For a long time Ivanovo remained a small remote village, lived a quiet provincial life. Until the thirteen-year war on May 16, 1657, the Cossacks captured the place, who, after prolonged torture, killed here the Catholic missionary Andrey Bobolya, who is now a saint.

Until 1795, as part of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania and the Commonwealth, after Ivanovo, it turns out to be part of Russian Empire, where it entered the Kobrin district of the Grodno province. In 1884, next to Ivanovo passes Railway owing to which the development and growth of the town is accelerated many times over. In 1971 Ivanovo acquires the status of a city. 26 years after the end of the war, asphalt on the roads and street lighting appeared in the city. Massive residential areas are being built for meliorators and new factory workers (within such cities, of course). New businesses are emerging. By 1991, about 14.5 thousand people lived in the city.
