Books about strong personalities reveal the theory of basic psychological functions that help a person perceive the world: about reason, feelings, intuitive data and internal perception. The very concept of “a strong personality of our time” helps to characterize a strong-willed and open individual with extraordinary thinking, creative abilities, care and ambition.

Definition

Who can be called a strong personality?

A characteristic feature of a strong-willed person is self-confidence. A strong and experienced person acts by a single rational decision in the situation that has arisen. Awareness of their capabilities and the desire to expand them are characteristic features that a strong personality of our time possesses.

Strong personality, what is she? The main character traits include a different perception of difficulties and doubts - it attracts everything that prompts fear and weakness in other people. She goes against stereotypes and rules.

She is characterized by setting goals and actions aimed at achieving them, despite obstacles. A strong personality seeks to conquer peaks not previously accessible to others. She stands above material wealth and love whims.

  - sociability. A strong and courageous person does not try to persuade someone to his point of view, to impose it. He correctly perceives the natural features of people. A strong person changes himself to achieve a given goal. He is responsible for his fate.

In work, a strong and enterprising person motivates himself not with the amount of payment, but with interest, the desire to show his abilities, to learn new things.

A strong person is an individual who reveals real feelings experienced in a specific situation (weak people tend to hide them). A strong personality clearly expresses her emotions, if she is sad, she will directly report it.

A strong personality does not claim authority for itself - an unshakable nature is true to itself. All her actions are special in the manifestation of their uniqueness. A strong and creative person often succumbs to incredible ideas that are immediately implemented.

A strong personality is a person who does not need to adapt to, he is open and sincere, conquers with a good sense of humor and love of life. A strong and optimistic person will easily make a joke about himself, and this testifies to mental poise and stability.

Studying the question of what is a strong personality, well-known psychologists have developed tests of psychological testing MBTI. Its peculiarity is manifested in the measurement of human factors that a strong and courageous person possesses. Using these tests, it is easy to determine his propensity for the type of activity, the style of his actions and decision-making, providing a sense of comfort and confidence.

A strong person is determined by 4 scales:

  • consciousness (introversion and extraversion);
  • possession of situations (sane reasoning and intuitive factors);
  • decision making based on (logical and pathos);
  • preparation of decisions (wise and irrational).

A strong personality is a person in whom a pessimist, a realist live, and that allows him to be ready in advance for any outcomes throughout the day. Such people are confident in everything that gives them peace and stability.

Examples of prominent personalities

  • Stephen Hawking (theoretical physicist);
  • Nick Vuychich (motivational speaker born with tetraamelia syndrome - a rare hereditary disease leading to the absence of all four limbs);
  • Ester Verger (wheelchair tennis player);
  • Andrea Bocelli (singer, performer of classical and popular music);

In fact, there are many examples of prominent people, we will tell you in more detail only about some of the representatives in the video below:

Strong personalities in history in Russia:

  • Speaking about strong personalities in the history of Russia, one can mention Alexander Nevsky (1220 - 1263) - the son of Prince Y. Vsevolodovich. Being a talented commander, calculating politician, after the invasion of the Mongols, he refused to invite the Pope to a general confrontation with the Mongols. The strong personality of the voivode manifested itself in courage and wisdom, realizing the weak state of Russia. Many powerful and powerful individuals can envy the political actions he developed that have influenced the reduction of the devastating raids of the Tatars. He strengthened the laws and order in the country.
  • Speaking of strong and extraordinary personalities, False Dmitry I (circa 1580 - 1606) comes to mind - an impostor who introduced himself as the son of Ivan the Terrible - Tsarevich Dmitry. The true name is Yu. B. Otrepiev (clan - small-sized Galician nobles). He became famous as a strong personality when serving in the slaves of the Romanov boyars and weddings to the kingdom. On May 8, in 1606, he married Maria Mniszek, daughter of the governor of Poland.
  • Catherine II and Emelyan Pugachev. The empress was firm in spirit, and her involvement in the Russian environment allowed her to perfectly understand the interests of the state. It is the qualities possessed by strong and intelligent personalities that allowed her to cope with all the “inherited” difficulties. The empress terminated the alliance of Peter III with Frederick II, and the 7-year war ended without the active participation of Russia.

Catherine II behaved as a strong personality in the abolition of preparations for the war with Denmark. Of the two decrees of her predecessors, she approved the right to use noble privileges and canceled the confiscation of church property. According to many strong historical figures, the first decision allowed her to receive support from the nobility, the second - from the clergy. However, this did not stop Catherine from confiscating church jewelry later.

  • Emelyan Ivanovich Pugachev - a simple Cossack and a strong man, not being trained in literacy and politics - raised the people against lawlessness and intolerable living conditions.
      Flipping through the history of the state, we can conclude how a strong personality affects its development.

Books about prominent personalities

Books about strong and outstanding personalities testify to the fact that each of us succumbs to the influence of television and radio alerts, strangers:

  • “How to Stop Worrying and Start Life,” Dale Carnegie. A strong person and a connoisseur of human relations answers all questions regarding life's turmoil and self-knowledge. He explains how strong and sane individuals reveal their inner potential and choose the right path to real life.
  • “Men from Mars, Women from Venus” are the strong and caring personalities of J. Gray (American psychologist and analyst). This book helps to understand the complexity of perception of the opposite sex. Simple and accessible information is presented by a family psychologist - a strong person who helps in strengthening relationships with loved ones.

Theory of the emergence of prominent people

The theory about the “solar power of the people of the 20th century” was put forward by the Russian scientist E. Samokhvalov. According to him, strong and talented personalities appear, relative to spots on the Sun. From his works it is known that people of the first two groups possess great talents:

  • the most volitional and extraordinary individual in 1956–59;
  • hard-willed people: 1936 - 37gg., 1947 - 50 years;
  • secondary: 1935 - 39 years old;
  • weak: 1930 - 35 years.

How to become an independent person

Character is a set of certain qualities that a person possesses - a strong and strong-willed person. It is determined by courage, honesty, devotion and directness. Developing a solid spirit, strong and caring individuals strive for productivity within the framework of their interests or chosen activities. For its development, one should know the basic definitions of unshakable people.

What affects the hardness of character:

  1. Strong and confident personalities know how to control their instincts and motives.
  2. To control and resist temptations encountered in everyday life.
  3. Strong and sane individuals are free from stereotypes.
  4. They learn to show love and respect for other personalities.

The role of unwavering people in public life

You should know why a strong personality is important for others:

  • A strong character helps in achieving goals and hardening resilience to failure.
  • Strong and wise individuals tend to analyze and investigate the causes of failure, instead of complaints.
  • Confident people are able to recognize their shortcomings, frivolity and weakness.
  • A manifestation of a solid nature, in constantly changing life situations, appears in the ability to move forward, crossing the barriers.
  • A strong personality can empathize with weaker people and love them as yourself. You should carefully study your motives - they must be selfless.
  • A strong and honest person is always looking for the truth. Preferred reasoning over ordinary emotions avoids the yielding of prejudices. Strong and kind personalities solve questions in a sensible way. The main guideline are facts and arguments.

A strong personality is wary of irrational motives. Aristotle and Thomas Aquinas developed a basic list of human feelings: love and hatred, impulses and fear, happiness and sadness, anger. Strong and great personalities direct their actions to overcome intellectual obstacles in order to overcome their phobias, sadness or anger.

A strong and positive person will always find the answer to any question, guided by life experience and good habits, freed from emotions. Excessive and sensual attitude to the current situation is a sign of weakness of character, and opposition to temptation, on the contrary, testifies to the characteristics possessed by strong and rational personalities.

Classification of the qualities of significant people

The originality of people's activity is embodied in their volitional qualities. They appear in the form of stable, independent of the case of psycho-formations and testify to the conscious self-regulation of human behavior.

Strong-willed people are manifested in the form of perseverance, clear goals and endurance. Weakness of will is measured by unprincipled, uninitiated, unrestrained, timid and stubborn properties.

Basic (primary) properties of will

According to the classification of V.K. Kalina, volitional qualities, manifested in the form of energy, patience, endurance and courage, are called basal (primary). Functional features act as unidirectional regulators of the action of consciousness, manifested in the form of volitional efforts:

  • energy is manifested in the form of the ability of strong-willed effort to quickly activate your energy;
  • patience is the maintenance of labor intensity at a certain level and with the manifestation of internal discomfort (fatigue, lack of mood, pain effects);
  • endurance is characterized by volitional efforts aimed at quickly slowing down actions, feelings and thoughts that impede the implementation of ideas;
  • courage is the ability to maintain the stability of mental functionality in a dangerous situation. A feature of the characteristic is the increase in activity. In other words, the courage is the opposition to fear and the implementation of justified risk for the sake of the goal.

Systemic volitional qualities

The remaining manifestations of volitional regulation come in the form of combinations of unidirectional manifestations of consciousness. They are associated with different areas (volitional, emotional, intellectual). Volitional properties are divided into secondary and systemic. For example, courage is manifested in the form of courage, endurance, energy, and determination - in the form of endurance and courage.

System indicators are manifested in the form of perseverance, discipline and the ability to make decisions independently. They are characterized by determination, initiative and organization.

Basal (primary) properties are the basis for systemic (secondary) indicators, their core. With weak indicators of basal properties, difficulties arise in the manifestation of more complex characteristics.

Purposefulness, as a quality, is caused by the ability to use common and sustainable goals, due to the firmness of beliefs. Such people accurately see the goal and have a clear plan for achieving it.

Persistent characteristics are reflected in the ability to constantly and for a long time go to the goal without losing energy when overcoming difficulties. Correct assessment of circumstances allows them to find what helps to achieve the goal. Negative qualities are stubbornness and negativity.

Fundamental properties are the use of sustainable principles and norms to regulate human relations.

Willpower is determined by the level of manifestation of independence and initiative.

Independent actions are justified by the ability to carry out their actions without outside help, by the presence of a critical assessment of other people's actions from the height of their own views and prejudices.

Initiative is characterized by the ability of a non-standard approach to business and its implementation.

The systemic manifestation of positive primary and secondary volitional indicators affects the formation of people's willpower. This determines a high motivation in actions. goes along with perseverance and swiftness.

Volitional Disorders

Pronounced disorders of secondary properties are displayed in the form of abulia and apraxia.

Abulia is characterized by the inability to make decisions and actions. The reason is the disturbance in the dynamics of the relations between the cerebral cortex and the subcortex.

The norm of volitional acts includes optimal impulsive actions. With a low intensity of impulses, the manifestation of a volitional act is impossible. Exceeding the level affects the instant discharge (as in a state of affect), that is, there is no justification for the goal and motivation. Action remains unconscious, without choice and will.

Aware of the obligation to fulfill orders, patients with abulia are not able to implement it. They obey a random stimulus that appears in crawl. For example, at the sight of a flower bed, they pluck plants. At the same time, there are no intentions of forming a bouquet, and the person does not understand what to do next with them.

Apraxia - impaired goal setting in the implementation of actions. The disease is caused by damage to the frontal region of the brain and is noticeable during the implementation of voluntary movements, actions and behavioral factors.

The patient may show his tongue in order to moisten his dry lips, but he is not able to carry out such actions at the request of a doctor. Another patient can use a spoon and a glass with food, but without specific circumstances, he cannot realize these actions. He does not close his eyes at the request of the doctor, but he responds to the offer to get ready for bed.
  All volitional acts of sick people are based on a specific situation from which they cannot be released.

And others constantly show indecision and uncertainty. Obviously, the weak is much easier than those called the “strong personality”. Examples of a person who always occupies a dominant position can be cited ad infinitum. But can one say unequivocally who he is and how he differs from others?

Who can be called a strong man?

It is difficult to accurately describe all the qualities of a strong personality, but the main distinguishing features can still be distinguished:

  1. High level of self-confidence and self-confidence.
  2. The ability to control your emotions.
  3. A very important point - a strong person has a high degree of independence: he is independent of the opinions of others, various prejudices and public opinion.
  4. A strong individual always knows what he wants out of life, and is persistent in achieving his goals.
  5. A strong person looks at the world from a position of reason and can intelligently analyze events.

Of course, this is not an exhaustive one on which you can safely attach the label “strong personality”. Examples of a person with such qualities do not necessarily hiccup among famous and prominent people. Indeed, not all people who occupy serious government posts can be called a strong personality.

People with a strong character live among us. They do not necessarily hold prestigious positions and lead others. They simply remain themselves, do what they love and do not succumb to the influence of the crowd.

Strong \u003d Successful?

Naturally, a strong person is much easier to achieve success. If a person has a goal and he constantly strives for it, then they usually say about him that he is a strong personality. Examples of a person who does not seek success, on the contrary, do not inspire respect among society. Such people are considered weak-willed and insecure.

But can it be argued that success and goal are one and the same? Is it really only a person who has achieved success can be attributed to the prestigious category of “strong personality”? People often do not fully understand the expression "strong man." Indeed, by the word "success" we often mean money, power and fame.

In fact, a self-sufficient person herself makes her choice, regardless of the opinions of others. For such people, success is not wealth, influence and glory. For them, success is not to succumb to the influence of others and to do what they personally want. It turns out that the goal and success are different things in the public understanding, but completely identical for a strong personality.

The ability to be an individual, to have an opinion and to adequately assess their strengths and weaknesses - this is what characterizes a strong personality. You can see examples of a person strong in spirit and character not only on the TV screen or in glossy magazines, but also in a tram, on the street or at work. Or maybe it’s you who are really strong and are an example to many people.

A distinctive feature of a strong person is unshakable self-confidence, their actions and deeds. Everything that he does is performed from the position of the only right decision in this situation. At the same time, a person realizes his real capabilities and tries to expand them, setting goals and going towards them, no matter what. A strong man strives for those peaks that no one has conquered before him - he must and is able to prove to himself and others his abilities. Strong called personality, which puts itself above all - money, wealth, family, relatives, etc. Such people perceive difficulties and doubts in a completely different way - for them everything that causes fear and insecurity in other people is most attractive. They go there, breaking stereotypes and breaking all the rules. The good side is sociability. Such a person will not try to change someone, impose his opinion, or convince others — he simply perceives other people as they are. He begins to change himself, achieving the desired goal. personality fully accepts responsibility for her life - she realizes that no one is free to control someone else's fate. Even when working, a strong person does not stimulate himself with salary, but with interest - you need to find out what happens if you do so. People find it difficult to admit what real feelings they feel at a particular moment - weak people begin to hide them, hiding behind pity, some personal motives. A strong person always clearly expresses his emotions - if he is bored, he speaks directly about it. However, he rarely has his manifestations and almost never feels guilty. A strong man does not recognize authority - he is faithful only to himself. He does everything in a special way, showing his individuality - creative people are almost always strong personalities. They are often visited by crazy and brilliant ideas, which they immediately realize. Communicating with such people is always easy - there is no need to adapt to them, they are open and sincere, have a healthy sense of humor and love life very much. They can laugh at themselves, and this is an indicator of mental balance and stability.

Strength, as they say, in Newtons. But how to increase these newtons in yourself. We, in principle, know how to become, but often we have no idea how to do it right and quickly.

The first thing that comes to mind in this regard is muscle building. You can, of course, go for days to swing to gyms, but this will not lead to significant results. It is necessary to deal with a selected program. It usually includes the power load of the main muscle groups and exercises for the development of weak muscles. In any case, according to the program, you will exercise with weight and perform dynamic exercises that require frequent repetition. And do not forget that you need to go to training 3 times a. Preferably, not more often.

But do not think that to become strong only at the expense of exercise machines. Any exercise in sports, whether swimming or jogging, is capable of sturdling and stronger. Although it may take a little longer.

Food is also important in this matter. Nutrition gives strength and energy and allows you to build muscle. It is best to consume food with plenty. However, note that it must be balanced and varied at the same time.

However, it is not necessary to lower seven sweats on exercise machines to become strong. A fairly calm form of physical training is yoga. It does not require frantic repetitions of heavy exercises. Yoga strengthens and elasticizes your entire body. It’s not worth talking about the fact that it is somehow fantastic. Just try it. And then, even without a bodybuilder figure, you, like him, can perform the same strength exercises.

  • how to quickly become strong

There are many programs aimed at increasing the level of strength endurance and increasing strength in particular, for the most part they somehow follow the principle of "the more - the better." This is a bit wrong. Simple training can increase strength, but not to the extent that it can be achieved by training correctly.

You will need

  • - gym membership

Instruction manual

The first rule is the regulation of the training schedule and systematic. In one day, it is not recommended to train more than one main muscle group and one auxiliary. You need a strictly limited number of repetitions, reaching your limit in the last approach of the last repetition.

If you want to always achieve your goals and arouse admiration for your independence and strong character, then you need to know these 9 simple truths!

  1. A strong personality does not seek excuses.  If a person made a mistake, he acknowledges it, and does not come up with stupid excuses, repeatedly complicating his life. People may blame you for your mistakes, but if you are confident in yourself, it will not bother you.
  2. A strong person does not run away from his fears.  No matter how battered this rule may be, you need to be able to look into the eyes of what we fear, be it darkness, public appearances or a declaration of love! Remember that one by one getting rid of your fears, you take a step forward each time.
  3. A strong personality does not allow rumors.  Every day sending one thing or another thing "in the long box" in the end you run the risk of being buried under an avalanche of now urgent matters. This doesn’t end with anything good, so try to get all your tasks out of the way.
  4. A strong person does not complain. Imagine how many times your productivity would increase if you worked with the same zeal with which you complain about life? In the meantime, everything that happens to you depends on you! Therefore, do not waste your energy in vain and accept life as it is. Well, or don’t take it, but take on drastic changes! But, in any case, without sighs and groans.
  5. A strong personality goes beyond the "comfort zone".Of course, it is easiest to go along the beaten track, but only the one who is not afraid of change receives generous dividends from life.
  6. A strong personality respects others  and what they do. A weak person will condemn everyone and everyone for literally every action.
  7. A strong personality does not waste time comparing.  Constantly looking around, supposedly, "Has anyone become better than me" is not characteristic of an independent person. As well as the approval of other people. He simply goes to his goal, working hard because of his abilities.
  8. A strong personality does only what he loves.If you do not have a soul for what you want to do, leave this activity. It is impossible to become an ace in an unloved affair.
  9. A strong personality does not humiliate either others or himself.A self-sufficient person does not need to look for vices in others and publicly ridicule their mistakes. As well as there is no need for endless self-flagellation and reflection on your mistakes. Of course, it is necessary to draw conclusions, but if you constantly look back, your life path will be like a back-to-back walk - a very great chance to stumble.

Fear is an integral part of life. Fearing is perfectly normal. But don't let fear get the better of you. To create and strengthen the nervous system at a high level, you should remember 7 simple rules.

Instruction manual

Do not avoid fear

Just comprehend it and perceive it only as a natural feeling. Analyze your fears and conclude that you are not required to succumb to them. Just think of them as a movie you recently watched. What you watch on the screen does not exist in life. Fear will come and go just like frames on film.

Don't live in the past

Know that it’s never too late to start over. But for this you need to let go of the past with all resentment and feelings. Leave only good memories and start living today.

Do not sympathize and do not spare yourself

Self-pity, various grievances encourage you to walk in a circle, then again and again return to the same negative thoughts. Scientists have proven that resentment held in the soul for years can lead to cancer. Therefore, it is foolish to punish yourself if someone once offended you.

Let go of the past with forgiveness

Forgiveness is goodbye. Farewell to various insults and experiences. Farewell to the event as a whole. And vice versa, unforgiveness can lead to the beginning of destructive activity within you - for years accumulating negative thoughts, as a result, turn against yourself.

Do not get hung up on bad thoughts

Try to think and say that everything in your life is wonderful. Direct your thoughts in a positive direction. Plan as many activities as you can on a daily basis. Leave time to relax with a book or to watch a good movie. Meet with friends, visit relatives.

Help other people, and you will see that it becomes easier for you and the soul is filled with light.

Despite the fact that you feel, keep your head up and behave as if everything is going fine for you.

Strong people also have a hard time. To withstand all the games of fate and not succumb to its provocation, you need to be strong in spirit. Guided by the basic principles of how to stay on your feet, you can learn to overcome all the hardships persistently.

A strong person is manifested in a willpower and spiritual balance. This power is not easy to keep with you, so every strong and smart person often adheres to simple rules:

1. Do not run from fear.

Everyone is afraid of something. When there comes a moment of fear, he fetters a person and he is ready to literally run away anywhere so that he no longer sees the cause of this fear. In order to defeat all your fears, try to understand yourself. Why is this happening. When you figure it out, you will understand - fear is what you yourself invented and drove into your head. And you yourself will not notice how your fears disappear by themselves.

2. Live in the present.

For a happy life in the present and future, it is very important that you as little as possible, or even not think about the past. Forget everything bad, take the load off your shoulders and live for today. Go meet the new, and all that has passed, forget as a nightmare.

3. Stop feeling sorry for yourself.

If we begin to feel sorry for ourselves, then we get stuck at some specific point. The cycle begins, which leads everything to the same result. What we accumulate over our entire lives leads to the loss of vitality, up to various diseases. And this is what must be fought with. Let go of all the bad and forgive the people who did something wrong.

4. Drive away bad thoughts.

Think only in a positive way. You must glow from the inside so that only your face turns towards you.

5. Take time for a hobby.

It is necessary to do not only what is needed, but also what you want. Go to the movies, go shopping, read books, ride horses, do yoga or fitness. Breathe deeply.

6. Help others.

It does not matter what kind of help you will do, the main thing is that everything goes from a pure heart. The more you help others, the easier it will be for you to live. Following these simple tips - you can easily survive all life's difficulties.

Do not boast about your success

As a rule, strong people are extremely focused on some significant things. They do not spend time and energy praising themselves; they just need to know their strengths. So modesty is a perfectly logical quality here.

Content with little

Luxury items and a comfortable stop around do not care so much for a strong person as his inner world. Often, strong people do not notice any external inconveniences and troubles and remain happy no matter what.

Do not humiliate others

Strong people are not interested in watching their neighbor “sink”. It is much more interesting to observe its growth and success. So they will try to do something useful to help the weak become better.

Do not listen to someone else's opinion

Strong people are focused on their own results, and such a trifle as public opinion is not able to knock them off their chosen course. They prefer to live with their heads on their shoulders than listen to what others are saying.

Do not take yourself too seriously

Too proud is not about a strong person. He knows how to perceive criticism and easily recognizes his own mistakes, as he understands that no one is perfect and everyone has the right to miss. Strong people do not take themselves too seriously, carefully masking their flaws from prying eyes. They just treat them with humor.

Do not seek attention

Strong people do not need outside encouragement. All that they need is within themselves, in their inner world.

Be able to listen

Strong people are happy to listen to others, extracting from their words something useful for themselves. They themselves, as a rule, are silent.

Everyone in life has moments when difficulties prevail, and his hands seem to be about to drop ... The stories of these amazingly strong-willed people will help many of us understand that we can cope with any situation and in any life circumstances, the main thing is to believe in ourselves and in your own strength!

1. Nick Vuychich: a man without arms and without legs, was able to stand up himself and teaches others

  Nick was born in Melbourne (Australia) with a rare disease: he does not have both hands to shoulder level, and a tiny foot with two fingers protrudes directly from the left thigh. Despite the lack of limbs, he is engaged in surfing and swimming, playing golf and football. Nick graduated from college, having received a diploma in two specializations at once - accounting and financial planning. Today, anyone can come to his lecture, in which Nick motivates people (especially teenagers) to never give up and believe in themselves, proving by his own example that even the impossible is possible.

2. Nando Parrado: surviving after the crash, 72 days waiting for help

  72 days of cold captivity suffered Nando and other passengers who miraculously survived in a terrible plane crash. Before flying over the mountains (which, ironically, happened on Friday the 13th), the young people who boarded the charter plane joked about the unlucky date, but they did not expect that this day they would really be in trouble.

It turned out that the wing of the plane caught on the side of the mountain and he, having lost his balance, fell down with a stone. When hitting the ground, 13 passengers were immediately killed, but 32 people survived, having been seriously injured. The survivors found themselves in conditions of extremely low temperatures, lack of water and food. They drank melted snow and slept side by side so as not to freeze. There was so little food that everyone did everything to find at least some living creature for a common dinner.

After 9 days of such survival in the conditions of severe cold and hunger, the victims of the disaster decided on extreme measures: in order to survive, they began to use the corpses of their comrades as food. So the group lasted another 2 weeks, at the end of which the hope of being saved completely disappeared, and the radio transistor (sending signals for help) turned out to be malfunctioning.

On the 60th day after the accident, Nando and two of his friends decided to go through the icy desert for help. By the time they left, the crash site looked terrible - saturated with urine and smelling of death, littered with human bones and cartilage. Wearing 3 pairs of pants and sweaters, he overcame huge distances with a couple of friends. Their little rescue team realized that they were the last hope for everyone who was still alive. Men steadfastly survived the exhaustion and cold that followed them on the heels. On the 10th day of wandering, they still found a way to the foot of the mountain. There, they finally met a Chilean farmer, the first person in all that time, who immediately called the police for help. Parrado led the rescue team with a helicopter and found a crash site. As a result, on December 22, 1972 (after 72 days of a fierce struggle against death), only 8 passengers remained alive.

After the plane crash, Nando lost half of his family, and during the crash he lost more than 40 kg of weight. Now he, like the previous hero of this article, is lecturing on the power of motivation in life to achieve goals.

3. Jessica Cox: first pilot without arms

  Jessica Cox suffers from a rare birth defect and was born without arms. None of the tests (which her mother passed during pregnancy) showed that something was wrong with the girl. Despite her rare illness, the girl has tremendous willpower. Today, as a young woman, Jessica can write, drive a car, comb her hair and talk on the phone. She manages to do all this with the help of her legs. She also graduated from the Department of Psychology, was engaged in dancing and is the owner of a double black belt in taekwondo. In addition to all this, Jessica has a driver’s license, she flies a plane and can print 25 words per minute.

The plane, which is controlled by the girl, is called "Ercoupe". This is one of the few models not equipped with pedals. Instead of the usual half-year, Jessica took a three-year course in airplane driving, during which she was trained by three highly qualified instructors. Now Jessica has more than 89 hours of flight experience and has become the first hands-free pilot in world history.

4. Sean Schwarner: overcame lung cancer and visited the 7 highest peaks of 7 continents

The highest mountain on earth Everest is known for its dangerous conditions for climbers to climb, among which are called: strong wind gusts, lack of oxygen, blizzards and deadly avalanches. Anyone who decides to conquer Everest faces incredible dangers all along the way. But for Sean Schwarner, as practice shows, obstacles simply do not exist.

Sean at one time was not just cured of cancer, his case is truly considered a medical miracle. He is the only person in the world who has survived the diagnosis of Hodgkin's disease and Askin's tumor. He was diagnosed with cancer of the fourth and last stage at the age of thirteen, and according to the forecasts of doctors, he was not supposed to live for three months. Nevertheless, Sean miraculously overcame his illness, which soon returned when doctors again discovered a tumor the size of a golf ball in his right lung. After the second operation to remove the tumor, the doctors decided that the patient would last no more than two weeks ... However, ten years later, Sean (whose lungs function only partially) became known to the whole world as the first person to survive cancer after climbing Mount Everest.

After conquering the highest point on the planet, Sean is full of desire and strength to move on and inspire people around the world to fight against the disease. You can learn about this and his other ascents to the mountains, his personal experience and ways to overcome the disease in his book “Continuing to grow: How I defeated cancer and conquered all the peaks of the world”.

5. Randy Pausch and his last lecture

  Frederick Randolph or Randy Pausch (years of life: October 23, 1960 - July 25, 2008) is an American professor of computer science at Carnegie Mellon University (CMU) in Pittsburgh, PA. In September 2006, Pausch found out that he had pancreatic cancer and that his illness was incurable. On September 18, 2007, he prepared and delivered a very optimistic (as for his condition) lecture entitled “Last lecture: Achieving your childhood dreams” within the walls of his native university, which soon became very popular on YouTube, and professors invited many famous media outlets .

In that famous speech, he spoke about the desires of his childhood and explained how he reached each of them. Among his desires were: to go to zero gravity; participate in the game of the National Football League; write an article for the encyclopedia “Book World”; Become one of those guys who “win the biggest plush toy in the amusement park”; to work as a designer-ideologist for the Disney company. He even co-authored to write a book called The Last Lecture (on the same topic), which soon became a bestseller. Although after a terrible diagnosis he was only prophesied for three months, he lived another 3 years. Pausch died July 25, 2008 after complications of cancer.

6. Ben Underwood: the boy who “saw” with his ears

  Ben Underwood was an ordinary moving teenager from California, just like his peers, he loved to ride a skateboard and a bicycle, play football and basketball. For the most part, the 14-year-old boy was the same as all children of his age. What makes Underwood's story unique is that the boy, leading a life common to his age, was completely blind. At the age of two years, Underwood was diagnosed with retinal cancer and both eyes were removed. To the surprise of most people familiar with the teenager, he was absolutely not worried about his blindness, despite the widespread stereotypes of blindness as "the end of life."

So, how did he manage to move no worse than sighted guys? The answer is simple: it is all about echolocation - a technique commonly used by bats, dolphins and some other mammals and birds. When moving, Underwood usually made clicking sounds with his tongue, and these sounds reflected off surfaces, “showing” him the nearest objects. He could distinguish between a fire hydrant and a bin, and literally “saw” the difference between parked cars and trucks. Arriving at the house (where he had never been before), Ben could tell in which corner the kitchen, and in which the staircase. Unshakably believing in God, the boy and his mother fought to the last for his life, but the cancer soon spread to Ben's brain and spine, and he died in January 2009 at the age of 16.

7. Liz Murray: from the slums to Harvard

Elizabeth Murray was born September 23, 1980 in the Bronx, in a family of HIV-infected parents, in the New York area, where only the poor and drug addicts lived. She became homeless when she was only 15, after sweeping her mother and after her father was taken to a poor shelter. Whatever the girl had to endure during this time, but once Murray’s life changed dramatically, namely after she began to attend the humanitarian course of the Preparatory Academy in Chelsea, in Manhattan. And although she went to high school later than her peers (having no permanent housing and taking care of herself and her sister), Murray graduated from them in just two years ( note: in the USA the high school program is designed for 4 years) She was then awarded New York Times scholarships for needy students and was admitted to Harvard University in the fall of 2000. Liz was forced to interrupt her studies at the university in order to care for her sick father. Continuing his studies at Columbia University, where she was closer to him and stayed with him until the end, until he died of AIDS. In May 2008, she returned to Harvard and graduated in psychology.

Subsequently, her biography, full of tragedy and faith, became the basis for the film, which was released in 2003. Today, Liz works as a professional speaker, representing the Bureau of Washington Speakers. During each lecture for students and groups of business audiences, she tries to instill in the audience her strength of mind and will, which pulled her out of the slums as a teenager and directed her on the right track.

8. Patrick Henry Hughes: a blind cripple participating in Louisville Marching Band concerts

  Patrick is a unique young man born without eyes and unable to fully straighten his arms and legs, which made his movement impossible. In addition, two steel rods were surgically attached to his spine to correct scoliosis, despite all these circumstances, he overcame his many physical problems and excelled as a student and musician. Patrick learned to play the piano and trumpet, and also began to sing. With the help of his father, he took part in concerts by marching bands at the Louisville University School of Music.

A virtuoso piano player, vocalist and trumpeter, Patrick has won numerous contests and received awards for his strength of will and spirit, because what only cost the young man to achieve all this. Many publications and television channels wrote and talked about him, because such a huge willpower cannot be unnoticed.

9. Matt Fraser: a seal man whose ailment did not prevent him from achieving success in show business

  The Englishman Mat was born with a serious illness - fokomeliya of both hands (underdevelopment or lack of limbs). This was due to side effects of the drug "Thalidomide" prescribed to his mother during pregnancy. Unfortunately, this is far from the only case when the imperfection of medicine and the professional mistakes of doctors can ruin life.

Although Matt’s hands grow directly from the torso, and there are no shoulders and forearms, his physical handicap did not prevent him from becoming a completely successful person. Fraser is not at all shy of his appearance, moreover, he often shockes the audience by speaking naked. Matt is not only a rock musician, but also a rather famous actor, whose fame was brought by the role of Seal in the acclaimed series "American Horror Story: Circus Freaks." By the way, Fraser is far from the only actor in the series whose unusual appearance was not created using makeup or computer graphics. It was probably the fokomelia that helped Matt Fraser to play the character so plausibly from the injustice of nature.

Fraser proved to many that for success in show business it is not at all necessary to run to plastic surgeons, shredding your body to please fashion trends. The main thing: to have willpower, hard work and talent!

10. Andrea Bocelli: a blind singer who conquered the hearts of millions with his voice

  Andrea Bocelli is a world famous singer from Italy. Rare musical abilities woke up in Andrea in early childhood, when he learned to play keyboards, saxophone and flute. Unfortunately, the boy developed glaucoma and almost three dozen operations did not give the desired result. As you know, Italians are one of the nations that love football. It was this hobby that forever deprived the boy of his sight when (during the game) a soccer ball hit his head.

Blindness did not prevent Andrea from studying: having received a law degree, he continued his musical education with Franco Corelli, one of the best opera singers in Italy. A talented young man attracted attention and began to invite him to various performances. Soon, the career of a young singer quickly went uphill. Andrea became a popularizer of opera music, successfully combining it with a modern pop style. An angelic voice helped him achieve success and world fame.

11. Gillian Mercado: a girl who got on the covers of glamorous magazines despite a wheelchair

  Few can boast of meeting the strictest requirements of the fashion world. Trying to get into the ranks of models, girls exhaust themselves with diets and physical exercises. However, Gillian Mercado proved that you can love your body even when it is far from modern ideals of beauty. In early childhood, Mercado was diagnosed with muscular dystrophy - a terrible disease that caused Gillian to be confined to a wheelchair. It would seem that dreams of a world of haute couture were not destined to come true. Nevertheless, our heroine managed to attract the attention of the founders of the Diesel brand. In 2015, she was offered a lucrative contract and often began to invite to various photo sessions. In 2016, she was invited to participate in a campaign for the Beyoncé official website.

Of course, no one will envy the fate of Gillian, because she is forced to overcome every second pain. However, the popularity of Mercado helps girls accept themselves as they were created by nature. Thanks to such strong-willed personalities, you begin to thank life for the gifts that we so often take for granted.

12. Esther Verger: multiple champion with paralyzed legs

  Esther was born in the Netherlands in 1981. Since childhood, she was fond of sports, actively involved in swimming. However, during physical exertion, the girl often became ill. Despite numerous analyzes, doctors for a long time could not make Esther an accurate diagnosis. After several brain hemorrhages, doctors finally identified Esther's problem - vascular myelopathy. At 9 years old, the girl underwent a complicated operation, which lasted about 10 hours. Unfortunately, surgery further worsened the condition of the baby, in which both legs were paralyzed.

The wheelchair did not stop Esther from continuing to exercise. She played basketball and volleyball quite successfully, however, tennis brought her worldwide fame. Verger has become the champion of the Grand Slam 42 times. Hundreds of Esther victories have become a source of inspiration for people with disabilities who dream of a sports career.

Although in 2013 the girl finally left professional sports, she continues to achieve success. Having been educated in the field of sports management, Verger now holds the post of director of the international wheelchair tennis tournament, is a consultant to the Netherlands Paralympic team and gives lectures. In addition, she founded a charity foundation to help sick children play their favorite sport.

13. Peter Dinklage: became a star of the screen despite the non-standard appearance

  Peter is a vivid example of people who are able to succeed despite all life's barriers. Dinklage was born with achondroplasia - a rare hereditary disease that results in the development of long bones. According to doctors, the cause of achondroplasia lies in the mutations of the growth gene, which leads to dwarfism. The boy’s family income was rather meager: his mother taught music, and his father (once an insurance agent) became unemployed. Far from the most rosy childhood brightened up performances in front of the audience with an older brother - a talented violinist.

Usually fame comes to the actors quite early, but the lucky star was lit for Peter only in 2003 (when Peter was already 34 years old) after the release of the film "Station Warden". The not-so-rich track record in the early years of his career is due to the actor’s unwillingness to star in roles in which dwarfs are usually involved. Peter flatly refused to play dwarves or lepricons. From 2011 to the present day, Dinklage plays the role of Tyrion Lannister - one of the key characters in the most successful series of our time. Acting talent brought Peter many honorary awards and not so long ago a wax figure of Dinklage appeared in the Madame Tussauds Museum in San Francisco.

14. Michael Jay Fox: an actor, writer, and public figure whom even Parkinson's disease did not stop on the road to success.

A Canadian by birth, Michael from a young age gained fame in Hollywood. He was remembered by the audience thanks to the role of Marty McFly in the cult series of films about time travel. The worldwide love of fans, an impressive fortune (which totals several tens of millions of dollars) - many will envy this. That's just the life of Macle only seems cloudless. The actor was no more than 30 years old when he began to develop symptoms of Parkinson's disease, although this disease usually occurs in old age. For a long time, Michael did not want to put up with the diagnosis: the furious denial of the disease almost caused a new problem - alcoholism. Fortunately, the support of loved ones helped Fox to reason in time.

Fox (despite all the physical difficulties caused by the tremor) continues to act in films to this day, striking us with acting talent. It is worth noting his participation in the series "Boston Lawyers", where Michael played Daniel Post - a rich man who broke the law in an effort to preserve his health. Now Michael (in addition to a career in film and writing) is actively involved in supporting people suffering from Parkinson's disease. In the late 90s, he established a public organization designed to study aspects of the disease and ways to combat it.

15. Stephen Hawking: A Paralyzed Genius Inspiring Millions of People to Learn Science

  Speaking of people who have accomplished the impossible, one cannot but mention the luminary of modern science - Stephen Hawking. Stephen was born in 1942 in Oxford - the British city, known worldwide for one of the oldest universities. It was there that our genius will study later. The craving for science was probably inherited from his parents, who worked at the medical center.

During training (when Stephen was no more than 20 years old), he began to show serious health problems due to the development of amyotrophic lateral sclerosis. This disease causes damage to the central nervous system and leads to muscle atrophy, and subsequently can cause complete paralysis. Unfortunately, existing medications only slow down the disease, but do not treat it. Hawking, contrary to the attempts of doctors, was slowly losing the ability to control his own body and now he is barely able to move only one finger of his right hand. Luckily for Steven, meeting talented scientists has paid off: thanks to friends' achievements, Hawking can move and socialize using an advanced wheelchair and speech synthesizer.

For many people, a wheelchair becomes a curse that completely destroys the person and the desire to do what they love. However, Hawking demonstrates to us that even a completely paralyzed person is able to earn impressive amounts, flash in the headlines of the media and build successful relationships on a personal front. Stephen's main achievement was his colossal contribution to modern physics and the advancement of science to the masses. Serious health problems did not deprive Stephen Hawking of a sense of humor: he loves to make comic scientific bets and even appeared in the comedy series The Big Bang Theory, playing the role of himself.

These amazing personalities have shown by their own example that infinite power lies in people. Man is able to survive in the most severe conditions. Will and perseverance help fight the disease and succeed. Science, sports, cinema, music, the world of fashion - all areas of activity remain accessible under any circumstances. Do not curse fate for all adversity. Find the incentive to win and do not give up. And perhaps one day your path to success will motivate others!

You must have heard the words more than once "Strong-willed man"  or "Strong personality."  But it’s rather difficult to say unequivocally what exactly is behind these words.

Most often, speaking of a strong personality, people mean iron will, endurance, a positive outlook on life and the ability to resurrect from the ashes like a phoenix bird. Such a person is not broken by any difficulties or blows of fate, grief and adversity.

Yes, strong people definitely have something to learn.

Who do you think depicted in the photograph?

This is the Soviet athlete Valery Brumel, Honored Master of Sports, Olympic champion, champion of Europe and the USSR in high jump.

Three times in a row - in nineteen sixty-first, sixty-second and sixty-third years - Valery Brumel was recognized as the best athlete on the planet.

It was during these years that he set six world records, the last of which was updated only after eight years.

When he spoke, everyone was expecting a new record.

At the peak of his sports career, Valery Brumel got into a car accident and suffered a very difficult leg fracture. It took more than thirty operations so that the athlete could only move independently, it seemed that he could put an end to his sports career. Valery did not lose hope. Stubbornness - part of his strong personality - did not allow him to give up without a fight, and he returned to training. After several years spent in plaster, it was not easy. But it was even more difficult to bear the fact that many stopped believing in him. Still, the athlete did not want to leave the vanquished. Despite the injuries that haunted him, he was able to overcome himself and conquered his last height.

In March 1969, Valery Brumel gathered close friends and acquaintances in the stadium and, in their presence, from five attempts took a height of two hundred and five centimeters.

Despite the fact that this height did not bring any medals, it was a real feat. Valery Brumel remained in people's memory a model of unbroken will, a strong man.

In order to feel like a full and strong personality, you also need active social behavior. Strong personalities are capable of the open manifestation of their emotions, feelings and experiences. Such people are never afraid to have an opinion and strive to keep abreast of everything.

Strong personality  - This is a person with a strong character. At the lessons of history and literature, you probably already met the heroes of various works with a strong character. The fates of these people tell us that even in a very difficult life situation, they were able to achieve their goal through perseverance and determination.

For example, the protagonist of the work of Boris Polevoy, "The Tale of a Real Man," fighter pilot Alexei Meresyev. In one of the air battles, his plane was shot down. In the fall, the pilot survived, but severely injured his legs. For eighteen days, a wounded pilot crawled along the winter frost to the front line. Overcoming pain, hunger and fatigue, Aleksey was able to reach his own. At the hospital, doctors had to amputate both of his legs in order to save the wounded man. Meresyev received prostheses and began to master them with his usual tenacity.

But despite all the efforts of Alexei, the doctors were skeptical that, having lost his legs, the pilot wants not only to return to the front, but also to continue flying. But when they saw the footless pilot dancing, they gave a positive answer, and Alexey returned to aviation and continued to defend his homeland.

You will probably be interested to know that the protagonist of the "Tale of a Real Man" has a living prototype. Soviet military pilot. Hero of the Soviet Union Alexei Petrovich Maresyev.

Due to a serious injury during the Great Patriotic War, both legs were amputated from him. However, despite the disability, the pilot returned to the sky and flew with prostheses. Vsegoza during the war made eighty-six sorties, shot down eleven enemy aircraft: four before and seven after being wounded.

Thus, strong personalities have one more quality: they are able to give up personal benefits and interests when it is necessary to help others, protect their homeland, and defend the independence and freedom of the Fatherland.

Egoism only says that a person is most worried about his well-being and depends on it, and a dependent person cannot be strong.

A strong person, on the contrary, has enough internal energy to take into account the interests of other people, that is, to be moral, and use his abilities and positive character traits to do things that are useful to other people or the whole society.

It is necessary to respect yourself and at the same time analyze your actions and be aware of the reasons for their commission: the less critical a person is, the worse they will feel about him.

It is important to understand that the vices of the human person are laziness, selfishness, arrogance, and virtues are love for one's neighbor, justice and honesty.

A strong personality is persistent and single-minded.

For example, the German composer Ludwig van Beethoven. At the age of twenty-eight, the composer began to lose his hearing, but deafness could not stop Beethoven's desire to create. As the composer said: “It seemed unthinkable to me to leave the world before I did everything that I felt called to.”

Towards the end of his life, Beethoven not only completely deaf, but also began to lose his sight, and being completely deaf, he wrote one of his best works - the ninth symphony.

Beethoven was a man of strong will, persistent and single-minded. This helped him, despite deafness, to develop his talent and become a brilliant composer.

And what do you think, could Beethoven create if he said to himself: “I am weak, I am sick, and I can’t write music?”

Many scientists believe that the concept of a strong personality is ambiguous. For example, in high school you will get acquainted with the work of Fyodor Dostoevsky's “Demons”.

One of the characters in the novel is retired officer Nikolai Stavrogin. A man of great strength calmly goes into a duel and shoots in the air so as not to kill an opponent, but does not find the strength to repent publicly of his crimes. He has the strength of personality, but this force was not enough for the necessary and really difficult matter.

As we see, a strong personality should have a number of certain qualities. American psychotherapist Amy Morin has identified nine things that strong personalities do every day. So, strong personalities:

· Recognize and manage their emotions;

· Maintain healthy optimism;

· Solve problems;

· Are condescending to themselves;

· Determine the emotional boundaries;

· Manage time wisely;

· Strive to achieve the goal;

· Strive to become even stronger.

As we see, not only selected and talented people can be a strong personality, but also everyone who is willing to work on themselves and make some efforts.

At the end of our lesson, let's recall the main points.

A strong personality can be called a person who has a strong character. Such a person is not broken by any difficulties or blows of fate, grief and adversity.

The following qualities should be inherent in him:

· Exposure;

· Active social behavior;

· Open manifestation of their emotions, feelings, experiences;

· a strong character;

Persistence;

Purposefulness;

· The ability to abandon personal goods and interests;

· Healthy self-criticism.
