Children's school of design thinking MakeSchool. Communication design Children's Art School "Start"

The program includes three courses:

  1. Art studio and calligraphy (2-year course) for grades 1-4
    The course is an excursion into history through the development of different techniques and trends in art. Each lesson is a certain milestone in the development of art. The student will be able to feel like an ancient Greek, having created a sketch of a drawing of an ancient Greek amphora, an art worker of Ancient Egypt and many others.
  2. Design and drawing for grades 5-11.
    Classes will show the student an abundance of areas of creativity, and he will be able to choose the most interesting for himself in the future, in which he wants to develop. When mastering the course "Design", children will create works that meet modern creative trends in the world, such as: site layout (sketch), layout (art object), logo design, creation of a cartoon character sketch. The guys will learn to work with analogs and generate ideas in different ways. Each lesson will create one completed work that the student will bring home.
  3. Sketching for grades 6-11.
    This course lays the foundations for the art of quick sketching through sketching. Since sketching is based on stylization, students, developing imaginative thinking, will learn to stylize objects using the main characteristics of the depicted objects.

Design and drawing courses - program features:

  • Creation of artwork in each of the lessons.
  • An introduction to the history of art (modern and classical).
  • Learning popular painting techniques.
  • Mastering the technology of working with various creative materials and techniques.
  • Possibility of further training on the course "Sketching".

The School of Design Thinking and Industrial Design Make School is a children's educational project of the industrial design studio Make Fabrication Studio. The studio provides industrial design, prototyping and small-scale production services using modern digital technologies, develops and launches products of its own design, is a regular participant in festivals dedicated to innovations and modern technologies (Geek Picnic, Maker's Fair, Science Festival). The Center for Youth Innovative Creativity "Make" operates on the basis of the studio.

The Make Fabrication Studio team conducts training courses and master classes on object design and digital production at the Flacon design plant, participated in the development and implementation of educational programs for the Details School of Design, Lomonosov schools, and a summer camp at Bauman University.

"Grandfather is the editor-in-chief of Yeralash, dad is a famous director, and no one has filmed me in films."

Make Fabrication Studio is the first and only Certified Inventor Club Leader in Russia by LittleBits (www.littlebits.cc), one of the leaders in STEAM education. The partnership enables the School's students to become members of the global LittleBits community. Students can share their inventions on the company's international online platform, learn from practitioners, share their projects with guys from all over the world, and participate in design challenges.

Why is industrial design promising?

The main task of industrial design is to "package" complex technologies that are becoming more complicated every day into an object that is understandable and easily used by users.
Changes are constantly taking place in this area. Modern technologies (artificial intelligence (AI), Internet of Things, biomimicry) give designers the opportunity to practically not limit their imaginations when creating new things. In the future, the world will move from a traditional linear economy (resources-production-use-utilization) to a circular economy (more rational, re-use of resources, a concept of use instead of a concept of ownership). Examples of such innovative companies are Uber, AirBnb, etc.

And in the future, when creating a new product (or redesigning an existing one), the industrial designer, at the beginning of development, will need to think over how the product will be used after it fails or becomes obsolete. This affects the choice of materials, structural elements, packaging, and user experience design. Therefore, today it is necessary to rethink the design of almost all existing objects and systems.

What is design thinking and why is it needed?

Design thinking is a method of creating new products and services focused on a person and his needs. This approach allows you to effectively create new products that will not gather dust on the shelves like unnecessary inventions, but will be in demand on the market.
In the classroom at Make School, students:
- get acquainted with the techniques of design thinking and try to apply them in practice, working on their projects;
- create prototypes of inventions from scrap materials and using rapid prototyping tools (LittleBits electrical blocks), which are used today in their work by well-known international companies such as Google X, Ideo, SAP, TechStars, etc .;
- how real industrial designers use sketchbooks to document their ideas and seek inspiration, keep Invention Journals, which reflect all stages of work on projects;
- participate in international design challenges from LittleBits and learn to present their projects.

Classes are held:

As you know, the word design quite firmly established in the Russian language for a long time. It denotes both the process of activity and its result. The fact is that the English translation of this word is very polysemantic: design is a drawing, a sketch, and a plan, and this word can also be translated as a verb - to draw, invent, and so on. Be that as it may, this term means something creative, something that is clearly aimed at improving or decorating reality.

Studios, houses and schools for creative development invite interested boys and girls to classes, lectures and master classes, where competent and experienced teachers will share the secrets of the profession, teach children to create and design things with their own hands, and bring up an aesthetic taste. Even the smallest children are happy to be involved in the process and develop fine motor skills, thinking, and creativity.

Designers are in demand in many areas of modern society: it is not in vain that many universities train professionals who can work in various fields - for example, interior designers, clothing, industrial premises, landscapes, etc. Often, skills acquired in childhood help children to understand all the subtleties deeper and the secrets of this direction of creativity according to the laws of beauty.

Kindergarten landscape design: thinking about safety

The courtyards of kindergartens, as a rule, should be not only beautiful, but also safe for children. One of the main tips for those who design their territories - instead of pouring concrete over the site, it is better to sow grass. Preschoolers often do not stay on their feet during active games, and the grass will soften their fall. In addition, it is an environmentally friendly material, the costs of which are very low. Outdoor team games (basketball, volleyball) require wooden flooring - this is also an environmentally friendly and inexpensive way to improve the design of the territory. Do not get carried away with planting a large number of flowers: the guys can accidentally damage them and violate the integrity of the composition. And, of course, you cannot plant plants that can prick children (for example, roses, but this is not very applicable to the northern latitudes of Russia). Rubberized or plastic figures and artificial grass are also safe objects. But it is important that these materials are of high quality and non-toxic.

How to develop design skills in a preschooler with applied tasks

When completing applied tasks, children should be aware that the fruit of their labor should be noticeable and implemented in real life. Therefore, the goals become specific: for example, to create a poster for a festival, a business card or an element of interior design. It would be wrong if what a boy or girl creates simply falls on the shelf. At the same time, children can independently arrange elements, apply new knowledge and skills. Moreover, experimentation and flight of imagination are encouraged - many adults can be amazed at the creative thinking of toddlers!

What are closed and open compositions?

Not only the future artist and graphic artist, but also the designer should be familiar with the basics of building a composition. What are they like? Allocate closed and open. The first (which can also be called static or closed) embodies the ideas of solidity, steadfastness, stability and immobility. It is characterized by the main directions of the lines directed towards the center, the construction of popular geometric objects according to the shape, taking into account symmetry. The closed composition is distinguished by a clear outer contour. And the open composition gives a feeling of spaciousness, freedom, "air". In this case, the lines are directed not towards the center, but away from it. Often there is not one compositional knot, but several, a kind of rhythm is felt.
