Despite the generally standard form of the exam, the details of its organization change somewhat from year to year. Rosobrnadzor is responsible for revising these details, which analyzes the results of tests conducted in previous years and clarifies the procedure for conducting them next year in order to provide students with conditions for passing the exam, allowing them to maximize the knowledge acquired over the years of study. In each specific year, the rules for holding the exam, including a list of examination subjects, the time allotted for writing an exam for each of them, and other parameters, are approved by a special order.

Duration of the exam

The total length of time allotted for completing the tasks of the unified state examination in a specific subject is also determined by Rosobrnadzor, depending on several factors, for example, the complexity of examination tasks, the total amount of material that a student needs to know in order to successfully pass the exam, and others. At the same time, the length of time for the Unified State Exam includes only the time of work on assignments: preliminary instructions, opening envelopes with texts and other preparatory procedures are not taken into account in the total duration of the exam.

The time allotted for writing different exams can vary significantly. So, in 2014, the shortest period of time, amounting to only three hours, that is, 180 minutes, was allotted for completing USE assignments in subjects such as biology, geography, chemistry and foreign languages. Thus, all subjects in this category were elective subjects.

In 2014, 3.5 hours, that is, 210 minutes, were allocated for completing assignments in one of the compulsory subjects - the Russian language, as well as for writing exams in history and social studies. At the same time, in the category of the longest exams, the duration of which was 235 minutes, one of the compulsory subjects was mathematics, and along with it - physics, computer science and literature. It should be noted that earlier the time allotted for completing assignments in these subjects was 240 minutes, but in 2012 Rosobrnadzor decided to reduce this time period by 5 minutes in connection with sanitary norms and rules.

Increasingly, parents of schoolchildren turn to our school with a request to prepare future graduates for the Unified State Exam in English 2018. What is the Unified State Exam in English 2018

The USE in English 2018 is the final exam at school, which counts as an entrance exam to the university, so it is so important to pass it with a high score. While this exam is not mandatory, but if a graduate is going to enter a specialized university, he needs to pass this test.

In terms of structure and level of complexity, the Unified State Exam is similar to the FCE international exam. This means that for successful delivery, the student must have a level (above average). This is a high level, so we recommend starting to prepare for the Unified State Exam in English from grade 10, then in 2 years the student will be able to master all the necessary amount of material at a normal pace.

In principle, it is possible to prepare for the exam in 1 year, but only if at the time of the beginning of the preparation the student already speaks English at the (intermediate) level. Not sure what level the graduate has? Then invite him to go through.

How is the exam in English going in 2018? The exam consists of a written and an oral part, which are held on different days. On one day, students take the written part, it includes the following sections: listening, reading, writing, grammar and vocabulary. In total, on this day, the graduate needs to complete 40 tasks in 180 minutes. A student can receive a maximum of 20 points for each section. Thus, for this day, you can score 80 points.

The second part - oral - takes place on another day and rented at will... It lasts only 15 minutes and consists of 4 tasks. On this day, a graduate can earn 20 more points. We strongly advise all graduates to take the oral part: in case of unsuccessful answers, you do not lose anything, and in case of successful - earn extra points.

Thus, a graduate can get a maximum of 100 points in the exam. The minimum score for passing the exam is 22 points.

The USE results are usually published 14 days after passing the second part of the exam, but in some cases they are known as early as 12 days. You can find out your results on the official website of the USE by filling in all the required fields. The paper certificates of the exam were canceled in 2014, so now only electronic certificates are available.

The structure of the exam in English 2018 and the principles of successful delivery of each part

Listening

The listening session lasts 30 minutes and consists of three parts. The first two parts are the first and second tasks, respectively, and the third part is tasks №3-9 (from the general list of 40 tasks).

Listening to the Unified State Exam in English in 2018 includes 3 audio fragments combined into one recording. The examiners turn on the recording and do not stop it until the very end, however, between the fragments there are pauses for reading the assignments and transferring the answers to the form. For each correct answer in this and other parts of the exam, the student receives 1 point. Let's see what the graduate has to do in listening.

Exercise 1: 7 statements are given. The student listens to 6 statements and correlates them with statements, one of which is superfluous.

  1. When preparing for the exam, you need to do as many listening tasks as possible in the exam format... So the graduate will get used to quickly reading assignments and catching keywords in speech that will help find the right answer.
  2. When choosing an answer, you need to rely not on the words mentioned in the speaker's speech, but on the meaning of his words. So, for example, in his speech he can in one way or another mention all the answers to the task, but if you delve into what has been said, then you can understand that there is only one correct answer.

Reading

Reading lasts 30 minutes and consists of 3 parts (9 tasks). For each part, we advise you to spend no more than 10 minutes in order to keep within the allotted half hour.

Exercise 1: 7 short texts (3-6 sentences in each) and 8 headings are given. You need to read the texts and select the appropriate heading for each of them. In this case, 1 title will be superfluous.

  1. When completing the first task, you need to look for keywords that will indicate the meaning of the text and help you find the title you need. In addition, often the main meaning of a paragraph is reflected in the first sentence, while the rest provide some small details. Therefore, in some cases, you just need to carefully read the first sentence in order to correctly complete the task.
  2. To successfully complete the second task, you must have a good understanding of how complex sentences are constructed in English. The fact is that the missing part in most cases is part of a complex or complex sentence. For example, if a student understands that in the subordinate clause who is used for people, which for objects, and where for places, he will be able to successfully complete most of the tasks. You also need to reiterate, for example, that the infinitive is used to express purpose.
  3. In the third task, the questions are arranged in the order in which they are answered in the text. That is, the answer to the first question will be at the beginning of the text, and not in the middle or at the end, the answer to the second question will be after the answer to the first, etc.

  1. Conversion of a word in the first part, as a rule, occurs according to the following principle. If you are given a verb, you need to either use it in the correct tense, or put it in the correct form of the voice (active or passive), or form a participle from it. If an adjective is given, you must put it in the comparative or superlative degree. If you need to change a number, most likely you need to make it ordinal.
  2. The second part mainly tests the knowledge of suffixes and prefixes, including negative ones, the ability to form different parts of speech from the same root word.
  3. The third part most often tests the knowledge of word collocations, the so-called collocations. In addition, out of 4 words, you will need to choose the most appropriate in meaning, that is, you need to know the difference between similar words, to read the context.

Letter

The graduate is given 80 minutes to write and check 2 written works.

Exercise 1: Given the text of a short letter from a friend asking questions. The student needs to read it and write an answer letter: answer the friend's questions and ask him questions.

The essay is written in a neutral style and consists of 5 paragraphs:

  1. Introduction: we formulate a topic-problem and immediately point out that there are two opposite points of view.
  2. Your opinion: we express our point of view (one) on this issue and give 2-3 arguments that confirm it.
  3. Opposing opinions: we write 1-2 opposite points of view and give arguments in favor of their existence.
  4. We express our disagreement: we explain why we do not agree with the above points of view, and we give arguments in defense of our own opinion. However, they should not repeat the arguments from paragraph 2.
  5. Conclusion: we draw a conclusion on this topic, indicate that there are different points of view, and finally confirm our point of view.

Our advice:

  1. Adhere to the required volume. It is permissible to deviate by 10% from the specified number of words, that is, you can write from 90 to 154 words in a letter and from 180 to 275 in an essay. If a graduate writes at least 1 word less (89), he will be given 0 points for the task. If the limit is exceeded, the examiner will count 140 words in a letter or 250 in an essay and evaluate it, moreover, remove points for work in progress, assignment design, topic disclosure, etc.
  2. Avoid paragraphs consisting of one sentence, you need to supplement and argue every thought. To do this, you can use the constructions In my opinion, I believe, etc.
  3. Follow the style of your writing: Colloquial expressions like Guess what? or Wish me luck !, and your essay should be more formal. It is important not to overdo it with "informality": all kinds of well, cause and slang expressions are unacceptable.
  4. Use linking words, they make the text logical, allow you to supplement or contrast sentences.

Oral speech

The oral part of the exam is the shortest, it only takes 15 minutes. A graduate needs to have time to complete as many as 4 tasks, for which you can get a maximum of 20 points. The student hands over the assignments in front of the computer, his answers are recorded using a headset, and a countdown is shown on the screen. At the same time, there is an organizer in the audience who monitors the course of the exam.

Exercise 1: Popular science text is displayed on the screen. In 1.5 minutes you need to prepare and in the next 1.5 minutes read it expressively aloud.

This problem is easily solved by doing the question-formulation exercises over and over.
  4. In the third task, the examinee needs to choose 1 photo out of 3 proposed and describe it. Here's our top tip - read the assignment carefully... The fact is that it changes slightly every year, so learn to respond accordingly to the wording of 2018. In 2018, graduates will have to describe a photo to a friend, that is, an appeal to him should sound in a monologue. English is one of four languages ​​that students can choose to take in the Unified State Exam. Since 2015, the exam consists of two parts: written and oral, which graduates will have to take on different days. Changes in 2016 affected only the wording of the 3rd task of the oral section, as well as an increase in the passing score to 22 (last year the minimum score was 20 units). The structure of the exam in English

The structure of the written part of the exam in a foreign language, including English, includes four sections. The assignments are given 180 minutes, total assignments will be 40. The maximum number of points that can be obtained for the writing part is 80.

Written exam structure:

1.Listening... Contains 9 tasks, in two of which it will be necessary to establish a correspondence between the content of the text heard and the proposed statements, and in the remaining seven - choose the correct answer out of three. The recommended writing time is 30 minutes.

2.Reading... Contains 9 tasks, of which seven involve choosing the correct answer from four options, in one it will be necessary to establish a correspondence between mini-texts and headings, and in one more - to fill in the gaps in the read text from the proposed passages. The recommended writing time is 30 minutes.

3.Grammar and vocabulary... Contains 20 tasks, of which 13 provide a short answer, and the remaining 7 are asked to choose the correct answer from four options. The recommended writing time is 40 minutes.

4.Letter... Contains 2 tasks in which the student will be asked to answer a letter (100-140 words) and write a short essay expressing a personal opinion on the proposed problem (200-250 words). The recommended lead time is 80 minutes.

Oral exam, for the successful delivery of which you can get a maximum of 20 points, is held separately from the written one. Each student is given 15 minutes to answer, including preparation time (one and a half minutes for each task). The oral block includes 4 tasks:

1. Reading aloud a short passage of text on a popular science topic.

2. Composing five questions using keywords. Questions must be formulated after reading the proposed advertisement.

3. Description of one of the three proposed photographs based on the proposed plan.

4. Comparison of events in two photos using the proposed plan.

Tasks are given to the student sequentially, after completing the previous one. The maximum number of points will be given to the examinee who fully completes the tasks, adheres to the proposed answer plan and the topic of the task.

Preparation for the exam in English

To successfully pass the USE in a foreign language, a student must solve at least 17 tasks from 2 and 3, or only 3 sections of the written part. The scores obtained are converted into a five-point scale in accordance with the normative tables.

Preparation for the Unified State Exam in English should begin in advance, even if the applicant is fluent in the subject. Before passing the exam, it is recommended that you familiarize yourself with the test materials and demonstration options, practice taking tests online on specialized sites. However, this may not be enough, especially if the applicant is counting on a high score, because it is impossible to assess the correctness of the letter and the level of preparedness for the oral part of the exam independently. Russian language and mathematics. According to the data of previous years, almost half of the graduates (49%) take social studies. And this is not surprising, since the USE in social studies is necessary for admission to all humanitarian specialties.

In fact, the subject of "social studies" includes information on various aspects of society, studied within a whole class of humanities: economics, jurisprudence, philosophy, sociology, political science and, to some extent, history.

The version of the KIM USE in social studies has undergone minor changes. The developers revised the difficulty of tasks 28 and 29, which is why the maximum primary score for the entire test increased from 62 to 64.

Assessment of the exam

Last year, in order to pass the Unified State Exam in Social Studies, at least for the top three, it was enough to score 19 primary points. They were given, for example, when the first 13 items of the test were completed correctly.

It is not yet known exactly how it will be in 2019: we need to wait for an official order from Rosobrnadzor on the correspondence of the primary and test scores. Most likely it will appear in December. Considering that the maximum primary score has increased from 62 to 64, it is very likely that the minimum score may also change slightly.

The structure of the exam

In 2019, the USE social studies test consists of two parts, which include 29 tasks.

  • Part 1: 20 tasks (No. 1–20) with a short answer (choose the correct answer from the proposed ones, establish a correspondence between the elements of the two sets, insert the missing word in the text);
  • Part 2: 9 tasks (No. 21-29) with a detailed answer (answers to questions, mini-essays).

Preparation for the exam

  • Go through exam tests online for free without registration and SMS. The presented tests are identical in complexity and structure to real exams conducted in the corresponding years.
  • Download demonstration versions of the Unified State Exam in Social Studies, which will allow you to better prepare for the exam and take it easier. 1. How many points can you get on the exam in the Russian language?

For the correct fulfillment of all the tasks of the examination work, you can receive a maximum of 58 primary points. For a well-written essay, you can get 24 points.

To obtain a high school diploma, you must score a minimum of 24 points. And if an eleventh grader plans to enter a university, and no matter what specialty, the exam must be passed at least 36 points.

2. How much time is given to complete all tasks?

210 minutes, or 3.5 hours, are allotted for the execution of the examination work in the Russian language.

3. What knowledge will be tested on the Unified State Exam in the Russian language?

The tasks of the examination work in the Russian language test the knowledge of the norms for constructing text, lexical, spelling, punctuation, grammatical norms of the modern Russian literary language, the ability to create a text based on what has been read.

4. What tasks does the exam variant consist of?

Each version of the exam work of the Unified State Exam in the Russian language consists of two parts and includes 26 tasks that differ in form and level of difficulty.

Part 1 contains 25 tasks with a short answer (open-type tasks for recording an independently formulated correct answer and tasks for choosing and recording one correct answer from the proposed list of answers).

The tasks of the first part check the assimilation of the educational material by the participants of the exam, both at the basic and at high levels of difficulty: the latter type includes tasks that check the grammatical norms (task 7), the ability to find means of communication of sentences in the text (task 24) and used in the text linguistic means of expression (task 25).

Part 2 contains one task (task 26) - according to the text read. In carrying out this task, the examinee must demonstrate the ability to analyze the content and problems of the read text, comment on the problem of the original text, determine the position of the author of the text, express and argue his own opinion, express thoughts consistently and logically, use various grammatical forms and lexical richness of the language in speech, form statements in accordance with the spelling, punctuation, grammatical and speech norms of the modern Russian literary language.

The essay can be written by the examinee at any level of difficulty (basic, advanced, high).

5. This year there is a new task number 20. What does it check?

Task number 20 will check the knowledge of the lexical norms of the Russian literary language. The task will be evaluated at 1 point.

The task will be given in two versions:

  • as an exception, that is, it will be necessary to remove the extra word;
  • as a replacement, that is, the word will need to be replaced.

Algorithm of execution: first you need to find a semantic (semantic) contradiction in the sentence, isolate the error and complete the task, correcting this error.

6. What is the difficulty of completing task number 7?

The task sounds like this: "Establish a correspondence between grammatical errors and sentences in which they are allowed."

There are three types, but the exam will only need to identify morphological and syntax errors.

Morphological errors:

  • incorrect use of the case form of a noun with a preposition;
  • incorrect use of a numeral name.

Syntax errors:

10. How to fill out the exam form correctly?

Practice has shown that it is better to enter the answers first in the CMM, and then carefully transfer them to answer form No. 1 to the right of the number of the corresponding task, starting from the first cell, without spaces, commas and other additional characters. Answers to tasks are written without unnecessary additions (a term, concept, keyword or a combination of words from the text is written, etc.).

It is better to write the answer to task 26 on a draft first, and then rewrite it in form No. 2. The essay should be written clearly, in legible handwriting. Draft entries are not included in the processing and validation of works.
