All kinds of balconies in private. How to make a balcony with your own hands: several ways to make a balcony beautiful in an apartment. What should be the balcony, where to place it

The need for independent construction of a balcony often arises among the owners of private houses or residents of apartments in which the presence of such a room was not initially provided for by the design.

With the work of erecting and finishing the balcony, you can handle it on your own. Read the instructions in this guide and get started.

Construction options

There are 2 main options for building a balcony, namely:

If the structure is attached to the second and higher floors, it must have additional supports. It is forbidden to fix the building exclusively to the wall - it will not stand.

The function of the supports is most often performed by columns. They fit well into the environment and complement the architecture of the house.

Before starting work, draw up or order a balcony project with a detailed diagram from a specialized organization.

Building a balcony on a foundation

If the balcony is attached to the first floor, a simple strip base will suffice. In the case of arranging an extension on the higher floors, build.

In general, the procedure for arranging concrete foundations remains almost the same. The following is an instruction for the construction of a strip-column foundation. By removing recommendations for installing poles from the manual, you will receive ready-made instructions for installing the strip base.

First step. Mark the future foundation on the ground. For marking, use pegs and a cord.

Second step. Get rid of the top layer of soil. Dig a trench to the required depth (determined according to local soil conditions) and post holes.

Third step. Drive in (screw in) the supporting piles. Also, supports can be made independently from pipes, concrete pillars or other suitable materials. To ensure additional strength of the installation, before installing the pillars, the bottom of the pits can be poured with a 20-30 cm layer of concrete. The empty space between the walls of the pits and the pillars after their installation is also filled with mortar.

Fourth step. Tamp the bottom of the trench, cover it with a 10 cm layer of gravel and a 15-20 cm layer of sand. Tamp each layer of backfill carefully.

Fifth step. Assemble the formwork from durable boards.

Sixth step. Lay the reinforcing frame. Use rebar with a diameter of 10-14 mm. As a result, you should get a reinforcing mesh with a mesh size of no more than 150x150 mm.

Seventh step. Pour concrete and give it a month to set. The formwork is recommended to be dismantled after the concrete has completely cured.

Eighth step. Cover the frozen foundation with waterproofing material (bitumen, roofing material).

Ninth step. Fill all voids with earth.

Tenth step. Tie the posts along the upper edges with a channel. The height of the foundations of the balcony must match.

Balcony design

First step. Lay a wooden or reinforced concrete slab on the finished base.

Second step. Using a perforator, create an opening in the wall for mounting a balcony block.

Third step. Install a balcony block. After installation, level the slopes with cement mortar and seal the existing gaps with mounting foam.

Fourth step. . For this, it is most convenient to use building blocks, for example, from foam concrete. They have a relatively small weight and will exert a noticeably lower load on the foundation compared to the same brick.

The thickness of the walls should be at least 25-30 cm. Bring the walls to the upper ceiling.

In the process of building walls, perform reinforcement every 3 rows.

In conclusion, it remains to equip the roof. The roof structure must be made with a certain slope in the direction from the house.

To equip the roof, it is enough to lay wooden logs or mount a metal frame, and then lay the finishing roofing material.

With the functions of the supporting columns, a square wooden beam will perfectly cope. Select the parameters of the beam individually. Most often, supports with a side of 100 mm are sufficient. Instead of timber, you can use another suitable material at your discretion.

The columns must be installed strictly vertically, otherwise there will be no question of the reliability of the balcony structure. To ensure verticality, support the columns with temporary braces while the foundation dries.

Floor

Lay a planed board 4 cm thick on the floor. Pre-treat the material with an antiseptic and fire retardant.

Lay the boards across the support beams. Leave a 2-3 mm gap between the boards to divert precipitation.

Use self-tapping screws to fasten the boards. Fastener heads should be slightly sunk into the material.

railing

And the last structural element of the balcony is the railing. The choice of material of manufacture, design features and appearance of the railing is at the discretion of the owner. If you wish, you can do without them altogether by making fences of suitable sizes from concrete slabs.

Glazing

For you can use wooden frames or metal-plastic structures. At this point, everything also remains at the discretion of the owner.

Balcony insulation

Necessarily . Start from the floor.

Floor

Styrofoam boards are well suited for the floor. The material is characterized by high thermal insulation properties and normally tolerates various kinds of loads.

Align the base and glue the foam boards to it using a binder specially designed for this purpose. Provide additional fixation of the plates with plastic dowels.

On top of the insulation, lay the mounting grid on the glue, and then fill the entire structure with a self-leveling mixture.

Instead, you can make a wooden crate on the base, fill its voids with thermal insulation, and stuff plywood or boards on top.

Linoleum is well suited as a finishing floor covering for a balcony. You can also use waterproof laminate and other materials with similar properties.

Walls

Attach a frame of wooden slats to the walls. Determine the mounting step of the rails according to the width of the insulation.

Cover the frame with waterproofing film. Use a construction stapler to attach the film. Be sure to glue the joints of the waterproofing material with adhesive tape.

Fill the cells of the crate with the selected one. Lay a vapor barrier over the insulation. Fasten the material also using a construction stapler.

On top of the finished insulating cake, fill the second crate, perpendicular to the first, for mounting the finishing material.

Ceiling

The ceiling can be insulated with mineral wool.

Nail a crate of boards with a thickness of 10 mm to the ceiling. Fix the boards with the edge down.

Fill the gaps between the boards with insulation.

Cover the insulation with waterproofing material and nail additional cross rails to the boards. They will retain heat and moisture insulation, as well as provide the necessary ventilation gap between the insulating cake and the finishing material.

insulation

Lining is well suited for a balcony. The material has excellent properties and is easily attached to the crate with the help of clamps.

Exterior decoration of the structure is most often performed using siding. This material is characterized by high reliability and excellent performance, has an attractive appearance and is easy to install without the involvement of third-party installers.

In general, when choosing a finish, focus on your personal preferences and available budget.

The balcony is not only a decorative decoration, but also a place where you can relax, smoke, relax with friends or family. In urban buildings, such structures are found almost constantly, but in summer cottages, not everyone wants to spend time and money on its construction. A balcony in a private house will allow you to diversify the design of the entire territory, its construction is not particularly difficult, but it has a number of nuances that you will definitely need to take into account.

Pros and cons of building a balcony

The possibility of erecting such a structure is available only if the house already has at least 2 floors, including an attic. Building a balcony in a private house has a number of undeniable advantages. These include:

  1. Often, such an extension can be a great place for entertainment and relaxation, but it can also be used to expand the space.
  2. The original design of the balcony can greatly decorate the appearance of the whole house and site. There are a huge number of design solutions, so that the developer will be able to choose the most suitable option.
  3. Quite often, such structures can not only be used to expand the space, but also fulfill the purpose of the roof of the attic or porch, being some protection for them.
  4. The arrangement of the balcony will allow you to create an emergency emergency exit, which can be useful in case of an emergency.

However, the construction of a balcony in a private house has its weaknesses. Among them are:

  1. The construction of such a structure should be included in the project plan when building the private house itself. An extension to an already built house will be quite expensive, and the work will be extremely laborious.
  2. Before proceeding with the construction procedures, you will need to make detailed calculations. It is better to entrust such work to professionals, they will be able to accurately calculate the dimensions of the extension and the amount of materials needed for this. Balconies are rather dangerous structures, and their erection without calculations can cause severe complications.
  3. Installing a balcony door can lead to a large heat dissipation of the entire house. This disadvantage is quite common in cantilever structures. It will be possible to avoid heat loss by building on independent supports.
  4. It is necessary to carefully study the need for such an extension, since often a balcony in a private house can become useless.

If the choice is made in favor of building a balcony, ideas for its interior design can be seen in this video:

Types of balconies

The construction and design of such a structure can vary quite a lot. It all depends on the type, cladding and material of the house itself. It is extremely important that the style of the balcony does not stand out against the backdrop of a private building. The most common options are:

  • Concrete based balconies.
  • Wooden structures.
  • Forged.

Concrete balconies

On our site you can find contacts of construction companies that offer house design services. You can directly communicate with representatives by visiting the exhibition of houses "Low-Rise Country".

A fairly common solution is a construction with a concrete floor. It has a number of nuances:

  1. The load-bearing structures of one side must be attached to the wall of the building. Their connection is carried out by electric welding with pre-installed anchors. The strength of the entire structure will depend on the thickness of the surfaces. If the walls of the building, which should distribute the load, are not strong enough, you will need to build spare supports.
  2. The depth and reach of the structure should not exceed 1 m.
  3. In brick-based houses, slabs are built into the bearing surface for the entire length. They are connected to the reinforcement of the jumper by welding.
  4. The top level of the main carrier plate should therefore be approximately 100 mm below the level of the floor surface.
  5. The floor of the balcony should have a slope of 2% from the main building.
  6. The concrete slab must be treated with waterproofing materials. To do this, a special protective material is being installed on it, on which a solution based on sand and cement will be poured in the future.
  7. The parapet parts of the extension must be at least 1 m. For this, metal gratings based on handrails and racks can be used. The rack is mounted by electric welding to the embedded materials of the plate, and the edges of the product are immersed in the bearing surface of the house.
  8. The threshold for the doorway should be set 100 mm above the floor surface.

wooden structures

An open balcony in a private wood-based house is also quite popular. The nuances of its arrangement include:

  1. The bearing products of such structures are beams. For their production, wooden panels with a cross section of 10 by 20 cm are used.
  2. With a minimum depth of 25 cm, the board is attached to the bearing surface and treated with solutions to protect against moisture or lined with similar materials. The interval between the beams should be 80 cm.
  3. The beams are fastened with the help of corners or strips of steel.
  4. Wooden racks 4 by 10 cm are attached to the beams.
  5. After that, longitudinal ones with a size of 5 by 10 cm are also attached above the console panels. The interval between them should be 30-40 cm.
  6. To ensure increased rigidity, grooves about 3 cm deep are installed at the junction of the longitudinal and cantilever panels.
  7. The floor is also spread using boards 4 cm thick.
  8. The partition must be erected from panels with a section of 3 by 13 cm. They are attached to the racks with screws or nails.
  9. A wooden handrail should have a section of 4 by 9 cm. It is fastened with nails to the uprights and installed in the supporting structure.
  10. All components of the balcony must be treated with a hydrophobic solution or oil, this will provide them with protection from decay and deformation. Fences and handrails should be additionally lined with a frost-resistant compound in several layers.

Forged structures

Source art-kov.ru

This type of balcony has an attractive appearance. Its construction has the following nuances:

  1. The forged extension should not be larger than the size of the slab and the opening, this will allow you to refuse to cut the lattice. Minor reductions would be welcome.
  2. When installing such a structure, it is necessary to take into account the condition of the plate, since metal materials will exert a large load. The surface of the base must be smooth without significant irregularities and damage.
  3. To restore the quality of the slab, it will be necessary to process the mortgages, to which a decorative grille will be attached during installation.
  4. To restore the reinforcement of the coating, the first layer of finish is removed from it up to the base.
  5. If the slab is broken or deformed along the edges, the frame must be welded in such a way that it is possible to pour the cement mortar without changing its shape. The frame is welded with metal.
  6. Iron mortgages are attached to the attached sections of the frame. They will help with the installation of the partition.
  7. After all the elements are welded, the formwork is installed and the slab is poured.
  8. The grate should be installed only after the cement mixture has completely cured. The same applies to other building procedures. The time of complete solidification will be about a month.
  9. If the slab has some damage, you should not use a composition based on cement and sand for its restoration, as it will fall off quite quickly.
  10. To repair minor cracks, tile adhesive is added to the composition in an amount equal to cement. If the applied layer is no more than 20 mm, only glue can be used.

How to build a balcony on the second floor of a private house of this type? This design is a fully glazed extension with tinted or clear windows. Toning is carried out using a special film, which is applied partially or completely. The features of the installation of such a balcony include:

  1. Anchors are attached to the boxes at intervals of no more than 80 cm.
  2. The connection line of the block and the opening must be processed with a well-compressed dense tape, then you can mount the outermost block on the supports.
  3. Another one is attached to the mounted block and connected with screws spaced at 40 cm intervals.
  4. After that, the assembled components are aligned and attached using dowels-nails.
  5. The resulting empty space is sealed with a mounting mixture.
  6. The remains of the mounting solution are removed, then the surface is covered with a vapor barrier tape.
  7. The final procedure will be the installation of handles and facing the slopes with plaster.

An extension with a visor can be attributed to a separate category. For its arrangement, you need to use profile pipes that will be used to assemble the frame, and roofing materials.

Often, sheds are built from slate, ondulin, polycarbonate or metal tiles. The best solution is to use polycarbonate. It is easy to install, absorbs noise well, has a long service life and is protected from the harmful effects of sunlight. Slate and ondulin have a lot of weight, and their installation is rather complicated.

There are the following types of visors:

  • Shed. The simplest and most economical solution. A uniform angle of inclination is obtained using triangular-shaped brackets, on which the roof is mounted.
  • Gable. A more complex variety in the form of a gable roof will be an excellent solution for a corner balcony or loggia. Such a canopy will be more protected from various precipitation and eliminate the problem of snow accumulation.
  • Visor "Marquise". The advantage of this type is the impossibility of accumulating icicles and snow in the cold season.
  • Dome. Not a very common solution, since its construction will require a lot of time and money. The advantage is an attractive appearance that can decorate any suburban area.
  • Arched. Differs in simplicity in use and ease of installation. It also has a rather attractive design and expanded functionality during operation.

Canopy installation process

To install the visor, you will need the following tools:

  1. Welding equipment for forming a canopy.
  2. Perforator.
  3. Screwdriver.
  4. Level and measuring pencil.
  5. A hammer.

Installation consists of the following steps:

  1. First of all, the exact marking of the fastening of the supporting frame is applied, and the places for making holes for the dowels are also determined. The exact line and level of placement of the extension is set.
  2. Using a drill, holes are made to install the frame dowels.
  3. The frame is fixed. The anchors are clamped and tightened with appropriate size wrenches.
  4. Stiffening ribs from a similar profile pipe are placed between the supporting elements of the frame. They can be welded or attached with a bolt tie.
  5. This stage provides for an already installed base, it remains only to install the roof. The roof is attached to the stiffeners with self-drilling screws.

Arrangement of a balcony in the roof

Such structures are of 3 varieties:

  • Fronton. This view is protruding and in-depth, in the form of a small terrace.
  • Roofing.
  • Windows-balconies.

All these types differ in properties and installation methods.

The creation of a gable structure has the following nuances:

  1. One of the fronts should be equipped lower, based on the planned width of the structure. A hanging truss system is used for roof cladding.
  2. The slab between the lower floor and the future balcony is lined with insulation and waterproofing.
  3. After that, the installation of the partition is carried out. The material used for such an element can vary quite a lot.
  4. The wall separating the balcony should not be too thick.

Source deko.access.ly

The window-balcony also has its own design features. These include:

  1. This view consists of an upper and lower sash. The lower part will fulfill the purpose of the railing, and the upper part will serve as a canopy.
  2. The hinges will allow you to fix the lower sash in the selected position or gently move it.
  3. In the open state, this design creates handrails.

Outcome

Installing a balcony in private buildings is a good solution. Residents will feel the shortage of this room very quickly, especially if they previously lived in a house or apartment with a balcony. But such construction procedures require experience and certain knowledge, therefore, both at the planning stage and at the construction stage, it is worth using the help of specialists. First of all, for the sake of security. With regard to functionality and design, a large number of designs and projects of such extensions will allow you to choose the most suitable solution.

Although the balcony is not an indispensable element for suburban real estate, most people dream of decorating their home with it. Its presence gives the whole structure a zest, and also performs many functions. It can be made in the form of a small balcony or in the form of a spacious terrace, on which furniture for relaxation is exposed. Without designing it at the initial stage of building a house, many in the future begin to attach it to an already finished house. One of these methods is the arrangement of a balcony on the roof of the veranda.

Why build balconies in country houses

Modern balconies can perform many functions, but regardless of their purpose, their main feature is considered to be unity with nature.

  • As a recreation area, hidden from the eyes of neighbors. On the balcony you can sunbathe in seclusion or have a cup of coffee in home clothes;

  • if the country house is not located on a horticultural array, but has a beautiful view of nature, then it is pleasant to enjoy panoramic views from the balcony;
  • when equipping the bedroom with a balcony, more sunlight will penetrate into it. And having an additional exit, the room becomes romantic;

  • from a practical point of view, a balcony is a way to expand the usable area of a country house without the cost of a foundation;
  • important is the fact that the balcony plays an important role in the architecture of the facade, making it more refined and decorative.

Balcony location

Most often, guided by the decorativeness of the balcony, they decorate the facade of the building directed to the street. But this is far from the best option for its location. For a good rest, it should be possible to retire and hide from the prying eyes of neighbors. Therefore, it should be placed on the back of the house and overlooking the beautiful landscape.

The negative aspects of building a balcony in a country house:

  • the total cost of building a house will be much higher;
  • the presence of a balcony will invariably lead, albeit to insignificant, but quite tangible heat losses;
  • the design of the balcony is quite complicated, which means that it is not easy to perform all the work qualitatively.

Tip: before you make a balcony above the veranda, think about whether it is really needed? After all, first of all, it should be functional, and not just be an ornament to the facade of the house. Therefore, if there is no urgent need, it is better to refuse it.

The nuances of building a veranda with a balcony

  • The veranda can be attached both to a house that has stood for many years, and to a new building;
  • it is realistic to equip a balcony above the veranda even if beams were not provided for it;
  • the type of foundation for a veranda with a balcony will depend on the final weight of the building and on the characteristics of the soil;
  • supporting columns also depend on the size and weight of the balcony, and are made of brick, reinforced concrete or wood;
  • the overlap between the veranda and the balcony is made of corrugated board, metal tiles or any other roofing material and rests on wooden beams located on columns.

Do-it-yourself veranda with a balcony

For a country house, it is quite possible to build an inexpensive veranda and equip a balcony on its roof. For the price, the entire structure will be comparable to the construction of a gazebo, but at the same time have great functionality.

For construction you will need:

  • for the frame, a beam with a section of 10x10 cm and a length of 4 m is used;
  • for equipping a floor and roof log, a beam with a section of 10x50 cm and a length of 4 m is suitable;
  • a 4 cm thick edged board is suitable for flooring;
  • railings are made of a wooden bar 5x5 cm;
  • slate, metal tile or ondulin is used as a roofing material;
  • cement;
  • protective composition for wooden structural elements.

Construction stages

  • The veranda with a balcony is made of light wood, so the foundation is made columnar. To mark it, you will need a rope and pegs;
  • markings for corner supports are applied at a distance of 3 meters from the main foundation, and between the pillars along the walls, the step should be no more than 1.2 m. Do not forget about the mandatory gap between the old and new foundation of 2-3 cm;
  • when the markings are completely applied, holes are dug 40x40 cm in size and 50 cm deep. A formwork of boards 40 cm high is installed on top of them;
  • a sand or gravel cushion 15 cm thick is poured at the bottom of the pit, metal or fiberglass reinforcement is installed and the entire structure is poured with concrete to the desired height;
  • after drying, which takes a couple of days, the formwork is removed, and the resulting reinforced concrete support is covered with waterproofing, such as a primer;
  • now begins the assembly of the frame of the veranda. First of all, timber or boards are laid on top of the foundation, on which wooden wall racks will be installed. They are attached to anchor bolts;

  • after installing the lower trim, the racks are mounted. For extra strength, they are attached to metal corners;

  • then the installation of the upper trim and rafters begins, which are mounted on the racks using self-tapping screws or nails. At the same time, the slope of the roof is made small, a 15-20 cm difference in level is enough;

  • to attach the rafters, you will need to make a run. This is a horizontal beam that is attached to the wall of the house with anchor bolts. Here it is especially important to achieve a high-quality and tight connection of the roof of the veranda with the wall of the house;
  • roofing material is laid on the finished rafters, but not nailed. This is necessary in order to mark and cut holes for the balcony posts;

  • the height for the balcony railing for safety reasons must be at least 90 cm;
  • now it is possible to fix the roofing material, and for waterproofing the joining of the balcony and roof railings, the columns are wrapped with a strip of roofing material 20 cm thick. Additionally, all cracks are covered with sealant or tar;

  • then logs for the balcony floor are attached to the installed railings. Each of them must be leveled. Floorboards are laid on top;
  • it remains to nail the handrails to the railing and additionally process all the wooden elements of the balcony with a protective compound.

A little more about balcony railings for a country house

The cheapest and most common material for the manufacture of railings is wood. But to create a more sophisticated facade, forged or twisted metal is often used. It is permissible to place railing elements not only vertically, but also horizontally, while maintaining a safe distance.

The railing is an important component of the balcony design, which has special requirements:

  • the optimal height of the railing is 90-110 cm;
  • the distance between the fencing posts is allowed no wider than 10-12 cm;
  • handrails must be smooth;
  • the fence must withstand a load of at least 100 kg/m.

Houses with a veranda and a balcony photo

To protect the balcony area from snow and rain, a canopy is equipped. Often, the main roof is used for this by lengthening the ridge or rafter legs.

The veranda under the balcony can be glazed or open. The panoramic glazing of the veranda looks especially beautiful in combination with a modern balcony railing.

Private houses, which were built by the owner himself, surprise with unusual projects and designs, made to last, for themselves. Quite often, in this case, the question arises of adding a balcony with your own hands. How to do it efficiently and beautifully - you can consider in the instructions below.

Advantages and disadvantages of construction

The advantages include the following:

  • It is possible to add a balcony to a private house only if the house has already built at least two floors, including the attic. Most often, this extension serves for entertainment and recreation, although some homeowners are also thinking about expanding an existing space.
  • Beautiful types of outbuildings, the design of which is made with taste, create a presentable look and serve as decoration for private houses.
  • In many cases, such extensions serve not only as a way to expand the space of the house, but also serve as a roof, terrace or porch, serving as a foundation for them.
  • You create an additional emergency exit that will be useful to you and your family in case of an emergency.

However, there are also a number of disadvantages:

  • Financing the construction of a balcony is best taken into account immediately, when planning and building a house. Adding to an existing building can be very costly and complex in terms of construction work.
  • Before you undertake the construction of a new building, accurate calculations are necessary. For this, it is recommended to contact specialists who will study your issue in detail and calculate the required number of suitable materials, as well as draw up an individual project. Balconies are extensions with increased danger, construction at random usually ends in an accident.
  • The presence of a balcony door can cause large heat loss, this problem is very common in cantilever structures. The construction on independent supports will help you to exclude the release of heat.
  • Carefully study the question of the rationality of these works. Building in the wrong place for your needs may end up being useless.

you can build

The design and appearance of a new building largely depend on what kind and finish the house has, as well as on the material from which it is made. An important condition is the harmonious selection of the type of balcony in such a style that it does not stand out in design from the general image of the building.

Concrete balconies

The most common option with a concrete floor. There are several features:

  • The load-bearing elements of one of the sides are fixed in the wall of the house. Using electric welding, they are connected to pre-installed and carefully fixed anchors. The reliability of the entire structure will depend on how massive the wall is. If the walls of the house, which will help distribute the weight and pressure of the new building, are not strong enough, additional supports must be attached.
  • Outreach and depth dimensions should not exceed one meter.
  • In brick buildings, concrete slabs are driven into the load-bearing wall of the house along its entire length. They are welded with the reinforcement of the jumper, which is placed above the floor below.
  • Console elements are laid in masonry in houses with stone walls.
  • The top level of the main carrier plate should finally be set 100-120 mm below the level of the final floor.
  • The floor of the structure to be created must have a slope of 2% from the main building.
  • The concrete slab must be waterproofed. To do this, a water-repellent coating is mounted on the surface of the installed slab, on which a sand-cement screed is then poured.
  • Parapets must be at least one meter. For this, metal gratings are used, which consist of handrails and racks. Racks are attached by electric welding to the embedded elements of the slab, and the edges of the handrails are inserted into the load-bearing wall of the building.
  • The threshold of the balcony door must be placed 100 mm above the floor level.

Wooden

  • The bearing elements are beams, for the manufacture of which a wooden beam with a section of 10x20 cm was used.
  • At a depth of 25 cm or more, the beam is fixed into a load-bearing wall and covered with water-repellent substances or materials. They should be located at a distance of about 80 cm from each other.
  • Beams are fixed to the walls with steel angles or strips.
  • Wooden racks 4x10 cm are attached to the installed beams with M12 bolts.
  • Then, longitudinal beams from 5x10 cm boards are fixed above the cantilever ones at a distance of 30-40 cm between them.
  • To obtain a more rigid structure, at the intersection points of the longitudinal and cantilever beams, grooves are made for cantilever beams with a depth of 300-400 mm.
  • The floors are laid by installing prepared boards having a thickness of 4 cm.
  • A wooden fence should be made of boards with a section of 3x13 cm. It is attached to the racks with screws or nails.
  • The wooden handrail should have a section of 4x9 cm. It is fixed with nails to the posts and inserted into the load-bearing wall.
  • All elements of the finished structure must be coated with hydrophobic paint or oil, and the railings and handrails of the balcony are treated twice with frost-resistant hydrophobic varnish.

forged

This is a rather beautiful option, which serves not only as a fence, but also as an elegant decoration of the building. Installation features are as follows:

  • The forged product should not exceed the size of the slab and the opening in order to avoid cutting the grate. But small reductions are acceptable.
  • For installation, carefully consider the condition of the plate, because metal products are quite heavy. The surface must be smooth, free of dents and damage.
  • To restore the integrity of the slab, you need to restore the mortgages, to which a decorative forged grate will be welded during the installation process.
  • To restore the reinforcement of the slab, the first layer of the coating is knocked down from it to the base.
  • If the edges of the slab are broken or chipped, the frame is welded on so that it is possible to pour the cement screed and maintain the original shape of the slab. The frame is made of metal.
  • Iron mortgages are attached to the welded frame elements directly for the installation of the fence.
  • When the above elements are welded, the formwork is installed and the slab is poured.
  • The grate must be installed only when the mortar is completely frozen. This also applies to other assembly work. The period of complete drying is about a month.
  • If the slab is either intact or has minor flaws, then do not use cement-sand mortar to restore it, as it will fall off very quickly.
  • To get rid of small cracks, add tile adhesive to the mortar in the same amount in which the cement was poured. If the finished layer is no more than 20 mm, only glue can be used.

French balcony in a private house

This is a fully glazed balcony with tinted or transparent windows. Tinting can be carried out with a special decorative film at will, partially or over the entire area. Features of its installation are as follows:

  • Anchor plates are attached to the boxes at a distance of no more than 80 cm.
  • The line of contact between the block and the quarter of the opening should be glued with a pre-compressed sealing tape and then the outer block should be mounted on the support blocks.
  • A second block is attached to the installed block and pulled with screws at intervals of 40 cm.
  • Next, align the assembled elements and attach them with dowel-nails.
  • The resulting gaps are filled with mounting foam.
  • The remains of the mounting foam are removed and covered with a vapor barrier tape.
  • The last step is to screw the handles and plaster the slopes.

with awnings

If desired, a canopy can be attached to the installed balcony. The choice in this case is so great that it requires separate consideration.

For reference!

To attach a canopy, profile pipes and roofing material will come in handy. The former are designed to assemble the frame, and the material for the roof can be very diverse.

Basically, canopies are made of slate, ondulin, polycarbonate, corrugated board or metal tiles. The most advantageous option is polycarbonate. First, it's easy to install. Moreover, it suppresses noise, is durable, and its formula creates additional protection against ultraviolet rays. Slate and ondulin are inferior to polycarbonate in massiveness, as well as more complex installation.

Visors are of the following types depending on the designs:

  • Shed. The simplest and most economical option for visor equipment. The monotonous angle of inclination is formed due to the triangular brackets on which the roof is attached.
  • Gable. A more complex look in the form of a gable roof, most convenient for a corner balcony or loggia. Such a visor will be more resistant to adverse weather conditions, and will also be a solution to the problem of snow accumulation on the roof.
  • Canopy "Marquise". The advantages of this type of canopy is the impossibility of accumulation of icicles and snow layers in winter.
  • dome type. A less popular option, as it takes time to complete and is also more expensive. However, it looks very presentable in private homes.
  • Arch type. It is easy to operate and install, has an interesting design and has great functionality when used.

Canopy installation

To install the visor, you will need the following equipment:

  • Welding machine for forming a frame.
  • Perforator.
  • Screwdriver.
  • Level, tape measure and construction marker or pencil.
  • A hammer.

Installation steps:

  • They apply accurate markings for fastening the supporting frame, as well as places for drilling holes for dowels. Expose the exact horizon and the level of the location of the structure.
  • Using a drill, make holes for fixing the frame with dowels.
  • The frame is fixed by clamping with anchors and tightening with keys of the appropriate size.
  • Between the supporting parts of the frame there are stiffening ribs from the same profile pipe. They can be welded or attached with a tie rod.
  • At this stage, the base has already been installed, proceed to the installation of the roof. The roof is fixed to the stiffeners using self-drilling screws.

rooftop balcony

There are three types of such balconies: gable, roof and windows-balconies. The first are protruding and recessed, in the form of a small terrace.

Installation of a gable balcony:

  • One of the gables of the roof is built deeper, in proportion to the width of the desired balcony. For finishing the roof, a hanging truss system is used.
  • The slab bordering between the floor below and the upcoming balcony is covered with insulation, waterproofing is applied on top of this layer and then a screed.
  • The next step is to install the fence. Here the choice is quite large, it will be metal, wood or brick.
  • The wall separating the attic should not be massive.

Roof type installation:

  • An opening is created in the roof in width and height for the future passage.
  • From the top to the bottom of the opening, the doors and partitions are installed, which will serve as the entrance. The holes formed on the sides of the entrance are laid with bricks, the joints are sealed.
  • The attic floor between the partition and the roof is your future balcony. It is carefully insulated, waterproofed and pulled together, like the previous gable version.
  • You can increase the space with a concrete slab. It is laid, slightly pushing forward. Further along the perimeter, the slab is reinforced and a fence is erected.

Balcony window installation:

  • This type of construction consists of an upper and lower sash. The lower one, when opened, usually serves as a railing, and the upper one - as a visor.
  • The hinges allow the lower sash to move forward or lock in the desired position. The upper sash rises along the upper axis, if it is made in hanging technology, and if in a medium-turning technique, it rises along the central axis.
  • When open, the balcony window forms a handrail.

A variety in the choice of attached balconies allows you to choose exactly the option that will best match the style of execution and decoration of the house. Wooden, concrete, metal options with a variety of designs will be designed to emphasize the individuality of the house, and will also allow you to find time to relax and contemplate the panorama.

The video contains the most beautiful houses with original balconies.

Wooden balconies and loggias adorn boring typical building facades. They have vertical or cantilevered special supports. Although, such special supports for wooden balconies do not always fit into the interior of the house and it may be difficult to install the foundation for vertical supports.

In these cases, the load-bearing base of the wooden balcony is made as a direct continuation of the floor beams. The main principles of the design of protruding wooden balconies in a frame house are the same in all cases, which will be discussed in more detail below.

Design flaws

Before proceeding with the design and installation of a wooden balcony on the protruding beams of the interfloor floor, evaluate all the shortcomings of this constructive choice:

1) The protrusion of these wooden balconies is quite small: from 0.6 to 2.2 m. The length of the balcony will depend on the section and spacing of the beams, a certain type of balcony floor and weather conditions.

2) For exposed wooden balconies, all beams pass through the damp-proofing materials of the outer walls. And this will lead to damage caused by abundant accumulation of moisture and depressurization of all enclosing structures of the balcony. That is why it is important enough that the waterproofing around all balcony beams is done with high quality and reliability.

3) Wooden balconies with a ledge are not suitable for facades that are often exposed to the external influence of strong gusty winds that direct heavy rain in a strictly horizontal direction.

4) For the construction of protruding wooden balconies, special knowledge and skills are required, and additional time and effort are also required.

Wooden balconies with a base from the continuation of floor beams between floors

Wooden balcony in a frame house

We will understand in detail the technology of building a wooden balcony in a frame house with our own hands. The construction of the balcony itself consists of the main frame, floor, canopy and protective fence. The wooden balcony is supported by outrigger beams and support posts.

Consider the options for building balconies in a frame house:

During the construction of a balcony for the base of the frame, floor beams are used, which are released beyond the plane of the wall. Wooden beams with a section of 150 by 150 mm will be enough for a platform about two meters wide. The outriggers must be rigidly fixed in the wall, and they will form a single monolithic structure with it, which will not involve any repairs in the future, and will not need to control the shrinkage of the house. The ends of the bars are connected by a special crossbar, which will serve as a finishing floor. The bearing capacity of the balcony can be increased by installing wooden struts in the form of a triangle, resting with one leg on the embedded parts in the wall.

When it is not possible to use all the elements and details of the floor as a base or a remote platform, an independent design of a wooden balcony on bearing racks is used. This construction will require additional financial costs, but there is no size limit, and space is created for a frame house with a terrace, utility room or car parking. In addition to wood, metal, silicate brick or reinforced concrete are used for supporting columns. Racks are located on both sides of the balcony or under its outer edge, the inside, resting on a wooden beam fixed along the wall.

Balcony decking

The columns of a wooden balcony are connected by a transverse beam laid on top of them, and placed slightly below the wall beam. The resulting slope of about 2 ° will ensure that all the water drains from the wall. Between the beams of the wooden frame, logs are installed in increments of 70 cm, which are fixed with special galvanized corners on the beam. The final coating is produced from planed wooden boards (thickness 50 mm), screwing all the details and elements on the sides with hidden fasteners with a gap of 7 mm. The best material for the floor on a wooden balcony will be a deck board with a special corrugated surface, made from hardwood or wood-polymer composite.

balcony railing

The height of the railing on the balcony should not be less than 120 cm.
Railings are assembled from carved or turned wooden blanks. The fence posts are attached to the load-bearing parts of the wooden frame using a tongue-and-groove connection, brackets and double-sided studs. On longer wooden balconies, it is customary to install intermediate balusters.

Canopy device

The roof on a wooden balcony comes in two main types:

The common roof with the house, for this they simply lengthen the line of the ridge or increase the rafter legs.

Canopy independent of the main roof, based on a load-bearing wall through special props or on poles around the entire outer perimeter of a wooden balcony.

But the simplest and most effective solution would be to use a lightweight structure covered with plastic, fabric or polycarbonate.

Wood protection

It is customary to cover all wooden balcony elements and parts with special paint and varnish mixtures and impregnations that are resistant to fading and fluctuations in external temperatures. High-quality and reliable wood processing is performed by a whole range of the following operations: priming, impregnation and painting.

Do-it-yourself installation and installation of a frame balcony requires great physical effort and financial costs, depending on the final dimensions of the building, the complexity of the entire structure and the specifics of building materials. But for the sake of comfort and coziness, it is worth trying hard and making a more comfortable place for your rest and work in the fresh air.

How to make a frame balcony in the house with your own hands

Building a house and want to have a balcony in the house? This article will help you make a frame balcony in the house with your own hands, let's talk about types, device + photo!

Wooden house with a balcony: features of the work. Floor device. Creating a canopy. Fence Installation

Increasingly, in suburban areas you can see wooden houses with a bay window and a balcony, as they combine high aesthetic characteristics and direct functionality. Such designs allow you to increase the usable area of \u200b\u200bthe dwelling. At the same time, they can act as decorative elements of the facade.

The photo shows an example of a wooden house with a balcony.

Pros and cons of buildings with balconies

This type of objects deserve special attention, due to the presence of a structure protruding from the plane of the facade. Most often, such structures are fenced areas used as terraces, but if desired, they can be converted into premises for another purpose.

Main advantages

  • High decorative qualities provide an opportunity to build attractive buildings. The balcony above the veranda in a wooden house looks especially elegant.
  • This extension allows you to get additional space. It can accommodate both a regular recreation area and a children's playroom, a study or a greenhouse.
  • When getting rid of the walls, this design allows you to expand the living room. However, this option is not feasible in all cases. It all depends on the design solution.

The location of the structure above the input block.

Some disadvantages

  • Buildings with a balcony have a rather complicated construction technology, so in most cases it is very difficult to carry out construction with your own hands.
  • The final price of real estate with a separate site of this type increases slightly. This is due to the acquisition of additional materials for construction.
  • During the construction process, high requirements are placed on safety, since the structure will protrude outward from the walls. If the basic rules are not followed, there is a risk of collapse.

Note! If an individual developer is more interested in the decorative qualities of the building, then you can create a false balcony in a wooden house, which will serve as a rather attractive decoration.

Features of the work

Before making a balcony in a wooden house with your own hands, you need to familiarize yourself with some of the nuances. They will help to build an aesthetically attractive and at the same time safe structure of an open or closed type. Most often, for residential buildings, the first option is used with the ability to be in the fresh air.

Option for cutting the main bars.

Preparatory activities

At the initial stage, a plan is drawn up, which reflects the location of all premises, regardless of the functions performed. For permanent residence, it is worth considering the project of a 9x9 wooden house with a balcony. Such sizes are considered the most optimal today.

Bearing part of the structure

A variety of parts can be used as a supporting frame. The final choice depends on the operating conditions and the stage of construction. If the arrangement of a balcony in a wooden house was planned in advance, then properly prepared floor beams can act as load-bearing elements.

An example of a construction on wooden struts.

The support is very often served by poles installed vertically. Strapping bars are usually laid on them. Thus, a rather stable and attractive design is obtained.

Sometimes it is not possible to install such supports. In this case, special struts are used.

In terms of rigidity, the structure is inferior to analogues with the lower position of the pillars, but it looks very impressive. With this option, excessive loads are not allowed.

The methods discussed above make it possible to understand how to attach a balcony to a wooden house.

Floor device

Logs from a bar with a section of 100 × 50 mm are laid directly on the strapping in increments of no more than 40 cm. Fixation to the supporting part is carried out using nails with a length of at least 120 mm. You can also use special fasteners made of metal.

To the lags are fastened tongue-and-groove boards with a thickness of at least 35 mm. Nails are driven into the inside of the groove so that they are not visible.

The covering from similar boards does not need additional finishing. It is enough to treat the surface with moisture-resistant paint.

If the room is below, then thermal insulation is performed according to this scheme.

Waterproofing an open balcony in a wooden house is carried out if the space under it is used for any room. In this case, heat-insulating material can be laid between the lags, which is covered from above with rolled materials like glassine or roofing material.

When waterproofing a balcony in a wooden house with your own hands, the canvases are spread on the floor logs, after which wooden slats 50 × 40 mm are attached to provide space for ventilation.

Creating a canopy

The roof over this design is not always arranged. If it is supposed to spend time outdoors even in inclement weather, then this should be taken care of in advance.

First, a frame is made from 100 × 50 mm bars with a distance between the elements of not more than 40 cm. Its dimensions must match the dimensions of the manufactured site.

Waterproofing is laid on top of it. Additional wooden blocks 50 × 40 mm are installed directly on the rafters.

This is how the canopy is created.

A crate of edged boards is attached to the control rails. The step between the main elements will depend on the type of roofing. If profiled sheets are used, then the distance should be no more than 30 cm.

Such a canopy can be held on support posts or struts. The choice of a specific option is made taking into account the dimensions of the structure.

Fence Installation

Support posts can be load-bearing poles to support the roof or separate pedestals from beams with an increased cross section. In the latter case, the elements are installed using metal studs.

Balusters are also installed using metal rods, but with a reduced cross section. A special rail is attached to them, on which a convenient handrail is put on.

Some types of balusters are shown.

Attention! Choosing wooden railings for a balcony in a country house or residential building should be based on the overall design of the building, otherwise they may not look very appropriate.

In conclusion

Unlike the device of a conventional terrace, the construction of this structure is carried out without creating a foundation, since it is suspended. In this regard, special attention must be paid to the bearing part in order to achieve a high level of safety. As for the rest of the points, the structures are very similar.

How to make a wooden house balcony

A balcony in a wooden house will help to give a country house a special beauty and attractiveness. . Sometimes this design is an important element that decorates the whole house, but such construction requires considerable effort. For this reason, it is necessary to determine in advance what functions it will perform.

Preparatory stage

At this stage of construction, it is important to determine how to make a balcony and will it serve as a decorative structure? If yes, then it will be enough to install only one door. If linen is dried there and leisure time is spent, then it can be made with large sizes. To do this, you should move it a little forward and take into account that additional support posts will still be needed.

Wood is the best option for this design, as it is an excellent heat insulator. The main elements that are used in the construction of a balcony are:

Frame and flooring

The basis of the structure under study will be considered to be the floors between the floors. Only used beams should be pushed forward by the required amount. When a reinforced concrete floor is being installed, then the balcony should be installed on several supports. A wooden beam is attached to the wall, and then a transverse console is mounted to the racks. It must be laid exactly horizontally and carefully sanded beforehand. Place the platform below the floor in the room so that water does not get into it. Such a platform will be clearly visible from below, so the frame must be mounted very carefully.

The floor is usually made of pine boards or larch. If there is no terrace under the balcony, it is necessary to lay boards with a gap of 5 mm so that water does not collect, but can drain beyond it. Wood must be treated with special protective compounds: varnish, paint, etc.

If the house with a balcony is wooden, then the boards are mounted on the support beams, the main thing is that they are of sufficient thickness and the correct step of the supports is observed.

They can also be fixed to a wooden structure if the supports are wide. When the balcony serves as a canopy over the veranda, then the flooring must be protected from precipitation. To do this, perform waterproofing on the balcony.

waterproofing layer

First, on top of the bars fixed on the frame, make a solid flooring from the boards. They should be laid at a slight slope to drain water. Then lay a layer of waterproofing: membrane or roll. On top of it, install the battens of the crate, adhering to the gap between the boards of about 7 mm. Roofing steel can be used instead of waterproofing material. In this case, to drain the water, use gutters and pipes.

Waterproofing for an open balcony

When performing such an element in a wooden house, a slight slope should be maintained to avoid the accumulation of water on the surface. Absorbing moisture, the wooden floor will gradually collapse. The slope must be maintained within 4 cm to avoid damage to the waterproofing.

The waterproofing layer itself is carried out with liquid, film or roll, as well as membrane materials. When carrying out this process, you should pay attention to the design of the balcony and what stage of implementation it is in: ready or initial. If the balcony is already ready, the best option would be to use a concrete screed, which is mixed with liquid rubber. Or use special waterproofing plates installed under the floor covering.

Liquid rubber is a great option for waterproofing

An excellent option for waterproofing is pouring liquid rubber onto a tree using a special sprayer. Before using this material, all existing gaps between the boards should be sealed with ordinary mastic. The disadvantage of this method is the need to purchase expensive equipment that only specialists can have.

Waterproofing of a closed balcony

The waterproofing technique is practically no different from the process for an open balcony. It is only necessary to take into account that the closed type has a ceiling and walls, which also need to be paid attention.

Special impregnation of polyurethane will help to perform excellent waterproofing of the ceiling.

If it is possible to get to the outside of the ceiling, then waterproofing can be performed, similarly to the floor. In this way, a reliable coating will be obtained.

Wall waterproofing

The process of waterproofing the surface of the walls of the completed balcony can be done by the following methods:

  1. Painting. The most common but expensive option. Protective agents are applied to the surface: varnishes with rubber additives, which need to be updated regularly.
  2. Okleyechny. Such materials can be glued due to exposure to high temperatures or self-adhesive. The most common material is ruberoid. But, the process of working with this material is laborious.
  3. Powder. It includes the usual cement mixture to which liquid rubber is added, some types of plaster or tile adhesive. The disadvantage of this method is the low strength and resistance to mechanical damage.
  4. Water repellents. They are ready-made mixtures with excellent water-repellent properties, providing protection from high humidity. The disadvantage is the rapid destruction from direct sunlight.

This method should only be used for hydraulic internal insulation.

fencing

For a balcony, it is important that there are railings, as they will combine strength and attractive appearance. In order for them to decorate the house, it is necessary to review the options for existing projects in advance to select the most optimal one. Railings are most often made of wood: chiseled or carved. Metal designs do not look bad, which harmonizes perfectly with the general background.

Racks are firmly attached to the installed supports with tongue-and-groove joints. Figured columns are mounted using brackets, as well as various corners. They are fixed directly to the walls of a wooden house.

Canopy device

When a project is created for a balcony, a canopy is not always provided. But, such an additional design will make leisure more enjoyable and comfortable. From an economic point of view, the most optimal solution would be to make a canopy as a continuation of the roof. In this case, it is necessary to firmly fix the base board, and attach the rafters to it. From bad weather, protect with PVC film or an awning made of dense fabric. These are affordable and lightweight materials.

Balcony in a wooden house: how to make

A balcony in a wooden house will help to give a country house a special beauty and attractiveness. Often this design is an important element that decorates the whole house as a whole.

How to attach a wooden balcony to a wooden house

When deciding to build a house or a summer house, it is unlikely that any of the owners wants it to look like a neighboring house. A cozy, beautiful and at the same time functional wooden balcony in a wooden house will not only be an interesting design solution, but will also add additional space in the house for relaxation and tea drinking in a pleasant company. And additional elements of a wooden balcony will give the wooden house a very attractive finished architectural look.

The functionality of the balcony of a country cottage is varied. This can be the role of a visor over the entrance area to the premises or a favorite vacation spot for the whole family, from where it is pleasant to observe the beauties of the landscape. But it must be noted that the opportunity to fully use the balcony without additional insulation will be only in the spring and summer, and the rest of the time it will have to be freed from snow and leaves. But these are minor trifles, in comparison with how the balcony will decorate the exterior of the house.

So, let's analyze the main stages of building a wooden balcony in a wooden house.

Balcony frame formation

This stage of construction is very important, it requires great diligence and accuracy.

Wood is also used to build the frame of a wooden balcony. Firstly, in order to maintain a unified architectural style, and secondly, wood is a valuable heat-insulating building material.

We begin the construction of a balcony in a private house with the creation of a frame.

It is best to think over the shape, size and purpose of the balcony in advance.

Balconies in wooden buildings differ in the materials of the enclosing structures. They can be internal or external.

Sometimes the balcony is located between the corner walls of the house, which ensures high reliability of fastenings. In addition, its base can simultaneously serve as an overlap under the veranda.

If you plan to build a balcony only as an element of decor, then only one door is enough. But if the balcony will still carry some load (for example, drying clothes, evening gatherings or smoke breaks), then, depending on the size, support posts are installed.

When building a two- or three-story cottage, you can use wooden interfloor ceilings as the basis for a balcony. It is enough to release the beams 1.5-2 m beyond the plane of the building. If the floors are made of reinforced concrete, then for the construction of a wooden loggia, it is necessary to install supports. To do this, a timber is attached to the wall of the house, and a transverse beam is laid strictly horizontally on top of it. Moreover, it is desirable to build a platform for a balcony slightly below the floor level of the room, in order to exclude the possibility of moisture accumulation.

Also, pay attention to one point. The balcony platform is always clearly visible from below, so all work on the installation of the frame must be done very carefully and accurately.

The main ways to build a balcony

For buildings built from logs or timber, the technology for building a balcony is similar. It differs only in the way of support. Supports can be made:

  • beam-cantilever method;
  • beam-support.

Scheme of types of balconies according to the method of construction in a private house.

In the first option, cantilever beams (logs) or simply outlets are located on the lower crowns of logs and are elements of continuation of internal or external load-bearing walls. Among other things, such bars additionally decorate the facade of the house.

The cantilever method involves another option, in which the elongated beams of the interfloor floor, protruding to the desired length beyond the facade, serve as supports for the balcony. But many experts believe that this method does not meet building codes and requirements, since moisture can get on the support beams, which will eventually lead to rotting of wooden elements.

With the beam-support method of construction, the balcony is located above the veranda or terrace and is a roof for them. This option is much more often used in the construction of country wooden cottages.

The internal balcony is built mainly according to the French type, when it is arranged as a full-height window frame. That is, it is a small fenced area located immediately outside the door.

Let's look at each method in detail.

Console way

When using beam-cantilever technology, it is necessary to determine the location and height of the loggia during the preparation of the project in order to release the beams in this place during construction. For greater reliability, the other end of the beam should be attached to the main wall of the house. The fastening must be rigid.

Construction of a balcony in a private house on consoles.

The release of beams is usually done at 1.5-2 m. The beams themselves can be made of round logs or profiled timber. It is important that the outlet beams form a monolithic structure with the wall. If the width of the balcony is greater, then additional support pillars are erected. At the same time, a special screw mechanism is placed in the pillars to reduce the height of the supporting element by the size of the draft of the structure.

For additional reinforcement of the console, wooden or metal slopes are installed. The latter, made with the help of forging, can serve as an additional element of facade decor. To strengthen the fastening of beams resting on walls, battens are used.

The consoles, which are the basis of the design of a classic rectangular loggia, are connected by one beam, then a rough flooring is made and a finishing floor is laid on top of it. The extreme floor beams are securely fastened to the horizontal frame racks of the wall, and the rest to the battens.

The canopy over the loggia is carried out separately, or is a continuation of the roof of the cottage.

If the balcony is purely decorative and has a width of no more than 1 m, then in this case wooden trusses can be used as a support. They are attached to the wall with special brackets. But there is a significant drawback. Over time, the mount loses its appearance under the influence of precipitation and dirty rust spots appear in the mounts.

Building a balcony on racks

Owners of country cottages most often prefer to build balconies on racks that rest against the base of the veranda or terrace. At the same time, the base of the balcony serves as a roof for them.

This method is used when the balcony is large, or it is not possible to use the ceiling under the base of the loggia. Of course, this option will require more significant costs, but the size of the balcony and, accordingly, the terraces under it can be any. You can place a parking lot under the balcony.

Attach a balcony to a private house using a beam-support method.

Support posts with this method can be wooden, metal or brick. They are usually located along the outer edge or on both sides of the loggia. The inner part of the racks rests on a beam, which is rigidly attached to the wall.

Support posts are installed in accordance with the following technologies:

  1. Logs are taken a little smaller than required. Initially, bars are placed under them, and after the house shrinks, they are removed, thus leveling the loggia. But, nevertheless, there should be a slope outward of about 2% so that the water does not stagnate, but flows freely.
  2. Racks are installed on jacks, and then twisted as necessary.
  3. Bars or logs are set strictly in size, and when the building shrinks, they are simply filed.

Arrangement of a wooden balcony

For the construction of the floor on the balcony, planed boards 40 mm thick are used. To prevent the accumulation of water on the floor, it is better to lay boards with a gap of at least 2 mm. You can use well-established decking boards for the floor. They have great strength, but at the same time they are easily drilled for fasteners, and in addition they have a corrugated surface.

The structure of the wooden floor for a balcony in a private house

Of great importance when arranging a balcony is a fence. When performing railings, you need to consider some rules:

  • the height of the fence must be at least 100 cm;
  • the distance between the balusters is made no more than 10 cm;
  • railings must withstand a horizontal load of at least 100 kg / m;
  • the surface of the railing should be smooth, without notches and burrs.

In addition to reliability and durability, the balcony railing should have an attractive appearance that will be combined with the general style of the house. Balusters made of chiseled or carved wood will decorate the facade of the house. Forged metal railings will also not spoil the appearance of the cottage.

We must not forget about the protection of all wooden elements of the balcony from the weather and insects. We recommend taking comprehensive protection measures. They include treatment with primers, antiseptic impregnations and the application of a layer of a special lacquer that is resistant to fading.

Be sure to perform work to protect the wooden elements of the balcony from the sun, moisture and insects.

It is not always planned to create a canopy during the construction of a balcony, but practice shows that such an element will give more comfort. The easiest option is to use fabric awnings or PVC film. But it is better if the canopy is part of the roof of the house.

Whatever way you choose to build a wooden balcony in a wooden house, the main thing is that it be a reliable, durable and comfortable structure. At the same time, if it adds some element of architectural sophistication to your home, it will also not be superfluous. Let rest on the balcony of your wooden house please your whole family on quiet summer evenings.
