How to make a simple greenhouse for cucumbers. Do-it-yourself greenhouse for cucumbers: ideas for ready-made designs with photos. How to make a greenhouse out of wood

There are no people who love cucumbers. The ultimate dream of every gardener and amateur gardener is a huge amount of green vegetables in summer and throughout autumn. But the trouble is that not every climatic zone is suitable for this. Growing vegetables outdoors can be problematic. To make dreams come true and avoid many problems, many install greenhouses and greenhouses on their plots.

Views

There are a great many varieties of greenhouse devices. They can be made by hand (which gardeners often do), bought ready-made, or ordered according to individual sizes.

Film tunnel

The easiest to manufacture and often used is film tunnel... For its device, a trench is dug into which old leaves, humus, compost are laid - in a word, everything that the process of self-heating gives. A frame is installed, arcs are attached to it, a film or covering material is stretched. The arcs should be evenly spaced along the length of the greenhouse.

The advantage
This device is available (it can be made from any materials at hand), small financial costs, simplicity and ease of manufacture.

To the disadvantages can be attributed to uncomfortable use. Open every day in warm weather to allow the plants to enjoy the sunshine and ventilate. In the evening, the covering material must be returned back, while fixing it in all suitable ways: sprinkling with earth, pressing with bricks or boards. Polyethylene film is short-lived; it can easily break with gusts of wind.

Polycarbonate greenhouse

By this principle, you can establish greenhouse, cover it with sheets of polycarbonate.

Such designs have many advantages:

  • Very light weight.
  • Conducts sunlight well.
  • Resistant to weather conditions, save from hail, heavy rains, hurricanes and have high thermal insulation.
  • Maintain a stable temperature.

The disadvantages include the fact that the material is afraid of scratches and damage:

  • when they are present, much less light enters.
  • from temperature changes, the material can decrease or increase in size.
  • does not tolerate ultraviolet radiation, so that this does not happen, the top is covered with a film.

Portable greenhouse

It can be made of wood, the height of which is uneven in relation to each other. Lay polyethylene or an old window frame on top of the structure. The film is attached to the high part. In hot weather, you just need to remove the frame or roll the cover onto the rail.

Plus is that it can be made in the shortest possible time.

Minus- the design is short-lived, it can be enough for 1-2 seasons.

Greenhouse without foundation

Manufactured as follows: a deep trench is pulled out, where cuttings of plants, trees, compost are arranged.

When watering the laid composition, the process of decay will begin, the heat from which will be supplied to the plants. Seedlings will appear earlier and plants will not freeze in case of unexpected frosts.

A frame made of arcs, plastic or metal pipes, or directly for a polycarbonate cover is installed on top.

Types

By types of structures are divided: buried and above-ground.

Dimensions (edit)

When determining the size of the future greenhouse, first of all, you need to check how convenient it will be for the gardener to process it. You can conduct the following experiment: squat down, stretch your arms, as if working with plants. The resulting size will be half the width of the structure if processing takes place on both sides.

If you plan to install a lean-to, then the length of the arm will be the width of the structure. The length of the greenhouse can be as arbitrary as necessary for the owner. The height depends on the desire of the owner, because after working on an uncomfortable structure, you can accelerate the attacks of diseases like osteochondrosis or increased pressure.

Choosing a greenhouse location

When choosing a location for the location, you must take into account the following nuances:

  • Arrange the structure so that it is convenient to work with it: watering, feeding, weeding.
  • The place should be well lit and windless.
  • There should be a free access to the greenhouse for repairs, installation and dismantling.
  • Install from west to east.
  • For the convenience of work, mount the structure on a flat surface.

How to choose?

Today there is a huge selection of greenhouses, which differ in size, materials and various shapes.

The first thing to look out for is the wireframe. He is the main indicator in the garden.

  • Aluminum- beautiful in shape, collapsible, can be easily transferred to another place. It does not corrode. The disadvantages are reduced strength and instability in case of strong wind gusts.
  • Steel- the most suitable option for long-term installation. The material is strong and durable. There is only one drawback - the high price.
  • Wooden base- the material is one of the cheapest, most environmentally friendly. Minus - the tree is subject to deformation and decay, such a structure will not last long.

What material to choose for the basis of the structure, it is up to the owner of the suburban area to decide, it is necessary to take into account all the pros and cons and financial situation.

Before installing the greenhouse:

  • You need to decide how it will be - light, so that it can be moved to different places, firmly installed in the ground, reinforced on a solid foundation.
  • Choose a place on the site so that it is located on the south side.
  • The surface where it will be installed must be flat, otherwise, it must be leveled.
  • As a coating, use any type of film coating.
  • To prevent tears, at the attachment points, you need to adjust the rubber gaskets or tape.

Using these simple tips, you can build a beautiful, strong and durable greenhouse on your site.

Cucumbers can rightfully be called kings. All summer residents dream of getting a harvest of green vegetables in early summer. In addition, many began to practice planting them in such a way that in the fall, in the end, they would have time to remove some more fragrant cucumbers. But the whole trouble is in the unpredictability of our climate, not always and not in all regions it is possible to harvest a good harvest. For such cases, installation on a personal plot for cucumbers will be an excellent help, you can make it yourself with minimal investment, pre-select a photo on the Internet ..

Today you can buy, and, nevertheless, many people make a greenhouse on their own from improvised means. Let's determine which option is better and why.

Greenhouse option Advantages disadvantages
Finished construction
  • It can be used immediately after installation, does not require preliminary calculations, eliminates the physical costs associated with its construction.
  • The shape and size may not always match the needs.
  • High price.
DIY greenhouse
  • You can think over the optimal size and shape, in addition, it can always be dismantled and assembled in another place.
  • Saving money - you can assemble a greenhouse from scrap materials.
  • It is required to calculate the structure, physical efforts will be required during the assembly of the greenhouse.

Cost is the main criterion for choosing a greenhouse made, because most summer residents are retirees with a small income. We have selected the best and most inexpensive, and also tell you some tricks on how to make the right greenhouse for cucumbers.

Interesting and practical ideas for greenhouses for do-it-yourself cucumbers: photos of ready-made designs

There are a lot of options, but in this case, one should start from the fact that cucumbers require a lot of free space, this must be foreseen during construction. Based on these features, we propose to consider the following design options for cucumbers:

  • as tunnel type arches- a mini-greenhouse for cucumbers is made of arcs placed at a certain distance;
  • shed- view of a wall greenhouse, one side of which rests on the building;
  • gable in the form of a house or hut.

How to choose the right material for the frame and sheathing of a greenhouse for cucumbers

Do-it-yourself borage can be made from different materials, interesting options are presented in photo collections, but in order for them to last much longer, use our tips.

What can you make a frame from?

For a home greenhouse, you can use the following materials:

  • metal profile- this is the most durable option, it is not afraid of bad weather, it is strong and stable;

How to choose the right greenhouse cover material

The following transparent materials are used as covering materials:

  • polyethylene film- this is one of the budget options;
  • polycarbonate- an excellent replacement for the film material. The only thing that can damage it is strong hail or wind;
  • glass- excellent material, but due to its cost and cheaper analogs it is rarely used;
  • reinforced film- durable material that does not need to be removed for the winter;
  • spunbond-agrofibre of a new generation. It is a light material that allows air, sunlight, moisture to pass through during precipitation, and does not allow condensation.

A foundation for a greenhouse - is it always needed

Some greenhouses need to be installed on. There are several reasons for this:

  • increasing the strength of lightweight frameworks;
  • additional heat and greenhouses;
  • increasing the service life of a structure, for example, a window frame.

But for small greenhouses made of polycarbonate for cucumbers, manufacturers have thought of deepening the racks into the ground, thanks to which the structures can be moved around the site. Manufacturers recommend a similar approach in the instructions for metal frames.

Rules for installing and placing a do-it-yourself greenhouse for cucumbers: photos of interesting options

Choosing the right location also affects the yield, the following factors must be taken into account:

  • the surface under the greenhouse must be flat;
  • it is necessary to choose the sunniest and most windless place on the site;
  • there should be no high fit in the greenhouse planning area.

The rules for choosing the location of polycarbonate borage can be found in photo collections.

It is interesting! Cucumbers love sun and warmth. The beds should be located in the west-east direction.

From this article, you will learn how to make beautiful and practical high beds in the country yourself. Photos, description of technological processes, some tricks during the construction will help you with this.

Briefly about the main thing: 3 basic tips on how to make a greenhouse for cucumbers with your own hands

Most summer residents are already familiar with the technology of making greenhouses with their own hands, including film ones. However, each vegetable requires its own conditions, in accordance with which you need to design a greenhouse. The following features can be distinguished for the installation of borage:

  • in the process of growth, a garter of a cucumber lash will be necessary, so it is advisable to think over the design of at least 1.05 m;
  • if the cucumbers are not self-pollinated, you need to consider ventilation and access to seedlings during insect flowering.

If the cucumbers are grown professionally, it is necessary to provide good ventilation, regular lighting, heating, and humidity control.

Budget option: do-it-yourself greenhouse for cucumbers from arcs and film

The most optimal option for borage is the production of PVC with a film coating. The build process will take several hours. In autumn, the structure can be easily dismantled, and in spring it can be installed in a new place.

Building the foundation

First, we will make the base, it is necessary to increase the strength of the structure and retain the fertile layer. The sequence of actions is as follows:

  1. Saw a tree according to a previously prepared sketch.
  2. Connect all segments to each other using corners and.

For small greenhouses, it is not necessary to make a base.

Features of installation and fastening of PVC arcs

The length of the pipes of 3 meters is sufficient to create a greenhouse with a height of about 1 m.The frame is installed in the following sequence:

  1. On the ground, we mark the location of the arcs.
  2. In the marked places we hammer the reinforcement to a depth of 25 cm with a hammer.It is important to leave segments of the same length above the ground.
  3. PVC pipes must be bent and put on. For a more secure fit, you can tie them together with perforated tape. It is important that the frame of the greenhouse is installed level.
  4. Fasten the arcs in the upper part with ties.

Fastening the film

The film must first be measured, leaving a margin of at least 3 m in length, and also cut along the sleeve, straightened and laid over the arcs. You can fix it using an old hose, pre-cut it into 15 cm pieces, which are then cut lengthwise. Sections of the hose are installed over the arcs with the film, so the web will be tightly fixed.

Advice! If you fix the film covering on the ridge, you can simply open one side for watering and ventilation. This is convenient for our variable climate, when the temperature is low at night and the plants can burn out during the day.

The ends can be closed with polycarbonate, dug in or tied with an elastic band. Another simple version of a greenhouse on a wooden frame can be seen in the video:

Borage made of polycarbonate: fast, affordable, practical - DIY installation

You can do it yourself, which will last more than one year. You will have to invest some amount in materials, but it will still come out much cheaper than a ready-made analogue.

It is important! Any brick is suitable for the foundation, except for silicate, due to its hygroscopicity. It is best to use full-bodied, it will not accumulate condensation so much.

Assembly, installation and processing of the frame

We assemble a polycarbonate greenhouse-borage as follows.

Photo Description

We prepare a trench for the foundation, fill it with sand, tamp it, lay 1 row, a layer of waterproofing, on which the second row is placed under the level on the mortar.
We cut it to the required length, grind it and treat it with stain.

We fix it along the perimeter, to it - vertical racks with the help of corners for self-tapping screws.
Before mounting the upper part of the frame, we cut the corners of the timber at an angle of 45 °.

Using corners and self-tapping screws, we connect the upper part of the greenhouse facade.
The elements of the greenhouse roof are easier to assemble on the ground and only then to be installed on the frame.

All sections must be processed with a grinder.
We fix the bar on the ridge of the greenhouse with self-tapping screws.

We fix the stiffening ribs.
Fasten the timber along the perimeter to the base using corners.

Sheathing of the frame with polycarbonate

To fix polycarbonate, first of all, you need to perform the following sequence of actions:

  1. Cut the profile.
  2. Fix it to the frame.
  3. Cut the polycarbonate to size and fix it on the profile in 3-4 places.
  4. The polycarbonate sheet on the facade can be cut after fixing.

How to make a recessed biofuel borage from old frames with your own hands

A good and budget option for a summer residence is a greenhouse made of old frames. It is advisable to choose the same designs. Before installation, you need to dismantle all handles, hinges, and remove the glass.

Digging and filling trenches with biofuel

For a buried greenhouse, biofuels can be used. For this, the following are suitable:

  • any animal manure;
  • , foliage, household rubbish;
  • production waste.

It is bookmarked as follows:

  1. You need to dig a trench 90 cm wide and 40 cm deep.
  2. Fasten on the side walls, even foam will do.
  3. Lay leaves, hay or peat at the bottom.
  4. Biofuel is laid with alternating layers of foliage. It is important to remember that the larger the volume of foliage, the lower the temperature inside the structure. It is necessary to make a rather high layer, as the composition will gradually settle.
  5. Cover with a layer of soil on top. It cannot be laid on manure, it is advisable to make a compost layer between them.

Manufacturing of a box and laying of window frames

The window frames must be installed on the base. It can be done:

  • columnar;
  • tape.

It is imperative to follow all the rules during its construction: to make waterproofing and insulation. After that, the frames are installed, they are attached to the corners to the vertical posts installed on the horizontal strapping around the perimeter, then they should be fixed along the upper contour.

It is important! For the reliability of the frame, it is better to fix both inside and outside.

Heating the beds with hot water spill

To start the processes, when laying the layers, it is necessary to spill them with hot water or immediately after laying them, pour a bucket of boiling water over them and cover them with a layer of straw. Another way to quickly warm up: put stones well heated to redness in the very middle. Alternatively, sprinkle with quicklime.

Greenhouse operating rules

To get a good harvest of cucumbers in a hand-made greenhouse, you need to follow a few rules:

  • after assembling the greenhouse, you need to leave it to warm up the earth for several days;
  • watering should be done only at the root, on hot days it is advisable to do it in the morning and evening;
  • regular ventilation is necessary, especially on hot days.

Conclusion

A self-made greenhouse for cucumbers will allow you to enjoy this fragrant vegetable much earlier; as an idea, you can pick up photos from catalogs. Seedlings will not be afraid of either spring frosts or summer heat. Properly organized watering, feeding and airing will prolong fruiting until autumn. This is the ideal way to get a good harvest in our unstable climate, and at the lowest cost.

A keen desire to enjoy fresh food at any time of the year prompts gardeners to build mobile structures for growing vegetables with their own hands.

How to properly arrange a greenhouse for cucumbers with your own hands will be told by this article and step-by-step instructions and photos.

Greenhouse types

Greenhouses for cucumbers are usually of a simple design - a box closed with a transparent material. Glass, film, cellular polycarbonate are used as a light-conducting coating for greenhouses.

A simple greenhouse for cucumbers can be easily done by hand

The second method of the device involves digging a pit, which is covered from above with a material that allows light to pass through. In a greenhouse of a similar design, it is convenient to grow cucumber seedlings using a greenhouse for a short time.

Installing a greenhouse significantly saves space at a summer cottage, allows you to get an early harvest of vegetables. Manufacturers produce prefabricated greenhouses for vegetables, but this design is much more economical to assemble with your own hands from the materials at hand.

Preparation of the base for the greenhouse

Choosing a suitable place for a greenhouse for cucumbers

When choosing a place for a greenhouse, many factors should be taken into account:

  1. The surface of the site on which the greenhouse is planned to be installed must have a flat relief without elevation differences.
  2. The greenhouse should be easily accessible to the place where the greenhouse is installed: passages for irrigation, transport of fertilizers and soil, and removal of crops. There should be enough free space around the greenhouse for the necessary repairs, installation and removal of additional insulation.
  3. The plot for the greenhouse must be located in the sunniest and most windless place, cucumbers are a thermophilic and light-loving culture. Orientation of the greenhouse to the cardinal points requires a location in the west-east direction.
  4. In places where greenhouses are located for cucumbers, there should not be a high level of groundwater. You also need to choose a place for the greenhouse away from perennial plantings of trees that will be intensively watered.

Consider the location of the greenhouse so that it is convenient to work with plants

Advice! When planning the device of a greenhouse, its purpose should be clearly defined. If the structure is being built for short-term use, - growing seedlings, the base for the greenhouse may not be provided. With the constant operation of the greenhouse, a permanent base device will be required, which can be made of concrete, brick, logs, timber, etc.

Choosing the type of cover for the greenhouse

One of the common materials for covering greenhouses is reinforced film. The material is strong enough, there is no need to remove the film from the frame in winter. Greenhouse cover made of reinforced film can be used for several years.

Greenhouse covered with reinforced foil

The main advantages of the reinforced film for covering greenhouses:

  1. High mechanical strength, tear and stretch resistance.
  2. Possible operation in a wide temperature range from -40C to + 70C.
  3. Maintainability - damaged areas of the film are easy to replace.
  4. It is not damaged when exposed to atmospheric precipitation, withstands the weight of snow during heavy snowfalls. Reinforced foil for greenhouses for cucumbers is not damaged by hail.
  5. The film perfectly retains heat in the greenhouse, helps to create the required microclimate for growing cucumbers; has a high light conductivity.
  6. Reinforced film coating is very economical, due to its low cost it is available to a wide range of consumers.

Arch-type greenhouse

A more expensive coating for greenhouses is a new generation material - that is, Polycarbonate has undeniable advantages in strength and durability in comparison with other materials.

Advantages of cellular polycarbonate when covering greenhouses for cucumbers:

  1. Greenhouse covers made of cellular polycarbonate are lightweight with high strength values.
  2. Polycarbonate has high light-transmitting characteristics. The light entering the greenhouse is enough for the development of the planted cucumbers.
  3. Resistance of the coating to weather phenomena: the flexible coating of cellular polycarbonate does not deteriorate in the event of hail, snow, heavy rain.
  4. High thermal insulation, the ability to reliably maintain the temperature in the greenhouse.
  5. The high cost of polycarbonate pays off for the long service life of a greenhouse for cucumbers.

Glass is often used to cover greenhouses. This material is fragile, any load, even hail, can damage the coating. Typically, glass is used in permanently operated greenhouses that produce crops all year round. The large weight of glass greenhouse frames suggests their use in greenhouses with a base.

Polycarbonate greenhouse

The latest film materials: polyethylene; polyvinyl chloride (PVC); ethylene vinyl acetate film (se-vilen); spunbond; agril; lutrasil and others, made it possible to almost completely abandon the use of glass for covering greenhouses.

Greenhouses for cucumbers: types, designs, advantages and disadvantages

The simplest design of a greenhouse is metal arcs covered on top with a material that transmits light well. Gardeners often cover such a greenhouse structure with several layers of polyethylene, pressing the edges of the film to the ground with something heavy.

The simplicity of such a greenhouse design and low cost are obvious, but a greenhouse covered with a film is very short-lived. The film easily flies off in strong gusts of wind, threatening the safety of plants and crops. In addition, the daily airing of the greenhouse is time consuming.

Simple arched greenhouse for one bed

In the absence of proper care, planting cucumbers is subject to the development of fungal diseases. It provokes the spread of fungal diseases and the difference between day and night temperatures: a thin film is not able to prevent the temperature in the greenhouse from dropping to the full.

Advice! The solution to the problem of airing a greenhouse for cucumbers from arches covered with a film is an overhead ventilation device. To do this, a 3 m wide polyethylene film should be cut into 2 pieces of 1.5 m each. The upper edges of the segments are fastened with an overlap on a wooden block that holds the arcs together. The edges of the film canvases are fixed using plastic clip-clips every 0.8 m. With such ventilation, you can immediately provide for a better reinforcement of the lower edge of the film, given that this fastening will not be disturbed throughout the season.

In case of severe cold snap, the entire structure from above can be covered with a layer of non-woven material: lutrasil or spunbond.

Spunbond

How to determine the required size of a greenhouse for cucumbers

The device of a greenhouse of a certain area is supposed to solve problems of short-term use of the structure or for permanent operation. Growing vegetables all year round in a greenhouse requires more capital construction than growing a single crop in early spring. Based on the tasks set, its design features are also envisaged.

Determine the height of the greenhouse by the height of the variety of cucumbers that you are going to grow

The base of the greenhouse for the constant cultivation of vegetables must be deepened into the ground by at least 1 meter. If necessary, drainage from pebbles or crushed stone is first arranged with compaction of the layer.

Greenhouse soil for cucumbers

When building a greenhouse for a cucumber crop, it is necessary to immediately prepare a nutritious soil mixture, which includes humus, compost, and sand.

Advice! An excess of organic fertilizers (saltpeter, chicken droppings) will negatively affect the development of plants.
The composition of the nutrient soil for cucumbers includes: sod and humus soil, peat soil, rotted sawdust, everything is taken in equal parts.

There are many options for preparing nutrient soil for cucumbers. In the absence of several components, the soil can be prepared from 5 parts of sod land and 1 part of peat.

Use warm beds to create comfort for your plants.

Heating the base of the greenhouse for cucumbers

Before filling the greenhouse with nutrient soil, the "trough" is prepared. The top layer of the earth is removed. The resulting groove is filled with sawn tree branches, weeds or straw cut down. When watering the beds, organic residues will begin to decay intensively, releasing heat, which will not allow the roots of planted cucumbers to cool down. A layer of soil is laid on top of the straw layer, then fresh manure. The excavated soil is spread over the manure layer, then the prepared nutrient soil. It is in the nutrient soil that cucumber seedlings or their seeds are planted.
The extra heat generated by the decomposition of manure and plant debris will help keep the greenhouse at the optimum temperature for comfortable growth of cucumbers.

Schematic: building a greenhouse

The device of greenhouses for cucumbers with your own hands from improvised means does not require global expenditures of money and special professional skills. But even from a small greenhouse area, you can get a rich harvest of cucumbers for your own table.

Considering that our own crop was grown without the use of chemicals that stimulate the development of plants, there is no need to fear the occurrence of allergic reactions and poisoning.

    Growing benefits

    Cucumbers are moody enough, they are grown only in regions with very warm and humid climates. A properly selected greenhouse guarantees:

    • ideal temperature and humidity, which can be adjusted at will;
    • the possibility of growing valuable, rare, especially capricious varieties;
    • optimal conditions for the development of seedlings and adult plants:
    • prolongation of the fruiting season to frost;
    • the possibility of obtaining the earliest possible harvest;
    • ripening of fruits to collect seeds.

    Types of structures

    Greenhouses for growing cucumbers should provide maximum warmth, but at the same time be able to ventilate. It is advisable to purchase or build spacious structures with wide aisles that facilitate plant care.

    Greenhouses for cucumbers must be high that do not interfere with the development of long cucumber lashes.

    The size of the structure can be different, for industrial cultivation construct structures with an area from 100 sq. m and more, on small personal plots, mini-greenhouses from 20 to 50 sq. m. For more details, read on our website.

    Among the most common designs, the following types can be distinguished greenhouses for cucumbers:

    • greenhouse butterfly;
    • wall greenhouse;

    Arc greenhouse

    The simplest design, which is easy to build with your own hands. Arcs from a thick metal rod are dug into the ground, then they are covered with a strong one.

    Around the edges the film is fixed with bricks... The structure is very mobile, it can be installed in any corner of the site. A greenhouse can have not only an arc frame, but also straight supports that create the appearance of a hut.

    The design is very easy to use. You can ventilate the greenhouse by lifting one half of the film and fixing it with clothespins. The greenhouse has been used for several years in a row, the film is washed and dried every season, and, if necessary, replaced.

    Photo greenhouses for cucumbers see below:

    Greenhouse butterfly

    Uncomplicated and easy-to-use design. Such a greenhouse can be bought ready-made, it easily assembled by hand... The butterfly has two folding doors, and the design itself resembles an elongated house.

    Wall-mounted

    Wall-mounted greenhouse for cucumbers erected next to the house, summer kitchen, barn or other structure. It is best done on a wooden frame or metal frame. The wall of the building protects the greenhouse from wind gusts, the plants do not need heating, developing well from early spring to late autumn.

    In its finished form, the structure resembles a small house or closet, the depth can be different. The roof wall greenhouse better to make pitched so that snow does not linger on it.

    Polycarbonate greenhouses

    The most comfortable and modern design... They can be arched or pitched, used for manufacturing industrial cellular polycarbonate with a thickness of at least 4 mm.

    Equipped with 1 or 2 doors as well. In large structures, you can grow various crops, separating them with screens of film or other materials.

    Ready-made polycarbonate structures have lightweight prefabricated metal with anti-corrosion coating. They are durable, do not suffer from weather fluctuations... A high-quality greenhouse does not need to be disassembled at the end of the season, snow or frost will not damage them. Winter greenhouse for cucumbers needs to be completed

How to choose the right material for the frame and sheathing of a greenhouse for cucumbers

If all the structures have been studied, and the desired type of structure has been selected, then it is time to decide on the material for the frame and sheathing. Wooden bars, boards, PVC pipes, HDPE pipes, polypropylene narrow pipes are perfectly suitable for the frame, a galvanized metal profile used for drywall is convenient to use.

The cladding material can be polyethylene, reinforced transparent film, spandbond, lutrasil, polycarbonate and glass. Each material has its own characteristics: if you prefer to build a permanent greenhouse, then you should opt for a combination of metal, wood, polycarbonate or glass. For a seasonal greenhouse, materials that are easier to work with will do.

When do you need a foundation for a greenhouse?

A foundation is not required for summer seasonal buildings, but if there is a desire to build a solid durable greenhouse, then a foundation will definitely be needed for it. The foundation is considered the guarantor of the stability and reliability of the building, protecting it from deformation during possible ground movement.

A strip foundation is made from such material: timber, sleepers, crushed stone. For use reinforced concrete, bricks, blocks, metal piles.

Where to place a greenhouse in a summer cottage

The goal of the greenhouse is to get a quick and impressive harvest of vegetables. Therefore, it is required to choose the right place for installing the greenhouse. First of all, the illumination of the place is taken into account, for which the course of the sun across the sky serves as a reference point. A shady location would be extremely unfortunate. The building is oriented, as well as to the cardinal points, the rose is also taken into account by the wind.

Cucumber is a light-demanding culture, but prefers morning and evening rays. That is why the greenhouse is placed with its end to the south and north. A strong wind will also not please gentle whips, so it is better to put a greenhouse where the wind is not so rampant. If there is a lowland on the site, then installing a greenhouse there will not be the best idea due to spring flooding. If there is a southern or eastern slope, it will be possible to place the building on any other than the northern one.

Advice! The greenhouse should be easily accessible for all communications in order to facilitate your own work.

How to make a borage in the country with your own hands - general provisions

  1. In the first place will be visualization, preferably in the form of a drawing with all the markings.
  2. Depending on the type of construction chosen, materials and tools are selected. To work with wood, you will need a grinder and discs, a drill, self-tapping screws, a hammer. The metal profile will have to be cut and soldered, so you will need a welding machine, electrodes, a soldering iron for pipes and suitable fittings for the connection, perforated aluminum tape.
  3. Covering material can be glass, polycarbonate, film and even plastic bottles. For the film, you will need scissors, for glass, respectively, a glass cutter.
  4. After the readiness of the drawings and a set of building materials and tools, you can begin to build the structure.

In the photo below, there are several approximate diagrams of greenhouses for do-it-yourself cucumbers:

How to make a greenhouse for cucumbers from arcs with a film coating with your own hands

The leader among homemade greenhouses. The collection takes only a few hours, and the structure is also quickly disassembled in the fall and put away for storage until the next season.

For the foundation of the greenhouse, you will need a box of boards. The convenient width of the board is 15-20 cm. All wood is treated with an antiseptic. To assemble the box, they purchase iron corners, self-tapping screws. For the frame, PVC pipes Ø20-25 mm are used. A dense wire will serve as a tie. It remains to prepare the selected covering material.

Advice! Prepare 3-6 meter pipes.

Making the base

The base is made in the form of a box - this is both the fastening of the entire structure and the retention of fertile soil inside the greenhouse. It would be better to build a base from a wooden bar with a cross section of at least 10 × 10 cm, although just wide boards will do. The building material is sawn according to the dimensions of the drawing and instructions, connected with corners and self-tapping screws.

Advice! If there is no desire or opportunity to tinker with the timber, then the vertically inserted parts of the slate will do, which will also prevent the soil from washing out of the greenhouse.

Installation and connection of arcs with ties

As soon as the box of the mini-greenhouse for cucumbers is ready, they move on to arranging the arches. They need to be located no further than a meter from each other. So that the arcs do not stagger, 2-3 ties are made along the entire length of the greenhouse. The arcs are inserted directly into the ground or attached to a wooden box. The fittings should be cut with a grinder into pieces of 50-60 cm, and the pipes can be cut into pieces of 3 meters: with such an arc length, the height of the greenhouse will be equal to one meter.

On the ground in the marked places, trims of reinforcement are driven in with a mallet or hammer to a depth of 25 cm.

Important! The fittings must be on the same level on each side!

The pipes can be easily bent and inserted into the fittings near the ground. To secure the structure with high quality, use a perforated tape. The arcs may be slightly skewed, but to correct this temporary defect, a tie is made of several long pipes, which is attached to the arcs with wire.

The greenhouse needs to be closed from the ends, any material will do: both film and polycarbonate, or you can simply pull off the edges of the film and fix them together.

Fastening the film

The film is taken from the calculation of the length of the pipes. If the length of the greenhouse is 3 meters, then the width of the covering material should not be less than 4 meters, because the film must be fixed from below. The length of the material will take 7 meters.

The film is cut with a margin of 2.5-3 meters in length, the sleeve is cut, and the canvas is straightened. The one-piece canvas is laid on the arcs from above and aligned along all edges. Now you need to fix the film in any way.

Advice! The best attachment in this case will be 10-15 cm pieces of garden hose, cut lengthwise.

How to make do-it-yourself borage from wood and polycarbonate

Polycarbonate cucumber greenhouses are very popular. The use of synthetic material has been going on for over 40 years in horticulture and agriculture. The photo below shows an aesthetic polycarbonate borage.

An Israeli invention with a transparency of 80-85% has become popular not only for its external aesthetics and neat appearance, but also for characteristics such as resistance to natural phenomena such as hail, wind, rain, snow and the minimum heat transfer coefficient. A polycarbonate greenhouse for cucumbers can be bought ready-made or made yourself.

Assembly, installation and processing of the frame

To get an excellent result, you need to pay attention to the recommendations for assembling and installing the frame. It is recommended to use polycarbonate honeycomb sheets with a thickness of 4-6 mm. Polycarbonate is a material that does not allow air to pass through, therefore, even at the stage of drawings, the problem with ventilation, as well as water access to the greenhouse, is solved.

Material such as polycarbonate is easy to work with - a regular sharp knife will come in handy for cutting. If the material is used sparingly, then there will be less waste. The following tools and materials are useful for construction:

Advice! It is important to treat wood or metal products: wood with an antiseptic, and metal with an anti-corrosion agent.

Do-it-yourself polycarbonate greenhouse assembly for cucumbers looks like this:

  1. Foundation laying consists of digging a trench 0.5 m deep and 2 m wide. The length of the trench is the same as the length of the greenhouse.
  2. The trench is covered with sand and gravel, and a 25-30 cm layer of soil is placed on top.
  3. The insulating layer consists of a foil.
  4. The wooden base matches the size of the base. The base is fixed.
  5. Next, the racks are installed with a step of 1 m, which are attached to the base.

Sheathing of the frame with polycarbonate

The last step is attaching the polycarbonate. Due to the fragility of the material, metal washers must be placed under the screws.

First, they close the ends of the greenhouse and make a door. Then they begin to lay and attach the sheets on each side of the greenhouse.The work of making a polycarbonate borage greenhouse is not difficult and will hardly take more than one day, especially if there are assistants.

How to make a recessed greenhouse for cucumbers from old window frames with your own hands

Not everyone is familiar with a buried greenhouse for growing cucumbers. This is an easy-to-use greenhouse that allows you to please with the earliest harvest. The small size does not allow growing crops on an industrial scale, and inside it is quite cramped. But the high yields of the first crunchy cucumbers are worth it.

Here's what you need: a wooden beam, polycarbonate or a frame with glass, peat, straw, organic matter.

Digging and filling trenches with biofuel

Once the snow has melted, you can start digging a trench. The depth can be 50-60 cm, width - 80-100 cm. The length is chosen by the owner of the site. If the soil is sandy, it is advisable to strengthen the trench with boards.

Simple organic matter is laid in the trench: manure, sawdust, straw and the layer is tamped. Everything is covered with fertile soil of at least 25 cm. Then straw is scattered on top for thermal insulation and mulch.

Manufacturing of a box and laying of window frames

The box is made of solid materials at hand. To keep warm, it is important to sprinkle the outer wall with peat or bales of compressed straw. This will provide additional support for the frames. Old window frames with glass are simply laid on top of the greenhouse.

Heating the beds with hot water spill

In early spring, it is required to warm up the soil. To do this, you need to spill the soil with hot water, cover the ridge with a film and close all the frames. After 2-3 weeks, a reaction will occur between the heating soil and hot manure: both the soil and the air will warm up.

Attention! For such an early greenhouse, you need to choose the seeds of self-pollinated varieties and hybrids.

The greenhouse is actively used up to frost.
