General Director of Visa in Russia Ekaterina Petelina: “Contactless payments have already gained popularity in Russia. 95% of Russian cardholders with contactless payment technology already actively use this payment method and value it for its speed, convenience and safety. Keep in mind that Russians are also actively using Android smartphones, so it’s natural to combine the two concepts and provide a large number of Visa cardholders with the ability to make payments using their mobile phones. The AndroidPay service works wherever Visa contactless card payments are accepted. Today's launch is our next contribution to the development of cashless payments in Russia ”.

Svetlana Kirsanova, Senior Managing Director of the Retail Business Block of Sberbank: “13.9 million Sberbank customers access the Sberbank Online (SBOL) mobile application using smartphones with the Android operating system. At the moment, 30% of Sberbank customers who use the SBOL application on smartphones from Apple and Samsung with the required technical configuration (NFC chip, the latest version of the operating system) have connected to Apple Pay and Samsung Pay. We are talking about 1 million people. To date, these clients have completed 13 million transactions, the largest one - 728 thousand rubles (three-person flight in Fly Dubai business class on the Bali-Kazan route with a transfer in Dubai). Of the total volume of transactions, 5.8 million were carried out in large cities (Moscow, St. Petersburg, Novosibirsk, etc.), 6.2 million - in the rest of Russia, including in small towns and settlements. Most often, a smartphone is used to pay for purchases in the food retail sector, in restaurants / cafes / entertainment, as well as expenses associated with car maintenance - gas stations, spare parts, etc. Only 7.4 million people use the Sberbank Online application from Apple smartphones. "

Head of the Electronic Business Unit of Alfa-Bank Vladimir Urbansky: “For added convenience and security, we offer our clients unique functionality - in the Alfa-Mobile mobile application, you can block a plastic card if it is lost or stolen, while leaving Android Pay active. Thus, the client will not be left without funds, even if the plastic itself is lost. We expect that the owners of Android smartphones will appreciate the convenience and reliability of the new service and will regularly use it - just as many of our clients - owners of smartphones of other platforms already do.

Deputy Chairman of the Management Board, Director of Payment Systems Tinkoff Bank Anatoly Makeshin: “Thanks to Android Pay, our customers, owners of Android devices, will be able to make purchases with one touch. At the same time, they will still be able to receive bonuses for all purchases made with the card and enjoy other advantages of Tinkoff Bank cards. "

Yulia Demenyuk, Senior Vice President, Deputy Director of the Retail Business Department at VTB24: “More than half of VTB24 customers use Android smartphones, so the new service will be in no less demand than the already launched contactless payment methods. Statistics show that the monthly volume of transactions of one client after the card is linked to the mobile payment service increases by 10,000 rubles, and many practically stop using physical plastic. "

This and other topics will be discussed at our Forum, which will be held in Moscow on June 7-8, 2017.

The Android Pay payment system was officially launched in Russia on May 23, 2017. The Google contactless payment service has announced the possibility of connecting to it cards of 10 banks of the Russian Federation, which has become the 11th country in which Android Pay operates.

Separately, it is worth noting that you can connect both Mastercard and Visa bank cards to Android Pay, which will allow a larger number of customers in the Russian Federation to make contactless payments. Android Pay is a mobile application to which you link a bank card, and then you can use your smartphone or smart watch to pay for services or goods in retail outlets that have appropriate contactless payment terminals.

By the way, Android Pay does not charge the user with a transaction fee, that is, exactly the amount that is indicated on the price tag and in the check will be debited from the buyer's card.

Which banks and cards work with Android Pay

At the start of the Android Pay payment system in Russia, you can connect Visa and Mastercard cards of major Russian banks to it:

What devices does Android Pay work on?

As follows from the description of the new payment system for Android Pay, it is installed on devices supporting NFC technologies running the Android mobile operating system from 4.4 and higher.

Thus, if your smartphone or smartwatch has versions of Android such as KitKat, Lollipop, Marshmallow or Nougat, the device has an official firmware and is not "loaded", then installing Android Pay on it will pass without problems.

How to connect a bank card to Android Pay?

And so, if you have a suitable smartphone or watch, you can install the Android Pay application on it by downloading it from the Google Play store. Immediately after the first launch of Android Pay on your smartphone, the service will offer you to connect your bank card to Android Pay.

To connect, you can point the camera of your smartphone to the front of the card to read data such as credit card number and expiration date, or you can enter these data into the application manually. In addition to this data, you will be required to enter the CVV code located on the back of your bank card and the user's address. After that, a verification code will be sent to confirm the binding.

Contactless payment via Android Pay in Russia is available at any outlet that has terminals that support NFC technology (PayPass, PayWave).

There are similar payment terminals in large retail chains of the country, for example, Azbuka Vkusa, Karusel, Magnit, Okay, Pyaterochka, Perekrestok, Eldorado, Starbucks, KFC, Burger King , "Teremok", "Doubleby". You can also pay by the contactless method at gas stations, for example, Rosneft, Bashneft, BP, etc.

According to the press service of Sberbank, by the end of 2017, they promise to provide the possibility of contactless payment at all their terminals in the retail chains of Russia, which is more than 1,000,000 devices throughout the country.

How to make a payment using Android Pay

In order to pay for a service or product, you need to "wake up" your smartphone or "smart watch" with Android Pay installed and bring this device to the payment terminal for a couple of seconds, until the information about successful payment appears on the screen of your gadget.

In some cases, the seller or cashier may ask you to manually enter your PIN-code or sign a payment receipt. Such situations depend on the requirements of the banks that issued the card or connected the terminal to the outlet. Usually, for payments up to 1000 rubles, there is no need to confirm the transaction with a PIN code.

Please note that you can have several different bank cards connected to the Android Pay application at once, in this case you yourself can choose the "default" card that will be used for payment in standard mode, but you can always open the application before making a transaction and choose another card for payment, or even reassign the "default card".

Android Pay security - how are payments secured?

The Google corporation said that it guarantees the non-use of information about bank cards connected to the Android Pay service, that is, the payment system creates a virtual card account, the seller has access to data about such virtual accounts, but not about the data of your cards.

At the same time, there are other degrees of protection of your financial data, for example, when you first start Android Pay, the system will require you to install protection on your smartphone: either graphically or using a fingerprint. If you do not, or disable protection yourself, AndroidPay will delete your payment information.

Similarly, banking data will be erased if your device is inactive for 90 days. In addition, you can always block or "reset" your smartphone in case of loss or theft using Android Device Manager.

Android Pay appeared in Russia quite recently. But already now this system has won the hearts of many. We have to deal with all its features. What is "Android Pay"? And how do you use it?

Description

Android Pay in Russia is nothing more than a contactless payment service. It works easily and simply. A citizen binds a bank card to a mobile device through a special application. After that, a person has the opportunity to pay for goods and services using the phone.

The main thing is that the Android operating system is installed on the device. Otherwise, the trick will not work. In fact, we are dealing with an application that replaces bank plastic. But what should every modern citizen know about Android Pay in Russia?

Bank support

For example, it is important to figure out which banks the system under study works with. Unfortunately, today the list of financial institutions is very limited. It includes 13 banks in total.

Which ones? Android Pay in Russia works with the following financial companies:

  • VTB 24;
  • Sberbank;
  • "Yandex money";
  • "Alfa Bank";
  • "Opening";
  • Tinkoff;
  • B&N Bank;
  • MTS Bank;
  • Rosselkhozbank;
  • Promsvyazbank;
  • Ak Bars Bank;
  • Raiffeisenbank.

This list will be updated in the future. But so far, "Android Pay" only supports the plastic of the listed organizations.

Phone support

But that's not all. You need to find out which devices support Android Pay. After all, this system will not work on all phones.

In total, there are 2 conditions that must be met. Namely:

  • the presence of an NFC chip;
  • operating system Android 4.4 and newer.

Also, sometimes among the requirements, the possibility of card emulation (HCE) is distinguished. Android Pay even works with older phones.

For example, we can highlight the 2013 models:

  • "Sony Xperia X Ze 1";
  • "Samsung Galaxy Es 5";
  • "HTC Wan".

It is advisable to see the characteristics of your phone. This is the only way to understand whether it will be possible to use the studied electronic payment system. The bulk of modern smartphones allows you to bring your idea to life.

About root rights

One more nuance. Android Pay will not work on jailbroken smartphones. That is, the opportunity under study is offered only to bona fide phone owners.

Those who like to delve into the Android system will either have to abandon contactless payments via the phone, or purchase a new gadget. As long as there is no root permissions, everything will work fine. But as soon as the device is hacked, Android Pei will cease to perform its functions.

Installation

Now let's look at the process of working with the application. How do I use Android Pay? In fact, everything is simpler than it seems. The most difficult thing is linking a bank card. This will be discussed later.

First, you should install the appropriate application. This is done like this:

  1. Open Google Play.
  2. Pass authorization in the application.
  3. Search for Android Pay.
  4. Select the proposed result.
  5. Download the corresponding application.
  6. Run the resulting document.
  7. Follow the instructions on the display to complete the initialization.

That's all. The Android Pay electronic payment system is sometimes tampered with. It is worth paying attention to the developer of the program. The original app will have the signature "Google Inc." It is advisable to avoid downloading the utility from third-party sites.

Customization

At the listed steps, preparation for using contactless payments via phones is not downloaded. Now that Android Pay is installed on your smartphone, you need to properly configure the program.

The setup guide will look something like this:

  1. Launch "Android Drink".
  2. Dial the bank card details (validity period, number, CVV) in the menu that appears.
  3. Indicate information about the owner of the plastic.
  4. Enter the address of the place of residence.
  5. Register a mobile phone number.
  6. Enter the transaction confirmation code. It will come to your mobile via SMS.
  7. Click on the "Allow" button. It will be automatically displayed after entering the confirmation code for adding a card.

It is done. Now you can use Android Pay. Sberbank, like any of the previously listed banks, will allow, after the actions taken, to pay with the phone for purchases in stores or on the network.

Other cards

"Android Pay" has support for additional cards, discount plastics and gift certificates. They can be added to the program menu if desired. Then there will be no need to always carry the listed cards with you.

How to cope with the task at hand? You will need to follow the following type of guide:

  1. Open Android Pay.
  2. Press the round plus button.
  3. Select the type of added plastic.
  4. Scan a barcode or manually dial the card number.
  5. Save changes.

Fast, simple, convenient. In reality, everything is much simpler than it seems. Not all banks support the option under study. Android Pay appeared in Russia in early 2017. And therefore, the list of financial institutions is still limited. But you can add any discount and gift cards to the program. After all, contactless payments by phone are theoretically possible in all retail outlets.

About using

We got acquainted with the main stages of preparation for using Android Pay. Now what?

You can pay using a mobile device. This requires only 2 steps. Namely:

  1. Unlock your phone.
  2. Bring your smartphone to the payment terminal.

In just a few seconds, data will be read from a mobile phone. The money will be written off from the added banking plastic. Everything is very simple.

Without unlocking

In some cases, Android Pay is used by another financial institution - it doesn't matter who accepts the funds in just one step. It is allowed to bypass the requirement to unlock the mobile device.

In other words, in certain cases, a citizen must simply take out a phone and attach it to a special reading device. Such an alignment is allowed if the payment is more than 1,000 rubles.

Multiple cards

What if the user has several maps added to the Android Pay program? What plastic will the funds be debited from?

This parameter is set by the user himself. When linking several cards to Android Pay, you will have to open the application and select the necessary plastic there. There is no other way to make a payment.

Not all shops

It is also important to remember that Android Pay in Russia does not work in all retail outlets. Although, in theory, the application should function equally well in every store.

Firstly, the studied possibility cannot be implemented in retail outlets without the support of cashless payments.

Second, the reader must have a contactless chip. Fortunately, almost all modern cashless payment machines are equipped with this part.

It is advisable to look at the entrance to the store (or at the checkout) support for "Android Pay". Then the user will be able to answer exactly whether he will be able to use the studied program or not.

Watch and Android Pay

Surprisingly, modern citizens can make contactless payments using special watches. They are produced by mobile phone manufacturers. Not all gadget models have Android Pay support.

This option is now available on Huawei Watch 2 and LG Watch Sport. How to proceed in such circumstances?

There is no difference between a phone and a watch in our case. The user will have to download Android Pay for the wrist gadget, install the program and tie the plastic to the device. To pay using the listed devices, you just need to turn them on and bring them to the reader.

Conclusion

We found out what Android Pay can do. Banks in Russia support the option studied. But so far, there are few financial institutions that allow contactless electronic payments.

Already today "Android Pay" is very popular. It is easy to configure and work with this utility. Especially if you follow the instructions listed earlier.

If a person's smartphone supports Android Pay, it is better to connect to this system. No fee is charged for using the application. In addition, there is no commission for completed transactions either. This means you won't have to overpay. How do I use Android Pay? The answer to this question will no longer make you think!

If you have an Android phone, then I have good news, Android Pay payments have been earned in Russia, you can try to pay directly from your phone without taking your card out of your wallet. In principle, it was possible to pay for purchases earlier using an Android smartphone, for example, Tinkoff-Bank supports such operations, but for this you need to launch the application every time, confirm the payment by performing unnecessary actions.

Which banks do they support?

So far, the list of banks consists of such organizations, and subsequently it will grow.

  • "Alfa Bank";
  • Ak Bars Bank;
  • B&N Bank (at the time of launch only MasterCard);
  • "VTB 24";
  • MTS Bank;
  • "Otkrytie" (including "Rocketbank" and "Tochka");
  • Promsvyazbank;
  • Raiffeisenbank;
  • Rosselkhozbank;
  • Russian Standard (at the time of launch, only MasterCard);
  • Sberbank;
  • Tinkoff Bank;
  • Yandex.Money (MasterCard only).

What phones do they support?

All smartphones on Android I am tortured to list here, the main thing is that there is NFC support, and the phone has Android 4.4 and higher. In addition, the list of requirements includes the presence of an official firmware, no custom. Also, the phone must be without root and without an unlocked bootloader. If you don't know what it is, that's great, but if you have already delved into the phone's stuffing, then don't be surprised that there may be problems.

NFC works in most mid-range phones, but there are problems with budget models, there are not so many options with NFC. It's clear that if you have a top-end Galaxy or Xiaomi, then this issue is not discussed, you will have NFC.

Accordingly, don't forget to enable NFC in the settings. And don't worry, this function does not consume battery power.

Where can I get the application?

In theory, the program can be found on Google Play, but at the time of preparing the material, the utility could not be found by searching. I think there should be no problems after the official launch. Here is a link to the Android Pay app.

How do I set up my phone?

The process of setting up the phone is simple, just enter the CVV code and that's it - the application will take the rest of the card data from your Google account, if you have previously added a card for purchases on Google Play. If not added, then the process will take a little longer. Open the application, enter the card details: number, owner's name, CVC code. Or use a camera for this, the phone will scan everything itself without unnecessary actions.

You may also need to enter your fingerprint and pin to confirm the action for added security.

You can enter several cards, and when paying, select the one you need in the application.

Do you need to pay for anything else?

No, the service is free, no commissions or subscription fees.

Where can I shop?

In principle, anywhere, as long as the terminals support PayPass and PayWave systems. Bring your phone to the terminal and pay; for purchases under 1000 rubles, a PIN code is not required, but sometimes you need to indicate it or sign the check. If the transaction was successful, you will hear a signal confirming the payment. Then an SMS with the rest of the money on the balance will come, if, of course, such a service is connected.

It is safe?

Yes. During payment, a one-time code is generated, and the data of the card itself is not used. Even if someone intercepts this information, it will not give the attacker anything, useless data.

Opinion

I could not add the Sberbank Master Card, but with VISA Alfa-Bank and Tinkoff everything was fine.

I have been using Apple Pay for a long time, sometimes I also paid through the Tinkoff app on Android phones. Turning your smartphone into a payment system is a great idea, especially when you use it in conjunction with a watch. I put it in and went further, for shopping in stores, the means for an easier parting with finances could not be imagined. The main thing is that the terminals work and everything is set up, otherwise problems sometimes arise, and some establishments in Moscow still work only by cash. It is impossible to completely say goodbye to paper money, but life becomes more convenient, this is a fact.

For shops, tech-savvy people are a godsend. Shoppers are more likely to shop simply because they like a new way to spend their money. This time. The second point - people go through the checkout faster, less hassle, more sales. The third point is reliability, simplicity and mobility.
