The best medical university in Russia was established in 1758. There are 10 faculties in the structure of MGMU, as well as the Clinical Center, which unites 17 clinics of various profiles for 3 thousand places, and the Research Center. At the same time, 9,000 students from different countries receive education at MGMU.

Let's start with those universities that are heard the most - both in a good and in a bad sense. I have heard a lot from my colleagues about the "best" "most prestigious" medical universities - Moscow and St. Petersburg: First MGMU im. Sechenov, Russian National Research Medical University named after Pirogov, medical and dental them. Evdokimov and North-Western State Medical University named after I. Mechnikov, St. Pavlova, respectively. I also heard about other medical universities on this side of the Urals: Rostov, Samara. Heard about the situation in others. What situation? The fact is that in each of them, to one degree or another, so to speak, gravity, bribery flourishes, which has turned over time in some of them into general venality and even extortion. In my humble opinion, it is this scheme that turns these universities into prestigious ... The dominance of homeopathy and its introduction into the educational program in the capital's universities is worth a separate mention. Unfortunately, judging by the stories, this is the case. I can’t say anything about this on my own, because I didn’t study there.

If you come from abroad, then you will be interested in the fact that these universities have different attitudes towards the formation of groups of students (the attitude can change from year to year depending on the rector, so it makes no sense to voice specific names ( most likely, adjusted), and new students will be enrolled in the first year - this is also done to form the prestige of the university, since international integration makes a plus in the ranking.

As for the points, the groups are most often formed by points: in the first group, the minimum average, in the last, the maximum average.

From an old friend I heard about the affairs of the St. Petersburg Chemical Pharmaceutical Academy, but this is already a rather narrowly focused university, if you are more interested not in medicine, but in pharmaceuticals. Everything there seems to be relatively good.

Despite everything, everyone tries to enter them, so the points for admission to them are very high (from 260-270 to 300 and above - yes, it happens even higher if someone did not know).

In turn, I myself study in Tomsk at the Siberian State Medical University. As far as I know from personal experience and, again, from the stories of the closest acquaintances in my university, here from the students at any department was not required and is not required the forced purchase of methodological department manuals, as in a number of the above universities, which contain monstrously outdated, and sometimes completely false information, as in the same number of universities (on the contrary, if we publish a manual, then the information in it is updated almost every year), and here I heard only two exceptional cases of bribes and one systematic phenomenon: once at the department of the Latin language and at the department of physical culture and systematically at the Department of Normal Physiology (I ask you to forgive my colleagues, whose secret I am disclosing to everyone), where they bring wine and red caviar so that the teachers at the exam are busy with a meal, and not checking tickets - although in other universities there is generally a list of examination questions replaced with a shopping list. And yes, in our university they look at homeopathy sensibly and give its preachers a turn from the gate. To make it clear, I do not regret at all that I entered this particular specialty, and that I earned all the knowledge and grades solely by my honest efforts, unlike my colleagues from universities in the European part of Russia.

In our country, foreigners are singled out into separate groups only if they come to exchange in whole groups. This is how we deal with the Indians, for example. However, many black African students study in groups of medical and pediatric faculties on a par with Russians and guests from neighboring countries in an even mixture. Usually they quickly master and overcome the language barrier by the end of the first semester, and fully master spoken language after one and a half to two years (sometimes it takes a little longer).

In our university, the formation of groups does not depend on the points, but in one group there will definitely be someone with the minimum, and someone with the maximum, in order to create a platform for increasing the performance of the initially not the most successful former students.

And in general, perhaps, in my university the admission scores are not that high (from 210-220 to 260-270, depending on the faculty). As for the students from the CIS, in our country they are mainly represented by students from Kazakhstan, so we treat them like relatives.

So, if you want to make connections, of course you can go to prestigious university, save money and pay for exams, only deciding for yourself what you should know and what you should not, or know nothing if your conscience does not gnaw; - if knowledge is dear to you and you sincerely love and respect the art of medicine, forget about the capital's universities and go, for example, to our harsh and sincere Siberia. However, in the end, in our time, there is nowhere without self-education, so you cannot reach heights either there or here, if you limit yourself only to the materials that are presented to you (or not) at the university.
