- The "Garden of Faoh's Garden Center" is included in the Association of Planting Material Manufacturers (APPM). What is the Association? What is its mission?

The Association of Planting Materials is a non-profit organization established in 2008 on the initiative of owners of private Russian plant nurseries and defending the interests of domestic nursery. To date, the APPM includes 190 members: 129Russian nursery from 36 constituent entities of the Russian Federation, as well as nurseries of Belarus - 5, Kazakhstan - 4, Ukraine - 1, and 51 organizations whose activities are directly with nursery - Garden centers, profile training and research institutions, suppliers Materials and equipment for nurseries, suppliers of specialized equipment, agrochemical products, seed providers. The main tasks of the Association are the exchange of information between nurseries, the introduction of modern planting material production technologies, promotion of industry standards, publication of plant catalogs, organization of trips to exchange experiences in Russian and foreign nurseries, international cooperation. In 2017, the tenth anniversary conference was held, which gathered almost 800 delegates from Russia, Kazakhstan, Ukraine, Belarus, Poland, Germany, Holland, Belgium, France and Italy. In the Association, seven members of the Board, which are chosen by general voting. Last year I was a member of the Board, this took a self-deduction, because a lot of work, and we decided to take the next step in our nursery. But this does not mean that I do not continue to work in the Association. At the conference in Moscow, I made a presentation on the creation of a garden center from scratch. Experts and nurseries who have already achieved a certain level in their business are ready to share experiences. This is the most valuable. We have already received a work plan for this year.

- What did the Association achieved for 10 years?

Ten years ago, industry professionals were only planned to unite. At the first conference there were 100 people. After ten years, 800 specialists have already accepted participation. If people were not interested, they would not come. The Association has developed very detailed standards for planting materials of decorative fruit plants recommended in Russia. Prior to that, everyone used the standards of the 50-60s. Of course, new standards are not generally accepted, there are no them in the registry. But they are recommended by the APPM. A nursery that enters the association must comply with these standards. Such plants will definitely be good and high quality.

- What are your plans for your garden center for 2017?

In 2017, we decided to master our untreated land, it is about 10 hectares. Any enterprise we begin with fence, roads, lighting, wells, watering systems. Everything will be done according to the latest technologies. First of all, we want to grow fast-growing shrubs that are in demand in our conditions. The largest garden center has already been operating in the region, which we opened in 2013 in Kurumoch. In 2016, another garden center launched, and we will expand it three times this season. The southern direction of the Samara region seems very interesting. The existing territory did not allow the opportunity to put the entire range in full so that people through the whole city did not go beyond plants. The range of plants every year is chosen very carefully. In the fall of 2016, we already sold part of our products - fruit seedlings, raspberries, hydrangea. Every year the range of plants and their number will only increase. Every year we produce a bulk price list with photos and all that we offer this season. In 2017, we decided to focus on hydrangea. On their own, they released a special catalog of hydrangeas in 1000 copies, which contains a description of all 63 varieties. This plant is becoming increasingly popular because it starts to bloom in June and finishes deep in autumn. The garden and space is constantly transformed, because hydrangea changes color. Soon, another catalog of our landscape works will be released.

At the end of 2016, together with the GK "Amond", work began in an interesting project Ekograd Volgar - this is a modern social infrastructure: kindergartens, school, clinic, shopping and office centers, fitness and wellness and ethnographic complex, embankments and parks. - How is the situation with import-substitution in the industry?

Plants in our garden center are represented from 25 European and 15 Russian nurseries. After 3-5 years, Russian production plants can safely claim the market share of 50%. And the technique that we need, unfortunately, is not yet produced in Russia. The capacity of the living product market is about 200 billion rubles. The proportion of costs of open soil plants from Europe is 70%. This money could be used to develop planting material in Russia.

- How acute is the personnel question for the industry?

There is a huge shortage of specialists in this direction. Almost no one is preparing them. All people who come to us, we are forced to teach. A person who claims the position of the seller, absolutely does not know the plants. I believe that let people do not know, but at least love the plants and want to do them. This is not bad.

- How are relationships with consumers build up in the garden center?

At the end of each year, we analyze the winter hardiness and survival rate of plants. We have established feedback with buyers and it is very important for us to have good, high-quality plants.

For the second year in a row, we grow to the International Women's Day of Tulips in Samara. This year there will be about 60 thousand tulips grown in the territory of the colony of strict regime number 10.
