By its design, the drilling machine is very easy to operate. In order to set the selected drilling speed, it is necessary to move the V-belt to the corresponding pulley step.

In order to transfer the belt from one stage of the pulley to another, it is necessary to unscrew the special handle on the bracket and, by turning the screw to the left, move the bracket together with the electric motor towards you. After that, it is necessary to rearrange the belt, and then (to tension the belt) by turning the screw to the right, move the bracket with the electric motor away from you.

Automatic feeding is carried out through a feed box, the roller of the latter is driven into rotation from a spindle flash drive through a small gearbox, which is connected to the flash drive belt.

The automatic feed rate is 0.2 mm per spindle revolution. Feeding over 0.2 mm. can only be done manually, for which a special overtaking mechanism is arranged in the feed box.

In order to work with a feed of less than 0.2 mm (when drilling in steel up to Ø 6 mm), the automatic feed must be turned off by pulling the handle counterclockwise until it stops and screwing the stop screw on the side of the disc.

In order to drill to a predetermined depth during automatic feed, there is a movable stop bar on the switching sleeve disk, and a special scale in millimeters is applied on the vernier ring around the circumference, according to which the specified depth is counted. The plank is installed according to the required drilling depth.

The start and stop of the machine is carried out with the help of an electric motor, and the switching on and off of the latter is carried out from the drum switch.

Automatic feed 0.2 mm. can be used for carbon steel, for drilling diameters from Ø 6 mm to 18 mm. For cast iron, for drilling diameters from 3 mm. up to 18 mm.

When working with automatic feeding, the handle must be set to the middle position.

The ease of turning off the automatic feed is carried out by selecting the rollers in the feed box: Ø 12.3..12.7.

To cool the tool during drilling, a special electric pump of the P22-A type is mounted on the machine, which can be switched on using a separate packet switch.

A special reservoir is provided for the coolant in the machine cabinet.

The axis of the feed gear is through two grease fittings on the feed box housing.

The main units are located on the bed 1 of the machine. The bed has vertical guides along which the table 9 and the drilling head 3, the bearing spindle 7 and the electric motor 2 move. The workpiece or device is installed on the machine table 9, and the alignment of the workpiece hole and the spindle is achieved by moving the workpiece.

The gearboxes of speeds and feeds are controlled by handles 4, manual feed - by the steering wheel 5. The depth of processing is controlled by the dial 6. The counterweight is placed in a niche, the electrical equipment is placed in a separate cabinet 12. The base plate 11 serves as a support for the machine. In medium and heavy machines, its upper plane is used for setting workpieces. The coolant is supplied by an electric pump through a hose 8. The drill head units are lubricated with a pump, the rest of the units are lubricated manually.

Drilling head 3 is an iron casting, in which a gearbox, feed mechanisms and a spindle are mounted. The gearbox contains two- and three-gear blocks of gear wheels, by switching which, using one of the handles 4, the spindle receives various angular velocities... The spindle speed, as a rule, changes in steps, which is provided by a gearbox and a two-speed electric motor 2.

Unlike vertical drilling in a radial drilling machine, the axes of the workpiece and spindle holes are aligned by moving the spindle relative to the stationary workpiece in the radial and circular directions (in polar coordinates). By design, radial drilling machines are divided into general-purpose machines, portable for machining holes in large workpieces (machines transfer crane to the workpiece and process vertical, horizontal and inclined holes) and self-propelled, mounted on trolleys and fixed during processing with shoes.
