What does the red light on the air conditioner mean? Deciphering and instructions for error codes for General Climate air conditioners. Error codes on displays

Deciphering error codes for air conditioners General climate makes it possible, without calling the master from the service, to troubleshoot.

Air conditioner error codes , displayed on the remote control:

  • E2 - no contact with the temperature sensor;
  • E3 - no contact with the evaporator temperature sensor;
  • E4 - no contact with the temperature sensor of the condenser;
  • E5 - the temperature of the drain pump motor is increased;
  • E6 - the protection mode of the outdoor unit is on (break in the electrical circuit, protection against overheating);
  • E7 - no contact with EEPROM;
  • E8 - the water drain pan is filled to the top.

Error codes on displays

Some errors can be fixed on your own. To eliminate others, you will have to contact a specialist:

  • operation+timer+def/fan – too much voltage is applied to the compressor more than once every 15 minutes. Disconnect the air conditioner from the electrical outlet;
  • water alarm LED (flashing) – there is too much water in the condensate tank for no more than 3 minutes. You must manually start the drain pump;
  • water alarm LED (constantly lit) – the tank has been overfilled for more than 3 minutes. The device is in emergency mode. In order to eliminate this error code, disconnect it from the electricity;
  • def/fan (pre/def) – no contact with the temperature sensor on the condenser. The device will start working as soon as the temperature sensor turns on;
  • All the lights are blinking - violation of the function of the outdoor unit (overheating or hypothermia, power failure);
  • Timer - short circuit or no contact with the internal temperature sensor;
  • Operation - there is no contact with the temperature sensor on the evaporator or a short circuit in it;
  • operation+timer – violation of contact with EEPROM. You will not be able to fix this error yourself, since you need to install a new control board.

Error codes for split systems type S-HR

Even for one equipment manufacturer, the designations are always different, so you should carefully study the instructions and know the exact model of your air conditioner and its units (internal and external). Only after these actions, you can choose the exact decoding of such codes on the air conditioner as pre / def. Below is a table just for such a case.

Be careful, these codes are valid for the following models: S12HR, S09HR, S18HR, S07HR.

The indoor unit of the air conditioner can diagnose problems and solve them at the same time (if possible). The list of faults and their codes are contained in the table (see below).
During the fault diagnosis process, the green indicator (P) and the orange indicator (R) flash at a frequency of 0.1 seconds, indicating a fault code. The orange indicator (R) corresponds to tens in number - a malfunction code. The green indicator (P) corresponds to the units in the number - the fault code.
There are 2 seconds between blinking orange and green indicators. The sequence is repeated at intervals of 4 seconds.

Example: fault code 13:

  • Orange indicator blinks once
  • Both indicators are off 2 seconds
  • The green indicator flashes three times with an interval of 0.5 seconds.
  • Both indicators are off 4 seconds

The sequence is repeated until the fault is corrected. If the fault code is less than 10, then the orange indicator does not blink.

SYMPTOMS THAT ARE NOT DEFECTS OF THE AIR CONDITIONER
Symptom 1: The air conditioner is not working
■ The air conditioner does not start immediately after pressing the power ON/OFF button on the remote control. If the operation indicator is lit, the system is in normal condition. To prevent the compressor motor from being overloaded, the air conditioner starts 3 minutes after the button is pressed.

■ If the "PRE-DEF*" operation and defrost indicators are lit, the heating mode is selected. When the air conditioner is turned on, the compressor does not start immediately (when the anti-cold air protection function is activated) because the temperature of the air leaving the indoor unit is too low.

Symptom 2: Switching to fan only mode during cooling operation
■ To prevent freezing of the indoor unit's evaporator, the system automatically switches to fan only mode, and returns to cooling mode after a while.

■ When the room temperature drops to the set value, the compressor stops and the indoor unit automatically switches to Fan Only mode, and when the temperature rises, the compressor starts again. The same principle of operation is incorporated into the control system when operating in heating mode.

Symptom 3: White mist comes out of the unit
Symptom 3.1: indoor unit
■ When the relative humidity is high and the inside surface of the cooling unit is very dirty, the temperature distribution in the room becomes uneven. The indoor unit needs to be completely cleaned. For details on cleaning, contact your local dealer. This work must be carried out by a qualified person.

Symptom 3.2: indoor and outdoor units
■ When the system switches to heating mode after completion of the defrosting operation, the moisture formed during defrosting turns into steam and is discharged from the system.

Symptom 4: Air conditioner noise in cooling mode
Symptom 4.1: indoor unit
■ A continuous low hissing sound is heard when the system is running in the cooling mode or in the stop state.
A sound is heard when the drain pump (optional accessory) is operating.

■ A soft crackling sound is heard when the system is stopped while in heating mode.
The reason for the appearance of sounds is the deformation of plastic parts when their temperature changes.

Symptom 4.2: indoor and outdoor units
■ A continuous low hissing sound is heard during system operation. The sound is caused by the passage of refrigerant vapor through the indoor and outdoor units.

■ At start-up, immediately after the stop operation is completed, or during the defrost operation, a small hissing sound is heard. The sound occurs when the speed of circulation of the refrigerant through the refrigeration circuit changes.

Symptom 4.3: outdoor unit
■ The pitch of the sound of the operating air conditioner changes. Pitch change is caused by rotation speed change
fan.

Symptom 5: Dust is blown out of the unit
■ When using the air conditioner for the first time after a long period of inactivity.
Dust accumulated in the unit during the period of inactivity is blown out of the unit.

Symptom 6: The unit emits strange odors
■ The unit can absorb room odors, furniture, tobacco smoke, etc., and then release them into the airflow.

Symptom 7: Outdoor unit fan speed is low
■ While the air conditioner is operating, the fan speed is adjusted to optimize system performance.

TROUBLESHOOTING
Air conditioner malfunctions and their causes
If any of the following malfunctions occur, stop the air conditioner, turn off the power, and contact your local service organization.

■ The unit operation indicator flashes quickly (5 flashes per second). The operation indicator continues to flash quickly after turning the power off and on again (see tables 7-1a, 7-1 b and 7-2).
■ The remote control has malfunctioned, or the remote control buttons do not function.
■ The safety device (fuse or circuit breaker) trips frequently.
■ Foreign objects or water have entered the unit.
■ Water is leaking from the indoor unit.
■ Other malfunctions have occurred.
If the air conditioner malfunctions, except for the above cases or malfunctions, the causes of which are obvious, analyze the behavior of the air conditioner according to the recommendations below (see table).

Why is the air conditioner blinking (flashing)?

The blinking of the air conditioner indicates the errors of its operation. It warns the user about the presence of malfunctions, ignoring which can lead to extremely undesirable consequences - failure of the engine, compressor or board. Blinking indicators are equipped with those models of home air conditioners that are equipped with a self-diagnosis system. It prevents the device from turning on and causes the timer to flash.

The blinking of the air conditioner can signal the following malfunctions:

  • The communication between the indoor and outdoor unit is broken;
  • Increased or reduced voltage in the network;
  • Refrigerant pressure exceeded;
  • Compressor temperature out of range;
  • Broken evaporator temperature sensor;
  • There is no outflow of condensate, etc.

It is impossible to independently establish the cause of the blinking of the air conditioner, and even more so to eliminate the malfunction. This is only possible for experienced specialists, who are the masters of our company. Right on the spot, they will carry out a complete diagnosis of the operation of the air conditioner and perform all the necessary repairs. Air conditioners have become indispensable household appliances designed to maintain human comfort. But due to the many different buttons, sometimes, especially for beginners, it is difficult to choose and find the right air conditioner mode.

Using this device is not as difficult as it might seem at the very beginning. As a rule, the buttons and their designations are the same on all remotes, and if you learn and remember them, you can easily use different models in the future.

The remote control is a monoblock with control buttons and a display that shows the selected mode. At the very end is a special LED with infrared rays. Thanks to this diode, when the device is directed to the air conditioning device, it is possible to remotely control household appliances. When you constantly press the button with your finger, the signal goes all the time to the air conditioner, and the battery charge is wasted. But in a quiet state of the remote control, the battery is not active, which helps to consume electrical energy economically.

Remote control with a classic set of buttons

Designations on the remote control of air conditioners

Consider the main designations on the control device:

  1. The dry function, located in the air conditioner, dehumidifies the air in the apartment. This button is very helpful during periods of rain, in autumn or spring before turning on the heating, when the humidity is high in the room.
  2. The TRV button means the operation of the thermostatic valve. In other words, with this function, you can adjust the operation of the cooling.
  3. The fan icon means fan speed control or air flow intensity mode. By pressing this button again, you can change the speed of operation to the desired one.
  4. The heat function on any air conditioner literally translates as heating. You can turn on the heating of the room due to warm air currents. The heating mode heat is indicated by a schematic drawing of the sun on the air conditioner.
  5. The dehumidification mode is the same dry mode in the air conditioner, only it is called differently and has a designation in the form of a drop.
  6. The cool button performs the opposite function to heating. With this button, you can turn on the room cooling mode. This is especially good on hot summer days, when the heat makes staying in a city apartment unbearable. This button is marked with a snowflake.
  7. The TURBO function means enhanced blowing. By turning it on, you can force the fan to supply an increased air flow at high speed. Thus, artificial ventilation of the room is carried out without opening windows. And yes, it will take a lot less time.

TURBO button

  1. The Swing function helps the air to be evenly distributed throughout the apartment. This happens due to the special movement of the dampers.
  2. Ifeel mode is designed to determine the individual comfort temperature. Due to the fact that users often do not know what room temperature will be most comfortable for them, there is an unreasonable waste of electricity. And in this case, the I feel button comes to the rescue. The technology is highly accurate: if for some reason the temperature in the apartment is below the required degree, the household appliance, set to this mode, starts to warm the air, turning on the heat mode automatically. Conversely, when the temperature rises, the device immediately turns on the air cooling. Thanks to this function, the temperature in the room will be maintained in the most comfortable way to stay.
  3. Hi or H1 - the designation of these characters appears on the screen during failures as an error. When these combinations appear on the display, you should know that the device, for some reason, has entered the defrost mode. In order to fix the error, simply turn off the remote control, wait a while and turn it on again. After that, you can set the desired mode.
  4. Pre def is also an error code often encountered in the operation of air conditioners. It means that contact with the temperature sensor is temporarily lost. This happens due to various failures in the electronic system or in case of problems with electricity. In order to restore the operation of the device, you just need to wait until contact with the temperature sensor is resumed.
  5. On Timer / Off Timer - setting will help set the device to automatic mode. It can be configured to turn off or turn on the desired mode at a specific specified time. This function is very convenient at night or during the absence of the owners of the apartment.

On/off timer button

  1. Buttons for turning on and off the household appliance are necessary in order to turn on or off the equipment if necessary.
  2. The cancel button or CANCEL helps the user to cancel the mode set by mistake.
  3. With the CLOCK button, you can set the time, which is very convenient for automatic mode, on and off timer, and simply using this device as a clock.
  4. The LOCK function helps to lock all buttons on the remote control. This function helps out when there are children or pets in the family, and they can accidentally press and thereby knock down all the settings.
  5. If the remote has a backlight function, the LED button may come in handy. It is needed to automatically illuminate the remote control. Works well in the dark.

What to do if the air conditioner does not follow the remote control commands

If the device does not respond to the remote control, you should:

  • make sure that the power supply system is working;
  • check the integrity of the case, screen, buttons;
  • make sure that the remote control emits infrared rays by taking a photo, otherwise you will need to purchase a new remote control;
  • check the electrical network in the room to eliminate the cause of power surges;
  • check the batteries for functionality.

In order for the remote control not to be lost and not subjected to mechanical stress, shock, pressure, it is necessary to purchase a special mount for it. You need to install it in a place accessible for use, handy and convenient.

The air conditioner remote control is an important component of this household appliance. Without it, the air conditioner can only be started in automatic mode. But if for some reason the remote control is lost or broken and cannot be restored, you can purchase a universal one suitable for all models and manufacturers.

Universal air conditioner remote control

An inverter air conditioner is a device whose operation is independently regulated by a compressor. When the maximum temperature is reached, such an air conditioner does not turn off, but reduces degrees to maintain a comfortable temperature at a constant level.

If you take a little time and understand the designations of the buttons on the remote control of the air conditioner, it turns out that using this device is not so difficult. Moreover, only a few main buttons stand out, the rest are used quite rarely.
