Country crafts from plastic bottles windmills. How to make do-it-yourself mole scarers from plastic bottles and other materials. Making from bottles

With the onset of summer, the owners of summer cottages and gardens are looking forward to the beds, berry bushes, fruit trees, assessing the future harvest. Children are eagerly awaiting when the grandmother's first berry ripens. When the side of a strawberry or cherry is almost flushed, the bird deftly picks up the berry, eating the prey on the go.

It will not be possible to take away the stolen goods. You need to think about protection from pests in advance, before the onset of the berry season. To prevent a tasty treat from flying away with starlings and blackbirds, you need to know how to make a bird repeller from plastic bottles with your own hands.

The device is universal, inexpensive, humane. Let the tips help those who have grown the harvest enjoy the berries. And the birds will stay alive. After harvesting, they will again fly to the gardens, feed on harmful insects.

From childhood, we are taught that birds are the protectors of gardens. They destroy harmful bark beetles, leaf-eating caterpillars, aphids and other insects that harm vegetables, fruits, trees. However, for some reason, no one remembers that useful birds turn out to be dangerous pests, destroying the grown crop, if a bird repeller from a plastic bottle is not installed in the garden.

And this is not the only harmful act committed by birds:

  • Nimble gray sparrows quickly notice when fresh lawns are sown. They instantly come to the site as a friendly family and quickly peck seeds.
  • Bird flocks trampling on the grass harm young, immature lawns.
  • Jackdaws love to eat vegetable seeds. They dig up freshly dug beds and look for prey.
  • Ravens, starlings, pigeons are not at all afraid of human proximity. If the opportunity arises, they are not averse to flying onto the balcony, into the gazebo in the country, stealing something edible or shitting on the table, other garden furniture.
  • Sometimes birds like to land on film greenhouses for rest. Flying upward, they tear the film with their claws.

Making a bird scarer from a plastic bottle with your own hands

For many years, home-made stuffed animals have been used in kitchen gardens to scare away birds, shiny discs are hung, magnetic tape from cassettes is stretched.

Modern "kulibins" figured out how to make a bird repeller from a plastic bottle.

The simplest and most successful example was demonstrated by the presenters of the program "While everyone is at home." Timur Kizyakov and his engineer friend Andrey Bakhmetyev made a device that conquered the world and saved crops in a matter of minutes. Their experience is worth exploring.

Sequence of actions step by step

Before you learn how to make a bird repeller out of a bottle, you need to prepare materials and tools.

For work you will need:

  • plastic bottle;
  • pieces of foil;
  • Scotch;
  • cutter knife;
  • small washer;
  • glue or liquid nails;
  • felt-tip pen;
  • a piece of thick wire;
  • stick holder.

We begin to collect the bird repeller with our own hands from plastic bottles according to the instructions:

  1. Drill through the hole in the lid and bottom, placing them opposite each other. The diameter must be such that the prepared wire or electrode can pass freely.
  2. Make markings for future blades with a felt-tip pen. Divide the surface vertically into four parts, draw straight lines. Add two horizontal lines to each vertical line to make four Cs.
  3. Make cuts along the marked stripes with a knife. It turned out 4 doors-blades that open outward.
  4. Glue the washer on the wire at a distance of 1 cm from the end.
  5. Place the wire in the bottle, guiding it into the hole made in the bottom. The bottle holds on the washer, it spins, does not fall down.
  6. Screw on the cover by passing the other end of the wire through the hole.
  7. To frighten the birds, you can glue pieces of shiny foil onto the blades.
  8. If the length of the wire is at least 1 m, then the repeller can be attached to it. If there is no long steel wire at home, it is recommended to attach the finished product to a stick.

It's time to take the device out to the garden, check it in practice. Even a small breeze will twist it, which means that the task is completed.

Conclusion

A do-it-yourself bird scarer from plastic liter or one and a half liter bottles is the simplest way to help preserve the crop, drive out uninvited guests from the site.

It is installed for a time when protection is required. In the fall, rooks, sparrows, tits and pigeons will return to the gardens, sing songs, and destroy real pests.

A weather vane is a special device used to measure the strength and direction of the wind. It has long since migrated from meteorological laboratories, in which more accurate electronic devices have appeared, to the roofs of houses, becoming a successful and useful element of decor. Windmills in the form of exotic animals or birds with moving parts set in motion by a gentle breeze look elegant and always attract attention. It is easier to buy or order complex forged products from an experienced craftsman, and we will tell you how, if you have a creative approach and a plastic bottle with your own hands with a propeller.

The weather vane was originally considered a purely meteorological instrument, with the help of which scientists observed the speed and direction of air currents. But people who noticed the useful properties of this simple device began to make with their own hands from improvised means and install wind turbines on the roofs of houses. Over the years, the weather vane has not changed its design, which consists of the following elements:

  • Housings. The body is called the part into which the axis of rotation of the windmill is placed. It can be cylindrical or rectangular. For steel models, a piece of pipe is used as a body into which a bearing is inserted. For homemade wind turbines, the body is made of a wooden block.
  • Cap. The cap is a funnel-shaped or round piece that fits over the pivot shaft to protect the body from moisture penetration. In addition, it acts as a limiter, fixing the axis of the weather vane at the required height.
  • Axis of rotation. This is an indispensable element of the design of the windmill, on which the weather vane is put on. It is inserted into the body and rotates the weather vane due to the impact of wind gusts on the weather vane. The axis can be made with your own hands from metal rods, wire, sticks or even a nail.
  • Rose of Wind. This term is called a device for determining the cardinal points. It consists of two cross-shaped sticks or pipe sections, each of which points to a certain direction (gray, south, west-east). When the wind sets the weather vane in motion, the arrow points to one of the cardinal points, which helps to determine the direction of the gust.
  • Weathervane. A wind vane is a rotating element of a windmill that indicates the direction of the wind. It consists of an arrow and a counterweight and is fixed on the axis of rotation. A weather vane can be made in the form of a simple pointer, an animal, a bird, or a whole plot. It is made of galvanized steel, copper, wood, and the easiest way to make a weather vane from a plastic bottle with your own hands.

Note! Some models determine not only the direction of the wind, but also the strength of the gusts. For this, the weather vane is equipped with a hanging piece on a rope and a special scale. The suspension can be made from a metal plate or a piece of wood. This element is fixed to the weather vane. The force of the blowing wind is determined by the deviation from the vertical position using the scale.

Making from bottles

If you do not want to spend money on an expensive metal wind turbine, you can make it yourself from scrap materials, for example, from plastic bottles, which accumulate in a country house a lot. You can turn this activity into a fun workshop for children or enjoy the creative process on your own. To make a weather vane in the form of an airplane with a propeller, you will need 2 large bottles with lids, a wooden block, a long nail, wire, cardboard, a marker and a sharp stationery knife. The work is done in the following order:

Important! During the manufacture of the weather vane, make sure that all materials used are light and moisture resistant. A heavy wind turbine will not spin well in a weak wind, and a cardboard craft will quickly get wet in the rain. If you want the weather vane to accurately show the direction of the wind, it must be fixed at a height of at least 4-5 meters.

Wind turbine functions

A weather vane is an invariable attribute of seaside towns and villages, where the winds blow constantly, and knowledge of the direction of air movement is not useless information, but a means of survival. Sailors, fishermen and other people whose lives are closely connected with the sea install wind turbines to know if there will be a storm. A properly made and installed weather vane performs the following functions:

    • Helps to determine the direction and strength of air currents. This information is useful for going out to sea, for performing some agricultural work (sowing, treatment with fungicides and other chemicals). Helps keep nature observation diaries.
    • It is a striking decorative element that distinguishes the house from its neighbors. The weather vane complements the architectural image of the home, making it certified and showcasing the individual style of the homeowner. Models with moving details, depicting plot paintings, immediately attract attention, and hand-made windmills from bottles or plywood speak of the owner's creativity.
    • Rotating parts and the sound produced by the weather vane will scare birds away. Some species of birds are malicious pests that destroy the harvest of fruits or berries in a matter of hours. A weather vane made of plastic bottles or sheet metal, rotating, scare away uninvited feathered guests with the help of noise and brilliance.
    • A windmill can serve as a signboard, symbolize the occupation of the owner of the structure. For example, shoemakers often installed a weather vane in the form of a boot, millers in the form of a mill, and a hairdresser could make a vane in the form of scissors.

Interesting! In the old days, the weather vane was considered a powerful amulet that protects against the evil eye, evil spirits. Rotating parts, noise were supposed to confuse and scare away all hostile forces from the home. Even if superstition is alien to you, a beautiful weather vane can become a kind of talisman or family name.

Video instruction

With the onset of spring, everyone begins to put things in order and beauty in the yard, in the country. I would like to do something interesting with my own hands. Alternatively, it can be a weather vane, but not from wood, as in ancient times, but from plastic bottles.

Weathervane aircraft starship.

Materials and tools:
Plastic bottles 1.5 l. 4 things. and 0.5l. 2 pcs.
Bulgarian.
Thermo glue with a gun.
Scissors, knife, screwdriver, self-tapping screws 3 pcs.
Step 1. Making the propellers.
For the owner of a mechanism for opening bottles into a shrink cord, this will be an additional idea for the disposal of accumulated bottles from bottles. For those who don’t know what I’m talking about, we just take three items of 1.5-2.5 liter bottles and cut them off as in the photo.

If you immediately find bottles with the original color, then you will not need further staining with nitro paint.

On the bottoms obtained there is a mark for cutting.

Cut out the propellers along these lines. You can cut with a knife, scissors, but the easiest way is with a grinder, because it is very difficult to cut through the central thickening.

Before cutting, you can plan in which direction the future propeller will turn and change the drawing in advance. After cutting with a grinder, there will be very large edges of the baked shavings, which must be cut off with a knife and scissors.

These are the turntables (propellers).

Now we make a hole for a self-tapping screw in the center of each virtual girl, on which it will rotate. To do this, it is convenient to use a heated awl or you can immediately drill with a drill.

The turntables are ready.

Step 2. Aircraft body.

Now we will make an airplane body from two small and one large bottles.

And from a piece of polycarbonate wing 400X40 mm.

On the body of a large bottle, we outline two holes for drawing the wing through and through, cut through.

We try on how the wing passes, if necessary, we cut off the excess.

On small bottles, we make a slot only on one side.

We assemble the plane and glue everything tightly from the pistol.
The structure should be rigid.
We find the balance point and drill a hole for the hairpin, on which the weather vane will turn in the wind. We drill first with a thin and then thick drill.

For the axis, use an old helium pen or another.
We insert it all the way and fix it firmly with thermal glue.

In the center of the covers, pierce holes with an awl to screw in self-tapping screws.
Good self-tapping screws of this type.

We fasten the turntables to the lids, do not tighten, we check that they rotate easily from a light blow.

Cut out two rectangles 50x120 mm from the flat part of the bottle. For the tail of the aircraft, it will turn the aircraft towards the wind. We smooth the rectangles in half and glue both tails, top and bottom, on the rear of the fuselage.

Many people are interested in the question: how to make do-it-yourself turntables from plastic bottles? The issue of preserving the cleanliness of the environment has become a global issue. Indeed, walking along the streets of the city, relaxing on a river or in the forest, we often see scattered cans and plastic bottles. Anyone can provide all possible assistance in solving this issue. Moreover, this process can become not only useful, but also entertaining, bringing joy and satisfaction. Everything is very simple! Everyone can make interesting crafts from improvised material. A spinner made of a plastic bottle is a product that can serve as both an ornament and a toy for children, and is useful in garden and summer cottages.

Turntables made from plastic bottles are most often obtained in the form of flowers, and serve not only for decoration, but also for determining the strength of the wind.

Making a turntable

The first way

We will need materials:

  • plastic bottle;
  • stationery knife;
  • scissors;
  • marker;
  • awl;
  • bead;
  • wooden stick.

A washed, peeled, dried, empty plastic bottle is taken.

The blades of the spinner can be positioned along the entire length of the plastic bottle.

The neck of the bottle is cut off with a clerical knife at a distance of 10-12 cm from the cork. The resulting part is divided into 5 equal parts, lines are drawn with a marker from the base to the end of the part. The workpiece is cut along the lines, each blade is bent towards itself, the edges of the blades are cut in a semicircle (for aesthetics). The resulting rays are alternately bent at the base to the left parallel to the neck from one incision to another. The fold lines are well ironed with your fingers so that the strips do not straighten.

Blades are obtained, slightly turned to the left. A hole is made in the middle of the lid with an awl, and with the help of a clerical knife, it is formed along the diameter of the gel rod so that it rotates freely. After inserting the rod into the hole, the cord from the old headphones for the mobile phone is passed through it. A cord is passed into the bead from the inside, coming out of the core. The end of the cord is tied with a knot to secure the bead. The resulting spinner is attached to the other end of the cord on a wooden crossbar. Decorated to your liking. The spinner toy for your baby is ready!

Second way

Materials and tools used:

The turntables can be hung on trees, which scares birds away.

  • plastic bottle;
  • stationery knife;
  • scissors;
  • marker;
  • awl;
  • braided fishing line (line);
  • empty gel pen refill;
  • cord from old headphones for mobile phones;
  • large needle;
  • bead;
  • wooden stick.

The bottom of the bottle is cut off with a clerical knife at a distance of 15 cm. The resulting blank is marked into 5 equal parts. The marking is not difficult, because the bottom itself has the same number of rays. It is marked with a marker and cut with scissors along the lines obtained. The strips are bent towards themselves. A braided cord is threaded through a needle. The cut parts are individually folded to the right parallel to the base.

Fasten with a cord (fishing line), passing with a needle through both edges of each bent part. A small end of the cord is left. Having strung all the blades in this way, remove the needle, pull and tie the fishing line. In the middle of the bottom, an awl is made and a hole is formed with a clerical knife along the diameter of the rod of the gel pen. A cord from the headphones is passed through the rod, from one side a bead is strung onto it. The bead is fastened with a cord tied into a knot.

A rod is inserted into the hole in the bottom (the bead should be from the inside), and the resulting spinner is tied to a wooden stick. The craft is ready.

Using turntables

The above options are not the only way to make turntables. Manufacturing is multifaceted. Fantasy has no boundaries. An excellent opportunity is to give the necessary shape, transforming the blades at your own discretion. It is possible to use the item in various places, attaching to all kinds of holders.

The turntables attached to the stick-holder become a wonderful toy for a child, with which he can walk in warm summer weather, when a light breeze is blowing, and enjoy the spinning miracle. Having decorated home, garden, country fences, we get a wonderful opportunity to enjoy a magnificent spectacle.

The turntables used on land plots become assistants in preserving the harvest. At home, they can serve as an interior decoration.

Observance of order

Imagine a situation in which each of us approaches the conservation of natural resources with full responsibility. Starting with small things, remembering that there are designated areas for waste, taking away used products with us, we make a significant contribution to the maintenance of the environment. Moreover, recyclable materials have the opportunity to find a second life in interesting, entertaining, sometimes necessary things in the household.

What is it needed for low-power wind turbine? The answer is to provide yourself with a certain amount of energy: for lighting in autonomous conditions (on a hike, on a picnic, on an expedition, in the country), for powering and charging portable electronics (phone, tablet, navigator, lights, radio, etc.) , even in the US Army they use a marching mobile wind generator... So homemade portable wind turbine It is also useful as a backup power source in a settlement, for example, if it is installed on a balcony, roof or pole or even a tree, it can also power sensors and other low-voltage devices without the presence of mains voltage, and also serve as an advertising structure (kinematic sculpture ). It is also possible to check the wind possibility of installing a powerful wind generator (if a small wind turbine does not work, then there is nothing to say about a big one).

You can make a carousel wind turbine from several regular PET bottles of 1-1.5-2 liters. A lot of affordable and simple options were sorted through, and a wind turbine from plastic bottles turned out to be the most affordable, simple and reliable option: the bottles are light and strong, have a round shape, there are many of them and they are almost free. The development is based on the author's patent UA №59312 "Wind generator (wind turbine), Moseichuk hydrogenerator".

There is wind almost always and everywhere (especially at a height or in the intervals between buildings or hills), and complete calm occurs only about 20 days a year, in contrast to sunny days, for example. In addition, we will make a universal wind generator that can work both as a damless mini hydroelectric power plant (mini HPP) and even in manual mode in the absence of wind (for this, our wind turbine has a manual dynamo generator mode)! Attractive? We read on.

Materials we need

Steel thin-walled (wall thickness 0.8-1.1 mm) pipe with an outer diameter of 25 mm: 2 sections of 0.5 meters (for the axis of the windmill and the base of the console), 2 sections of 0.4-0.5 m each (for connecting axles and bases of the console above and below), one 0.15 cm piece for attaching the generator to the lower console, in general, you need about 3.0 meters of pipe (they are just sold at 3 meters). For the prototype, I used a thin-walled chrome pipe with a wall thickness of 1.0-1.1 mm, its strength for a household wind turbine is quite enough, and it looks beautiful;

16 PET plastic bottles 1.25-1.5 liters, preferably cylindrical in shape, without concavities for the hands (interestingly, recycling one plastic bottle saves the energy of a 60-watt electric light bulb that works for three hours and up to 2 million are thrown away in the world every day plastic bottles).

16 plastic PET bottle caps;

2 bearings No. 205 (GOST 180205, 6205-2RS);

2 clamps 6 \ 4 "for pipes with rubber for fastening axle bearings with studs 8 mm;

2 clamps 3 \ 4 "for pipes with rubber for attaching the wind turbine to a pole, tree, wall, mast, to ensure fastening, you can simply tie the wind turbine console along its entire length to the support with a rope or wire;

1 clamp 3 1 \ 2 "for mounting a dynamo-flashlight or stepper motor;

9 screws M4 * 35, preferably with a press-washer head;

16 enlarged M5 washers (namely M5, not M4 to increase the area) for attaching the plug caps to the axis;

Rubber tube 10 cm long and 25 mm inner diameter for attaching the dynamo generator handle and axle, or a sleeve in a 25 mm tube with an 8-10 mm hole for mounting a stepper motor.

The tools we need

Electric drill;

Pipe cutter or hacksaw for metal;

Drills for metal 4.0; 8.0 mm

Phillips screwdriver;

Desirable wrench 7 for tightening the nuts M4.

The basis of the entire structure of the wind turbine is a rectangular console made of steel pipes. The console consists of a vertical axis rotating on bearings, two crossbars at the top and bottom, and a base. The axle is fixed in the bridges by bearings. The generator is located on the bottom of the axis.

The difficulty in making the axle is that you need to drill holes for attaching the bottles along two parallel spirals, like in a DNA molecule. Since the holes on the pipe are of small diameter, we first mark the place of drilling with a marker, and then we nibble it.

Let's start with one of the most difficult procedures. We retreat 10 cm from the top of the axis and begin to drill through holes 4 mm in a spiral with an offset to the left horizontally by 2.5 mm vertically by 82 mm. Then we drill the holes of the second spiral 90 degrees from the first.

To fasten the safety bolt of the bearings, we move 10 cm from the bottom of the axle and drill a through hole of 4 mm.

To secure the bottles, you first need to attach the caps. Pre-drill (burn) holes of 4 mm in the plugs. To fasten the plugs in pairs to the axis, we take a 4 mm screw, put a wide washer on it, insert this structure into the plug from the inside, push everything through the pipe. From the other side of the pipe, we put the plug on top of the pipe, put on the washer and tighten it with a nut inside the plug. And so we repeat 8 times.

We screw tightly into each cork on the axis along the bottle-blade.

Blades

Windmill blade made of plastic bottles
and is a PET bottle with an elliptical half-cut on the side. We get such a wind turbine blade. We do not touch the bottom - it is necessary for strength. To start cutting, it is advisable to burn through the initial hole on the seam of the bottle with a red-hot nail or file, and then cut a semicircle from it with scissors.

Generator

As wind turbine generator you need to use something slow. It can be a 1, 2, 5-10 watt stepper motor, a bicycle hub dynamo or a flashlight dynamo. I chose the last option - it fits very well: it has a cylindrical shape with a diameter of 6 cm, convenient for clamping with a clamp and unfolds, is waterproof, has a built-in controller and a 380 milliampere * hour battery, can shine in two modes for 1.5 or 5.5 hours , in a stable wind or in manual mode, it can recharge external devices via a Nokia-type output (wide, 2.5 mm) or a Nokia cable with a USB-male, which can be used with a USB-female-USB-female adapter.

We insert the handle of the dynamo-lantern into the bottom of the rubber tube at the bottom of the axis. We center and fix the generator in a clamp, which in turn is cantilevered to the lower pipe of the large console.
