Foreword

Without different construction equipment you can’t do it in the country - you always need to repair something, take care of the garden, build. That's why carpentry tool for a home workshop must be kept in accordance with all the rules. We will also tell you what kinds of tools you should have at your disposal.

Required Tools

screwdriver Grinders Chisel Screwdriver Electric drill nail puller Workbench show all

First of all, we need to consider the tools that should be in the workshop, since in the country and suburban area working with wood and other building materials is considered the most popular. Of course, it is not necessary to buy them all at once, as this can cost you a lot of money, however, as financial opportunities arise, try to purchase several copies. All of them are conditionally divided into:

  • Mechanized tools;
  • Hand tools.

Manual devices are much cheaper than mechanized ones, most often they are used to carry out small jobs associated with repair or processing. If their power and efficiency are not enough, and the front of work is large, you cannot do without mechanized tools. Of course, everyone should select devices individually, depending on needs, preferences and material wealth. However, it should contain a set of tools for "basic work". These include a hacksaw, screwdrivers, pliers, pliers, tape measure, building level, planer, crowbar (nail puller) and chisel.

Be sure to look at devices such as an electric drill and a jigsaw, which can greatly facilitate your work and make your work faster, while the cost of the devices is quite low. The main thing is to purchase models famous brands because they are reliable and practical.

As you already understood, the list of devices is quite large, and many do not even know the names of some of them. However, there is a certain list of tools that you may need at any time: for drilling holes, hammering nails, grinding.

To the most popular manual mechanisms include:

  • An ax is a tool used for cutting, tesk and other types of wood processing;
  • Hacksaw, without which it will not do;
  • Joiner's saw, thanks to which logs are cut;
  • Hammer used in hammering nails;
  • Planer used for planing wooden surfaces;
  • Chisel - a tool for processing wooden blanks;
  • Not a single work with wood can do without a nail puller, because it is with them that we will remove nails;
  • A tape measure is used to measure the distance, and you will need it when doing any construction work;
  • Screwdrivers, without which you can neither screw in nor unscrew the screw;
  • Pliers;
  • Workbench - equipment for a carpentry home workshop, designed to secure workpieces during their processing with other tools.

You can not do without mechanized tools that increase the speed of work and its quality. Their list is also huge, but many are used only for specialized work. But there are those whose operation may be needed at any time. These include:

  • Circular saws needed for cutting building materials;
  • An electric planer is a device used for planing wood. With this tool, you can easily achieve flat surface blanks;
  • The electric drill is designed for drilling holes in various materials;
  • Grinders - carpentry equipment that is required when grinding surfaces before painting;
  • Electric jigsaws are used when cutting a variety of building materials. The main advantage of such a device is the ability to make curly cuts;
  • Screwdriver, which is used for loosening and tightening screws. With the purchase of additional nozzles, you can drill holes;
  • Processing machine with which you can cut boards, sheet materials. Its main advantage is its versatility, one such tool can easily replace several, and it will take up much less space in the workshop.

Undoubtedly, some of the tools listed above are not only for carpentry, because they can work quietly and just as powerfully with metal, concrete, brickwork. In addition to the purchase, the correct storage of materials is also important, which we will also talk about now. This will keep your units safe and sound, which will extend their service life.

Storage - not less than important factor when purchasing devices, and therefore you need to think in advance how the workshop will look like, where the drawers and shelves will be located so that you can immediately find the item you need.

Experts share several rules for arranging a workshop and storing inventory in it, which you definitely need to familiarize yourself with:

  1. Sort inventory into groups, the main of which include: measuring instruments, plumbing, plumbing and mounting tools. All of them should be formed according to semantic groups;
  2. Cleanliness and order is the rule of thumb, as dust and grease can cause your devices to “lose health”. Be sure to set aside a small space in the workshop for storing solvents, rags, detergents, technical napkins. And clean them immediately after using them;
  3. The use of special storage furniture is another important factor. It includes racks, cabinets and drawers, which also help to visually expand the space;
  4. Use free areas on the walls for attaching tools, which will get rid of the clutter of boxes and racks;
  5. “Fragile items” should be stored in drawers to protect them from breakage, and sharp tools should be placed in a way to avoid possible injury. They also cannot be stacked on top of each other, since this way the chances of getting injured when searching the right tool rise;

  6. If you use the rules described above, you can easily create a comfortable environment for work, keeping your carpentry tools for the workshop in complete safety.

Today for home renovation and work on a suburban area, a variety of power tools are used. Special auxiliary devices and devices are produced for them, many of them can be made by hand. Complex technical devices it is better to buy ready-made ones, and workbenches, tables for a router, nozzles and much more can be made independently. Homemade fixtures for power tools can be adjusted to the required conditions.

Classification of accessories for power tools

They are usually classified into the following groups:

  1. Tools and nozzles for processing. This is handheld devices, which include grinding nozzles and bars for grinders and drills.
  2. Devices that are designed to change position, set a specific cutting angle, drilling, and more. These are reference surfaces, templates, guides, and more. They can take on a variety of appearances and are often made of metal or wood.
  3. Devices for dust extraction. Such devices are used in order to divert from working surface sawdust, dust, shavings. It is not so difficult to make such devices with your own hands, usually existing ventilation holes on the equipment are used for fastening.
  4. Grinding nozzles, blocks or bars intended for surface treatment are assembled with their own hands. For example, for polishing wooden surface or cleaning metal, you can use a wooden plate with a handle on top. Attached to its working side sandpaper required grit. The shape of the platform can be any, it is only important to choose the right grinding material.

Milling tables

Devices for power tools are different, but sometimes they have dimensions, as in the case of milling machines and saws. It is recommended to collect solid table, which will have everything you need for convenient and safe work. by the most simple option is a milling table made in the form of a large board with a hole for a router and a guide board. Dimensions worktop can be different, it all depends on what kind of work will be performed. A more perfect option is a table with legs of the required height. The working and guide boards are made from chipboard. On the surface, a vice, clamps, etc. can be provided. The legs for the table are best made removable, provide a spare set.

Workbenches for power tools

To work with many tools, the organization of the workspace is required. For a home workshop or garage, a small, compact and multifunctional workbench can become indispensable. Making it yourself is not so difficult, you just need to clearly define what functions it is needed for. It is best to make a workbench that can be used at any height, including on a table.

Figure 1. The main elements of the workbench.

Then the power tool can be conveniently located, change its position if necessary. For work, it is recommended to use any solid wood, a popular material is maple, which is easily processed, while possessing the necessary hardness and strength.

For fixing on the table, comfortable legs or clamps can be attached to the device.

A workbench requires a vise, they are often used in work. An example of the main elements of the workbench is shown in Fig. 1.

Drill bits

A drill may require a variety of attachments during operation. They allow you to make work easier, make it easier, more convenient and faster. For drill used a large number of homemade, which many manufacturers today have taken as the basis for the development of special kits. The list of devices that you can do with your own hands is long.

Power tool attachments:

  1. Nozzles-limiters. During repairs and construction works it is required to prepare holes of the required diameter to a strictly specified depth. It is for this purpose that a rather simple nozzle is used, which consists of 3 parts. You can do it yourself, while the parameters of the holes can be easily and quickly changed if necessary. The first part of the device is a clamp for holding, it is placed directly on the body of the tool. Such a collar has 2 holes, stops-guides in the form of metal rods of 6 mm are inserted into them. The rods are bent if necessary. During operation, the required angle of inclination of the drill is set in order to prepare holes with the specified parameters.
  2. Circle cutters are a special device that looks like a large compass. Nozzles are assembled from metal rods. The vertical part acts as a stop; a special thickening is made at its end. A horizontal one is attached to the vertical part, on one side of which a comfortable handle is made, and on the other, a ring is welded. For the device, it is necessary to provide for the diameter of the mounting ring so that the drill does not slip out, tightly held in it during operation. Inside, it is best to glue a rubber ring, which will help make the fixation more secure.

Various do-it-yourself devices for power tools are necessary in order to make work more comfortable and easier.

It is not always possible to buy such devices, and often they are needed only for a couple of times. Therefore, it is much easier to make them yourself, spending not so much time.

With the help of these devices, you can easily realize what you have in mind. Once again, we present homemade devices that our readers have created. We hope that you will choose the useful device you need and it will help you.

How to sand edges with an eccentric sander
Passion for carpentry led me to the profession of a furniture restorer. In this delicate work, I often need to sand the edges of small parts. So I turned an ordinary eccentric sander into desktop machine with a few scraps of MDF board. The longest part was to precisely fit the contours of the cutout to the neck of the grinder body, I did the rest quickly. The machine is inserted into the clamp, fixed with a bolt and you can start grinding.

It only takes a couple of minutes to set the machine in the clamp or release it. But I rarely take it out of the fixture.

Convenient stand for turning tools
When turning, you often have to change tools, but it’s not so easy to immediately find the right one among the mess and mountains of chips. In my workshop, I can not allocate a place for a permanent large stand with cutters, and I came up with such a solution.

(Press to enlarge)

Made a box-holder for turning tools. A simple L-shaped hook is put on the roller of the telescopic folding support. When needed, I place it next to the machine and adjust the height for comfortable work. When the work is finished, the box with the cutters is hung on the wall, held by a hook.

Another way to use a Japanese hacksaw
I have tried every possible method of trimming excess thin veneer edging, from factory fixtures to razor blades, from planers to sanding pads. But with none of them I was able to ensure that chips or cracks did not appear on the veneer.

Finally, I decided to use a Japanese hacksaw with a board lining pressed against the edge of the shelf. The free edge of the veneer was easily removed without chips, cracks or delamination, and I quickly smoothed out the barely noticeable irregularities with a sanding block.

Lip pads pipe clamps held by magnets
I have clamps in my arsenal different types, but for gluing big projects I prefer to use pipe. These clamps have a significant drawback: they are difficult to keep in place on the lining, setting the position of the jaws. This is inconvenient when the parts are lying horizontally, and gluing vertical parts turns into real torture. I finally managed to deal with the problem by making magnetic pads on the jaws of the clamps.

To make them, I cut 50x50mm squares out of 6mm plywood and drilled 12x3mm recesses in the center of each of them. It remains to glue the rare earth magnets with epoxy glue. The pads hold securely to the jaws of the clamps and can be stored on any steel surface available in the workshop.

Circular fixture for milling table
Having drunk band saw round billet for the seat, you need to clean the edges and keep the shape of the correct circle. To do this, it is worth making a simple adaptation to the milling table.

First, select a groove in the router table cover perpendicular to the front edge and in line with the cutter. Then, according to the dimensions of this groove, make a slider rail from cutting hardwood. Insert it into the groove and mark the radius of the workpiece on it, measuring from the blades of the installed cutter, and drill a hole for the axial pin in this place (its role is played by a nail with a bitten off hat).

Then, on the back side of the workpiece, make an axial hole in the center. Slide the workpiece onto the axle pin and slide it against the cutter. With the router turned on, feed the workpiece forward and rotate 360° to get rid of saw marks on the edges.

D For the rational use of space, communications and do-it-yourself garage accessories from improvised materials are used. It is necessary to use the walls, the underground level in the process, place it indoors, organize normal lighting.

Homemade garage fixtures

For comfortable operation of the premises intended for storing cars, you should follow certain recommendations:

Storage areas, racks, workbenches

In 80% of cases, do-it-yourself garage fixtures are built to store accessories, tools, and car equipment. It should be noted that the most bulky parts of the car are sets of winter / summer tires, depending on the season.

It is more convenient to store wheels on brackets of the following design:

  • two triangular frames from a corner, connected by jumpers from any rolled metal;
  • triangles are attached to the wall, the wheels are installed perpendicularly load-bearing structure, slightly falling between the jumpers.

The main nuances of these structures are:

The width of the pit should allow the driver to drive into it without lighting.

Lighting and ventilation

Most often used in garages parallel circuits lighting fixtures. One lamp allows you to use a specific area, several devices are turned on during a major repair, a visit to the cellar. Minimum flow electricity is provided. Daylight devices have a large resource.

Cars use poisonous, harmful fuels and lubricants, so do-it-yourself garage ventilation devices are becoming relevant, allowing you to create air exchange. The inflow is organized from below:

  • garage - vents in masonry, protected by bars;
  • cellar - a pipe from the garage or from the street.

The hood is mounted under the ceiling of the cellar, the roof of the garage or has the form of air vents in the main walls at the highest points.

Other Helpful Ideas

Useful do-it-yourself garage accessories can be made from used utensils, inventory, materials left after construction. For example, by gluing the lids of plastic jars horizontally / vertically, the owner gets a convenient transparent dish for equipment or hardware, which is always at hand.

Homemade machines

From the power tool, you can also assemble fixtures for the garage:

  • drilling - a drill fixed with clamps in a fixture that moves with a gear along a rail;

  • cutting - clamped in a similar way with an angle grinder with a tool for metal or wood;

The advantage of the machines is more precise positioning of the tooling relative to the workpiece. The equipment turns out to be collapsible, the drill and angle grinder can be removed mono, used for its intended purpose.

Hydropress

The simplest design is obtained from a car hydraulic jack. For pressing out / pressing in bearings, pressing / compressing parts, you will need to build a frame and a removable movable stop. The frame consists of 4 channels welded to each other. At the top, the structure is reinforced with stiffening ribs (kerchiefs), at the bottom, transverse corners are added to give the frame stability.

The stop is pulled up in the normal position to the upper crossbar of the frame by powerful springs. A hydraulic jack is installed between them, as necessary pressing the stop to the lower crossbar of the frame. The press force is regulated by a jack, dimensions working area are selected depending on the size of the workpieces.

Owners of private houses and lovers of crafts dream of creating a carpentry home workshop. They buy interesting power tools and try to make their own carpentry tools. For these purposes, they use an electric drill, circular saw, jigsaw.

Experts advise beginners not to buy cheap tools. You need to focus on the average price options. In addition to tools, it is necessary to provide shelves and cabinets for storing materials and various small things.

Carpentry equipment

"Advanced" craftsmen have good vise workbenches, rare machines and tools that are very necessary for making furniture:

The ubiquitous grinder

Every man has a power tool called a grinder. Actually this Grinder used for abrasive cutting of metal, stone, ceramic tiles and other materials. To do this, install a special abrasive disc with a thickness of 0.7 to 2.5 mm. The diameter of the cutting disc is from 115 to 180 millimeters, it all depends on the hardness of the material being processed.

The peculiarity of this machine is the high speed of the electric motor, for example, the Whirlwind UShM-125 has 11 thousand revolutions per minute. It is this indicator and low weight, only 2.5 kilograms, that excites the minds of home craftsmen to adapt it to perform unusual types of metal-cutting work.

Homemade grinders are available in every garage and home workshop, moreover, each master makes a device for his own needs.

Cutting machine

A homemade option for the workshop is offered - cutting machine Suitable for cutting angle, pipe, square profile, rebar. The design of the device is simple:

  • Desktop;
  • brackets with a return spring;
  • platform for mounting grinders;
  • emphasis.

For this, a special protection is made, similar to the standard casing that comes with the tool. It has a slide, two handles and a rotary device. The slide looks like a plate measuring 200 x 120 millimeters, with a slot for the saw blade to exit.

The plate is attached on one side to the casing on a hinge, the other to a steel strip with a slot 9 mm wide for sliding along the M8x1.5 stud, which is on the casing for fixing with a wing nut.

Two handles are welded to the casing to hold the sawing machine during operation. Cutting and sawing lumber of small thickness is very convenient, and the high speed of the machine carpentry machine allow you to easily cut material up to 30 millimeters thick.

Vertical drilling model

The bed can be made from pieces of a corner 50x50 millimeters and a steel sheet 5 millimeters thick. To do this, weld two corners along the edges of the sheet for the entire length, they will serve as legs. Table size 350 x 200 mm. Weld the bracket on top square pipe 80 mm high for rack mounting.

The stand or guide for the drill is made of a square pipe three millimeters thick. A piece is welded into the upper hole water pipe eight millimeters long. A cable tension mechanism is inserted into it. Stand height 700 mm. The rack is inserted into the bracket and crimped with four bolts - two each on two sides of the square pipe.

The carriage is a movable unit on which the drill is attached. It is made of 50x50 corners, welded together, height 170 millimeters, the eyes are made of a strip three millimeters thick. An axle is inserted into the eyes, on which the cable is wound.

A continuation of the axis is a handle that drives the carriage.

The carriage drive consists of an axis on which a cable and a handle are wound. One end of the cable is attached to the bottom bracket. The upper end of the cable is fixed in the pipe at the upper end of the rack. Attached to the carriage special bracket with seat under the electric drill. The drill itself is tightened with a special clamp made of a strip 2 mm thick and 40 mm wide.

Homemade turning fixture

There are a lot of home-made designs of lathes for wood. They are united by the presence of four main nodes:

  • drive unit;
  • bed;
  • tailstock;
  • assistant.

The difference is only in the choice of drive. Whoever has something from electromechanical devices is installed on the product:

  • electric drill;
  • Bulgarian;
  • milling cutter;
  • washing machine motor.

It is possible to improve an already made metal-cutting structure by adding to it additional features. For example, can be placed horizontally on a workbench or table drilling machine. The drive is electric drill. The tailstock will be a working table in which a hole is drilled along the axis of the drill in the chuck and a thread is cut to screw the fixed center.

Additionally, install the handbrake, fixing it on the movable bracket of the rack. The workpiece is fastened with one end in a trident clamped in a drill chuck, the other end in a fixed center. For a small number of simple parts - a completely good home-made woodworking machine with a fixture and equipment for the manufacture of figured parts obtained by turning.

The list of tools and mechanisms for a workshop or garage is limited only by the area of \u200b\u200bthe premises and the material capabilities of the owner. Despite the fact that many products are made from scrap, the cost of purchased parts and tools needed for assembly is very significant.

Sometimes it is cheaper to get a service in a specialized workshop than to do this work yourself.
