How to make angel eyes on the headlights yourself. DIY angel eyes. We make angel eyes with our own hands - step by step instructions

Each owner secretly dreams of improving the appearance of his iron horse. It's nice when the car looks more expensive than it really is. Tuning headlights is one of the most common ways to change your appearance. It is very popular to install glowing rings in the optical elements, popularly called do-it-yourself angel eyes.

There are three ways to get a fashion accessory:

  • buy ready-to-install;
  • made of transparent plexiglass and individual LEDs;
  • make on the basis of LED strip.

We dismiss the first method right away - it's boring, and there is practically nothing to describe. But we will dwell on the rest in more detail.

Angel eyes based on plexiglass rings

In order to make glowing rings for headlights or foglights using the first method, we need:

A transparent bar can be purchased at a building supermarket - these are used in blinds. Any can that matches the diameter of the reflector is suitable as a cylinder. If the headlights are not round, then the process of bending the bar will be more difficult - you will have to make a template of a complex shape yourself from the material at hand.

To begin with, the circumference of the future ring is measured. Then a piece of a bar of the required size is cut off, and holes for LEDs are drilled at its ends. The bar can now be bent.

To make the plexiglass soft, it is heated with a building hair dryer. To make the ring, the softened bar is wrapped around the template and waited until it becomes solid again.

Now you can install the LEDs in the pre-drilled grooves on the ends. You can fix it with transparent glue. It is dripped into the recess and the LED is inserted.

For better dispersion on the resulting product, you need to make notches with a depth of 0.5 mm at equal distances (the easiest way is with a hacksaw blade or file). In order not to suffer with painstaking work, you can cut a thread on a still straight bar using a die of a suitable diameter.

LED Angel Eyes

Rings with two LEDs have significant disadvantages. First, they are open-loop. Secondly, they are not bright enough to be used as daytime running lights. Angel eyes made of LED strip are devoid of such disadvantages. To make them you will need:

To begin with, mark future rings on a sheet of plexiglass. Then they are cut out, first along the outer diameter. They should be cut only with a hand jigsaw or a ballerina. If you use a jigsaw, the plexiglass will melt at the cut.

The resulting circle is checked in place on the headlamp, if necessary, the size is corrected. After checking, you can cut out the inside.

For a better glow from the outside, the rings are pasted over with a special diffusing film. If it is not there, then you can make notches with a hacksaw blade or simply wrap it with fine sandpaper.

Now you can install the ribbon. Before gluing, you need to carefully attach small cubes - six pieces will be enough - made of plexiglass between the LEDs so that the distance between the diodes and the surface of the ring is about two mm. The tape is attached to the finished ring by gluing these cubes.

Before fixing the tape on the rings, you need to solder the wires to it and fill the soldering points with silicone sealant.

The finished rings can already be tested by connecting them to a 12 volt power source.

Power connection

Ready-made angel eyes are usually connected to the power supply of the side lights of the car. This is the simplest and most effective way, since you do not need to lay additional wiring and make a separate switch. It is imperative to observe the polarity - unlike a conventional incandescent foot, you cannot connect an LED at random. If you confuse plus and minus, it will not burn.

It is required to carefully drill a small hole in the reflector of the headlight or fog lamp, only so that the wires pass through it. After the final installation of the ring and the assembly of the headlight, it will need to be filled with sealant.

The power supply of the tape is connected to the on-board network using standard wiring to the side lights, observing the polarity.

In a similar way, you can make and install angel eyes with your own hands, not only in the headlights of a car. Fog lights can also be decorated with LED rings. Motorcycle and scooter headlights will look great too with custom LED lights.

Tuning is a popular hobby of motorists. Manufacturers offer many parts for decorating vehicles that can significantly change their appearance. But often drivers are limited to spectacular optics.

Among the huge variety of alternative lighting devices, angel eyes are the most popular. Design features of this type of optics. Differences between branded kits and non-original. And, of course, how to install angel eyes with your own hands? All this is discussed below.

Round headlights with LED strip around, or angel eyes, have always attracted the attention of motorists. More often, this type of optics is installed on executive cars. Angel eyes on BMW cars are considered the standard. This is the recognizable style of the seventh series sedans, as well as crossovers.

Making angel eyes with your own hands is real. The only question is what will happen in the end.

Often, car owners get the idea to change the look of their optics when they see the spectacular BMW headlights. But it is achieved thanks to quality components. Tuning enthusiasts forget about this, believing that there is no difference between expensive and cheap diodes.

The result of such savings is weak LEDs, which not only do not give the desired effect, but also do not last long. It would seem that you can buy the tape again and install it, but this will require disassembling the headlight again. Isn't it better to take a quality one right away?

As it turns out, the original diodes in the store or their copies on AliExspress are expensive. On the other hand, buying cheap ones, the car enthusiast will not only spend several times on the actual LEDs, but will also pay for the installation. So how to make angel eyes with your own hands and save money? Unfortunately, distinguishing high-quality LEDs from mediocre ones by eye is extremely difficult. And in stores, sellers strive to offer a low-quality product from China. And the power of the original or Chinese diodes is significantly different. So, for non-original ones, the maximum luminous flux is 12 lumens. And the branded ones have 100 lumens. A car enthusiast will spend less money if, instead of one LED strip, he replaces a row of LEDs in such a way that their total power is sufficient.

The reader will certainly ask how to make angel eyes with your own hands? This process is not as simple as it seems. And many, faced with installing LEDs for the first time, only care about cost savings. Meanwhile, a good result can be obtained only by taking into account a number of parameters - first of all, luminous intensity.

The most popular option is to make spectacular optics from plexiglass or clear plastic. They are based on LED strips placed in small recesses. But the power of the LEDs placed in the inner part of the material does not exceed 0.5 watts.

A small luminous flux directed forward and inward, part of which conceals, in fact, glass or plastic, will be distinguishable only at night. If you put more powerful LEDs, it still does not help if the direction remains the same. But if you put an LED strip with a power of five to ten watts with a luminous flux of at least three hundred lumens, you can achieve an effect like on premium cars. In this case, the luminous flux should be directed only forward. Otherwise, the car enthusiast will receive only one more set of side lights.

You can also use a light tube to create a red eye effect. These are used as side lights. Cutting the tube and making a ring out of it can give a good result. Moreover, it is quite simple to install such. You just need to place the ring behind the headlight, and the reflector will not allow it to move.

Using the example of a video on how to make angel eyes with their own hands, readers will be convinced that this process is extremely difficult, it requires special skills, strong nerves and, of course, straight arms.

Each headlight needs to be disassembled. Manufacturers fasten their parts with a sealant, so they will have to soften it with a construction hairdryer within five to six hours. But all this will not seem such a tedious task if the headlights are not assembled on rubber sealant. In this case, there is only one way to disassemble the headlamp. To do this, you need to carefully pick out the optics and cut. This process is very long and requires attention and care. It is possible to damage the machine in the part where the body meets the glass.

Once the headlamp is removed, you need to measure the diameter of the place where the diodes or tubes will be placed. Install and fix them only on a degreased surface. How to fix it? Manufacturers of LED sets offer double-sided tape in the kit, however, it will be very hot from the lamps and it is possible that it will subsequently lose its properties. You need to use something for fixing that would provide a strong fixation and, at the same time, is resistant to heat.

When the LEDs are installed, the headlight can be assembled. In this case, you need to ensure that moisture does not get on the surface. For the connection, use a rubber sealant, and assemble with a calculation so that later, if necessary, it can be disassembled again. This is mainly required if the first assembly was made with errors and moisture gets on the headlight. This can cause the glass to fog on the inside and eventually rot the wires.

During the assembly process, you will need to connect the LEDs. There are several ways:

  • Connect the LEDs along with the dimensions;
  • Disconnect the dimensions and connect the diode tape;
  • Connect angel eyes along with daytime running lights;
  • Together with turn signals, if the tape is two-color;

Installing angel eyes with your own hands on a Prior or a car of another brand is a great temptation. But this process is extremely laborious and requires special skills. A person who is not confident in his abilities is better off entrusting the work to professionals. Moreover, after connecting the DRL together, there may be problems with turning it on and off. In this case, a special DRL controller is required. The color scheme - RGB or monochrome - does not matter in this case. The only problem you will face when installing a controller with an RGB block is finding a place to place it.

So, what should a car enthusiast remember when he wants to make himself optics in the style of angel eyes?

  • Do not install cheap LEDs, which, after installation, will not give the desired effect, and the owner will have to not only spend money on buying new ones, but also on installation;
  • Pay attention to the luminous flux. The ideal value for angel eyes is three hundred lumens;
  • Install LEDs on plexiglass or transparent plastic. This is the most common way;
  • Disassemble and reassemble the headlamp with the utmost care - you can damage the car body. In addition, moisture can enter the headlamp during assembly. It is necessary to preserve the ability to repeat the procedure if necessary, and remove it - otherwise the wires will rot and the glass will be cloudy.

About making do it yourself angel eyes almost all owners of domestic or imported cars think about it, because they want to make their vehicles as attractive as possible. By installing these side lights on the car, you will make them look like the headlights of BMWs of recent years.

Headlights of this kind are their trademark feature. If you really like this kind of headlight glow and that is what attracts you to BMW so much, then it is not necessary to save money for an expensive German. Such dimensions can be made on every third car. The main condition is the round shape of the headlights.

Almost all domestic cars have such a design, for example, VAZ 2106 or VAZ 2110. Just imagine how often other drivers or ordinary passers-by will look closely at your car. Believe me, these headlights are hard to miss!

DIY angel eyes

At first glance, the design of such side lights may seem quite complicated, however, in fact, making angel eyes with your own hands will not take much time and will not require a large amount of financial investment.

All that is required in the manufacture of a beautiful "eye" (parts of the materials can be replaced if necessary):

  • Jigsaw or metal saw;
  • Nippers;
  • Pliers;
  • Plexiglas bar;
  • LEDs;
  • Drill;
  • File;
  • Drill;
  • Soldering iron;
  • Building hair dryer;
  • Capacity;
  • Can;
  • Insulating tape;
  • Resistors;
  • Wires.

Naturally, in order to create angel eyes, you need at least partially understand electrical engineering.

Prepare the required items before starting. Take a bar of organic glass, cut out a pair of blanks for your car (according to the number of round car headlights in which you want to install your own handmade angel eyes).

Organic glass blanks

Fix the LEDs in the rods and cut along the cut every 0.5 centimeters and set the resulting eyes in the place of the headlights.

Diodes inside an organic tube

This has all been described briefly, and now let's proceed to a full-fledged, step-by-step manual for making angel eyes.

How to make angel eyes with your own hands?

Before you start collecting DIY angel eyes from LED strip or plexiglass rods, you must have all the tools and elements that were indicated earlier.

Plexiglas should be in the form of a tube or rod and easily tolerate heat up to high temperatures. If you go to the store, buy an expensive pipe, do not save money, especially since you will need no more than one and a half meters, or even a meter will be enough. The amount of plexiglass can be calculated even before purchasing. Take a meter and measure the circumference of each headlight. Add 2 to 3 centimeters per cut to each measurement and add all the numbers.

Let's say you want to make angel eyes on 4 headlights: two large (circumference - 25 centimeters) and two small (circumference - 15 centimeters). Let's calculate:

(25 + 5) * 2 = 30 * 2 = 60 centimeters for large headlights

(15 + 5) * 2 = 20 * 2 = 40 centimeters for small headlights

60 + 40 = 100 centimeters

As a result, 1 meter of organic glass is enough for 4 angel eyes on the car.

You can find organic glass most often at points of sale of curtains, blinds, construction and repair shops with a bias towards the decorative and design side.

All other items can be bought at regular hardware stores or car dealerships. The resistors must be 220 ohms.

Resistors 220 Ohm

First, measure the circumference around which the plexiglass rod will be placed. Take a regular meter or any piece of thin hose if you have one at your side, and circle the headlights, measuring the circumference. The resulting length is applied to the organic glass tube and cut.

We measure the circumference of the headlight

Now heat this piece of plexiglass to such an extent that it is flexible enough. You can use a hairdryer, soldering iron, or hot water. Wait a while and make sure the tube is warm enough to bend.

Warming up the tube with a hairdryer

Using a pair of pliers, take a heated headlight blank and wrap it around a can or any other structure. Wait for the tube to cool down. The diameter of the tin should be approximately equal to the diameter of the headlight. When working with small rings, you need to be especially careful, since short rods are quite difficult to twist even in a hot state. Be extremely careful not to burn yourself.

Bending of the heated workpiece

When the workpiece has acquired the required shape, has cooled slightly and can be taken in hand, remove it from the jar. Drill holes along the ends of the workpiece, where the LED will be installed.

Drilling a hole at the end of the workpiece

Tip: Drill very carefully and at low speeds. Plexiglas is quite fragile and the resulting thin walls can easily crack under pressure.

When the inner workings with the pipe are finished, work on it from the outside. The procedure is optional, but the effect of "cilia" with a properly made notch will look beautiful on any headlights. It is important to keep the same distance between them.

Take a hacksaw and with light movements make cuts on the surface with the calculation: 1 for every 0.5-1 cm (depending on the length of the tube). They are made circular, in depth they should not exceed a quarter of the thickness of the tube. Notches of this kind will help to emit a pleasant radiant light from the headlights, like a "German".

Notches on the surface of the tube

Secure the diodes in the drilled holes so that they do not dangle. They can be filled with transparent glue, silicone or fixed in any other way.

Securing the LED in the tube

Now you need to solder the resistors to the LED legs.

Soldering resistor to diode connection

Thus, you will need 2 diodes per headlight (one on each side of the tube in the form of a ring) and 2 resistors soldered to the diodes.

Next, you need to solder the cables to our workpiece for easy connection with the old wiring system. Twist the tube into a circle and roll up the edges with electrical tape (if necessary). That's it, the LED Angel Eyes are ready to install.

Insulation of tube ends

The final stage of manufacturing is to test the headlights for operability. To do this, you can connect them to a power source and check if the LEDs are on and if the light is scattered normally. It is important not to mix up the polarity!

Installing angel eyes with your own hands

After the new lights are ready, you need to temporarily dismantle the existing ones in order to connect the wiring. Now install the diodes in the headlight housing so that they are almost invisible.

Installation of angel eyes in the headlight

Solder the new contacts to the old ones, connect them into one "network" and connect it back to the main power supply of the car.

It is best to install the installation at night or in the evening in order to fully appreciate the lighting. You may need more powerful LEDs or a good headlight glass polish.

How to connect bi-xenon angel eyes lenses?

Car enthusiasts are well aware of the benefits of xenon light and how it behaves with lenses. Bixenon lenses with angel eyes look much more spectacular and modern. They fit perfectly under any base and lamp without the need to saw the reflector. All that is needed is to remove the glass, place the lens inside and close it back.

Angel eyes with bi-xenon headlights

If you have very bright LEDs, bi-xenonon lenses prevent dazzle of oncoming vehicles and normalize the light beam.

What are the best angel eyes?

The question is ambiguous and difficult to answer. If you do not take into account the hand-made assembly, then it is better to trust the professionals who have already assembled similar headlights more than once. You can find a person who can custom-made angel eyes very efficiently and quickly on any automotive forum or in social media groups dedicated to this topic.

It is recommended to contact people who have installed such lights for themselves. They know how to correctly select tubes, LEDs and take into account other nuances in order to achieve the maximum glow effect at the lowest cost. In addition, they can show by their own example what the purchased angel eyes will look like.

Prefer to make your own headlights? Make sure to match heat resistant tube and LEDs with suitable light output. Angel eyes with a weak luminous flux will practically not be visible against the background of the main headlights. Very bright LEDs, on the contrary, will only blind oncoming vehicles and impede their movement on the road.

An article about the "Angel Eyes" car headlights tuning element, as well as about their installation. At the end of the article - a video about a simple way of making this device with your own hands.

Contents of the review:

Currently, tuning headlights with your own hands is perhaps the easiest option for improving the exterior of the car. Increasingly popular in the driving environment began to use "angel eyes". They are luminous rings that are embedded in the optics of the car. The pioneers in this area were BMW, and many motorists who liked the innovation followed them.

What are "angel eyes" for?

"Angel Eyes" have become an integral part of modern tuning. When switched on, they can act as parking lights that can highlight the car. On an impenetrable night, this can significantly increase the level of security. "Angel Eyes" consume an insignificant amount of electricity - they are not able to provoke a quick discharge of the car battery.

"Angel eyes" and their color

Colors of "angel eyes", and in what cases they can be installed on the car:
  • yellow, red, green, orange, purple - allowed to be used as tuning on show cars;
  • white, blue - can be used in everyday use, as a backlight and dimensions.
In other words, the operation of "angel eyes", except for white ones, does not comply with the rules governing the use of lighting devices. Their presence gives the traffic police the right to issue a fine, warn the driver in an official manner and be sure to withdraw non-standard lighting equipment. This prohibition also applies to multi-colored "angel eyes", that is, those whose color can change.

Plexiglas products

Practically everyone can make "angel eyes" from plexiglass. To do this, you need to prepare:
  • 8 LEDs at 3.5V;
  • 8 resistors with a nominal value of 2200 Ohm;
  • Sheet plexiglass or round rods from it.
If the rods could not be found, then 1 cm by 1 cm bars are cut out of the plexiglass sheet. To determine their length, it is enough to measure the circumference of the headlights.

The resulting blanks must be rounded. For this, it is advisable to use a grinder. But you can do this work by hand, using a piece of sandpaper. In the end, you should end up with three round rods, not just machined, but also polished.

Next, the workpieces need to be bent, giving them the shape of a headlight. For this purpose, it is best to use a building hair dryer. In advance, you should find a round object, the diameter of which coincides with the size of the headlights. The pre-heated blocks must be bent over a stencil and allowed to cool down so that they take the desired shape. All surplus must be removed.

At the ends of the blanks with a drill, holes must be made into which diodes will be inserted. They are connected to the wires that supply power to the side lights. The positive terminal of the diode is connected to the positive wire, and the negative terminal to the negative one. Ballast resistors are soldered at a distance of about 15 cm. You can use nail polish to attach the diodes to the holes.

All connections must be properly insulated. If there is a desire to make the "angel eyes" radiant, then cuts are applied along the entire length of the rods, the depth of which should not exceed 1/3 of their diameter.

Using LED strip

Rings with two LEDs have significant disadvantages. Firstly, it is their openness. Secondly, they have insufficient brightness, which does not allow them to be used as navigation lights. These disadvantages can be easily avoided if LEDs are used for the manufacture of "angel eyes". For this you will need:
  1. A small sheet of plexiglass. Its thickness should not be less than 5 mm, but the use of material thicker than 7 mm is also impractical.
  2. Cloth for a hacksaw for metal.
  3. Ballerina - this is what is commonly called a device that allows you to cut out round holes of large diameter.
  4. A tape with a large number of LEDs per 1 meter of length.
  5. Diffusion film.
  6. Transparent glue.
  7. aluminum heat-resistant tape.
  8. Soldering iron with solder.
  9. Wires with terminals.
  10. Heat-shrink tubing.
The markings of future rings are applied to the glass surface. Then they are cut out. And first of all, the outer diameter should be cut. For this purpose, it is best to use either a hand jigsaw or a ballerina. It is not recommended to perform this work with an electric jigsaw, since the plexiglass will melt along the edge of the cut.

The size of the cut out workpiece must be checked again by attaching it to the headlight. If there is a need for this, then the workpiece needs to be corrected. Only then can the inner contour be cut.

To achieve a better glow, the outer part of the ring is pasted over with a diffusing film. If there is none, then the surface can simply be made matte by processing it with fine sandpaper.

The tape is now installed. True, before that, wires are soldered to it. The place of soldering must be filled with silicone sealant. Also, before installation, it makes sense to check the operation of the structure by connecting it to a 12 V power supply.

Which is better to use, LED or CCFL

We do not have an unequivocal answer to this question. Therefore, we provide lists of the advantages and disadvantages of each of them.

The luminous element in Angel eyes CCFL is a luminous neon tube, which is covered with a protective plastic casing. Their pluses:
  1. The light is distributed evenly over the entire ring.
  2. Does not respond to vibrations and shocks.
  3. The emitted light is softer than that of diode counterparts.
  4. Relative cheapness.
  5. The power consumption is very low.
Negative nuances:
  1. Starting is carried out through inverters (ignition units), which fail before the end of the life of the backlight ring itself (20,000 hours).
  2. To achieve the maximum brightness of the glow, it takes about 2-3 minutes after connecting.
  3. The brightness is significantly lower than that of LED.
  4. The service life is half as much as for diode ones.
Angel eyes LED consists of LEDs that are soldered onto a solid base.

The main advantages of this version of the "angel eyes" include the following:
  1. The brightness of the glow is so high that they are perfectly visible during the day and they can be used as navigation lights.
  2. The service life exceeds 50,000 hours.
  3. Not susceptible to vibration and shock.
  4. Low energy consumption.
  5. The light is distributed evenly.
  6. It works stably both at -40 ° С and + 100 ° С.
The negative aspects of LED are the spotlight and high price. In addition, if one LED burns out, then the entire ring has to be replaced, since selective replacement is problematic.

Installing "Angel Eyes" yourself

How to install these products yourself, I would like to know many car owners who like to modernize the appearance of the car. But high-quality tuning in the absence of proper optics cannot be considered as such.

Let's look at the process using the example of installing neon tubes. First you need to start preparing the seat in the headlight. To do this, you have to remove the headlight.

After that, you will need to dismantle the glass. This should be done extremely carefully. After removing the glass, the grooves in which it was attached are very thoroughly cleaned of sealant residues. Gasoline helps very well in this case.

Long-term operation of the headlight leads to the accumulation of microscopic debris and dirt in its interior. They should be removed with an exceptionally soft cloth or cotton swabs. Doing this with unprotected hands is strictly prohibited.

When installing, take into account the aesthetic component. To "angel eyes" perfectly match the color of the car, you need to know some of the nuances. So, for example, for light cars it is better to choose neon ones. If this is not possible, then LED ones will do, but they should emit a bluish color. But the rich white color of the LEDs is perfect for dark and black cars.

After disassembling and cleaning the headlights, you can mount the "angel eyes" in it. This is done quite simply. A colorless sealant is applied to the inside of the ring. After that, the product is superimposed on the surface of the headlamp reflector and is well pressed against it. Connect the device to the car network only after the sealant is completely dry.

The assembled device must be checked for operability, for which power is connected to it. Only then can the headlight be assembled. For this, a layer of colorless sealant is applied to the groove, on which the glass is planted. Again, you should wait until the sealant has completely risen, and only after that the headlight can be put in place and connected.

A simple way to make "angel eyes" with your own hands - in the video:

Most likely, every car enthusiast at least once thought about how to create angel eyes with his own hands. Thanks to this effect, the side lights of any car become similar to the headlights of modern BMW models. Just imagine how the appearance of your usual car will change after that, and with what surprise and interest other drivers and pedestrians will look at it.

In fact, making such lights is not difficult. It is enough to arm yourself with wire cutters, pliers, a metal saw and other improvised tools to quickly implement your plan. Of course, it is desirable to have at least a little knowledge of electrical engineering and the skills of independent repair work.

To create angel eyes with your own hands, you need a plexiglass rod, from which we will cut four blanks. Next, we will fix the LEDs in them and cut out one cut for every 5 mm. Finally, we will install homemade "eyes" on the headlights of the car, replacing the standard parking lights. It remains only to consider in more detail each of the stages of work.

How to make angel eyes like BMW

"Angel Eyes" is a unique horse from the German manufacturer, loved by so many motorists. However, if you enjoy this mesmerizing glow, you don't have to buy an expensive foreign car. You can do it on almost any car. It is important that he has round front optics. It is possessed, for example, by domestic VAZ 21213 or.

But, of course, the design will suit foreign cars even better, including the same BMWs of old models, which so lack the brilliance of their followers. In any case, the beauty and showiness of the new headlight edging can attract the attention of the traffic police. But if they do stop on the road, it will not be threatened solely out of interest.

Preparation for work

First of all, let's arm ourselves with the necessary tools and materials. As mentioned earlier, you will need pliers, wire cutters, a metal cutter, a drill, a file and drill of the correct size, a blow dryer, or a soldering iron. In addition, you cannot do without a special transparent plastic or plexiglass rod that can withstand high temperatures. Auto tuning experts recommend looking for it in stores that specialize in the sale of blinds and curtains. It is also worth preparing a large flat container for a plastic rod, a round jar, electrical tape, 8 one-volt LEDs, 220 ohm resistors and wires with connectors.

It is quite easy to find these materials and tools, the main thing is desire. Please note that the headlights have wells of different diameters, so the "angel eyes" will have different circumferences. Don't worry about it - the design will turn out to be smooth and beautiful anyway.

We make "angel eyes" with our own hands from scrap materials

It is important to choose a rod of the required length or use a piece of thin hose as a measure (to trace the circumference of the car's headlights). Cut the rod to a suitable length and heat it with a hair dryer or a soldering iron in the prepared container until it is soft enough. If your bar is made of plexiglass, you can place it in a container of hot water for softening. Take your time and make sure the part has been properly processed before moving on to the next step.

Use pliers to remove the workpiece. Wrap it around, for example, a coffee can and wait a while until it cools down. Instead of a can, another round container or a regular plate will do.

To make little angel eyes, you need to wrap the lid from the can with a rod. In this case, the complexity of working with a workpiece directly depends on its size: smaller parts are slightly less susceptible to impact. Be careful not to burn your fingers.

Next, let's start working on the workpiece, which has acquired a ring-shaped shape after cooling on the can. Drill a kind of niche at the ends of each of the blanks, into which the LED will be installed. Drill very carefully, setting the speed of the drill at a low speed: the twig has very thin walls and can be damaged under high pressure.

Now we move on to processing the outside of the workpiece. Here, using a hacksaw or drill, cut twenty lines to a depth of no more than a third of the circle. This must be done so that the "angel eyes" emit a bright, radiant and eye-pleasing light. Next, secure the diodes using any convenient method. The main thing is to take into account that the thermal expansion of the plexiglass rod is characterized by a high coefficient. This means that the "eyes" need additional free space in the niche. Now take the resistors and solder them to the LED legs. Prepare in this way two diodes for each headlight.

The next step is to solder the LEDs to the side lamp, more precisely, to its positive phase (do not mix up the polarity!). Be sure to insulate all connections with the use of specially designed tape. Upon completion of the work, check the structure for operability.

DIY video instructions for creating angel eyes:

Installing angel eyes on car headlights

The time has come to move on, perhaps, to the most unpleasant and unloved phase of work by many, namely, to dismantle the headlights. But without this, unfortunately, there is no way. Take out the standard dimensions and be sure to plug the holes. Install the prepared diodes on top so that they are as little noticeable as possible. After that, reattach and check how the whole structure works. Be sure to do this in the evening or at night to really feel the effect. So that the impression is not spoiled by muddy headlights, do not forget first. We wrote about different methods of polishing optics earlier.

Finally, I would like to note that tuning, even if it is small, is a very responsible matter. If you are not sure if you can complete the entire assembly or any part of it, it is better to practice on something else first, or immediately seek help from an electrician.
