has completely solidified.
  • To ensure the quality of the grip, the nozzle is rotated from side to side. If all is well, then put a plastic bridge through the hole in the center. Then the lamb is screwed on the thread. Together with the rotation, the defect will tighten. With each turn, the dent rises higher and higher. You need to twist it carefully so as not to end up with a bubble.
  • When the defect has leveled off, the device is kept on the surface for a few more minutes (so that the metal cannot go back). After 5 minutes, remove the nozzle. And if she is not removed, then they help her with a hairdryer. In this case, all the paint will remain in place.

Lever pull technology

This method is used more often than all others. But it should be noted that the technology is a little more complicated than all the previous ones. Before pulling out dents on a car, it is better to pre-practice on any other surfaces.

First you need to purchase a set of tools. The set contains about 40 different levers and hooks. Before starting repair work, ensure easy and free access to the defect site. Any third-party elements are carefully removed.

Work with the tool for pulling out dents is carried out only from the inside. To do this, pick up a hook with optimal length and gently press on the groove, thereby leveling the metal. This technology can be applied even after the classic straightening. Do not work with hooks if the car has been putty. There is a risk that the putty will simply fall off.

Conclusion

As you can see, pulling dents with your own hands is quite possible to carry out. This repair can be done in a garage without the need to visit expensive service and painting.

Many motorists who are involved in a minor accident, as a result of which the car body received dents, scratches and other defects, are looking for a way to properly align the wing. Let's consider step by step how to do it yourself, what tools and equipment are needed for this. In addition, many are interested in the questions of what a magnetic cape is, how it helps to protect the wing and other elements of the car.

Various Paintless Dent Removal Methods

Start off renovation work to restore the crumpled wing follows from the inspection of the existing defect. If the dent is not very deep, there are no sharp creases and the paint layer is not broken, there is no point in using traditional straightening, since this will damage the paintwork, the car fender will have to be repainted, and this will entail additional material and time costs. In such cases, it is advisable to apply one of the non-paint straightening methods. They are presented in the table.

Way Description
Using a magnet This requires powerful magnet, which must be moved from the edge of the dent in the direction of the center, while pulling it towards you. To avoid scratching the paintwork, you need protection: put a soft backing (fleece or flannel cloth) under the magnet
Using special levers PDR dent alignment technology is considered the most modern and allows you to remove dents of any size. Wing straightening in this way implies the presence of a special set of levers with a curved end of various shapes and lengths. The wing must be dismantled to gain access to the convex side of the dent. Straightening should be done with a hook of the appropriate length, while exerting gentle pressure on the defect. As a result, the metal will gradually recover.
Application of applicators To align the wing of the car, from the outside, you can use the applicators on the glue or vacuum technology... The damaged surface must be washed and degreased. In the center of the concave zone, applicators are glued with a special thermal compound. The glue hardens within a few minutes. The center of the dent is carefully pulled out, being careful not to overtighten. Special tools are used here: a mini-lifter or a bracket with a screw-in screw. After pulling is complete, remove the glue
Heating followed by cooling Straightening without painting can be carried out by heating followed by cooling. This method is completely do-it-yourself. Prepare a construction or assembly hair dryer and a can of compressed air... Warm up the area of the defect with smooth movements with a hairdryer, then direct a stream of air from the can on it. As a result of the sharp temperature drop, the dent will stretch out. If the defect is of medium size, then it must be heated in several places.

In cases where, when examining dents, scratches, bends and other damage to the paintwork are found, a traditional straightening and subsequent painting of the car wing is necessary.

Traditional straightening tools

This is a rather difficult and time-consuming process, which requires some skills and the necessary set of special devices and tools. To align the wing of a car with your own hands, you need to prepare:

  1. Straightening hammers with various strikers.
  2. Rubber and non-inertia hammer.
  3. Overhead stamps, supports and anvils for securing the wing.
  4. Impact blade for pulling metal.
  5. Straightening spoons for detaching crushed metal sheets.
  6. Sandpaper, sander;
  7. Files for pulling non-volumetric bulges;
  8. Spotter for aligning the wing by spot welding.

To align the wing of a vehicle, first of all, it must be laid out on a surface covered with padding polyester, batting, felt or any other material that softens impacts. While lightly tapping, make the required leveling of the surface using various hammers and correcting the impacts. If you have special tools, it is better to fix the wing.

When straightening the wing, it will be useful to protect other elements of the car, which is perfectly provided by the front magnetic cape with a cutout under the wing. A spotter will serve as a good help for wing straightening. it modern device, the principle of which is based on resistance welding. At the same time, heat is generated at the place of welding. The device acts pointwise, the dent is removed due to the work of the reverse hammer.

Wing painting and straightening by filling dents

If during the elimination of defects in the fender of the car old paint cracks or peels off, the surface will have to be painted. Painting a car fender is no different from painting other car structures.

  1. Putty is applied to the damaged area with a spatula in several layers until the wing surface is leveled. Each subsequent layer is applied after drying the previous one.
  2. After the last layer has hardened, the putty is rubbed sandpaper or a sander.
  3. The next layer, by spraying or using a brush, is applied with a primer.
  4. After that, the surface is painted with a spray gun or using paint brush... The finish enamel is protected by applying a layer of varnish and polishing the surface.
