Being engaged in the preparation of soap, you can endow it with such properties that are useful and necessary for you. No manufacturer of cosmetics knows exactly what ingredients your skin needs. Thanks to a wide variety of vegetable and essential oils, herbs, clay, natural additives, soap acquires the desired properties. It will, depending on the components used, clean, whiten, moisturize, nourish or soften the skin.

There are three ways to make soap at home:

  1. Purchased soap is taken as the basis (preferably baby soap without flavorings and fillers).
  2. Ready-made soap base- white or transparent. The white (opaque) base is characterized by the presence of titanium dioxide in it - a white dye.
  3. The third, most difficult method involves making soap from scratch. In this case, alkali is used, therefore, one must be extremely careful and take all safety measures.

In this article, we will look at making homemade soap using ready-made soap base. This is one of the easiest ways. It will not require absolutely no effort, but on the contrary, it will bring a lot of pleasure from the creative process. Get goods for soap making: ready-made soap base, soap molds, oils and dyes will not be difficult. All this is sold in specialized stores of the city or ordered through online stores.

What you need

First of all, you need to prepare everything necessary materials and the components that you will use during work:

  1. Soap base.
  2. base oils. Solid and liquid oils are used. Solid ones can be purchased at the same stores that sell soap base. Liquid oils in large assortment offered at any pharmacy. The most commonly added oils are olive, apricot, walnut, almonds, cocoa, etc.
  3. Essential oils. When choosing them, the cosmetic and emotional impact on the human body is taken into account.
  4. Herbs, dried flowers and a variety of natural supplements.
  5. Dyes. Food colorings are often used, but for greater naturalness, natural ones can be used, such as beet and carrot juice, saffron, henna, cocoa.
  6. Soap mold(silicone baking molds, plastic boxes, ready-made molds from the same stores). Do not use molds made of metal, especially aluminum, because large quantity soap bases react with metal surfaces and cause corrosion.

The process of making handmade soap

First, melt the soap base in a water bath or microwave. It is not recommended to melt it entirely in one piece, it is best to cut it into small cubes. Cover the dish with a lid to prevent moisture from evaporating during the heating process. The melting point should not exceed 60 degrees and in no case be brought to a boil, as the structure may be broken. The consistency of the melted soap base, as a rule, resembles liquid jelly without lumps.

After the base has melted, you need to immediately add the base oil. It is used in the preparation to endow soap with beneficial properties, such as softening or moisturizing the skin, healing wounds. Ordinary olive oil, which is in the kitchen of every housewife, is also suitable. You need to use one teaspoon of base oil per 100 grams of soap base.

Liquid and natural dyes are added drop by drop to the soap base until the desired color is achieved. BUT when using powder dyes, there are two ways:

  1. In a small amount of water, the powder of the selected color is diluted and thoroughly mixed until completely dissolved. Then use similarly to liquid dye.
  2. A little soap base is cast from the total mass and a powder dye is diluted in it. Stir until all particles are dissolved and return back to the dissolved base. Mix well until completely homogeneous.

For beginners, it is best to use the first method., since in the second case there is a high probability that the dye will not completely dissolve and stains will appear in the finished soap due to undissolved particles.

Essential and aromatic oils are introduced into the base only before pouring into the mold, when the temperature drops to 45-50 degrees. Due to the fact that essential oils have a high concentration, they must be added very carefully in a few drops. Aromatic oils are not as concentrated, so they are used in larger quantities. The aromatic component of soap can also be obtained with a few drops of perfume.

Often, when making homemade soap, a variety of natural additives are used, which are used as decorations or carry a cosmetic load, such as washcloths or scrubs. The molten soap base is mixed with coffee, sea salt, clay or poured on top of the loofah (sponge similar to a washcloth made from gourd fibers), dry flowers.

Sometimes it happens that during the creative activity, the soap began to harden a little earlier than it was added. necessary ingredients or poured into a prepared mold. In this case, it is recommended to melt the soap a little and quickly complete the unfinished.

Pour the soap mixture into the molds carefully to avoid the appearance of air bubbles. But if foam appears, then it is easy to remove it with a spray bottle filled with alcohol or vodka. You just need to sprinkle the surface with alcohol.

In cases where, after the completion of the soap preparation process, an unused soap mixture remains, then it should simply be poured into a suitable vessel. Later, it can be melted down again and used for new ideas. If the remnants are color painting, they are often used as multicolor inserts. Never throw away unused material, because perhaps it is thanks to it that next time you will create a real masterpiece.

After all work on soap making completed, leave the mold with hardening soap until completely solidified. The setting time varies from 30 minutes to 4 hours, depending on the size of the intended soap. An important rule is that soap should only harden when room temperature and it should never be put in the refrigerator during hardening. In order to facilitate the removal of soap from the mold, it is best to lubricate the mold with a few drops of fatty oil before pouring the molten base. It is believed that the longer the soap is in the form, the easier it is to remove it later. If you forgot about the oil and the cherished piece does not want to climb out, then place the mold with soap for 5-10 minutes in freezer, then pull out and carefully fold the edges outward, and then turn the form over and gently press on the bottom.

How to store homemade soap

If you have prepared more soap than you can use in a short period of time and you are not going to use all the bars at the same time, then the question arises of proper storage. It is best to pack soap pieces in a plastic bag or cling film and place them in a dark, cool place. The shelf life of a soap containing natural additives is rather short, but in the case when natural additives were not used, the shelf life increases to one year.

Be careful, it turns out the process soap making very contagious and highly addictive, once you try to make your own soap, you can buy hobby for life. Moreover, a simple hobby can turn into a real passion. But is it bad. It's fine! After all, during such a creative process, you will not only relax and get a lot of positive emotions, but also create pieces of magical, useful and beautiful soap with your own hands, which you can use yourself and give to friends and relatives.

Simply beautiful - handmade soap for inspiration ( click on photo to enlarge):

Home soap making for me has become an exciting activity, a favorite hobby, the first step on the way to making cosmetics with my own hands. By creating your own soap at home, it turns out that you can choose components that are useful specifically for your skin, give free rein to your imagination, decide for yourself what its color, shape, smell will be.

How easy is it to make soap at home and why is it useful?

The pros of making handmade soap outweigh the cons for me.

The main advantage, I think, of course, natural handmade soap. In its manufacture, almost everything that you consider useful for your skin (milk, honey, coffee, oatmeal, vegetable oils, essential oils, vitamins, and more) can be used. Thus, you personally make “your” soap for yourself, select properties, smell. It does not contain industrial preservatives (all known parabens), dyes.

Using handmade soap, in addition to the benefits, I get aesthetic pleasure from appearance, enjoy the feeling of its uniqueness.

Of the rather serious disadvantages, I can name, oddly enough, the same naturalness. Almost any of the natural ingredients can cause allergies, skin irritation. Therefore, if you buy or receive such a soap as a gift, do not rush to use it. Check on a small area of skin near the elbow, and only then wash with pleasure.

Not too good foaminess can also be attributed to the category of minuses. The fact is that the oils added to the composition, in addition to their useful properties, quench foaming. The more oils you add, the less foam you get. Therefore, the measure is important in everything. You can add special foaming agents, they are in specialized stores.

Due to the lack of strong preservatives, this soap is not recommended to be stored for more than 6 months. Welded and - immediately into action.

Like any other hobby, soap making takes time. It is desirable that during the process children, husband, pets do not hang under their feet. So I mostly do what I love at night.

Of course, you will need a certain amount of money for the initial purchase of components, molds. Oils and other components, except for the base, are not consumed very intensively, and they last for a long time, but initially they need to be purchased. My advice: do not immediately chase a large assortment , choose 2-3 most versatile components. Then, when you get a taste and delve deeper into the issue, you decide what else you need to purchase.

There are two main ways home production soap

1. From the base. Currently, many online stores sell this very foundation. The cost of a kilogram is 200-300 rubles. It is from it that you can make soap of any shape and color. Plus, it's easy to use and safe. Some amateurs use grated baby soap as a base. This method I did not like already in the process of rubbing (not too easy). Cooking is also not as simple as in the first case. In general, I refused children's soap. In the article, I am talking about soap from the base.

2. Soap from scratch. My dream is yet to come true. Vegetable oils mixed with alkali, a chemical saponification reaction occurs, as a result of which soap is obtained. Unsafe, the reaction occurs with the release of heat, and alkali is dangerous with a chemical burn when careless handling. Such soap matures after the reaction of 1-6 months. It is clear that you cannot pour it into figured silicone molds, it stands in a large piece, and then cut into sticks. I do not recommend undertaking manufacturing without a thorough study of the theory.

What you can make soap at home: a list of everything you need for soap making

All components can be purchased in special online stores, something to take in grocery and pharmacies.

1. Soap base. Sold in large pieces in different packaging of 0.5 kg, 1 kg, 5 kg. It happens transparent and white, organic, creamy.

2. Base oils. There are liquid and solid. These are vegetable, obtained by pressing certain parts of plants. They have the ability to penetrate deep into the skin and restore it, acting from the inside. Some can be purchased at the pharmacy. Chosen according to the needs of the skin. The most common: olive, almond, wheat germ, peach, apricot, grape seed, cocoa and others. They nourish, moisturize, cleanse the skin, create a protective barrier.

3. Dyes. Safe food dyes, pigments are used, as well as natural substances that can change color, such as clay, turmeric, marigold petals, etc.

4. Flavors. You can buy industrial, for example, bubble gum, berry flavors, perfume compositions.

Can be scented with essential oils, which not only give a pleasant aroma, but, more importantly, perform the function active additive. These are volatile aromatic substances of high concentration. They are able to penetrate through the skin into the bloodstream and have a healing effect on the entire body. For me, their cosmetic properties are especially valuable. Use with caution, certain plants are prohibited for pregnant women and children. And cloves and cinnamon can cause a burn.

5. Other additives. You can try to introduce into the soap almost any utility that comes into your head to apply. True, there is no guarantee that the effect will be the one that was intended, but you can and should try. Additives can be:

clay, oatmeal, coffee and coffee grounds, hydrosols, dry medicinal herbs, honey, milk, glycerin, vitamins, chocolate, menthol and so on and so forth.

6. Forms. At the start of my career as a soapmaker, I used silicone molds for baking in the form of different flowers. Now the choice is much richer, for every taste and budget. You can also use some bowls-cups, but only plastic ones, you simply can’t pull soap out of the rest of the dishes.

7. Dishes. Suitable volume is used kitchenware and other utensils. In a word, everything that seems convenient.

8. Measuring utensils. Scales with an accuracy of 0.1 g will not interfere very much. If there are no scales yet, it is quite possible to get by with different measuring cups, syringes, spoons. It is convenient to use wooden chopsticks for stirring.

How to make soap at home?

First, of course, we decide on the recipe. At first, you can search on the Internet.

We prepare the necessary components and the molds you like. It is better to measure the number of components per 100 g of the base, it is easier to count. We cut the soap base into cubes with a side of 2-3 cm. If you don’t know how much base you need to fill the mold, just fill it with chopped pieces a little with a slide, then the mixture will be enough to fill and there will be no excess left.

We put in a water bath until melted. Stir all the time wooden stick so that there is no boiling, overheating. After the melting has been carried out, remove the base from the fire and add in turn while stirring:

  • base oils;
  • active ingredients (hydrolates, herbal decoctions, extracts, honey, milk, etc.), liquids must be heated;
  • add the dye drop by drop and mix each time to get exactly the desired color and not overdo it;
  • essential oils in a slightly cooled mixture or flavors.

Mix thoroughly again, but do not whisk so that air bubbles do not form. Pour the resulting mixture into molds. Lightly spray alcohol from a spray bottle over the surface to remove bubbles. Let it dry for 20-30 minutes. After hardening, remove the soap from the mold. It is recommended to leave it for "ripening" for another 2-3 days. And then - enjoy your health.

Of course, later, with experience, the process will become more complicated. The soap will be multi-colored, multi-component, with the addition of a great many useful things. But at first it’s better not to complicate, but to “get your hand” on more simple recipes with few components.

Favorite handmade soap recipes

I almost never make one-to-one soap like the previous one, at least the oils change. But there are simple recipes that I especially like, which I repeat almost unchanged.

Soap was conceived to get rid of pustular rashes on the back. It perfectly cleanses, promotes healing, at the same time, without overdrying the skin. You will need:

  • transparent soap base - 100 g;
  • wheat germ oil - 5-7 ml;
  • dry petals of calendula (sold in a pharmacy) - a pinch;
  • calendula extract CO2 - 5 drops;
  • blue chamomile essential oil - 5-7 drops.

Pour calendula petals into the germ oil and leave for 10-15 minutes. Mix the oil with petals and calendula extract into the soap base melted in a water bath. Wheat germ oil gives the soap an orange tint. If desired, the color can be enhanced by adding a dye. Stir the chamomile oil into the slightly cooled mixture and pour into molds.

With loofah and honey

This soap is perfect for morning care, it gently exfoliates, massages the skin (it is necessary not to lather a washcloth with it, but to work directly on the body), moisturizes, has an anti-cellulite effect and awakens. We take:

  • white base for soap - 100 g;
  • shea butter - 5 g;
  • honey - 5 g;
  • linden hydrolat - 10 ml;
  • grapefruit essential oil - 10-15 drops;
  • Loofah fibers - 1 tsp

We heat the soap base with shea butter and honey in a water bath. Separately, heat (not to a boil!) linden hydrolat. Pour the hydrosol into the soap mixture. We mix in the loofah, evenly distributing it throughout the volume. At the end, add grapefruit oil and pour into molds.

The two basic ingredients for soap making are baby soap and soap base. Baby soap is usually used by beginners in soap making, as it is the most simple and affordable way to try your hand. Soap base - much best material, because it provides even more scope for creativity and as soon as you master the "children's" soap making, you will certainly want to try making soap from a soap base.

There are two types of soap base: transparent (glycerine) and white matte (from coconut or palm oil, with the addition of titanium dioxide). The soap base is well suited for creating bright beautiful soap - it is easy and pleasant to experiment with it.

Making soap from a soap base is much easier than from a "children's" one.

Here are just some of the benefits of making soap from a soap base:

  • The soap base does not need to be crushed or grated, just cut into pieces is enough.
  • It melts easily, both in a water bath and in the microwave.
  • It does not need to add water or other liquid.
  • It is also not necessary to dry the soap after casting, as soon as the soap hardens, it can be used.
  • The difference between soap from a soap base is that it is not necessary to add base oils to it. They can be added, but the amount should be no more than 1/3 tsp. per 100 gr. base, otherwise the soap will be too soft and will not harden. You can find a soap base, which already includes all the necessary moisturizing oils.

How to make soap from soap base:

  1. Put the pieces of the base in a melting container and melt the base in the microwave or in a water bath. Heat the base only until it melts. It is very important not to overheat it to more than 60-65 degrees. And under no circumstances bring the base to a boil.
  2. Now you can add dyes and fillers to the melted base. Remove from water bath.
  3. Add essential oils.
  4. Pour soap base into molds. In order to make it easier to get the finished soap out of the molds, you can definitely grease them with any vegetable oil.
  5. To make handmade soap last longer, wrap it in cling film or put it in a cardboard box. Before that, you need to let him "lie down" for several days.

it turns out softer than ordinary purchased soap and much more original and beautiful! You can make a two-color soap, from a transparent and matte base, you can add small flowers to the transparent base, you can pour coffee beans or herbs on the bottom of the mold! In general, experiment on health!

The demand for handmade foaming products is getting higher every day. Soap gained popularity not only because it looks beautiful and unusual: this factor was also affected by the fact that such products do not contain chemicals that can harm the skin.

  3. After solidification, it is cut and labeled. The numbers 40-70% say how many fatty acids are contained in one bar.

There is also an indirect method, which consists in treating the obtained adhesive soap with electrolytes. This is done with a solution of caustic alkali and sodium chloride.
