Vibration dampers for pipelines. Rubber flange compensators, vibration dampers, vibration dampers, flexible fittings. Technical data of the rubber flange compensator

Flexible inserts (vibration dampers) divide pipeline communications into functional areas. This is done for many reasons; extending the service life of the laid pipes and connected equipment is one of the main ones. Vibration compensators consist of metal connecting ends and, in fact, the body of the vibration adapter: a bellows steel bridge, or rubber in the form of a corrugated cylinder or a sphere (several spheres) with cord reinforcement and multilayer reinforcement in the middle.

Types of vibration dampers

Flexible connectors are classified according to the material of the expansion joint: stainless steel, heat-resistant steel, rubber (EPDM); and by the type of connection: detachable - coupling (threaded) and flanged, one-piece - for welding. Flexible connectors differ in type working structure and the method of passive compensation; the industry produces more than ten variants.

Application area

The main functions of vibration dampers:

  • compensation of misalignment and thermal deformations of pipelines;
  • reduction of mechanical stress;
  • reduction of vibration during equipment operation;
  • reduction of noise level;
  • water hammer protection;
  • galvanic isolation (rubber).

Selection of flexible pipe fittings

Vibration compensators should be selected taking into account the diameter and shape of the pipeline ends. It is important to consider chemical composition material transported through pipes. To work with chemically aggressive mixtures, it is necessary to install special flexible inserts... The difference in temperatures inside and outside the pipeline is of great importance; this is also taken into account when choosing a vibration compensator.

Vibration compensators characteristics

Flexible fittings withstand strong internal pressure and remain sealed against axial displacement. Central element made of reinforced wear-resistant rubber, it is designed for operation at temperatures up to one hundred and twenty degrees. The steel bellows dam made of heat-resistant steel is able to withstand high temperatures and large differences in internal pressure. The working life of the vibration compensator depends on the proximity of installation with active equipment that creates vibrational vibrations, on the method of laying the pipeline, on soil subsidence and displacement of soil horizons.

Features of flexible pipe fittings

Vibration compensators "" save "" the pipeline in case of transverse-longitudinal displacements, taking on the resulting displacements. If the displacement turns out to be critical, then the flexible insert serves as a fuse; replacing a failed expansion joint will be cheaper than finding a break in the pipeline and repairing it. Vibration dampers dampen noise, vibrations and reduce the force of water hammer.

Application of vibration dampers

Flexible connectors are installed at the joints of pipeline sections in the chemical, mining, processing industries, in heating systems, on main water pipelines. Pipes and active equipment are connected through them. The use of vibration dampers near pumping modules significantly extends the service life of technical units.

Installation and assembly of flexible connectors

For the installation of vibration dampers used hand tool, levers, sets of keys, solid and adjustable. Welded elements are connected by autogenous or electric arc welding. When installing dimensional inserts, various supporting and lifting mechanisms, jacks, cranes, winches.

Vibration compensators (vibration joints) are related to auxiliary pipeline fittings. The main purpose is to absorb vibrations created by other equipment in the system: pumps, compressors. Also used to compensate for thermal expansion of pipes and lateral, angular displacement within values, permissible by design specific rubber expansion joint (depending on the diameter - up to 22 mm lateral and 45 ° angular displacement). They help to reduce the noise from the operation of equipment that creates vibrations, to protect against water hammer. By their work, they significantly extend the service life of the pipeline system, therefore, in mandatory installed after equipment generating vibrations, lateral and longitudinal displacement and stretching of sections of highways. Installed next to equipment that generates high vibrations.

Anti-vibration flexible insert design

A standard vibration damper consists of the following parts:

  • rubber sleeve or body;
  • fastening to the pipeline system (2 flanges or threaded fittings);
  • reinforcing cord.

What materials are vibration compensators made of

Of course, different manufacturers may offer different versions of this equipment. We will tell you what materials are used in the manufacture of our anti-vibration inserts.

  • Flanges / threaded connections: carbon steel.
  • Reinforcing cord: carbon steel.
  • Body: EPDM (rubber).
  • Rushwork vibration dampers also use an internal filler - nylon cord.

The material of the housing determines the maximum temperature of the working medium that the vibration adapter can pass. As a rule, it is from -20 to + 105-110 ° С. Vibration inserts are used for hot and cold water, they can also be used for air transportation. For gases, vibration joints with a sleeve made of MBR are usually used.

It's all about their design features:

  • the elastic element of the flexible insert is maximally resistant to aggressive media. He is not harmed by the constant pressure hot water, and even after a long use, the element will not lose its functions;
  • expansion joints are flexible enough, which allows them to successfully recover their shape after mechanical stress. In addition, the flexibility allows expansion joints to be installed in pipelines with slight misalignment;
  • Are the pipes exposed to shock loads, vibrations or noise? All these problems will be eliminated after installing an expansion joint that successfully resists water hammer;
  • heat resistance - flexible inserts are made of heat-resistant synthetic rubber of a special composition;
  • light weight, due to which they are very convenient to transport, and the installation process will not cause difficulties.

Flexible fittings will increase pipe life

A flexible joint, also referred to as a vibration compensator, is an element whose main purpose is to reduce or eliminate noise altogether. In addition, these parts remove vibration, absorb water shocks and compensate for displacement, shearing and thermal elongation.

All these factors make vibration compensators indispensable in pipelines - they are installed in water and gas supply systems, air conditioning, etc. As a result, the service life of pipes is significantly increased.

Temperature changes caused by seasonal climate change or changes in the characteristics of the transported medium, as well as dynamic loads created by operating equipment, can cause the pipeline to move relative to its original position. Even if it is relatively small, regular loads significantly increase the risk of damage to pipeline fittings, supports and other elements of the pipeline. Exclude negative impact in this case, it allows the use of a vibration absorber, or vibration compensator.

What is a vibration absorber and where is it used:

A vibration damper, or flexible insert, is a type of industrial pipeline fittings designed to compensate for lateral, angular and axial pipeline displacements. It consists of an elastic middle part made mainly of reinforced heat-resistant rubber or a similar elastic polymer, as well as two connecting metal (most often steel) elements. The latter can be presented in the form of a threaded shank or a flange - this depends primarily on the diameter of the pipeline for which the product is intended.

In high-quality vibration dampers, the elastic element has a multi-layer structure. Its inner layer has no seams and is made mainly of materials that can be used in systems with clean water... This is followed by a reinforcing layer of rubber-impregnated synthetic fabric (nylon), and on top of it another layer of rubber is applied, ensuring resistance to UV and ozone. As for the connecting parts, they are covered with an anti-corrosion layer, which provides protection against external influences. Flanges and couplings are not in contact with the medium.

The flexible joint is installed in pipelines that are most susceptible to spatial movements and vibrations, for example, located next to compressors, pumps, etc. technological equipment... Most often, the above units themselves stand on special supports that compensate for vibration, but it is transmitted to the highway. Also, the installation of expansion joints is justified in the case when it is necessary to ensure the possibility of a slight displacement of the pipeline due to temperature effects or a change in direction. But it is not allowed to use vibration inserts to correct mistakes made during the installation of the line - in their original position they should not be under load. Certain restrictions also exist for transported media.

Standard vibration dampers can be mounted on pipelines intended for transportation:

  • cold water;
  • hot water with a temperature not exceeding 100 ° С;
  • non-concentrated (up to 10%) acids;
  • organic and inorganic alcohols;
  • solutions of salts and alkalis.

Their use in transportation systems for oil products, very hot and aggressive media is unacceptable. This is primarily due to the low resistance of the elastic central part to them. For the same reason, this reinforcement cannot be used on highways passing in rooms, the conditions in which may destroy the outer layer of the insert. In such cases, vibration joints are used. special purpose resistant to these media (if they exist) or more expensive metal vibration dampers.

The choice of vibration compensator and installation features:

When choosing a vibration compensator for a specific object or area, it is necessary to take into account, first of all, the following points:

  • type and temperature of the transported medium;
  • the nature of the loads applied (compensated deviations);
  • pipeline diameter;
  • possible mechanical and chemical external influences on the valve.

Some of the above factors can affect not only the type of product used, but also the installation features of the expansion joint. In particular, in some cases, it is advisable to use elements that limit the possibility of its deformation: limit rings, control rods or special rods.

To vibration insert not only worked effectively, but also served during the estimated period, it is necessary to strictly comply with all the requirements regarding their installation. In particular, a sliding or movable support should be installed on one side of the flexible insert, and a fixed one on the other. You should also avoid contact with the flexible part of the insert of bolts, studs and other fasteners, and place the nuts on the outside of the flange. For installation of vibration dampers, it is preferable to use collar flanges, or thoroughly clean the weld seam of flat ones, in order to avoid damage to the elastomer section on the connecting element during the screed.

Assembly and installation instructions for flexible connector ABRA-EJF-10 - rubber anti-vibration compensator

  1. Required to do ""
  2. It is necessary to strictly observe the parameters indicated in the tables above, to reasonably use control rods.
  3. !!! When installing rubber expansion joints ABRA, additional seals in the form of elastic wafer gaskets are prohibited in the pipeline system, a reliable tight connection is ensured by the rubber protrusion of the ABRA vibration compensator itself.
  4. Flexible connectors should be installed directly behind the fixed support. Movable supports should be provided behind the flexible insert.
  5. It is preferable to use collar flanges, although with the necessary qualifications of the installers, it is possible to install flexible ABRA inserts between flat flanges. Remember to deburr the inner weld when doing this to avoid damaging the rubber.
  6. It is undesirable to install a vibration compensator closer than 1.5 diameters of the pipeline from the restriction devices.
  7. The maximum permissible tightening torques of bolts for flexible inserts (vibration dampers) of any manufacturer must be controlled using torque wrenches. In particular, for ABRA inserts up to DN80 inclusive, the maximum torque is 60 N * m, and for large DN it is 80 N * m.
  8. Flexible inserts-vibration dampers can be mounted in any spatial position
  9. It is not allowed to use the expansion joint as a supporting structure, that is, the expansion joint must be installed after the pipelines are secured. Piping at both ends of the flexible insert must be secured in fixed supports close enough so that the working range of pipe displacements does not go beyond the allowed for insertion.
  10. It is not recommended that the pre-compression of the expansion joint during installation exceeds 3 - 5 mm. Extension of the insert during installation is unacceptable.
  11. Twisting of the flexible element of the compensator during installation is not allowed.
  12. Before starting the installation, it is necessary to center the inlet and outlet pipelines, fixing them at a distance of no more than three pipe diameters from the expansion joint.
  13. Neither the anti-vibration expansion joint nor the control rods are designed to compensate for errors in the pipeline installation, such as displacement in the center of the flanges.
  14. Damage to the compensator is not allowed sharp edges pipe or connection flange surfaces.
  15. The contact of bolts, nuts or studs with rubber is not allowed (for example - when connecting a bolt-nut - the nuts are installed on the side opposite to the rubber elements - on the side of the pipeline).
  16. Simultaneous work of the compensator in tension and shear is not allowed.
  17. The insert is not allowed to work in tension when installed at the pump inlet or when operating under vacuum (negative instrument pressure).
  18. It is not allowed to carry out welding work in the immediate vicinity of the expansion joint without its protection or dismantling.
  19. It is not allowed to paint the flexible element of the expansion joint or cover it with a layer of insulation.
  20. Storage of expansion joints is carried out unloaded in a cool dry place.
  21. Storage and transportation should be carried out without shock loads at temperatures: -40 ... + 65 ° С.
  22. The estimated service life of rubber expansion joints is 3 years.
  23. Warranty obligations.
    The warranty period, provided that the consumer observes the rules of transportation, storage, installation and operation, is set for 12 months from the date of commissioning, but not more than 18 months from the date of sale. All questions related to warranty obligations are provided by the seller.
