I use all of these techniques alternately, depending on the situation. Which one to use depends on the question, and this is always decided intuitively. You can use all of them, or you can choose one or two and constantly improve in them.

The third option for installing lighting equipment is totems. A totem is a vertical aluminum truss standing on a square steel base 80x80 cm in size. Usually a Moving Head light is placed on the totem, which shines above the hall at a distance of two to three meters from the floor, thereby taking up a minimum amount of space in the hall and fully ensuring its functionality. Also totems are used as stands for, video projectors, DJ sets and other equipment. The height of the totem can be different - from one meter to three or even four meters. But still the two-meter version is optimal for most events.

Design function of totems

It should be noted that the farm itself is a decorative piece of furniture. Designers and decorators have long paid attention to the graceful appearance of these aluminum structures, which look great both in expensive classic interiors and in high-tech installations. The totem looks especially relevant if it is illuminated from the inside with a searchlight and decorated with a white cloth. For indoor lighting we use compact bright 60W floodlights - Ross LED Flat PAR RGBW 6x10W. The farm, illuminated from the inside, looks much more spectacular.

Totems are a good alternative to light poles. Recently, totems are often used instead of a rack for lighting equipment, because the rack can hardly be called an interior item. In addition, compared to the elevator post, the carrying capacity of the totem is undoubtedly dozens of times higher, which opens up new opportunities for events. So, we compared the 3 main types of light stands - T-stands, U-stands and totems. Of course, these are not all types of installation of lighting equipment. You can, for example, put light heads on sound portals. For these purposes, a 6 kW sound set is ideal, consisting of two subwoofers and two large satellites, on which a pair of heads are placed. It is also a popular option when the heads are placed on their own wardrobe trunks. It looks very impressive, besides, you do not need to pay extra for it. Or there are situations where the heads are simply placed on the floor. Usually this is backlight from the stage, hitting the audience. However, in this case, the lighting devices must be at a safe distance from the artists.

In general, the taste and color. Our opinion is the following - for an optimal light picture, it is not necessary to choose only one of the listed options for hanging the lighting equipment. The best way is a combination of options, in which there will be several types of arrangement of devices on the site. For example, let's imagine that we have a platform for 150-200 people, a stage podium and 8-12 heads and 20 LED PAR projectors are prescribed in the budget. The stage plan for such an event can be something like this: 2 heads stand on sound portals at the edges of the stage, 2-4 heads and 20 spotlights hang on a U-shaped truss in front of the stage, on the stage itself 2 heads stand on cases, 2 counter heads on the floor near the backdrop and 2 on totems along the edges of the backdrop. It is also optimal to arrange 2-4 totems or T-shaped posts with heads around the hall. With such a competent arrangement and the presence of an experienced light operator, it is possible to make a real light show, since the rays from a correctly distributed light will hit from everywhere, and not from one specific point.
