About how to create an interesting transmission of spiritual life and what is good for a Christian in modern television, the author and leading program of Dmitry Mendeleev says.

- Your program is a long-lived. How old is she?

The transfer of the "Bible plot" goes to the screens of nine years. In September we begin the anniversary tenth season.

Ten years ago, religious themes were not yet so popular in the media, as now. Why did you occur to the idea of \u200b\u200bdoing a program about Christianity?

The initiator of the appearance of this transfer was the TV channel "Culture". We all know the works of art, world masterpieces associated with Christianity written in biblical plots, but I don't imagine the very primary item to yourself. Therefore, an idea arose to make some kind of educational program that would explain that we wanted to tell Leonardo da Vinci, Rafael, Pushkin, Lermontov, Pasternak, Tarkovsky. That's how this program was born.

- Your program is still religious or secular?

The program is designed for the widest audience. Of course, it is possible to say that it is for secular people, but after all, church people did not have the opportunity to get information about the lives of the great masters of the past. For 70 years of lack of religious education in Russia, we have forgotten all the most elementary things, without which it is impossible to understand the true works of art. But all the artists their main goal saw the mystery of the mystery of the world, the search for a true meaning of existence - that is, they were looking for God. This is an integral line of real art. In addition, all truly great works that leave a trace in history, in the life of the peoples of the whole world, are created by the Holy Spirit.

I do not agree that there was no. For example, the program "Word of the Shepherd", which Patriarch Kirill led the Patriarch of Kirill, then Metropolitan Smolensk and Kaliningrad. On the 2nd Channel there was a program called "Orthodox calendar", then was "canon" on the 6th Channel. Then the "Orthodox Encyclopedia" appeared on TVC. Almost every Channel had its own Orthodox program. So I can't say that we have appeared in the same place.

I do not think that something has changed significantly in ten years from the point of view of Orthodox television. Perhaps, only the fact that programs have become more - but this is a pleasant tendency.

The qualitative, interesting programs remained about the same amount - they are occupied by a niche that it allows them to occupy teleformed.

Nevertheless, it is often possible to hear the opinion that there are little spiritual and moral on television, including Christian programs, while the number of entertainment transmissions exceeds all reasonable limits. How can you comment on this?

Channel management, where there is an advertisement, of course, cares about the ranking: the higher it is, the more expensive commercial space is. As a result, almost all channels follow the visual mass. And it should be the opposite, of course: television should raise the audience and not forget about those people - attentive, thoughtful, responsive, who need a serious interlocutor. This is the audience let it be small, but very expensive. Of course, the "biblical plot" rating is not compared with the ranking of the popular series, but we have our own visual viewers, and there are quite a lot of them.

So you managed to make a serious one, but at the same time popular program from the viewers. What is your secret? How to make an interesting program about Orthodoxy?

When we started this program, I and my work comrades did only the first steps in the church. I was neophyte - by the way, our television studio is called. We were all neophytes. It helped us very much because neophyticism is such an exalted state as if the first love. Of course, Neophyte may look crazy in the eyes of others, but he focuses inside himself, he has some colossal forces, energy, enthusiasm, and the joy of life. We have all this focus was aimed at creating a transfer. It helped a lot. At that time, the books of two wonderful people influenced my worldview: Metropolitan Anthony Surozhsky and Father Alexander me. I want to give the thought of the father of Alexander: you can paint Madonna, and I will be ashamed to look at her; And you can write a bird in the sky, but so that she screaming about the beauty of God's universe, about the love of God to people, people to God.

I, fortunately, in the "biblical plot" make it possible to work freely. Our video censored video is not exposed, but also the Culp channel, it is necessary to admit it, special. In the process of working on the program, it was possible to create the right microclimate, when me and my colleagues did not drive into an uncomfortable framework - so we had something.

You also "put a hand" to the creation of a well-known cycle of documentaries "Shrine of the Christian World". What was this project, and whether the series would be removed?

This cycle tells exactly the shrines: about the Turin Dospise, the Cross of the Lord, the coffin of the Lord, the Ternist Vental, the Noah's Ark, about the gifts of Magi ... Amazing the fact of what they reached us as, we can say, witnesses of the greatest events of the Holy History. But they also help to fasten the Bible, the Gospel.

Now we are just removing the continuation of the series. In new films, we want to tell about the house of the Blessed Virgin Mary, who is located in Italian Loreto - from where, by the way, the miraculous image of the "addition of the mind" is known to every Orthodox student takes; about the risay of Christ stored in ancient German trira; About the Cross of the Apostle Andrei, about the relics of the Apostle Thomas and St. Nicholas.

- Was the creation of Orthodox programs to your personal insertion?

Of course! And not only my, but also my colleagues and friends! I am infinitely grateful to God for the program "Biblical plot", because, doing it, we are ever increasing in faith. When we study the material from which the program has to be done, we get an infinite number of new knowledge, new sources for reflection, doubt and discoveries. And this is a very interesting and exciting process. And he is endless. Studying the spiritual path of the artist, I open a few more interesting personalities at once and topics. That is why it is unlikely that soon we run out ideas for gears. They are much larger than we are capable of covering. I hope that the spiritual search for artists, about which we tell, can inspire our audience for some moral effort.

- You mentioned people who influence your worldview. Do you have programs about these people?

There is. And about the Lord of Antonia, and the Father Alexandra. The main thing about what we wanted to tell them are their love for God and near. They were amazing people, and after all, they are almost our contemporaries, they managed to be Christians in the world, which we are so well acquainted and which, as we sometimes seem in our laziness, it absolutely does not have any revelations of the Spirit.

I am struck by their preaching and selfless service, they burned like the candle, which in the Gospel says: "No one, burn a candle, does not cover her vessel, or does not put under the bed, but puts on the candlestick so that the incoming seen the light." That's how they shine to all, and we warmed with this warmth.

- And what other church figures interest you as heroes for programs?

We had programs and about the fathers of the Church, and about the Old Testament Prophets: Moses, King David, King Solomon, Isaiah and others. We also spoke about St. John Damaskin, St. Gregory Theologian, John Zlatoust, Vasily Great, about Blessed Augustine.

A man is difficult to burn constantly. Were there any difficulty in your work when I wanted to throw everything and close the program?

Of course, such difficulties were. My biggest enemy is me myself. It is very important for Christian journalism to draw live water from an acute source, which is God. "Saw intelligent, kind, eternal" is simply impossible if you yourself will not try to live in the Gospel. The topic itself imposes very big obligations on a person, and because of the fact that we do not match them, these problems appear. But the work saves, does not allow to die.

Today there are several satellite Orthodox channels, increasingly referring to the creation of the federal church channel. Do you think this is real?

Hard to say. I used to be convinced that such a channel is not needed. Talking about its creation was made and five, and seven years ago. Someone such a channel must contain. But if the state, then the question will rise: why exactly the Orthodox Channel? Then there must be a Muslim channel, and Jewish. In addition, to make such a channel, they needed creative people, and there were no more in sufficient quantities. There was no such large amount of quality Orthodox software for content. It seemed to me that it was much more important that the Orthodox programs were present on federal channels - after all, they should look at everything, and not a limited number of squeezed people. You can do Orthodox television using the resources of large channels. This is actually done.

But now, I think, maybe such a channel is needed, because it has become more competent church people, more became church journalists who would like to work on it. In addition to journalists there are operators, and fashionable women, artists, and directions who are not alien to Orthodoxy and could work on such a TV channel. Many creative people are stuffy on those programs on which they are forced to work. I would love to participate in the creation of the Orthodox TV channel.

But for me, there is a big question that it will be for the channel, who should finance it, will have patrons. Maybe it will be the Board of Trustees, or the Foundation, or something else ... Why am I talking about this first? Because the journalists must be granted great freedom. It can not be amateur, at the level of "something good should be done." If you do it professionally, otherwise it will not look like, and many even get away from Orthodoxy, seeing such a "home video". That is, if we want to talk with a wide audience, we must comply with modern television requirements, and this is a lot of money, and people should work constantly and professionally and get good salary so that you can feed your families. And when it comes to financing, then there is a question of control. The relationship between the author and producer is a very important point. If on the journalist without the end to put pressure, nothing good will fail.

- Do you yourself watch Orthodox programs on TV?

Sometimes I watch such programs on public channels, although I, of course, is not a television in my free time, since this is my work, but for fungi go, for example. I don't have a satellite plate, so I don't look at the Orthodox Channels.

I like the program "Word of the Shepherd" with the participation of Holy Patriarch Kirill. This living conversation, which leads to the spectator of the Patriarch, is always very interesting, and personally, I personally helped me to resolve internal questions that concerned spiritual life. The fact that Patriarch remained TV presenter can be considered a unique phenomenon. And the fact that he directly appeals to the audience is just wonderful.

- What do you miss on our television?

In my opinion, there are many unused resources for sermons. For example, it would be possible to create an excellent program like "Traveler Club" - but show not beaches and tourist services, but the beauty of God's world, temples and monasteries, pilgrimage routes. You can make films and programs about the church history, about the lives of people.

Now the live man has almost gone from the screen, and this is a real trouble. From the program to the program we see the same faces. Remember, the program "Interspit" recently went out, where Mom P. Lungina talked about his life? There were no modern television technologies there, but the country did not leave the screens, because the living person is always interesting.

- What awaits us in the anniversary season of the "biblical plot"?

We will continue to tell about artists, writers, poets and musicians. As for the nearest programs, Henry Heine and other great masters will be their characters. Heinrich Heine at the end of life, when he seriously fell ill, the wonderful books of repeated poems came out - we will tell this story.

Another transmission will be devoted to Samuel Morse - the inventor of the famous ABC. He has been tormented by spiritual quest for many years. - Who would you still want to see the hero of his transfer?
