Even with the most modest footage of the room, organza curtains are the best choice that does not lead to a decrease in precious space, as is the case with dense and heavy fabrics.

Other attractive qualities include:

  • Easy to care for the fabric,
  • Strength,
  • Long service life,
  • Weightlessness, lightness and beauty,
  • Huge selection of textures and colors.

Often, it is organza that is used for self-tailoring of curtains, because even the simplest model can look very dignified, without requiring a lot of experience. Those who are far from the art of sewing, but really want to try their hand, this will be a great start. And for more skilled craftswomen, sewing curtains with their own hands is an opportunity to create an individual option.

Selecting fabric and taking measurements

The wide assortment that is presented in fabric stores will allow you to choose exactly what you need:

  • A fabric of such a shade that will accentuate the interior or become an accent,
  • A drawing that conveys the mood of the design,
  • A pattern that adds elegance and sophistication to the finished product,
  • Silver or gold shades, chameleon color or matt gloss.

Having decided on the type of fabric, it is necessary to correctly calculate the amount of material required to make curtains for a particular window and braids for them, and also choose the desired length. The diagrams below will allow you to determine the increments to each of the quantities (length and width) and will be good helpers in the measurement process.

If the future curtain reaches the level of the floor, then in the finished form it should be slightly longer. This is very important for subsequent design, when the use of grabs is expected. The type of cornice is also of great importance - measurements are taken from the hooks to the floor level with an increase of about 2 centimeters. If you plan to hang the curtain on the lower loops of the braid, then its width is taken into account, which can be proportionally larger.

The width of the curtain is calculated in relation to the desired amount and width of the assembly. In this case, the assembly factor will determine the number by which the width must be multiplied: 1: 1.5, 1: 2, or 1: 3, adding approximately 10 centimeters. It is important to remember that excess tissue is not as bad for the end result as lack of it.

Required tools

To enjoy the process and get a beautiful product as a result, you need to prepare in advance everything that may be required in the process of work:

  • The fabric is the right size.
  • A tape that will serve as a fastener for the curtain.
  • Trim for processing the bottom edge of the curtain, matching the color of the base material.
  • Sewing machine.
  • Threads, needles, pins.
  • Scissors.

The sewing machine must be pre-adjusted and adjusted, it is better to take sharp needles, otherwise there is a risk of damaging the delicate fabric. The quality of the selected thread is of particular importance. A thread that is strong enough, but small in thickness, will provide an even and beautiful seam. Let's consider in more detail the algorithm of actions.

Step-by-step instruction

Despite the seeming simplicity, it is important to perform these actions as competently as possible, then the curtain will hang evenly, and the edges will not creep in fringe in different directions.
