The cyclone is a specialized air-cleaning (although such aggregates are also used as chips, sawdust and other means to remove waste).

As air cleaners, industrial designs of cyclones should provide suction and dusting with efficiency not less than 85 ... 90%, during the dusting of fragments with dimensions of at least 10 ... 12 μm. Operational requirements for cyclones include the following parameters:

  1. permissible dispersion of particles that enter the cyclone, microns.
  2. the effectiveness of the process, which is expressed in the limiting weight concentration of particles after dusting, in g / mm 3;
  3. cyclone performance, in m 3 / h;
  4. the boundary temperature of the air or gas entering the cyclone flue (more characteristic of gas cleaning systems than dust) - usually up to 400 ... 600 ° C;
  5. the inner diameter of the cyclone, mm.

In addition to purely constructive requirements, the conditions for high-quality installation of aircraft are also presented. For example, when the gaps are exceeded in air duct connections, the air frequency is often occurring, in which the productivity of the separation of dust from the air decreases sharply. The permissible size of the supply should not be more than 6 ... 8%.

Cyclones perform not only the removal of dust from the ambient air, but can also provide clean air to the room.

Construction of household cyclone

There are no universal cyclones to perform various cleaning operations. For example, the chips should have the increased strength of the pipe walls, which will prevent premature wear. Regarding the cyclone intended for collecting and removing sawdust, it is important to provide for minimal losses in suction air ducts. Providing a cyclone for the purpose of purification of air from cement dust arising in construction work, special attention is paid to the design of filters.

In domestic conditions, cyclones purifying air from large dust are considered the most universal. By changing the design of filters, such devices can be made for the purposes of dusting, as a chips, for cleaning air from sawdust in the woodworking workshop (for example, in the acting panel).

Composite parts of such an aggregate are:

  • the case - includes the conical and cylindrical parts, and the form of the conical part has a predominant effect on the quality of the process;
  • the nozzle is one or more, where the original contaminated air comes;
  • exhaust pipe intended for removal of air purified from dust;
  • input filter (or their system) as a chippet cover;
  • receiving bucket;
  • drive electric motor;
  • fan.

Choosing an electric motor

Since the homemade cyclone is installed in the workshop, the main parameter of the engine is its power and the number of rotor revolutions. If there is a fan, the engine power does not matter much, since dust particles are still in a working machine, sawmill, etc. You will not fall. Nevertheless, the power and diameter of the cyclone snail must be interconnected. With the diameter of the snail wheel up to 300 ... 350 mm, it is quite high-breeding (required!) Engine to 1.5 kW. With smaller diameters, the power may be lower, but the purification performance will decrease. Therefore, if there is a metalworking machine in the workshop, an engine is received from 1 kW.

The power of the electric motor increases significantly if it is planned to arrange a self-made device outside the room. Production of cyclone elements

  • a set of hoses from a translucent corrugated material (this will make it easier for visual control over dust inside particles). For chips, it is practical than rubber hoses;

  3. A centrifugal filter of dry cleaning type "cyclone". It is a compromise at the cost and quality of cleaning in comparison with the membrane and water filter. On this model, we will stop more.

Principle of operation of cyclone
