You can use your creations yourself or make great gift friends and relatives. Try to make a bomb exactly according to the recipe, and when you understand the technology, experiment with the ingredients.

Step # 1 Equipment

For a homemade bomb you will need:

  • kitchen scale
  • large mixing bowl
  • cold water spray
  • latex gloves for hand protection
  • eye protection
  • gauze dust mask
  • sieve to sift the mixture
  • bomb molds (if you haven't found a spherical mold, you can use any options for baking, for ice cubes, etc.)

Step # 2 Ingredients

  • 300 g soda
  • 150 g citric acid
  • 5-10 ml of essential or aromatic oil of your choice
  • 5 ml of plain oil (this can be sunflower, olive, grape, sweet almond, jojoba oil or others, of your choice)
  • food coloring of the desired color

Smaller bombs are best because they hold up better, and larger bombs tend to fall apart.

One more thing: start with a small amount, because first you need to find the best consistency. When making bombs, everything is important, up to the weather conditions - when high humidity you need to add less water, otherwise the bomb will turn into a bubbling mass.

Step # 3 Mix the ingredients

Sift the baking soda through a sieve into a large mixing bowl to avoid lumps. Combine baking soda and citric acid in a bowl.

Step # 4 Add oil

Add aromatic and regular oils to a bowl. Most essential oils won't make the mixture sizzle, but some, mostly citrus fruits, can. If this happens, mix them as quickly as possible.

Do not mix aroma and essential oils together - add either one or the other.

Step # 5 Separate the mixture

If you decide to make colorful balls, it's time to divide the mixture into different containers in order to color in different ways. In the photo, the mixture was divided into three parts.

Step 6 Paint

Now we start to paint the mixture. If using food or cosmetic color, add it drop by drop to get desired color... Stir the mixture quickly with your hands so that it does not foam.

If you are using powder dye, just add a little to the mixture and stir until you get the color you want.

Stir until the mixture is uniform and free from stains. Mix especially carefully if you are using powder dye. It is best to "grind" the mixture between your fingers.

If the mixture becomes wetter, do not leave it, or it may settle. On the contrary, you need to get everything done as quickly as possible.

Step # 7 Add water

Add some water from the spray, then stir continuously to avoid sizzling. Be careful not to add too much water - the mixture should remain a little crumbly, but stick together if you just squeeze it in your hand.

Step # 8 Fill out the form

Fill out the form with the mixture. If you are using two halves of a sphere, put the mixture in each of them and hold them together. Don't twist the halves, just press them firmly together. Wait a few minutes, then carefully remove the bonded mixture from the mold.

Step number 9 Dry

Leave the finished bombs in a dry and warm place for several hours.

Step number 10 We use or give

That's it, your fragrant homemade bath bombs are ready. Just dip them in hot water and enjoy.

Remember, the fresher the bomb, the more it will sizzle, and if you are not packing your items, it is best to store them in a dry place. You can wrap them in plastic wrap to keep them fresh for longer.

Well, if you decide to donate them, just select beautiful packaging and a ribbon, and the gift is ready.

Bath bombs are small balls that, when in contact with water, begin to fizzle and bubble. It turns out a kind of jacuzzi effect. In addition, bombs can change the color of the water, create foam, and fill the air with pleasant aromas. Depending on the ingredients, you can make bombs that will soften and moisturize your skin.

Bath bombs are also called geysers for their ability to dispense a large number of bubbles. You can buy such a geyser at any beauty store. However, it is not cheap, although it often consists of simple components. In order not to spend money on items that you can make yourself, let's try to make a bomb with your own hands.

Bomb ingredients

To make the bomb not only sizzle, but also safe and healthy, it must be prepared with the right ingredients.

  1. Baking soda. When purchasing, please note the production date of the product. Expired soda can lose its properties and when combined with other ingredients, such soda will not give a reaction.
  2. Lemon acid. Baking soda and acid are two essential and basic ingredients that give the desired sizzle response when in contact with water. If citric acid is not on hand, you can use fresh lemon juice. But in this case, the bomb will boil a little less, although you will get a funky citrus aroma. Also, if you replace citric acid with natural juice, you will have to add more dry ingredient to get a fairly thick mass.
  3. Starch. Better to take corn - it dissolves quickly and does not leave particles behind. If starch is not at hand, it can be replaced with milk powder. Basically, starch is just a bulking material to give the bomb. In addition, the starch helps the geyser to boil longer than usual.
  4. Oils. As you know, any cosmetic oil works great on the skin, especially dry and lifeless. By adding a little oil to your bombs, you will make a product that is not only beautiful, but also good for the skin. For the geyser, you can use any oil - almond, coconut, peach, linseed. Sea buckthorn oil will not only moisturize your skin, but it will also give your pale body a subtle glow thanks to its orange... If there are no cosmetic oils, use a simple olive or sunflower oil - it is also incredibly beneficial for the skin, gives the epidermis firmness and elasticity. If you don't love oil formulations, make a bomb without them, their use is optional.
  5. Essential oils. Smells are another ingredient for comfortable relaxation. Essential oils can be bought at the pharmacy, where they are presented in a wide range. The scent of sandalwood will help you calm down, relieve depression, and overcome stress. Rose essential oil will give you a delicate aroma, heal wounds on the body, after such a bath you can sleep peacefully and for a long time. The smell of orange has a beneficial effect on nervous system, you can relieve anxiety, improve performance. Bergamot essential oil will not only give you a tart aroma, but also allow you to suppress the activity of the sweat glands. Choose whichever bomb oil you want. Perhaps today you decide to work all night, and you need an invigorating citrus scent. And tomorrow, tired of a hard day, you will want to relax and a bomb with the smell of pine needles will help you with this.
  6. Dye. To make the bomb not only fragrant and useful, but also beautiful, you need to add dye to it. It can be ordinary watercolor or gouache, but it is safer to use food-grade paints, since the coloring pigment comes into contact with a large area of the skin. You can buy food colors at any grocery store and are quite rich and deep. If you're looking for naturalness, you can use beet juice, which will give you a deep pink hue. Turmeric will give your bomb a golden tint. Purple can be achieved using blueberry or currant juice. But green tint made from spinach and parsley juice.
  7. Soapy component. To make the bomb interesting, you can add a soapy component to its composition. Thanks to this component, the bomb will not only bubble and boil, it will begin to give out foam. As a soap component, you can use shower gel, bath foam, shampoo, or plain liquid soap.

In addition to the main ingredients, you can add anything you want to the bomb. This can be sea salt, which will improve the condition of your skin, or a decoction of the string, which will soothe and heal minor wounds on the body. Anything that comes to your mind can be part of a geyser. But how to cook it so that everything works out?

Let's take a basic recipe for making a bomb. For it, we need citric acid, soda, starch, peppermint essential oil, some bubble bath, green dye and a spoonful of peach oil.

  1. To prepare bombs, you need to take plastic or porcelain dishes. This is especially true for a spoon - an ordinary metal one can oxidize.
  2. Citric acid, starch and soda must be sifted through a sieve so that there are no hard sticky pieces left in the mass. Mix these ingredients in the following proportions - two parts citric acid, the same amount of baking soda and one part starch. If you take 2 tablespoons of acid and soda, as well as one spoonful of starch, you get about three small bombs.
  3. Take all the powders and mix them thoroughly. Add a tablespoon of bubble bath, a few drops of color and peppermint essential oil. Now you should mix everything thoroughly, the intensity of the bubbling of the bomb depends on it. If the mass is too thick, add a little more foam, if too thin, increase the amount of starch. Do not add water to the mass. Maximum, you can sprinkle the porridge with a small spray from a spray bottle. If you add water, the mass will begin to hiss strongly - the reaction will occur earlier than planned and the mass will crystallize incorrectly. After that, it will lose its properties and will not sizzle when it gets into water.
  4. Knead the dough from the prepared mass and divide it into several parts. Production bombs round shape, and we can make them whatever. In fact, the shape is not important - after all, you immediately throw the mass into the water, and it will quickly dissolve. To form bombs, you can use silicone muffin molds, plastic containers for freezing ice. So that after freezing the bombs move well from the mold, the container is pre-lubricated vegetable oil... If molds are not at hand, simply roll the mass into balls and place on a cutting board.
  5. When the bombs are ready, they should be sent to the refrigerator, or better - to the freezer, where they will grip better and will defrost longer when thrown into the water, which means that the boiling process will take a long time.

This is an easy way to make sizzling bath bombs. But the recipe can be varied, getting incredibly beautiful, fragrant and unusual bombs.

What other bath bombs can you make

There are many variations of this product. Here are a few interesting recipes making geysers that you will surely enjoy.

  1. Lemon bombs. Mix half a cup of baking soda with a quarter cup of starch and citric acid. Add yellow dye and lemon essential oil to the mixture. An excellent decorative element will be obtained by adding yellow petals of any flower, for example, a daffodil. You can add chopped fresh lemon zest to the mass. Mix all ingredients and freeze as in the previous recipe.
  2. Candy bombs. Take a base - citric acid, soda and starch. To give the geyser a cheerful color, you can add bright colors to your taste. Use plain vanillin as an aroma ingredient. The bomb will turn out in this case appetizing and caramel.
  3. Rainbow bombs. To prepare this composition, you will need several colors. However, if we add them to the same container, they will mix and the result will definitely not please us. Therefore, we make a base from the usual components and divide it into several parts. We add our own shade to each part - red, green, yellow. Then we shift the three masses into one container and sprinkle with sparkles. Stir, but not very intensely, so that the colors differ and do not turn into a homogeneous mess. When the bombs are thrown into the water, it will boil in different shades, and the sparkles will make the show even more colorful.
  4. Milk rose. These bombs will come in handy during a romantic date. For their preparation, we take a base of citric acid and soda. Instead of starch, it is better to use powdered milk here, it will make the water slightly whitish after dissolving and give a milky flavor. To enhance the color effect, use white food paint. For the scent, add rose essential oil. Decorative element- pink or scarlet rose petals. Mix everything and freeze as usual. If it gets into the water, a seething will appear, light petals will begin to float to the surface, the water will turn milky, the bath will be filled with a delicate floral scent - an atmosphere for a romantic evening.

Bath bombs are a great way to make bathing more enjoyable. Bombs are different colors, shapes and sizes and may have a different smell. They often contain moisturizing oils that are good for the skin. But how do you apply these dusty and tough lumps? In this article, you will learn not only how to use bombs, but also how to choose them and how to use them as efficiently as possible.

Steps

How to use bath bombs

Choose a bomb. Bath bombs come in a wide variety of colors, shapes, and sizes, and can also have a variety of scents. Some have flower petals or glitter inside, others contain oils that moisturize the skin well (for example, almond oil or cocoa butter). Pick a bomb that smells and colors you like best. If you have dry skin, look for oil bombs to moisturize your skin. Bombs may contain the following substances:

    • Essential oils (lavender, chamomile, rose). They not only give the bomb a pleasant smell, but also promote relaxation or invigorate.
    • Emollient and nourishing oils and butters: almond oil, coconut oil, shea butter or cocoa butter. These oils are suitable for dry skin.
    • Other additives: shine or petals of flowers that float on the surface of the water. They are needed only for beauty and can improve mood.
    • Salt, clay in powder or herb form. They soften, moisturize and nourish the skin.
  1. Try wrapping a cloth around the bomb. Some bombs have petals that can get stuck in the bath drain. To prevent this from happening, place the bomb in a small cloth bag or nylon stocking. Detergents, fragrances and oils will penetrate the water through the fabric, and the petals will remain inside. When you're done bathing, you just need to empty the bag or throw it away.

Try to split the bomb in two. Bath bombs are quite expensive, but you can split the bombs in half with a barbed knife to get more long term... Use one half now and save the other for next time.

Plug the drain in the bathroom and draw in water. If you are making a bath for yourself, you should be comfortable there. Draw as much water as you like and adjust the temperature. When you have collected the required amount of water, close the tap.

Put the bomb in the water. When the bomb is in the water, it will bubble and foam. Then it begins to fall apart and dissolve, and all the useful oils and salts will be in the water.

Take off your clothes and stand with your feet in the tub. You can do this after the bomb has completely dissolved, or you can not wait for this moment.

Sit in the bath. Get into a comfortable position. Close your eyes, relax, meditate, or read a book. The bomb will dissolve, and the water will contain essential oils, nourishing and moisturizing oils and all other substances: petals, glitter, dyes.

When the water has cooled down, get out of the tub and dry off. The water will gradually get colder. It will be possible to get out of the bath and flush the water. Don't stay in the water long time as the skin will wrinkle with moisture.

Take a shower. It is not necessary to shower after a bath with a bomb, but if you have used a dye or glitter bomb it will be helpful. Drain off the water, rinse in the shower, and wash off the oil from your skin. You can also wash with a washcloth and shower gel.

Wash the tub. Some bombs contain substances that can stain the bathtub. The easiest way to wash off the paint is when it is damp. Take a sponge and scrub the stained areas. If there are petals or sparkles in the bathtub, remove them with your hands or wash them off with water.

    Other uses for bath bombs

    1. Remember that the bomb cannot be stored for a long time. Bombs retain their shape only in a dry room, but the fresher the bomb, the more foam will be when it dissolves. If the bomb is stored for too long, there will be much less foam and bubbles.

Relieve nasal congestion. For colds, you can clean your nose with an eucalyptus oil bomb. Fill the bathtub with warm water, throw such a bomb there and climb into the water.

Have an aromatherapy session. Many bombs contain essential oils that have a positive effect on mood and help you relax, get rid of stress, or vice versa - feel cheerful. When choosing a bomb, pay attention to the composition and find out what essential oils are there. Essential oils also give off a scent, so choose a scent that is pleasing to you. Below we provide a list of the most common oils in bombs and their possible uses:
