BORDER PATROL SHIP PROJECT 22460 "RUBIN"

PROJECT 22460 BORDER WATCH SHIP "RUBY"

Violators of the state border, poachers, drug dealers will be opposed by the speed, effective weapons, and professionalism of the crew by the new generation border patrol ship (PSKR) of project 22460, created by St. Petersburg shipbuilders.

On June 26, 2009 at 1500 at JSC "Shipbuilding company" Almaz "solemn events were held dedicated to the launching ceremony of the border patrol ship (PSKr)" Rubin "(tail number 501) of the new generation of project 22460 for the SS FSB of the Russian Federation and the laying of two border guard patrols ships of the project 10412 "Firefly" for Vietnam.
In 2006, Severnoye PKB with project 22460 (chief designer Alexei Naumov) won a tender from its competitors, including the Almaz Central Marine Design Bureau, the Federal Border Service of the Russian Federation for a new generation border patrol ship. One of the conditions of the competition was the low cost of building the ship, in addition, the victory was ensured by the administrative resource of the Northern PKB. The main competitor of this project was the PSKR project 22100 with two gas turbines, designed at the Almaz Central Design Bureau. It was planned to build these patrol ships for the FPS in a large series and at several shipyards.

Competitor PSKR project 22100 TsMKB "Almaz"

At the tender for the FPS there was another PSKR proposal from the Northern PKB with a Ka-226 helicopter and a 57-mm artillery mount (AU) A-220M, this is a development of a patrol ship of project 22300. The same bureau also prepared a patrol-patrol ship PK-500 based on the PS-500 missile ship, with the same armament. A model of one of the variants of this ship was demonstrated several times at the Interpolitex exhibition in Moscow and the International Maritime Defense Show in St. Petersburg. The basic version of the PS-500 provides for the installation of a 100-mm ship-borne gun mount A-190E, eight TPKs with Kh-35 missiles (Uranium complex) and a 30-mm AK-630M assault rifle.

TsMKB "Almaz" for border guards has prepared a draft 12300P patrol ship with a helicopter and one 76-mm AK-176M cannon, machine guns. The basic version of the Project 12300P ship - the Project 12300 Scorpion missile and artillery ship is equipped with the Sigma-12301 combat information and control system, Ladoga-ME-12300 inertial navigation and stabilization system, Buran-type automated communications complex, product 6730 -7 systems of state recognition, integrated navigation system "Horizon-25". The set of these means is typical for Russian ships of small displacement. The main armament of the ship is the Yakhont missile system, the A-190 100-mm gun mount and the Kashtan anti-aircraft missile and artillery system.

Model of the Project 12303 border patrol ship at IMMS-2007

In August 2007, the Almaz Shipbuilding Company won a tender among eight construction plants announced by the FSB FSB for the construction of a new ship of project 22460. This made it possible on September 3, 2007 to carry out the groundbreaking ceremony of a new generation of project 22460 PSKR (serial number 501) at "Almaz" in a solemn atmosphere with the participation of the city administration and the Russian border service. As the head of the Border Guard Service Vladimir Pronichev noted at the time, the sea is now actively used by cross-border criminal groups, in particular for piracy and illegal migration. “Threats have become widespread, and in order to confront them, an effective coast guard system must be established,” he said.

The project 22460 ship is being built in cooperation with a large number of Western partners. In particular, Germany, Italy, France, Norway, Austria, Finland are taking part in the project. Some Western know-how will be introduced for the first time. Today, the world's border guards work in a very interconnected manner in border protection, defense, rescue, in addition, Western countries have the opportunity to test their technologies at a lower cost.
The ship of project 22460 with a displacement of 630 tons is designed to protect the state border, natural resources of internal sea waters and territorial seas, the exclusive economic zone and the continental shelf, fight against terrorists, poachers and pirates, carry out emergency rescue operations, carry out environmental control and eliminate the consequences of natural disasters ...
The ship was designed according to the requirements of the border forces of the Russian Federation with the expectation of being at sea up to 270 days per year. It has a steel hull with a double bottom and a double side to maintain buoyancy and the ability to perform combat missions even after collisions with ships, ships, and violators. The main power plant (GEM) is diesel, with diesel engines of the German company MTU installed in it. Quite recently, the maritime border units were replenished with a patrol ship of project 6457C "Sprut" on which the MTU power plant was also installed - diesel-electric (diesel power 5200 kW + electric motor 600 kW).
The ship will be based on one light helicopter of the Ka-226 type of the "Kamov" company. However, the placement of the helicopter in the hangar is not provided, for there is only a runway. The basic model Ka-226 was created in 1997, received a Russian type certificate in 2005 and is serially produced. The Ka-226 is a further development and modernization of the Ka-26 helicopter. The Ka-226 has retained the advantages of the modular design of its predecessor. It is powered by the reliable American Rolls-Royce Allison 250-C2R / 2 engines, proven over many years of operation. The use of a foreign power plant allowed the Kamovites to get around the temporary problem of lack of a similar domestic engine and significantly expanded the export capabilities of the helicopter. The use of two gas turbine engines provides increased flight safety and an expanded field of helicopter application (flights over the water surface, over the city, rescue operations).

Light helicopter Ka-226 at MAKS-2005

The helicopter of this model has already been in serial production since 2003; now its new modification Ka-226T with French engines is being created. Serial production of the Ka-226 is deployed at the Orenburg Production Association Strela and the Kumertau Aviation Production Enterprise.
The use of an alternative power plant on the Ka-226 with more powerful French Arrius 2G1 engines from Turbomeca helped the designers to significantly improve the aircraft's flight performance, especially when operating in high mountain regions and in areas with hot and humid climates. Thanks to the new "high-altitude" engines, the modified Ka-226T is ideally suited to the conditions of the Indian competition for a light and multipurpose helicopter. The Ka-226T light multipurpose helicopter, equipped with two Turbomeca Arrius engines, will probably make its first flight in 2009.

The ship is equipped with the most modern means of navigation and communication, and has a ship control automation system. The ship's armament is one 30-mm cannon and two machine guns, which is considered sufficient for carrying out patrol missions; the ship is also responsible for rescue missions.
The ship is equipped with a rapid-firing six-barreled 30-mm automatic cannon AK-630M. It was developed at the Tula Instrument Design Bureau and is mass-produced by the Tulamashzavod enterprise. AK-630M is designed to arm ships with the main task of: destroying anti-ship missiles, aircraft, helicopters and other means of enemy air attack; the defeat of small-sized sea surface targets and the shooting of floating mines, the defeat of visible open manpower and enemy firing points on the shore. The installation used a six-barreled machine gun with a rotating block of barrels AO-18 (muzzle velocity 875 m / s). Cooling of the barrel block is autonomous liquid.
A version of the 22460 project was worked out with the placement of one A-220M cannon (developed by the Central Research Institute "Burevestnik", manufactured by the Arsenal plant) of 57 mm caliber and two machine guns, which was considered sufficient for performing patrol and rescue missions.

An optoelectronic device is installed on the project 22460 ship, which can be used to control weapons. It can also be used autonomously as a general ship sighting sighting search (autonomously or by target designation) and target designation. Today, the Russian Navy already has a variant of such a system - it is the SP-520M optical-electronic control system (OESU) for ship artillery fire, presented by the Amethyst design bureau in two versions at the International Naval Shows 2005-2009 in St. Petersburg. This device is an upgrade of the already well-known SP-520E "Condensor-M" system.

SP-520M is designed for autonomous or target designation from other means of search, target tracking, artillery fire control and MLRS. Usually this system is part of the overall structure of a multifunctional, multichannel artillery weapon complex. OESU has four external channels for receiving information: visual channel, television day and night channels, laser rangefinder (1.06 microns). In the cooperation of the SP-520M manufacturers, KB "Amethyst" (OESU), OJSC "LOMO" and NPK "Start" (optoelectronic module) are involved.

The ship houses the TRIMS-22460 navigation and tactical complex, created by the St. Petersburg firm Transzas. At the VII KOMPAS 3D Modeling Contest. In 2009 this work took the II place in Mechanical Engineering. Authors Yu.D. Vinokurov, V.V. Kupfer, N.V. Tsvetkov and D.V. Makarov.

Navigation-tactical complex "TRIMS-22460"

There is a high degree of probability that the ship of this project will be offered abroad. For this, a special project 22460E has been prepared in the Northern PKB. It is known that back in October 2006, Rosoboronexport proposed such a ship for a tender for Greece. In addition, the Severnoye PKB based on the project 22460 ship offers the PS-600 patrol and rescue vessel without weapons, but with a light helicopter of the Ka-226 type. A model of such a variant of the ship was recently demonstrated at IMDS-2009 in St. Petersburg.

The watchdog of project 22460 differs from its predecessors not so much in weapons as in shipbuilding qualities, said Vladimir Spiridopulo, General Director of the Northern PKB, at that time the chief engineer of the bureau, in 2008. So, the ship will be able to serve in a sea state of 6 points, while freely maneuvering. The patrol boat has a new hull shape, increased seaworthiness. Speed in calm water is 30 knots.

The first ship "Rubin" (serial number 501) project 22460

According to experts, the project 22460 ship is a "ship of the 21st century." In its creation, not only nano- and picotechnologies are used. All processes on the ship are automated, and the solution of all tasks is carried out fully automatically. In 2009, the Almaz Shipbuilding Company (St. Petersburg) began its sea trials.
November 25, 2011 PSKr "Brilliant" project 22460 (serial number 502), the second in the series or the first serial ship, was launched. To date, the second serial ship "Pearl" of project 22460 (serial number 503) has already been built.
The construction of the same type PSKr "Izumrud" (serial number 504) and "Amethyst" (serial number 505) is underway at the SF "Almaz". In November 2013, the Almaz Shipbuilding Company signed a contract for the construction of three more border patrol ships of Project 22460 Okhotnik (serial No. 506-508) for the Coast Guard of the FSB of Russia.
The Vostochnaya Verf shipyard in Vladivostok was connected to the construction of the series ships; today the construction of the Sapfir PSKr (No 300) and Coral (No 301) is underway, another ship (No 302) started there build.
The first ship "Rubin" (serial number 501) of project 22460 is based on the Black Sea. He took part in ensuring the security of the 2014 Olympics in Sochi.

While the fierce liberal howl about the arrest of three ships of the Ukrainian Navy fills the network and is broadcast from TV channels, it becomes more and more difficult to watch. Especially if you are a more or less educated person, for whom the concepts of "coast guard", "Black Sea Fleet", etc. - not an empty phrase, but quite specific things. It's no secret that this one was used by everyone in their favor (except for Russia, though).

For the president of the Square it is a chance to cancel the elections or at least postpone them, for the West - to prolong the next package of sanctions, for the homegrown opposition - another reason to throw mud at the Motherland, while using the same methodology: "Putin is losing his rating", and get its 30 pieces of silver from Western owners.

At the very beginning, the information space of Ukraine was flooded with a trend about an attempt to “heroically break through the blockade of Azov”. Which is quite understandable. More recently, Roman Mokryak, the commander of "Berdyansk", one of the artillery armored pelvis of the "Gyurza-M" type, talked about "packs of wolves", which supposedly could destroy the enemy with their numbers. Isn't he a hero? Ukrainian "naval commanders", it is true, have already poked holes for orders. But…

Later it turned out that after the very first kill shots at Berdyansk, Mokryak immediately stopped, surrendered and even began to ask the "damned Muscovites" for help for the three wounded. Apparently, assuming such a possibility from the very beginning and expecting that the "heroes of Ukraine" they praised in practice would turn out to be wet hens, soon the "unwilling" changed the trend to Yaroslavna's crying over tiny ships attacked by the "Russian fleet".

"Lads gutar, sho and bulo"

And the thicker the layer of mournful snot became, the more impressive the enemy ships of the Russians became. When their scale was comparable to that of a dreadnought, it seemed unfair to the author that the saga of the Nibelungs was already being forged about the "Gyurza-M" tubs, and there was not a word about the true heroes. At the same time, "heroes" are not an exaggeration, since Kerch crabs, about which pseudo-ecologists shouted so much, would now be feasted on by Ukrainian sailors, if not for the professionalism of our guys. But their nerves could well have given way, because, judging by the detailed information of the FSB of Russia (posted on the service's website), the Ukrainian Navy vessels tested the strength of the character of our sailors for several hours in a row.

So. First, the Russian fleet, which allegedly unleashed all its might on the "unfortunate boats" that went with uncovered weapons, like the lambs of God, at first did not appear at all for the historic battle. The small anti-submarine ship "Suzdalets", which, ironically, left the stocks of the "Leninskaya Kuznitsa" (now Poroshenko owns the plant) in Kiev in 1983, i.e. from the stocks of the same plant as the boats of the "Gyurza-M" type, was involved at the very end of the epic "battle". And only in order to observe the actions of the already stopped Nikopol.

The main characters in this drama were PSKR "Don" and PSKR "Izumrud", which belong to the Coast Guard of the Border Guard Service, i.e. to the FSB, not the navy. They were helped by boats of the Sobol and Mongoose types. But the first violin was played, of course, by the PSKR.

"Don" against the background of the Novorossiysk industrial zone

Let's start with the veteran, i.e. border patrol ship "Don". "Don" was launched from the stocks of the Yaroslavl shipyard more than 20 years ago, in August 1996, and was built according to the 745P project. This project was a continuation of a series of sea tugs of the 745 project back in the 70s and was modernized specifically for the needs of the Border Troops of the KGB of the USSR. On the basis of this project, however, both rescue ships and experimental ships were built. In total, about 20 ships were produced under the 745P project. All of them went to sea at two shipyards - Yaroslavl and Zelenodolsk. Their operation showed that the project was successful. The ships had good seaworthiness, moreover, they could work in difficult ice conditions. The author thinks this is very ironic, because it was “Don” who made the bulk on the tug of “Yana Kapu”. Even now, the product package of the Zelenodolsk plant includes a descendant of the 745th series - the 745MB sea tug.

Tugboat project 745MB

The ship "Don" has the following factory performance characteristics:

Full displacement 1620 tons;

Length 56.5 m, width 12.6 m, draft 4.6 m;
- full speed 13 knots;
- cruising range at full speed 6700 miles, economical speed - 8000 miles;
- autonomy from 30 to 40 days;
- power plant: 2x1500 hp, electric motors PG-950, 2 diesel generators 25DV-2 1100 kW each, 2 diesel generators 300 kW each, 2 diesel generators 100 kW each;
- armament consists of 30-mm six-barreled automatic naval artillery mounts AK-306 (they can be easily seen right in front of the wheelhouse).

Also "Don" is equipped with a navigation radar station of the same name. The crew is 47 people, including 6 officers and 4 warrant officers.

The construction of the Don, founded on December 18, 1991, was extremely difficult. The political turmoil, which paranoidly reasoned against the interests of the power, no longer saw the point in a reliable military shield, and therefore the coast guard ships seemed unnecessary. But in spite of the nonsense of the liberals of the 90s, the "Don" was nevertheless completed. And the difficult guard service began.

First, "Don" erased the tranquility of our shores in the Caspian Sea (up to October 2013). After the ship was transferred to the Black Sea, based in Novorossiysk, therefore, in the author's native bay, the silhouette of the "Don" was, so to speak, his own. After the return of the Crimea, "Don" settled in the Sevastopol Bay.

The second hero of the tragicomedy (although Poroshenko can turn everything into a tragedy) with the breakthrough of Ukrainians in Azov, PSKR "Izumrud", unlike his friend, looks like a modern muscular athlete. "Izumrud" was built according to project 22460, "Hunter" type.

This project under the code "Rubin" (the name is consonant with the name of the lead ship of the series) was developed in the Northern Design Bureau. The ships of this project have increased seaworthiness and are capable of operating at sea waves up to 6 points (wave height reaches 5-6 meters). And again, ironically, even during the design, the bureau introduced a number of features - it provides for the possibility of using ships of this type in various regions of the world, both in equatorial waters and in the north, in conditions of thin and broken ice. But most importantly, even in the project, the possibility of fulfilling the assigned task was laid down even after a collision with an intruding vessel, i.e. use of bulk.

"Emerald" on the slipways

PSKR "Izumrud", part of the series, which received the unofficial name "Precious stones" ("Ruby", "Diamond", "Amethyst", "Sapphire", etc.), was laid on September 21, 2012 at the shipyard "Almaz " in St. Petersburg. On August 14, 2013, the ship with serial number 504 was launched, and on June 27, 2014, the flag was raised on the ship, and the Emerald was handed over to the FSB. In July of the same year, PSKR "Izumrud" began the transition along inland waterways to the Black Sea, where it became part of the Black Sea-Azov border department of the Coast Guard of the FSB of Russia in Crimea, based on Balaklava.

"Emerald" in Balaklava

The ship "Izumrud" has the following factory performance characteristics:

Displacement of about 670 tons;
- length 62.5 m, width 11 m, draft 2.6-3.3 m;
- full speed 25 knots;
- cruising range at an economical speed of 8 knots - 3500 miles;
- autonomy up to 30 days;
- power plant: diesel engines with a capacity of 11520 kW (in this case, a real epic happened to the project - at first it was planned to install 4 German MTU 16V4000M73L, but in 2015 Germany broke the contract, and it was decided to supply Chinese engines to the ships);
- armament consists of a 30-mm automatic artillery mount AK-630M, two 12.7-mm heavy machine guns "Kord" or 14.5-mm MTPU.

Also, the designer assumed the use of eight Igla MANPADS as anti-aircraft weapons. Aircraft weapons are also provided. To do this, in the stern there is a take-off and landing pad for a Ka-226 light helicopter or for a UAV. One way or another, in addition to the "Emerald" at the moment, 12 more ships of this project have been built, not counting those laid down. All of them were built at two shipyards - Almaz and Vostochnaya Verf JSC.

But, alas, in the end, there is only an overflow of empty populism in the infoset. The author, of course, was not surprised by the schadenfreude of the home-grown oppositionists in view of the raised information wave. I was not surprised by the schadenfreude about the damage allegedly received by our ships, which is quite real, tk. bulk is an extremely dangerous and difficult technique. And it is not at all surprising the criticism of the sailors, erupting from the throats of the couch lampoons who have swum in fat, who are starting to rock from the sight of the ship.

What is really offensive is that the authorities did not announce an award corresponding to merit to the captains and crews of the ships that participated in the operation to prevent illegal border crossings. The author hopes that this is a consequence of the specifics of the Coast Guard service related to the FSB. After all, it will be a shame if the real work of people useful for the state is not noted, and the next package of awards goes to some bohemian clown who comes out of a binge solely in order not to breathe fumes on the president.

The Project 22460 Amethyst patrol ship, serial number 505, is the fifth ship being built at the Almaz Shipbuilding Company for the Coast Guard of the Frontier Service of the FSB of Russia. The lead ship is PSKr, the second (July 2012), the third (September 2012), the fourth (June 2014).

PSKr project 22460 are designed to protect the state border, territorial waters, the continental shelf, for emergency rescue operations, as well as for environmental control and elimination of the consequences of natural disasters. Along with the protection of the border, the task of ships of this class increasingly includes operations to combat terrorism and maritime piracy.

One of the main features of the ships of this project is the presence on board of a landing area for a light helicopter, as well as the presence in the stern of the ship of an inclined slip, on which a high-speed rigid-inflatable boat is installed, designed, for example, for the rapid delivery of an inspection party to the ship. - the intruder.

Patrol ship "Emerald"

The Coast Guard of the Border Directorate (BO PU) of the FSB of the Russian Federation in the Republic of Crimea received the first patrol ship of the second rank "Izumrud", said the head of the Crimean border department Gennady Medvedev at a ceremonial meeting.

"We are meeting a new border patrol ship" Izumrud ", which will become part of the border department of the FSB in the Republic of Crimea"

Prior to that, the Crimean border guards had only boats of the "Mongoose", "Sobol" and "Mars" projects. According to the maritime tradition, the ship was greeted by presenting the crew with a loaf and a roast pig.

Border patrol ship of the 2nd rank "Amethyst" of the Frontier Directorate of the FSB of Russia in the Republic of Crimea.

The order to enter the service in this area of the Black Sea "Amethyst" received after an incident that occurred the day before.

According to the Frontier Directorate of the FSB of Russia for the Republic of Crimea, on December 15 at 10:15 Moscow time, a ship of the State Border Service of Ukraine approached the jack-up floating drilling rig (jack-up rig) "Tavrida" belonging to "Chernomorneftegaz".

The commander of the ship contacted the Tavrida jack-up rig by radio with a request to provide information on the composition of the crew and the purpose of finding the Russian drilling rig in the area. The jack-up rig captain, realizing that the Ukrainian side does not have the authority to request this kind, did not provide information.

Then the Ukrainian ship headed for the facilities of Chernomorneftegaz located at the Golitsyn gas condensate field, where it took photographs and videos.

After receiving information about the actions of the Ukrainian warship, the leadership of the Frontier Directorate of the FSB of Russia for the Republic of Crimea decided to take measures to protect the interests of Russia.

Arriving at the place of duty, the patrol ship Amethyst discovered two ships of the Ukrainian Navy in the immediate vicinity of the Russian drilling platform.

"Amethyst" began combat patrols of the area in order to prevent possible provocations in the area of operation of "Chornomorskneftegaz".

The newest ship of the "Rubin" project

The patrol patrol ship of the territorial sea of the second rank "Amethyst" was built at the shipyards of JSC "Shipbuilding firm" Almaz "in St. Petersburg. The "Amethyst" was transferred to the border service of the FSB of the Russian Federation in October 2014, a year earlier than the deadline established by the contract. After completing the tests, the ship began combat service in the Black Sea. The patrol is based in Balaklava.

"Amethyst" refers to the ships of the project 22460 "Rubin". It is designed to protect the state border, territorial waters, the continental shelf, to carry out emergency rescue operations, as well as to carry out environmental control and eliminate the consequences of natural disasters. Along with protecting the border, the task of ships of this class may include operations to combat terrorism and sea piracy.

The lead ship of the Rubin project entered service in 2010. He took part in ensuring the safety of the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi.

In total, it is planned to build 30 ships of this type. Currently, 6 ships of Project 22460 are in combat service, the newest of which is the Amethyst. Five more ships of this type are under construction.

For pirates, a helicopter and gun mount, for the crew - a sauna with a swimming pool

"Amethyst" and its "brethren" can carry out combat service in a sea state of 6 points, while freely maneuvering. Ships of project 22460 have increased seaworthiness and can reach speeds of up to 30 knots.

The outer contours of the ship are designed using elements of stealth technology.

The uniqueness of the ships of this project lies in the fact that, with a small displacement, they are able to take on board a helicopter, which significantly expands the functionality of the vessel.

Amethyst can monitor and control large areas far from the coastal zone. The data is transmitted on board the vessel using a special information system created using modern electronic technologies. Many processes in the control of the ship are automated, and therefore the number of the crew is reduced to a minimum.

The ship's crew is 24 people. Combat armament "Amethyst" consists of one 30-mm automatic six-barreled gun mount AK-630, and two 12.7-mm machine guns "Kord". The combat power of the patrol can be enhanced by placing on board A-220M gun mounts and launchers of the Uran anti-ship missile system.

For the needs of the crew, "Amethyst" is equipped with a desalination plant and a sauna with a mini-pool.

It is likely that while patrolling in the area of the Chornomorskneftegaz drilling rigs, Russian sailors will only need a sauna with a mini-pool, and not combat weapons. The very presence of a Russian warship can discourage the implementation of all sorts of dubious adventures.
