Decorative plaster in various techniques

Versailles plaster from ordinary mixtures

How to make decorative plaster with your own hands like the walls in Versal's apartments? It turns out that such an invoice can be achieved using conventional dry starter plaster plaster and finishing putty, which, when mixing and applying, give an attractive texture with light inclusions of the average fraction. This finish requires the use of acrylic varnish, metallized paint and glytter. A detailed master class from the studio "Redecoration" is given in the video at the end of the publication.

Sequence of work on the application of Versailles plaster:

  • plug the perimeter of the future coating with a plaster ribbon;
  • progress the surface of quartz-ground, which will ensure good adhesion and will allow working longer with the model mass. For these purposes, Ceresit "Paint primer for thin layer plaster and paint" is suitable;
  • the model mass for decorative plaster works is mixed with water in proportion of 1: 1 finish putty and starting plaster plaster. The manufacturer of the mixture is not important, but you can use for example a dry mixture G-START and SATENPRO;
  • the mixture is mixed with a mixer twice, for the first time immediately after adding mixtures, the second time after the mass stands for several minutes;
  • the plaster is applied on the wall with a layer of 2-3 mm with a spatula and a celma, making random divorces to create the desired texture, special attention is paid to the corners and space near the ceiling baguette and doors;
  • the model mass is applied with a flat layer on the wall, and then with the help of plastic Kelma, an additional "factory" layer is made, which creates the required volume;
  • after drying the plaster, the resulting irregularities are smoothed and sandwiched with a spatula, painting grater and sandpaper (No. 60), resulting in a beautiful smooth coating with severe, but shallow texture;
  • at the next stage, the primer of deep penetration is applied, dislike all irregularities and avoiding the inclination;
  • after the primer, the surface is painted, it is mixed with white paint with any selected dye, it will take about 2x hours to dry out this layer;
  • the next layer of the wall is painted with a metallized decor, silver is divorced on a primer in a ratio of 1: 1, then with light movements are applied with a foam roller on the first layer of paint, without filling all irregularities (note that there are no traces from the roller);
  • the finishing layer of the surface is made by varnish with the addition of glytter. First, the varnish is diluted with water by 30% to avoid the lacquer "peel" on the finished coating, then the glytter is added at the rate of 1 tsp. per 1 l. During work, the lacquer must be intermedible to "raise" sequins.

Obviously, in such a way you can make plaster in any color with a metallized paint finish of any shade and decorate with a color and monochrome glitter. You can change the maneru of the plaster, creating various textures. Varnish gives the coating fairly high strength and protects the wall from burning into the sun, you can use both frosted and glossy lacquer coating.

Flemish Plaster - Tinted in Mass two-color

Working with Flemish Plaster differs from the above-mentioned Versailles and Venetian method of applying and finishes, it is also made from the usual putty based on the model mass, the recipe of which is given above. Approximate consumption of such plaster - 80 g per 1 square. m.

The key difference of this coating is that the finished decorative putty is tinted in the mass, that is, the dye is added in the plaster finish mixture, and not applied by a separate layer. In the video, the lesson is used yellow-brown and coffee plaster, which is applied with a large spatula on the prepared surface of the movements "from Himself," thus creates a beautiful two-color texture.

At the next stage, the wall smoothly smoothed using a cell or spatula. It does not need to achieve perfect smoothness. The main goal is to mix the plaster of two colors and get an interesting two-color coating.

Flemish plaster is applied in three layers, while the spatulas of different sizes are used, reducing their size from the layer to the layer. On the second and third - you can use a 20-centimeter tool. The subsequent layers are applied in such a way that the texture formed on the wall and irregularities inside smooth surfaces are formed. The size of "islets" will depend on the volume of the mixture used in one cycle of putty. The larger the model mass on the soldier - the topics of the "islands" of a larger size of a smooth surface can be made on the wall. The latter layer can be applied by the Venice Clavma according to the "Press-Free" scheme, in this case there is a different texture.
After applying the plaster, the wall is painted with primer deep penetration. After complete drying, the plastered area is covered with a zone using a cell. The mixture can be prepared according to the following recipe (consumption of 120 g per 1 sq. M. m):

  • glue for flieslinic wallpaper, in divorced according to the instructions form - 2 parts;
  • panel lacquer - 1 part;
  • paint "Silver" - 0.5 parts.

According to its structure, the azure is a conventional wax that covers the plaster as the finish layer. Please note that in the deepening the wax is not completely removed, due to which the texture with sections of varying degrees of silvering is obtained. Instead of silver for the preparation of lazuries, a pearl or gold can be used, which makes it possible to achieve different light effects.
If desired, the wall may be additionally decorated with varnish, which will give strength to the coating. For wet premises, a yacht varnish or waterproof facade plaster can be used.

Prague Plaster

Prague plaster or, as some masters, "Venetian fresco" is called on a pre-toned surface. For this purpose, the facade paint and the color of the desired color is added to the ground. The main task is to simultaneously make the soil to make a colored base layer. When applying the primer layer, it is not necessary to achieve uniform "shellability".

In order to prepare a model mass of decorative Prague plaster, any acrylic putty is used, 1/10 of the sand and a color is added to it (the preliminary consumption of 1.5 kg per 1 sq. M). The first layer of putty is applied by the Venetian Kielma, forming an uneven surface in the form of "islets". Due to the sand, it turns out a more voluminous texture and a rich finish.

The second layer of putty is applied to the wall by the technique of telma. Movements are implied by pressing the cell with a solution to the wall in chaotic order. Please note that the necessary two layers are applied one by one. First, approximately 1 square meters. The surface of the surface and the first layer is applied, then the same area is decorated with the texture method of the torch.

In the same way, the next section is covered with solution. After that, you need to return to the previous site and to invite the plaster "on the tops" with the help of a 20-centimeter spatula, removing the residual solutions from the tool. After five minutes, a finished surface must be prepolyting Venetian Clavma, while not attaching a special effort. The degree of readiness of the coating to this operation can be determined by touching the hand, the putty should not stick to the fingers.

At the final stage, the finished surface is painted after applying a layer of deep primer and its complete drying. For the finishing coating, a special composition of paint based on Venetian plaster, diluted with water (consumption of 150 g per square m). The use of Venetian plaster as paint will result in the result of a more interesting slightly brilliant surface.

At the final stage, the lined surface is covered with special wax for decorative plasters, this is done with a plastic wallpaper. For these purposes, the so-called parmesan azure can be used, which gives a very beautiful effect of noble glitter.

Decorative plaster for finishing facades and fireplaces - finish under stone

The proposed method for decorating surfaces can be applied to finishing facades and fireplace portals, but other mineral fillers are used for these purposes. A good option for choosing the "under the stone" finish can be considered a dolomite plaster, but, unfortunately, its price is high enough to finish the facade.

In order to reduce the cost of the original decorative mixture, the dolomite flour is used, which is added to the Stylor Acrylic Dispersion (UCAR ™ Latex DC 640) for external work, which has a high water-repellent ability, or acrylic putty (Sniezka Acryl-Putz) for internal works. The finished material also contributes the dye, metallized filler, glytter or pearl.

Dolomite putty on the fireplace is needed in two layers, first - with a flat layer of the Great Venetian Colelma, then draw a layer of the surface with the subsequent smoothing by the same cell.

The surface slightly grind the sandpaper No. 150, is ground and further decorated with Venetian plaster. It is applied in diluted water as paint using a conventional roller. After applying, the plaster is polished by Kielma.

Natural stone texture is always featured by brilliant splashes, therefore the surface "Under Dolomite" is also decorated with a coating with a metallized filler. To do this, copper is added to the wax, it is applied along the surface texture, bypassing smooth sections of the facing. At the final stage, the surface is covered with wax without sequins and is polished with soft cell. Two-color plaster "under the stone" can be obtained by the method of Flemish application written above. As can be seen from the examples, make it yourself a decorative stone on any surface is not difficult at all and it will be no expensive, but the effect will exceed all expectations.

Facade decorative plaster

After receiving the experience of applying decorative plaster for internal work, the question arises about the exterior finish. For this purpose, you can use liquid glass with which the waterproof option is made:

  • first, the primer layer is applied using a diluted solution of liquid glass;
  • the model solution of waterproof (hydrophobic) plaster is mixed in the following proportions: A finished solution of a plaster mixture is used in a ratio with a liquid glass 7: 1 or coating 1: 2: 5 of liquid glass, cement and sand.

Different with elasticity and durability. Possessing a low level of moisture absorption, such a mixture is resistant to moisture, as well as to changes in the base. At the same time there are shortcomings:

  • fast flammability;
  • possibility of loss of appearance.

Mineral

The powder mixture of cement implies the need for water dilution. It is easy to apply to the surface. The material is distinguished by strength, moisture resistance, good vapor permeability and the presence of heat-insulating properties. Limit use factors will be:

  • the need to update with frequency times in a decade;
  • weak elasticity;
  • the need for subsequent staining.

Silicate

Most often used as a facade decorative plaster, since its composition includes potash glass, harmful to humans. It is advisable to apply on a mineral mixture or directly to concrete. Advantages include:

  • strength and high elasticity;
  • high drying speed;
  • the ability to clean water;
  • excellent vapor permeability;
  • antibacterial effect;

  • simplicity of application and affordable price.

To create the desired pattern, it is required to prepare a roller with a spatula and armed with a stencil.

Structural

It is proposed to implement the finished material with the basis of an acrylic or silicate type resin. As a filler, a crumb of marble and quartz is used, as a result of which the grain of the structure is ensured.

This is a universal, resistant mechanical effects. Apply decorative plaster with their own hands just enough, as a result, the original relief is formed.

The forming layer is characterized by high parameters of air permeability and moisture resistance. At the same time, fluctuations in temperature do not have a significant impact on quality. To apply material, you need:

By the method of creating textures and patterns distinguish the following types of decorative plasters:

  • structural plaster;
  • venetian;
  • "Stone crumb";
  • flock coating and other varieties.

Of all the types of decorative coverage, this most popular and inexpensive. As a filler, heterogeneous components are used here: pebbles, mineral crumb, mica, wood fibers, flax, cotton. With its help, you can imitate different types of natural materials, such as woody bour or masonry. Such a coating perfectly masks surface defects and looks very interesting and volume. Types of decorative plasters for interior decoration

Before choosing a specific material for wall decoration, you need to understand how it happens. First of all, the decorative plaster for internal works is divided into facade and interior. In the first case, we get a "more rude pattern", which is clearly not suitable for the apartment. Therefore, we will dwell on the interior.

There is also a division on the structural (modeling), textured and Venetian plaster. In the first case, the solution will be evenly applied on the wall to a smooth layer, and then the desired texture and pattern will be created using various tools and techniques. In the second case, there will be special granules in the solution, due to which the texture will be formed. For Venetian, a multiple application of thin layers with sand and polishing to create a marble imitation is characterized. More than three options are described in the chapter on the creation of a textured coating.

Tools

Tools with which wall treatment is carried out, depending on the chosen decorative mixture and application technique. In most cases, there will be sufficiently following tools (stainless steel should be used):

  • Putty knife
  • Trowel
  • Grater
  • Master OK
  • Brush
  • Roller

Preparation of walls - a guarantee of high-quality coverage

Decorative wall plaster is possible only after proper surface preparation. The first step is to clean the wall from all over. It may be an old paint that it is necessary to remove with a spatula or special solvents. It may also be old wallpapers that should be removed completely.

If the pieces of wallpapers remain on the wall and do not move away, they should be moistened with water. They will be thrown back, after which they will be easy to remove with the spatula.

When the wall remains bare after the removal of previous coatings, you should take care of its purity. At this stage, we remove fat stains (if any), dirt and fine dusty crumb. In other words, we remove from the wall all that can interfere with the adhesion of the solution with it. If there is an old plaster on the wall, which keeps not hard, then it should be removed too. Remove the spatula or knock off the hammer. Next, align the wall, making it smooth and smooth. To do this, uses putty.

Now we have a wall, ready for work. In order to improve the enclosure of the solution with the prepared surface, the primer is applied. The manufacturer of plaster always writes on the packaging, which primer is best used with this material. Only after that the finished decorative plaster for the walls can be applied. Of course, the primer must dry (usually 8-24 hours).

It is worth paying special attention to the fact that the wall is made of. To be more accurate, then you need to consider the material on which the solution will be directly applied. Best options are concrete, plasterboard, brick and plaster. It is on these surfaces that a decorative solution is most often applied. By the way, depending on the selected surface, the primer is selected. Sometimes decorative can be successfully applied even on the glass, without moving from it due to a good soil.

Decorative plasterboard plaster is very often applied. The walls are sometimes so curves that they are inappropriate, and they are closed with plates of drywall. There is nothing terrible in this, because the decorative is easy to apply on it. The surface is already smooth, which is a big plus. The most important thing in this situation is to choose the right primer, because it will depend much on it (the adhesion of the solution with the cardboard leaves much to be desired).

Many believe that wooden walls are not covered with solution. This is not the case, you just need to find the right approach. Indeed, the solution on the tree is not applied, because it keeps it very bad on it. However, you can fill the duncan on the wooden wall, creating a crate (grille from the tree strips, with holes in the form of a rhombus). This grille is covered with a solution, which is already applied with decorative plaster. However, this method is taking off its own.

Also for strength to the wooden wall, a metal grid may be nailed (this option is much easier and desirable). Such a mesh is well holding a solution. Then decorative is applied to the plastered surface. As you can see, decorative wood plaster is also possible. However, it is imperative to spend isolation as the grid itself and dowels with brackets that it is attached. If this is not done, over time they will start rust, and the rust will perform on the wall, porting her appearance.

Decorative Stucco Wall Decoration - Video Manual

There are many video materials on the topic of decorative plaster walls. I do not want to overload your attention to dozens of rollers about different coating options, so for an exemplary understanding, how to work with the wall, we suggest you to watch the roller about structural plasters.

If this information is not enough for you enough, you can view another roller affecting many different aspects when working with walls.

Creating a textured coating, we make the right efforts

It's time to learn how to apply decorative plaster on the walls. The texture in most cases is a decisive factor when choosing one or another material. When decorative plaster is used for interior wall decoration, then you need to think about the desired texture. With its creation, a wide variety of tools can participate.

Very simply take a toothed spatula, brush or comb. Conducting these tools for the "raw" coating, we will create a different pattern. Also here can be attributed to the use of a hand, a cellophane package or ordinary sponge. We spend all this or touched not yet dry decorative, forming a variety of texture.

Stamps and special rollers can also be used. Such stamps and rollers already have a specific pattern that will be transmitted to the wall. You can take the most ordinary roller, cover it with a harness, and then create a texture. You can buy a ready-made tool with a picture like. The main thing later is exactly a roller on the wall so that the drawing is uniform. With a stamp is even easier, albeit longer. Just press it to the wall in the desired places. The design of walls with decorative plaster is impossible without creating a decorative effect. But it is achieved not only at the expense of special tools, but also due to the properties and composition of the solution.

The most understandable example will be a croroede. As part of such decorative plaster there are granules, which create texture. By the way, in this case, the wall should be perfectly smooth. Otherwise, the coating will not come out uniform, and somewhere "Coroed" will manifest, and somewhere there are no. The fact is that the thickness of the applied layer of such a solution must correspond to the thickness of the grain used in its composition. Otherwise, the drawing will not work.

This decorative material is based on synthetic polymers and mineral fillers. The latter and are of particular interest, because they help to create a coronaryisticisticistic wall texture. Such fillers include crumb of the following materials:

  1. Marble
  2. Granite
  3. Quartz

By the way, the decorative plaster of the walls with their own hands using this material is the most affordable option for an ordinary person. You need the minimum amount of the tool, because you will need to apply the solution, and then simply rub it with a grater. Yes, and special skills are not required, just evenly rub the solution along the wall.

"Shuba" on the wall - whether it is advisable?

I would like to note the finish "under a fur coil", which is also considered decorative. The technology of decorative plaster walls to create the effect of "fur coat" is very simple. The most common plaster is taken (cement-known) and simply splashes onto the wall. For example, a broom is powered into the solution, which it is transferred to the wall by spray. For this, a broom with a solution on it is brought to the wall and beat them about a stick or hand so that the solution flies directly on the wall. Instead of a broom, a brush can be used to get a smaller pattern if you can call it a pattern.

With this method, it is best to use a pistol for a solution with which it is done on the wall.

In fact, this material has no decorative properties, and the decorativeness of the coating gives the special application technique. It is also desirable and paint everything into beautiful colors to give greater beauty. But in most cases, the "fur coat" is used for facade finish. It is also called decorative plaster on uneven walls, because it allows you to level the surface, since a large amount of solution can be applied to one place.

Work with Venetian Plaster

Since we have discussed the possibility of using textured (requires additional tools for creating an invoice) and structural (relief is created through the use of various granules and additives in the solution itself) plasters, then for the completeness of the picture it is worth considering Venetian.

Can the smooth decorative plaster for the walls without aligning them? In the case of Venetian, the answer will be negative. Therefore, in this case, the wall should not be just perfectly smooth, but also as smooth as smooth as glass. Only then covering the walls with decorative plaster Venetian will give a great effect. The charm of this material is that it is made of marble flour and seems transparent. As a result, the effect of marble walls is created. It is very difficult to work with it, and the problem is not only that careful preparation of walls for decorative plaster is required.

Venetian decorative plaster for interior wall decoration is applied very thin layers, which are usually cored in different shades. Such layers should be somewhat, usually 5-7. The surface grout is carried out with the help of shallow emery paper, it is a kind of grinding. Also, a protective layer of wax, giving the gloss to all coating, is also definitely applied. The decoration of walls with decorative plaster Venetian is a painstaking process. You can spoil the coating with one incorrect movement at any stage of its creation.

Cost of works and price of materials

Decorative stucco wall decoration has its costs. Do you want to find out how much will you cost 1 meter square wall covered with decorative plaster? You will not receive an answer to this question. And the point here is not only that the "Coroed" is worth a penny in comparison with Venetian. Such pleasure as decorative plaster walls too many components, the cost of which fluctuates significantly. Do not think that you buy a bucket with a finished solution and that's all.

Indeed, you need to buy plaster, and travertine, venetian, sugar, rain and other options are different (the manufacturer also plays a role). You will have to pay more for the primer, which is not enough (for each plaster there is its primer). Do not forget that the solution should be poured or painted, and this is money again. All this is included in the price of decorative wall plaster.

Maybe you want a special pattern for which the stamp or a special roller will have to buy? By the way, the working tools also cost money, whether it is cheap Kelma to throw a solution or expensive stencil to create an additional unique pattern. Dear can leave decorative plaster for walls. The price is formed from many components, which was written above. Additional requirements will entail a cost.

Think carefully, and whether it is better to hire someone to work. It will be more expensive than to do it yourself, but also better. Moreover, the employee himself will buy everything, and they don't have to pay for the tool. Of course, if you plan not to just use the decorative plaster for the walls of the bathroom, and walk all over the apartment, that is, it makes sense to save, doing everything yourself. In this case, the purchase of a working tool will be appropriate.

Finish coatings for wall protection

After the end of all works, the walls decorated with decorative plaster will need to be additionally processed. We are talking about an additional finish coating, which is like lacquer, wax or paint. Usually, the protective coating of wax uses for Venetian plaster, but it will also suit other coatings. Approximately the same situation with protective varnish.

Wax and varnish are applied with a sponge (bath or coral). Also for these purposes can be seated with a brush or thread roller. Application and rubbing work end immediately after receiving a homogeneous shade on the entire surface, so as not to spoil our coating on the wall of light drops due to thick layers of the finish coating.

A ready-made coating is used usually in cases where the solution is not entirely applied. Only acrylic water-based acrylic paint is used. Application is carried out in a standard way with a brush or painting roller.

How to remove decorative plaster from the walls

It is not enough to know everything about applying decorative on the walls, because sooner or later it will be tired and wants something new. It will not be superfluous to find out how this material is removed from the wall. The use of chisel and hammer may well be considered the most traditional solution to this problem.

With the help of tools, you need to knock out a small piece of decorative plaster from the wall to get to the base to which it stacked. Having access to the base, put the chisel at an angle to the wall and begin to beat the hammer to remove the layers of plaster. It will have to work for a long time, but this is an effective method. It is clear that the decorative plaster for the interior decoration of the walls is different, but the principle of working on the removal of approximately the same.

Instead of chisel and hammer, you can use a perforator with a nozzle in the form of a blade. With such a tool, work will go faster. However, a hat, headphones and a respirator will be required. The fact is that as a result of this work, a very loud noise will be created and even more dust. So it is better to protect yourself.

In some cases, it is not necessary to disassemble, but it depends on the previously used decorative and the quality of its application. If the coating is reliably and is durable, it is quite possible to work on top of it with new materials. If doubts arise that the old coating may not withstand, it is better to remove it.
