The foundation

Found old board for drawing that was ventilated on fresh air last few years. He led her in order, scolding the strengthened edges and made it the basis for the future cutter.

Knife guide

The steel 100-centimeter ruler, though, shorten by 20 cm, came just for the guide line for the knife. To give it hardness, a duralumin rule for construction work was also bought. He also had to shorten the size of me.

Now it was necessary to securely secure the ruler on the duralumin rule. It was coming in handy once dousant rivets made to me, produced in the Union.

For better fixation, the bolt line made guides. At the same time, the holes for them drilled slightly smaller diameter than the bolts themselves. It helped tightly screw them into the board. Additionally, recorded bolts with nuts with special sleeves that impede spontaneous unscrewing.

From above, the line pulled with lamb nuts, which are well twisted with their hands. Under the ruler on the bolts, the springs was put on. If the lambs are unscrewed, the ruler on the springs is raised, and your hands will be released to work with paper.

I note that with the selected length of the cut line, even the rule is a thickness of 2 cm. After the clamp of the screws, it can bentified, and that the sheet of paper does not slip, the line in its central part is better to hold the hand.

By the way, it is more convenient to position the sheet of paper perpendicular to the line, I additionally secured an aluminum corner. It also placed an aluminum square with restraints for a sheet of paper also placed on its part. If you fix this focus using a clamp in the corner, then positioning the sheet of paper before fixing the line can be much faster.

Substrate

As a substrate for cutting paper, I chose a glass from furniture wall. Although it is better, of course, order glass of the desired size with treated edges in the workshop.

In the case when I need to cut a thick binding cardboard, I use corrugated cardboard sheets as a substrate. The length of the guide bolts completely allows you to do it.

The only drawback of this cutter, which I can not say, is a small backlash rule on bolts-guides. It must be taken into account, spinning the shell screws to fix the paper sheet. The backlash appeared due to the inconsistency of the diameter of the bolts and the diameter of the planting holes under the bolts in the rule. But it is rather a lack of construction, and not the technology of its manufacture.
