How to profitably use decorative plasterboard interior partitions

Partitions are one of the ways of cardinal zoning of a room. They can also serve decorative purposes, if you decorate them - make them in the form of an arch, hang flower pots, arrange a picture or photo gallery.

But all these ideas can be implemented if these same partitions are strong enough. This strength can be given to them by drywall sheets.

How to install interior partitions

No need to be scared and close the page. We do not intend to explain the technology of their construction. Let the experts install decorative interior partitions made of drywall.

Your task is to make sure that they are mounted exactly where intended, and in compliance with certain rules. Otherwise, it is not even the hour of the partition will collapse.

Let's just say it briefly. They are mounted on a frame, that is, on an aluminum profile.

First, vertical supports are placed from floor to ceiling. Then perpendicular (horizontal) crossbars or spacers are attached to them.

And now the frame is sewn up with drywall sheets with self-tapping screws. The ends are covered. The seams are smeared. The created partition is ready for priming and decorating.

Finishing the ends, openings, arched vaults depends on the configuration of the structure. But the main thing is that the partitions are set correctly, the rest can be entrusted to the finishers.

  • Designs with niches are also suitable there. You can place decor items on them and mount the backlight.
  • A low white partition with niches is also characteristic of one of the ethnic trends - Japanese.
  • Modern style will make friends with a partition painted in black, white, sand shades. Gloss, paint with a metallic effect is possible.
  • Avant-garde interiors favor ellipsoidal arches or designs that combine straight lines and rounded corners. Finishing can be anything up to mirror mosaic and wallpaper with a futuristic print.

Stained glass window or Japanese conciseness. What to prefer?

The role of the decorative partition may vary depending on the purpose of the room. And it will already serve functional purposes.

  • The bar counter between the kitchen and the room is also a plasterboard partition.
  • The low and wide box, which we wrote about above, can serve as a pedestal for an aquarium in the living room or for a TV, music center.
  • A high partition, but not the entire width of the room, can separate the office or dressing room from the bedroom. And hang a TV panel on it.
  • If we are talking about zoning a large loft-style room, then the partition can serve as a desktop.
  • We have already written about zoning with a partition of a children's room for two children of different sexes.

Advice. If you are worried that a plasterboard partition, no matter how beautiful it is, will visually reduce the room, attach a mirror to it for almost the entire width and height.
