Polypropylene pipes for cold and hot water supply. What pipes are best for water supply to an apartment? Polypropylene pipes for water

Home improvement or construction of a new one is not complete without a painstaking selection of materials. This applies to all aspects of construction, from the foundation to the weather vane on the roof. It is important to compare cost and durability, reliability.

It is reasonable to choose polypropylene pipes for cold and hot water supply, and for heating at the same time. Only in addition to the material, a specific type of pipe is selected for each task. Here the choice is unambiguous, but only if you understand the characteristics of the modifications polypropylene pipes.

What you need to know

Polypropylene is a polymer resistant to mechanical and chemical stress.

The practical advantage of polypropylene is its ease of installation. Diffusion welding is used to connect the elements.

The result is a one-piece, maintenance-free connection in strength that is not inferior to the material itself. This cannot be achieved by pressing or clamping fittings, as with metal-plastic or even welding in the case of steel pipes where the material becomes brittle at the junction of steel and seam.

The installation process involves the use special equipment- soldering iron. Where more important is the correct execution of the instructions for welding polypropylene than experience and skill. Installation of a water supply system using polypropylene pipes is easy to do with your own hands.

Advantages of polypropylene pipes:

  • Reduced material costs;
  • Durability - up to 50 years;
  • Corrosion resistance;
  • Mechanical strength;
  • Simple installation.

Disadvantages:

  • Large coefficient of thermal linear expansion (solved by reinforcing pipes with aluminum and fiberglass).
  • High oxygen permeability. Important for heating systems and hot water supply.

Characteristics of polypropylene

One name "polypropylene pipes" unites the family polymer materials and designs with a wide range of technical characteristics and covering a wide range of tasks.

To create pipes, use:

  • polypropylene homopolymer (PPH) for simple tasks, as a base material, first put into operation;
  • Block copolymer (PPB) with increased strength, but for low temperature lines and pipelines;
  • Static propylene-ethylene copolymer (PPRC, PPR) for hot and cold water supply and use in industrial highways and transport systems; '
  • Special polypropylene (PPs) as the most heat-resistant and durable material in the family.

For the organization of hot and cold water supply in residential and public buildings PPB, PPRC (PPR) and PPs polypropylene pipes are widely used.

The main division occurs according to operational characteristics such as withstand pressure and temperature of the conveyed medium. This is defined by the “PN” type marking with a numerical designation that defines the nominal operating pressure at a temperature of 20 ° C.

The standardized range includes pipes with the designation PN10, PN16, PN20, PN25 and PN32, withstands from 1.0MPa to 3.2MPa.

By design, pipes with uniform walls are distinguished, with aluminum reinforcement and fiberglass reinforcement. There are two more related to this important characteristics: oxygen permeability (oxygen diffusion rate) and thermal linear expansion of the material.

The last characteristic is the size. The standards specify the outer diameter and wall thickness, and this should be taken into account in calculations and in the design of communications where polypropylene pipes will be used. The outer diameter determines the overall dimensions of the system, the method of installation, and the thickness depends on the pipe design and its class.

The inner diameter is calculated based on the two above. For example, for PN10 with a diameter of 20 mm, the wall thickness is 1.9 mm, and for an aluminum or fiberglass-reinforced PN25 pipe with the same outer diameter of 20 mm, the wall is already 3.4 mm. Inner diameter, like throughput, is different.

The table shows the division of pipes by classes and designs and characteristics.

Standard range of OD sizes: 16 (1.6), 20 (3.4), 25 (2.3), 32 (2.9), 40 (3.7), 50 (4.6), 63 (5.8). Additionally, the wall thickness is indicated for reinforced pipes PN20 (25).

Fitting

For polypropylene pipes, a full range of fittings, shut-off and control valves and auxiliary mounting elements are produced. The standard set includes:

  • knee 90o;
  • tee;
  • stub;
  • through coupling;
  • ball valve;
  • coarse filter;
  • adapter fittings to threaded connection under the metal (with internal or external thread, American).

Using the entire available set of elements, systems of almost any configuration are assembled from polypropylene, taking into account the combination of materials. Manufacturers produce a set of fittings and adapters for each batch of pipes.

Choice

The marking and type of pipe for hot and cold water supply is determined by the operating conditions. The system pressure, peak values, water temperature are taken into account. However, there is an aspect that should not be categorically ignored already at the stage of acquiring materials.

Selected pipes and fittings must be from the same manufacturer and from the same batch... If there are not enough materials from one batch in a store or wholesale center, it is better to find another supplier.

The main argument in this case is the complete identity of the material of the pipe and fittings and the conformity of the dimensions.

Polypropylene formulations differ from manufacturer to manufacturer. Even if the differences are minor, this will affect the quality of the seams and the durability of the joints.

The second aspect concerns size. In the cold state, the fittings are not put on the pipe even with effort, only after the top layer of polypropylene has melted, so that the resulting excess will promote diffusion and soldering.

For cold water

For the cold water supply system, polypropylene pipes PN16 and higher are used. Reinforcement is unnecessary, since water heating is not expected to exceed 40 degrees, there is almost no thermal expansion.

It is allowed to use PN10 pipes for internal wiring, however, at the entrance to an apartment or house, it is equipped with a pressure-limiting reducer in order to avoid breakouts and deformation.

For hot water

Temperature hot water up to 85 ° C, and at the same time the linear expansion of the polypropylene pipe reaches 12-15 cm for every 10 meters. Reinforced pipes are used, reinforced with aluminum or fiberglass.

Reinforcement with aluminum is done in two ways. Over finished pipe perforated or solid foil is glued, and a thin layer of white or gray polypropylene is applied as a finishing layer, the task of which is only to protect the reinforcing layer and give an aesthetic appearance.

The second method involves dividing the pipe wall into two equal parts and gluing the foil between them. This does not give a gain in terms of the coefficient of thermal expansion, but with the deepening of aluminum, the declared durability and resistance to mechanical stress are higher.

The advantage of solid non-perforated aluminum is that it does not allow oxygen to pass through, the diffusion of polypropylene and fiberglass reinforcement reaches values of 600-900.

This aspect is important only if DHW system built on heat exchangers, and the water circulates in a closed circuit. For internal wiring in an apartment, it is better to use reinforcement with perforated aluminum or fiberglass, which will be cheaper.

Choose from PPRC (PPR) or PPs polypropylene pipes. PN20 pipes are used only with an installed pressure reducer capable of limiting the pressure. PN25 is able to withstand even water hammer and will be the best option.

Mounting

Welding of polypropylene is performed using special equipment - a soldering iron. This is a plate with a built-in heating element on a stand, on which nozzles for different diameters are fixed. For heating, a sleeve with a hole is used, for heating the fitting - a mandrel with a protruding branch pipe.

To prevent the molten plastic from sticking to the nozzles, they are coated with Teflon, and require careful handling, avoiding mechanical damage and contamination.

Polypropylene must be locally heated to 260 ° C, and then connect the parts. Due to diffusion, the material is mixed, and after solidification, a monolithic inseparable connection remains. The cleanliness of the elements at the junction and the correct heating mode determine the quality of the welding.

For fastening along the route, latch clips are used that hold the pipe, but without rigid fixation, which makes it possible to compensate for thermal deformation. By default, fasteners are needed from the side of a long section from the fitting at a distance of 5-10 cm.

The joints of polypropylene pipes are considered non-separable, so that hidden pipe laying is allowed, including with sewing in walls and pouring into a screed or a layer of plaster. However, it is more practical, even with hidden laying, to use special boxes recessed into the wall.

When figuring out how to choose polypropylene pipes for a water supply system, it is important to take into account not only characteristics common to all products of this type, but also features different types... It is also important to ensure that the components of the water supply system comply with the operating conditions (hot and cold water supply, permissible temperature range). The strength of the pipes in this case is determined by the type of reinforcement.

Polypropylene pipes for cold and hot water supply have become popular and widely used due to their advantages.

  • Corrosion resistance allows them to maintain performance for a long time.
  • The service life of polymer-based products is 3-4 times higher than that of metal communications.
  • Polypropylene is a stable polymer that does not react with chemically or biologically active substances. The inertness of the material allows you to preserve the composition and quality of water (odors, smack do not appear, color and composition do not change).
  • Polypropylene models have proven themselves well during winter operation. The polymer is less prone to rupture than other materials.
  • The minimum hydraulic resistance of polymer pipelines makes it possible to avoid pressure losses.
  • Low thermal conductivity of the material reduces heat loss. Polypropylene pipes for hot water supply save up to 20% compared to metal products.
  • It is easy to transport and install the system elements. The connections are highly reliable, and a wide range of fittings allows you to mount systems of varying complexity.
  • Polypropylene is safe for humans, it is used for the manufacture of food containers and in the medical industry.
  • Low noise and vibration levels that distinguish polypropylene pipes (the noise of water in this type of pipes practically does not cause discomfort to others).
  • Low cost.

Features of various types of polypropylene pipes

Polypropylene pipes for cold water and hot water are different. Classification and short description properties of products will help you navigate when choosing.

By design polymer products this type can be single or multi-layer.

Pipe material

  • Type 1 (PPH) is made from special kind polymer - homopolypropylene. Type 1 pipes are used for industrial water lines, ventilation systems, pipelines cold water.
  • Type 2 (PPB) is made from polypropylene block copolymer. Pipes are used for the installation of floor heating systems, cold water supply. Fittings and pipes are suitable for assembling systems subject to shock loads.
  • Type 3 (PPR) - random copolymer polypropylene pipes. The material is characterized by the most uniform distribution of the load acting on the pipe walls. Products are used for hot and cold water supply and floor heating systems.

Please note: Pipes of type 3 on open areas will last longer if you choose products with UV protection (special shell).

A variety of pipes of type 3 are PPS pipes - with high heat resistance. Such products allow transporting the working environment up to + 95 ° C and are classified as hardly flammable.

Reinforcement

When solving the issue of polypropylene pipes for water supply - how to choose them, it should be borne in mind that multilayer products are made from the same materials described above, but have additional reinforcement, which definitely affects their characteristics.

Reinforcement reduces the coefficient of thermal expansion of structures... By design, the reinforced aluminum layer of the product can be smooth or perforated. In the second case, the adhesion of the polymer to the metal at the production stage is ensured by the flow of the polymer into small holes in the aluminum mesh-shell.

Marking of polypropylene pipes and permissible temperatures

By marking products, you can determine their main parameters, which facilitates the choice of polypropylene pipes for water supply.

  • PN10 - pipes designed for a pressure of 1 MPa with an outer diameter of 20-110 mm and walls of 1.9-10 mm. They are used for transporting cold water (temperature not higher than 20 ° C) and installation of a "warm floor" (up to + 45 ° C).
  • PN16 - allowable pressure 1.6 MPa. The brand is rarely used, can be used for water up to + 60 ° C, installation of heating communications under floor covering... Diameter - 16-110 mm, walls 2.3-15.1 mm.
  • PN20 is a grade designed for pressure up to 2 MPa and temperatures up to + 80 ° C. Diameter - 16-110 mm, walls 1.6-18.4 mm
  • PN25 - special pipes for heating with reinforcement, designed for pressures up to 2.5 MPa and temperatures up to + 95 ° C. They are also used for hot water supply and process piping systems. Diameter - 21.2-77.9 mm, walls - 4-13.3 mm.

Polypropylene labeling will help you choose products for a specific object.

Types of reinforcement for polypropylene pipes

In the manufacture of polypropylene pipes, reinforcement can be done in one of the following ways:

  • continuous or perforated layer of aluminum foil with outside(wrapping),
  • bonding layers with glue with the placement of an aluminum layer inside the structure, closer to the inner surface,
  • with fiberglass,
  • with a composite layer (polypropylene + fiberglass, polypropylene + fiberglass).

Any reinforcement reduces the coefficient of thermal expansion, but the presence of an upper aluminum layer complicates installation somewhat and requires preliminary cleaning of the pipe at the joints with the fittings. The assembly of systems from and with a composite is easier, moreover, the composite is able to practically eliminate the effect of thermal expansion.

Diameter selection

The diameter of polypropylene pipes for water supply in an apartment or in a house is selected taking into account the following features:

  • with a pipeline length of up to 10 m, a diameter of 20 mm is preferable,
  • for pipelines 10-20 m - diameter 25 mm,
  • with a length over 30 m - diameter 32 mm.

For risers, products of 32 mm or more are chosen.

The use of polypropylene pipes in the water supply system is quite wide, so the range includes models different diameters and big .

Popular manufacturers

For those who choose polypropylene pipes for water supply, prices are of great importance.

  • Domestic products of the brands Politek, PRO AQUA, Santrade, RVK and Heisskraft should be classified as budgetary products.
  • Products from China are also inexpensive, but you should carefully consider the choice of the manufacturer. Experts recommend choosing the well-established brands Dyzain and BLUE OCEAN.
  • The middle price category is polypropylene pipes from Turkey, which are cheaper, compared to European manufacturers, and somewhat inferior in quality to their products: Kalde, TEBO, FIRAT, Pilsa, Vesbo, Jakko.

The most expensive products are traditionally from Europe.

  • Quality is considered impeccable German manufacturers: Rehau, Banninger, Wefatherm, Aquatherm.
  • The products of the Czech brands EKOPLASTIK and FV-Plast are somewhat inferior to them.

The main disadvantage of polypropylene pipes from Europe is their high cost.

A brief description of the types of products, their labeling and purpose will help you decide how to choose polypropylene pipes for water supply, and the recommendations of specialists will guide you in a variety of products from different manufacturers. It is important to find the best compromise and value for money so that the system will serve for a long time, but does not require excessive costs.

Mounting

Are inseparable. They are performed by melting the polymer component with the help of which are equipped with various nozzles.

For reliable installation of pipes with external metal reinforcement, before performing socket welding, a polymer surface layer and an aluminum interlayer are removed from an area equal to the insertion depth. The parts prepared for soldering are cleaned and degreased.

  1. Pipes are cut at right angles (use a hacksaw or special scissors).
  2. Choose a nozzle and heat the soldering iron to 250-270 ° C (it may take 15-20 minutes depending on the model).
  3. Both elements to be connected are heated simultaneously - one is inserted into the sleeve to the depth of welding, the second is put on the mandrel of the apparatus.
  4. The heating time is determined by the pipe diameter. Subcooled parts will not connect reliably, and when overheated, the product and the weld will be deformed.
  5. It is important to connect the heated parts quickly and accurately, without displacement.

While the weld seam is cooling, do not bend the product or make turns (just wait a few seconds).

If so, then theoretically (it is emphasized - theoretically!) You can give a guarantee that polypropylene pipes for hot water will not deliver any unpleasant surprises to their owner.

But in real life, you need to take into account a couple of nuances.

Climatic factor of temperature change

It is logical that the colder it is outside the house, the more heat is spent through walls, ventilation and windows. And if so, then the heat transfer of heating devices should be correspondingly higher.

This can be achieved in two ways:

  • increase the temperature of the coolant;
  • expand the heat transfer area of heating devices.

The number and size of radiators are decided by the designers and do not change from the moment the house is delivered. The tenant can add to cast iron battery section or completely change it to a more efficient aluminum one.

Along with this, CHPPs, dwellings and organizations serving heating networks must provide in apartments optimal temperature in all weather conditions. How do you think this can be achieved? That's right, raising the temperature of the batteries.

Moreover, in practice, the temperature can exceed a hundred degrees. Water cannot turn into steam just because of the excess pressure.

The human factor of temperature change

Water from the supply pipes of the heating main enters the radiators in the normal mode, having previously mixed with the pains with cold water from the return flow. In summer, hot water supply is supplied directly from the supply.

V winter period when the temperature of the supply pipeline exceeds 90 ° (while the radiators will be 70-75 °), the water supply must switch to the return water supply. Manually in every home.

If the plumber of your housing and communal services has quit, or forgot, or is drunk (which often happens), the water in the hot water supply system can become much hotter than hundreds of degrees. Scroll in your head that you turn on the tap, and a stream of boiling water, half and half with steam, gushes out of it.

In this case, polypropylene pipes for hot water can feel extremely bad.

Reinforcement of polypropylene pipes

Polypropylene pipes have a fairly high coefficient of thermal expansion. Remember the fundamental laws of physics? When heated, all bodies expand. The pipeline is no exception. In normal cases, this does not pose a problem.

Polypropylene is flexible: it stretches out a little in some place - in another place it will fold itself. However, sometimes there are situations when it is undesirable to lengthen the pipes when heated. For example, if it is plastered for hot water. The crack wall will certainly not be decorated.

Reinforced polypropylene pipes are much more reliable and stronger than conventional pipes.

To reduce the thermal expansion of pipes, they are reinforced. The material used is aluminum foil no more than 12 mm thick or fiberglass.

In addition to affecting the decrease in the coefficient of thermal expansion, the reinforcement also affects the thermal stability of polypropylene pipes. If the temperature approaches the softening point of polypropylene and the inside of the pipe is increased overpressure, an ordinary pipe can be deformed, but a reinforced one cannot.

Give preference reinforced pipes with fiberglass interlayer: they are a little more expensive, but more reliable.

Fiberglass reinforcement has the following advantages:

  1. It is not needed during installation, and this will give you the opportunity to save a little money on the necessary tool.
  2. The layers in it are welded, not glued, so it does not exfoliate under any influences.
  3. Electrochemical processes that lead, even with a small potential difference in the middle of the pipe, to the gradual destruction of the aluminum layer in those places where it comes into contact with water, are completely eliminated.

Features of the installation of polypropylene pipes

Remember that when mounting polypropylene pipelines, pipes must not be threaded. On plastic, the thread will not be strong, and the plastic pipes will not be able to tighten well (otherwise, you will deform the pipe and fitting by mechanical stress).

This is why polypropylene pipes benefit, because when they are welded together, a monolithic joint is created, which is many times more reliable than a threaded joint.

In order to connect with other (metal) elements of the hot water supply or heating system, a wide range of combined fittings is produced, on the one hand thread (metal), on the other hand welding (polypropylene).

Although pipes are made of polypropylene with threads, which are cut in industrial conditions, they are designed for low pressure and are not used for supplying hot water and heating.

The use of polypropylene pipes for hot water supply can be carried out everywhere, with the exception of the regions of the Far North. In those places where in winter the temperature of water and batteries can be close to a hundred degrees, the best solution will choose steel or copper pipe.

For hot water, it is worth choosing polypropylene pipes that have undergone reinforcement, which can also be used in heating.

Arrangement of intra-house wiring of communications requires important decisions - laying pipes made of polypropylene. Products of a new generation, which are actively replacing metal counterparts from the consumer market, are favorably distinguished by their environmental friendliness, safety for environment and human, lack of formation of corrosion, fungi, mold.

Operational purpose

Water pipes made of polypropylene are used in construction everywhere, and for each type it is recommended to have its own direction depending on the limiting value of the nominal pressure and temperature of the medium. A distinction should be made between:

  • PN10 - used for cold water supply with water temperatures up to 20 ° C;
  • PN16 - used for cold and low-temperature hot water supply systems, not higher than 60 ° C;
  • PN20 - used for cold and hot water supply, with a working temperature of water up to 70 ° C.

Maximum operating conditions (working pressure and water temperature) reduce the original performance of the product *.

Technological features

The production process on Krauss Maffei extrusion lines allows to achieve the melting of raw materials under low temperatures, contributes to the preservation of the physical and mechanical properties of polypropylene products. Specifications distinguish pipes from analogues:

  • minimal destruction of the material;
  • high breaking characteristics;
  • good absorption of vibration, noise;
  • resistance of the inner and top layer to alkalis and acids;
  • the maximum temperature of the transported medium for single-layer pipes - up to 80 ° C;
  • limiting pressure 2 MPa;
  • reduce heat loss up to 20%;
  • seamless construction;
  • convenient transportation due to its light weight.

How to choose

Help with selection is required suitable option? You can buy a polypropylene pipe for water supply wholesale and retail and order goods from a warehouse by contacting the distributors of SLT AQUA. Our experts will advise you on cooperation issues, guide you on the size of pipes, type, and organize delivery in the shortest possible time to anywhere in our country.

Metal pipes are used less frequently today than before, and plastic has come to replace them. It is distinguished by reliability, convenience and low cost. Plastic has low heat transfer, but high resistance to external influences, which makes it the market leader.

Exposure to temperature and pressure requires the use of materials that can handle the stress. It is recommended to purchase products with a stock, otherwise changing the parameters will lead to an accident.

The material does not corrode, does not rust, and does not form deposits on it. It does not clog from the inside. With proper installation, the service life is 50 years, which is unattainable for metal. Plastic does not bloom or mold.

Another advantage of plastic over metal is the installation procedure. For installation, a special soldering iron is required, the cost of which is low compared to welding machine... Anyone can use it. It is easy to transport, because it has small dimensions and weight.

Disadvantages:

  • Fire hazard.
  • Restriction on use.
  • Toxicity.

Plastic is highly flammable. This leads to the fact that when ignited, the fire quickly spreads and releases toxic substances. Some materials create harmful compounds when interacting with water and are only suitable for technical lines.

The following features can be distinguished:

  1. Long service life.
  2. Little weight.
  3. Easy installation and replacement.
  4. Low thermal conductivity.
  5. Resistance to external influences.
  6. Flexibility and elasticity.
  7. Cheapness.

Due to the peculiarities of its structure, plastic does not react with water and does not corrode. It does not require the use of additional thermal insulation.

Easy to transport due to its low weight. Installation is not a problem, because for this you only need a special soldering iron and scissors. In the event of a malfunction, part of the line can be easily removed and replaced.

Plastic is a flexible material, and therefore the line is made compact. You can make a pothole in the wall and install a line there, which will save space.

Types of plastic pipes for hot water

The choice of pipes for hot water is important, because they are regularly subjected to stress and temperature fluctuations in the range of 25-95 ° C. This causes a change in length, which is not allowed in small rooms due to the number of fasteners and the absence of expansion joints.

Some of best characteristics possesses a random copolymer (PPR). The inner surface does not allow the material to expand. It has high rigidity and low oxygen permeability. The line does not sag, which has a positive effect on the service life even without installing expansion joints. It is possible to purchase products reinforced with a reinforcing layer.

Plastic using polyethylene has a special marking. You need to buy products with a red line along the entire length. They are safe and have the necessary qualities for use in high-temperature lines.

Another view - two-layer polyethylene and additional winding... Products using kevlar (reinforcing property) threads are able to withstand 40 atmospheres. Cheap options with polyester threads are used in highways with pressures up to 25 atmospheres.

Aluminum foil, as a component, is highly durable. But such pipes are difficult and expensive to handle and install. The use of fiberglass does not have these problems, since it uses standard technology.

Reinforced plastic include the properties of plastic and metal. They are lightweight and flexible. Reinforced-plastic lines are not subject to temperature fluctuations or corrosion, while maintaining their characteristics.

Installation of plastic is to use the diffusion welding method. For this, a special apparatus is used, the cost of which is low. It is easy to use, so the installation is done independently. After connection, a solid line is obtained.

How to choose plastic pipes for hot water

You need to choose products taking into account the temperature range. This will help international standards ISO, which manufacturers use to designate types of plastic products.

  • Class No. 1 (suitable for water up to 60C, service life - 50 years).
  • Class №2 (Working heating is 70 С, shelf life - 50 years).
  • Class No. 4 (Used for low temperature radiator heating or laying underfloor heating; pipes of this class must be constantly used in different ranges (maximum - 70 C).
  • Class No. 5 (used for high-temperature radiator heating and withstands up to 90 C, works according to the principle similar to class 4; service life - 50 years).

The choice of pipes for hot water is carried out taking into account their appearance. They should look beautiful, be even, with perfect looks and inner diameters, with a clear section on the cut, without damage and voids in the structure.

As for the outer and inner layers, which are separated by fiberglass, their cut has different thicknesses. The main thing is to pay attention to the outer and inner surfaces. Outside, they should be uniform and consistent in color. Quality products do not have blurred or indistinct markings, as they are carefully monitored.

The smell of the products helps to assess the quality. If, when welding, they emit bad smell- this is clear sign Low quality. It is important to choose the right fittings. They must fit tightly with the hot water pipes. They are connected by force, in a heated state. The defect is the free running of the fitting. To avoid this problem, purchase parts from one manufacturer.

In addition to the above parameters, the choice is based on the following indicators:

  1. Operating pressure.
  2. Reinforcement.
  3. Diameter.

Special markings are applied to the pipes and the working pressure level is determined by the indicated numbers. Ultimate pressure exceeds specified. Plastic is able to withstand vibrations, but the higher the number, the better. As the temperature rises, the strength decreases along with the allowable pressure.

An important parameter is reinforcement. Such pipes are characterized by their durability. If you buy original products from the manufacturer, then the reinforcement is done with both aluminum and fiberglass. Both options last a long time due to their improved properties.

As for the choice of diameter, then you need to choose according to the principle: internal section plastic pipes for hot water, more internal section of the risers.

The choice of plastic pipes for hot water should be made taking into account the peculiarities of production. Plastic is considered to be strong, but at temperatures above 140C it becomes soft and melts. Firms selling products indicate a permissible temperature of 90C.

For example, you buy a plastic line with a maximum allowable temperature of 100C. Hot water reaches 95-97C, the pipe flows and deforms. The situation will end in court proceedings, and if the line is installed correctly, the manufacturer will lose and pay the cost of the products sold, compensate for the damage to the flood and moral compensation.

The amount of losses for the company will be significant. Realizing this, the permissible temperature is deliberately underestimated, which minimizes the manufacturer's risks to a minimum. If the line fails, then the problems will have to be solved on their own - the company will not compensate for anything.

Factories make large batches of products. It is impossible to ensure the quality of all pipes. The production technology is imperfect, therefore, some of the goods have defects: a change in the composition or ratio of components, insufficient wall thickness in certain places.

There are 2 ways to get out of the situation:

  1. Strengthen control and send part of the batch for revision.
  2. Reduce the maximum temperature threshold by 10-15C.

The second way does not require additional costs, so most manufacturers do this, underestimating the characteristics of the products. It is imperative to take this into account when choosing, otherwise the installed line may not withstand and leak.

The main line of a residential building is limited to a temperature of 90-95 C, which is fixed in regulatory documents... In this case, most hot water pipes are able to withstand the load and not cause problems for years. There are certain factors that affect the temperature.

The climate has a direct impact. The lower the ambient temperature, the more heat is lost.

Increase heat dissipation heating appliances can be done in 2 ways:

  • Increase the water temperature.
  • Increase the number of heat sources.

You can raise the temperature, but the load will also increase. In reality, the temperature of the coolant reaches 100C and more. If the line has a lower limit, then this will cause an accident.

The human factor and misuse should not be ruled out. For this reason, you need to choose pipes for hot water with a margin. Temperature changes should not lead to gusts. Correct installation will provide a service life of over 50 years.
