Interpretation of Psalm 26

In the Septuagint and Vulgate, this psalm is preceded by the inscription: "Before the anointing." Also, a number of internal testimonies in the text speaks in favor of the fact that the psalm was written before David's anointing to the kingdom and, therefore, most likely, during the years of his persecution by Saul.

Ps. 26: 1 Here we see an expression of faith, strong and sincere, that delivers the believer from the fear of earthly calamities. Salvation is in the Lord, He is the strong foundation of life.

Ps. 26: 2-3 David portrays Saul's ecstatic anger against him as a desire to devour his flesh. But David's enemies who hunt him will stumble and fall. David hopes and believes that even a whole regiment of enemies will not defeat him, because the Lord is on his side.

Ps. 26: 4 David's love for the Lord is so high and deep that his main desire is to stay in the house of the Lord all the days of his life, that is, to have constant access to him in order to enjoy the spiritual beauty of worship (contemplate the beauty of the Lord). The "temple" in this verse refers to the tabernacle.

Ps. 26: 5-6 On the day of the calamity, David would find complete safety in the sanctuary (in the secret place of the village of God), because in the tabernacle the enemies could not capture or kill him. “He would have lifted me up to the rock” is an expression of the hope that the Lord will not leave His chosen one in the humiliating position of the persecuted, but will glorify and establish him (verse 5). The continuation of the same thought in verse 6 is complemented by the promise of praise and joyful singing in honor of the Lord.

Ps. 26: 7-10 Confident in the Lord's help, David nevertheless intensifies his prayer appeal to Him (verse 7); he understands that the desire to draw near to the Lord (to seek His face) is put into his heart by the Lord Himself (verse 8). And so David again and again asks Him not to turn away His face in anger (which David can accidentally cause in Him), so that He does not reject and leave His servant (verse 9). verse 10 can be seen as one of the internal testimonies that Psalm 26 was written by David before his coronation to the kingdom. He says here that his father and mother left him, implying, perhaps, that his relatives were afraid to show their love for him, because King Saul hated and persecuted him. But abandoned by them, David hopes that he will not be forsaken by the Lord.

Ps. 26: 11-14 The sincere, heartfelt prayer of the psalmist reaches its highest point here. He asks the Lord for purity and righteousness, because his enemies tempt him with their malice. But they will not be able to push him off the "path of righteousness", to force him to commit a crime (verse 11). In verses 12-14, David's plea for the Lord to protect him from the will of the deceitful and evil enemies (verse 12).

Verse 13 expresses the belief that the heavenly Protector will allow David to fully experience His goodness on the land of the living and will not allow his destruction (descent into Sheol, "the land of the dead").

In verse 14 the psalmist calls both himself and others to hope in the Lord, to be strengthened in Him.

"... And he will not explode with a bomb" (What the Elder Father John of Optina told me)

Sergei Alexandrovich Nilus with his wife Elena Alexandrovna came to the Optina Elder, Father John (Salov). The elder received with his usual joyful affection towards my wife and me.

Take a stool, - he said, hugging me, - sit down next to me. - What psalms do you read? - he asked me a question. I was embarrassed: usually on my short, purely mundane, not even a rule, but a rule, I did not read any psalms.

I know, - I replied, - "Alive in help", "Have mercy on me, God" ... - And what more! - Yes, father, I have read all the psalms and, even if not by heart, I know everything; but my little ruler ... The elder interrupted my self-justification: - Not about that I want to ask you, what is your rule, but about whether you are still reading Psalm 26 - “The Lord is my enlightenment? - No, father, I don’t read. - Well, I'll tell you what! You once told me that the enemy is shooting his arrows at you. Do not be afraid! not one will touch you, do not be afraid of any rubbish: rubbish will remain rubbish. Just take my advice as a rule, obey: read both of these psalms in the morning and in the evening before your prayer - the 26th and 90th, and before them is the great Archangel's joy - "Virgin Mary, rejoice." If you do this, neither fire will take you, nor water will drown you ... At these words, the old man got up from his chair, hugged me and with some special force, rolling loudly, did not even say, but shouted out: - I'll tell you more: will not explode with a bomb! I kissed the hand of the elder who hugged me. And he again, pressing himself to my very ear, again exclaimed loudly: “And the bomb will not explode! you. Well, now go with the Lord!

And with these words the elder dismissed us in peace. I knew that man, or, more precisely, the woman whom the elder was hinting at, calling her rubbish: she clung to the Optina splendid tree like lichen, and for a long time, with her false holiness and the name of the elders, fooled the Optina pilgrims. I understood her, and she took revenge on me wherever she could. God bless her! .. "And the bomb will not explode! .." Prediction of Fr. John (Salov) was exactly fulfilled during the civil war. According to the memoirs of M.V.Smirnova-Orlova, Elena Aleksandrovna told her that once, when she and her husband were driving under fire in a tarantass, a bomb exploded next to them, but they were not at all touched.

Arkhangelsk greeting to the Most Holy Theotokos

Virgin Mary, rejoice, Blessed Mary, the Lord is with you; blessed are you in women and blessed is the fruit of your womb, as you gave birth to our souls.

Psalm 26 (speaking of the believer's steadfastness in persecution and his comfort with the protection of the Lord)

The Lord is my enlightenment and my Savior, whom shall I fear? The Lord Protector of my belly, from whom shall I be afraid? Always approach the spiteful me, hedgehog to demolish my flesh, offend me and foil my, ti fatigue and fall. If a regiment takes up arms against me, my heart will not fear; If he raises against me, I will put my trust in Him. As I ask one from the Lord, then I will demand: live in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, see the beauty of the Lord and visit His holy temple. As if I hid me in His village on the day of my wickedness, covered me in the secret of His village, lifted me up on a stone. And now, behold, lift up my head against my enemies: the habit and devoured His sacrifice of praise and exclamation in the village; I sing and sing to the Lord. Hear, Lord, my voice, and they have cried, have mercy on me and hear me. My heart speaks to you: I will seek the Lord, I will seek for You my face, Your face, Lord, I will seek. Turn not Thy face away from me, and do not deviate with anger from Thy servant: Wake up my helper, do not reject me and do not leave me. God, my Savior. Like my father and my mother left me. The Lord will perceive me. Give me laws, O Lord, in Thy way, and guide me on the right path, my enemy, for my sake. Do not betray me into the souls of those who are in cold weather: as if you were a witness of unrighteousness on me, and a lie is untrue to yourself. I believe to see the good Lord in the land of the living. Be patient with the Lord, be of good courage, and let your heart be strong, and be patient with the Lord.

1 Alive in the help of the Most High, he will settle in the roof of the Heavenly God. 2 The Lord speaks: Thou art my protector and my refuge. My God, and I trust in Him. 3 Yako Toy will deliver thee from the snare of the hunter, and from the word of rebellion, 4 His splashes will overshadow thee, and hope under His krill: His truth will go round thee with arms. 5 Do not be afraid of the fear of the night, from an arrow flying in days, 6 from a thing in the darkness of a transitory, from a waste, and a demon of midday. 7 Thousands will fall from your land, and tma at your right hand will not come close to you, 8 both look at your eyes, and behold the reward of sinners. 9 As you, Lord, my hope, the Most High, you have laid your refuge. 10 Evil will not come to you, and the wound will not approach your body, 11 like His Angel commanded you to keep you in all your ways. 12 They will lift thee in their arms, but not when you have stumbled your foot on a stone, 13 step on an asp and a basilisk, and cross the lion and the serpent. 14 For I will trust in Me, and I will deliver and: I will cover it, as my name is known. 15 He will call on me, and I will answer him: I am with him in trouble, I will scour him, and I will glorify him; 16 I will fulfill him with long days, and I will show him my salvation.

Prayer to the Cross of the Lord

Protect me, Lord, with the power of the Honest and Life-giving Your Cross, and save me from all evil.

Elder Schema-Archimandrite Vitaly (in the world V.N.Sidorenko (1928-1992) was a pupil of the great elders of the Glinsk Hermitage. He stood out for his high spirituality, humility, obedience. Not from this world, the humble, meek shepherd was distinguished by a special gift of God: he healed the mentally ill and possessed ...

In memory of prayer, Schema-Archimandrite Vitaly left to Mother N. (who was his spiritual child for 30 years) a prayer for the blessing of the house. This prayer was read several times a day during bombing, besieging, and searches. And her house in one of the "hot" spots of the Caucasus, and the people in it did not suffer, when everything nearby and in the vicinity was burned, smashed, blown up.

Prayer for blessing at home

May the Almighty Merciful God the Father, God the Son, God the Holy Spirit bless and preserve us. O! sweetest Jesus Christ, Almighty King of Heaven and earth, Son of David, Jesus of Nazareth, crucified on the Cross for us, have mercy on this house, keep those who live in it.

May Your blessing of the Lord accompany them everywhere; may the Holy Spirit sanctify their thoughts and their hearts: His omnipotence is everywhere, in every place: everything that is in this house, who enters them and who leaves them, may the Holy Trinity bless and keep from all evil, so that nothing unclean will come near to them. Let the name of the Lord Jesus Christ with the nine ranks of Angels be in this house and give it its rest. May the Blessed Virgin Mary cover with her maternal veil; may the Holy Apostles protect him, may his welfare be confirmed and strengthened by the Holy Evangelists. The cross of our Lord Jesus Christ be his roof; the nails of our Lord Jesus Christ be his protection; the crown of our Lord Jesus Christ be his veil.

The Most Holy Virgin Mary, Holy Righteous Joseph and all the saints, Guardian Angels, pray to the Lord Jesus Christ, One of the Holy Trinity, may he save this house from thunder, lightning, fire, hail, flooding, from the attack of evil people, need, unbelief, heresy ( war) and any misfortune that threatens the soul and body: in which may God the Father, God the Son, God the Holy Spirit help us. Amen.

Grant, Lord, on this day (or this night) without sin to be preserved for us.

Lord have mercy (3 times).

Be, O Lord, Thy mercy on us, as a hope in Thee, O Lord. We trust in Ty, may we not be ashamed forever. Amen.

Prayer to Archangel Barachiel

Oh, the great Archangel of God, the Archangel Barachiel! Standing before the Throne of God and then bringing the blessing of God to the houses of God's faithful servants, ask the Lord God for mercy and blessings on our houses, may the Lord God bless us from Zion and from His Holy Mountain and increase the abundance of earthly fruits and give us health and salvation and in everything a good haste, victory and victory for the enemies, and will preserve us for many years, may we with one accord glorify God, the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, now and ever and forever and ever. Amen.

Rule read in peril

during the hostilities in Tbilisi, he gave his spiritual children a special rule to protect them from dangers. He advised in the morning, leaving the house, to read the 26th, 50th and 90th Psalms, and between them, at the beginning and at the end, one prayer "Virgin Mary, Rejoice."

He added, as his spiritual children recall: "After that, if a shell or a bullet explodes nearby, or a fire breaks out, no trouble will touch you."
"Read the 26, 50, 90 psalms, and the Lord and the Mother of God will give Their mercies."
Those who prayed so testify: “Whoever performed this was saved himself with his whole house».

Virgin Mary, rejoice, Blessed Mary, the Lord is with you; blessed are you in women and blessed is the fruit of your womb, as you gave birth to our souls.

Psalm 26

I believe to see the good Lord in the land of the living. Be patient with the Lord, be of good courage, and let your heart be strong, and be patient with the Lord.

Psalm 50

Have mercy on me, O God, according to Thy great mercy, and according to the multitude of Thy compassions, cleanse my iniquity. Wash me thoroughly from my iniquity, and cleanse me from my sin; for I know my iniquity, and I will take out my sin before me. You who have sinned, and evil in your sight, have I done, as if you were justified in your words, and conquer at all times to judge Ty. Behold, in transgressions I am conceived, and in sins bore me my mother. Behold, you loved the truth; Thy unknown and secret wisdom Thou hast revealed to me. Sprinkle me with hyssop, and I will be cleansed; wash me, and I will be whiter than snow. To my hearing dasi joy and gladness; the bones of the humble will rejoice. Turn away Thy face from my sins, and cleanse all my iniquity. Create a pure heart in me, O God, and renew the spirit of rights in my womb. Cast me not away from Thy presence, and take not Thy Holy Spirit from me. Give me the joy of Thy salvation and confirm me with the Spirit of the Lord. I will teach wickedness in Your way, and wickedness will turn to You. Deliver me from the blood, O God, God of my salvation; my tongue will rejoice in Thy righteousness. O Lord, open my mouth, and my mouth shall declare Thy praise. As if you would have wanted sacrifices, you would have given them: do not favor burnt offerings. The sacrifice to God the spirit is broken; a contrite and humble heart God will not despise. Bless, O Lord, with Thy good pleasure Zion, and may the walls of Jerusalem be built. Then favor the sacrifice of righteousness, the offering and the burnt offering; then they will lay calves on your altar.

Psalm 90

Living in the help of the Most High, he will settle in the roof of the Heavenly God. The Lord speaks: Thou art my Protector and my Refuge, my God, and I trust in Him. Yako Toy will deliver thee from the hunter's net and from the word of rebellion, His splash will overshadow thee, and under His krill you hope: His truth will go round you with a weapon. Do not be afraid of the fear of the night, from the arrow flying in days, from the thing in the darkness of the transitory, from the crumbling, and the demon of the midday. Thousands will fall from your country, and tma at your right hand will not come close to you, both look at your eyes and see the reward of sinners. As Thou, Lord, my hope, the Most High, Thou hast laid thy refuge. Evil will not come to you, and the wound will not approach your body, as with His Angel the commandment about you, keep you in all your ways. They will take you in their arms, but not when you knock your foot on a stone, step on an asp and a basilisk and cross the lion and the serpent. For I will trust in Me, and I will deliver and: I will cover and, as My name is known. He will call to Me, and I will hear him: I am with him in sorrow, I will be with him and I will glorify him;

For our readers: Psalm 26 is the text of the prayer with detailed descriptions from various sources.

Psalm to David before the anointing

Psalm of David. Before the anointing.

1 The Lord is my enlightenment and my Savior, whom shall I fear? The Lord Protector of my belly, from whom shall I be afraid?

1 The Lord is my enlightenment and my Savior; whom shall I fear? The Lord is the protector of my life: from whom shall I be afraid?

2 Always come nearer to me wicked, hedgehog to demolish my flesh, offend me and foil my, ti fatigue and fall.

2 When evildoers drew near to me to eat my flesh, my oppressors and my enemies, they themselves were weak and fell.

3 If the regiment takes up arms against me, my heart will not fear, if it rises against me to fight, I will trust in Him.

3 If a regiment is formed against me, my heart will not fear; if war rises on me, and at the same time I hope.

4 As I ask one from the Lord, I will demand: I live in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, see the beauty of the Lord and visit His holy temple.

4 I asked the Lord for one thing, this I will seek, in order to dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, to contemplate the beauty of the Lord and visit His holy temple.

5 As for hiding me in his village on the day of my wickedness, covering me in the secret of his village, lift me up on a stone.

5 For He hid me in His abode in the day of my distress, He kept me secret in His Tabernacle, He lifted me up on a rock.

6 And now, behold, you have lifted up my head against my enemies: the habit and devoured in His village the sacrifice of praise and exclamation, I sing and sing to the Lord.

6 And now, behold, He has exalted my head against my enemies: I went around His tabernacle, and sacrificed in it a sacrifice of praise and exclamation; I will sing and praise the Lord!

7 Hear, O Lord, my voice, and they cried out: have mercy on me and hear me.

8 To you my heart speaks, I will seek the Lord. I will seek Thy face, Thy face, O Lord, I will seek.

8 My heart has told you: "I will seek the Lord." My face has sought Thee; Thy face, O Lord, I will seek.

9 Do not turn your face away from me, and do not turn away with anger from your servant: wake up my helper, do not reject me, and do not leave me, O God my Savior.

9 Turn not Thy face away from me, nor turn away in anger from Thy servant. Be my helper, do not deny me and do not leave me, O God, my Savior.

10 As my father and my mother have left me, the Lord will receive me.

10 For my father and my mother have forsaken me, but the Lord has received me.

11 Give me laws, O Lord, in your way, and guide me on the right path, my enemy for the sake of it.

11 Give me the law, O Lord, on Thy path, and guide me on the straight path for the sake of my enemies.

12 Do not betray me in the souls of those who are in cold weather, as if you are a witness of unrighteousness on me, and a lie is not true to yourself.

12 Do not betray me to the souls that oppress me, for unrighteous witnesses have risen up against me - but unrighteousness deceived itself.

13 I believe to see the good Lord in the land of the living.

13 I believe that I will see the good of the Lord in the land of the living.

14 Suffer the Lord, be of good courage, and let your heart be strong, and suffer the Lord.

14 Trust in the Lord! Take courage, and let Your heart be strengthened, and hope in the Lord!

The life of a modern person is always full of dangers, which are not avoided even by Orthodox Christians. To protect us from a variety of troubles and misfortunes, the Lord God, by His grace, has given us many ways. This is a pectoral cross, which an Orthodox person never takes off under any circumstances, this is holy water, and prosphora, and the sign of the cross. But the most important weapon of the believer against any forces of evil has always been and will be prayer. A sincere appeal to God, coming from the very heart and combined with pure faith, can literally work miracles, for which there is a lot of documentary evidence. How should you pray for protection from evil? There are many texts, one of which is Psalm 26.

What is a psalm and when can it be read?

Psalm translated from Greek means "song of praise". This is a special kind of chant that came to us from the Old Testament. These texts were written by King David, and their collection was included in the Old Testament under the title of the book of Psalms.

King david

With the translation of the Psalter from Hebrew into Greek, the Psalms began to be actively used in Christian liturgical practice. To this day, these ancient texts are often read in church services. Also, many Christians read the Psalter at home, as part of their prayer rule, or in any particular life circumstances.

Since there are many chants, a certain practice of reading certain texts has developed in certain life circumstances. So, it is customary to read Psalm 26 to protect against evil forces. In any danger, you can resort to this strong spiritual help, namely:

  • life threatening;
  • health threat;
  • attacks of evil spirits and unclean forces;
  • anger or anger emanating from enemies.

Many Orthodox elders spoke of the great protective power of these texts in any trouble. Thus, Ambrose Optinsky, in one of his letters to his spiritual son, who took part in hostilities, strongly recommended reading Psalm 26 with the belief that no bullet would hurt the reader.

Ambrose Optinsky

In addition, there is testimony from many Christian believers who have experienced the power of prayer. As you know, in war, many people discover God for themselves, because they constantly see death and they themselves can perish at any moment.

Interesting: the reading of protective prayers saved the lives of many people who, with sincere faith, turned to the Lord and asked for his protection.

Many may wonder what the words “before the anointing” in the title of the text mean. This designation suggests that the text was written by David before he was anointed to the kingdom. This anointing was performed by the prophet Samuel, according to the ancient tradition of those days. The very words of prayer are quite simple to understand and say that the Lord God will not leave without his protection and help a single person who will come to him with a pure heart and sincere faith.

How to read Psalm 26 to David correctly

As for the external form of reading, it presupposes a breakdown of the text into component parts, between which praise to God is read, as well as prayers for the health of relatives and friends. Despite the fact that the book of Psalms is included in the Bible, for prayer reading it is better to take a text from a special prayer book. There it will already be divided into all the necessary parts and it will be clear to the person praying in what place a particular text should be read.

Psalter spread

When starting to read a song of praise for protection from evil forces, one should not forget that in Orthodoxy there is no magic or any purely external protective rites. It is completely useless and even mentally harmful to read such prayers only for the purpose of formal protection. Moreover, some impious people may try with the help of such texts to somehow take revenge on their enemies, "return" the harm done to them, or harm them in some other way. Such actions are completely unacceptable from the point of view of Orthodoxy, since the Christian faith presupposes love and mercy even for enemies. If suddenly, out of ignorance, any of the novice Christians tried such practices, such a person must necessarily repent of the perfect, go to confession with a priest or confessor.

There is no difference in the power of prayer, it is just that new-born Christians often find it difficult and incomprehensible to the ancient language that is used in churches. In such cases, you can take a prayer book in Russian and read from there. It is much more important to understand what is being read and the inner involvement of the prayer in the process than external formal proofreading in one language or another.

Perhaps the most important rule that should be remembered when reading any prayers is that it is not the text itself that protects against evil forces. You cannot treat psalms as conspiracies or magic spells that must be correctly subtracted for the desired effect. Only the Lord God helps people, and any prayer is communication with Him and an appeal to Him. That is why it makes no sense to read anything without a sincere desire to change your life and build it according to the Christian doctrine.

Psalm 26 text

The Lord is my enlightenment and my Savior, whom shall I fear? The Lord Protector of my belly, from whom shall I be afraid? Always approach the spiteful me, hedgehog to tear down my flesh, offend me, and foil mine, ti fatigue and fall. If the regiment takes up arms against me, my heart will not fear, if it rises against me, I trust in Him.

As I ask one from the Lord, then I will demand: live in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, see the beauty of the Lord and visit His holy temple. As if I hid me in His village on the day of my wickedness, covered me in the secret of His village, lifted me up on a stone. And now, behold, you have lifted up my head against my enemies: haunted and devoured His sacrifice of praise and exclamation in the village, I sing and sing to the Lord.

Hear, O Lord, my voice, and they cried out: have mercy on me and hear me. My heart speaks to you, I will seek the Lord. I will seek Thy face, Thy face, O Lord, I will seek. Do not turn your face away from me and do not shrink from your servant in anger: wake up my helper, do not reject me, and do not leave me, O God, my Savior. As my father and my mother have left me, the Lord will perceive me.

Give me laws, O Lord, in Thy path and guide me on the right path, my enemy for the sake of. Do not betray me into the souls of those who are cold, as if you were a witness of unrighteousness and a lie is untrue to yourself. I believe to see the good Lord in the land of the living. Suffer the Lord, be of good courage, and let your heart be strong, and suffer the Lord. Glory to the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. Amen.

For Christians of all times, special prayers, composed many centuries ago, do not lose their relevance. They are called psalms because they used to be performed to the accompaniment of a stringed instrument (psalter). When are they read? Psalm 26, for example, has a strong protective property.

How Prayer Can Help

In total, the book of the Bible of the same name contains more than a hundred prayers, they differ in subject matter, the number of lines. Therefore, there is a tradition according to which certain psalms help in different circumstances.

  • Protect against creditors.
  • Helps get rid of fears.
  • With their help, you can improve family relationships.
  • Believers find their own homes, solve problems with work.

All human life can be arranged by the Lord if there is sincere faith in the heart. She alone brings to life the words written by King David.

Psalm 26 in Russian

1. A psalm of David. The Lord is my light and my salvation: whom should I fear? The Lord is the strength of my life: whom should I fear?
2. If evildoers, my adversaries, and my enemies come on me to devour my flesh, they themselves will stumble and fall.
3. If a regiment takes up arms against me, my heart will not fear; if a war rises on me, and then I will hope.
4. One thing I asked of the Lord, that I only seek, so that I may abide in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, contemplate the beauty of the Lord and visit His temple,
5. for He would hide me in His tabernacle in the day of calamity, He would hide me in the secret place of His village, He would take me up to the rock.
6. Then my head would be lifted up above the enemies around me; and I would offer sacrifices of praise in His tabernacle, and I would sing and chant before the Lord.
7. Hear, O Lord, my voice, which I cry, have mercy on me and listen to me.
8. My heart speaks from You: “Seek my face”; and I will seek Thy face, Lord.
9. Hide not Thy face from me; cast not away Thy servant in anger. You were my helper; do not reject me and do not leave me, O God, my Savior!
10. For my father and my mother have left me, but the Lord will receive me.
11. Teach me, O Lord, Thy ways and guide me on the path of righteousness, for the sake of my enemies;
12. Do not deliver me to the will of my enemies, for lying witnesses have risen up against me and breathe anger.
13. But I believe that I will see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living.
14. Trust in the Lord, be of good courage, and let your heart be strengthened, and hope in the Lord.
(Psalm 26: 1-14)

How to read psalm 26 correctly

There are situations when a person is attacked by unclean spirits. They instill in the soul and mind of man a desire to deviate from God's laws. Then the wise holy fathers recommend reading the text of the 26th Psalm - in Russian or Church Slavonic, this does not play a decisive role.

If you do this on a daily basis, the attacks will soon subside and stop altogether. Only prayer should be constant - at least for a month. There is a known case when the reading of the 26th, 90th and 50th psalms saved a famous writer and his family during a bombing (during the Second World War). The famous Elder John from Optina Hermitage advised him to read these prayers.

So the prayer of Psalm 26 saves not only from spiritual invisible enemies, but also from those who are trying to harm Christians in the physical world. What does it say? Any Orthodox who has attended services has repeatedly heard these sublime lines. They say that the Lord is the main protector of life. And since He is great, Christians have no one to fear, either in this life or in eternity.

The author with these words not only defends himself, but also glorifies the Creator of the universe, demonstrating to his enemies that he has firm hope and support. The text will become more understandable if we imagine the difficult and dangerous fate of King David until the time when he had not yet become the heir to the throne. After all, his predecessor wanted to destroy the young man, because he was afraid of his claims to the throne.

In his heart, the believer wants only one thing - to glorify the greatness of the Lord, visiting the temple, to observe His beauty and perfection. Thus, everyone must find the love of God in himself, then no enemy will be afraid!

Psalms 26, 50, 90 and Praise to the Mother of God - protection when attacked by enemies

"... and will not explode with a bomb"

“Human life is worth less and less ... It has become scary to live - there is danger from all sides. Any of us can be robbed, humiliated, killed. Realizing this, people try to defend themselves; someone gets a dog, someone buys a weapon, someone turns a dwelling into a fortress.

The fear of our time has not escaped the Orthodox either. How to protect yourself and your loved ones? - believers often ask. Our main protection is the Lord Himself, without His Holy Will, as the Scriptures say, and a hair will not fall from our head (Luke 21, 18).

God has given us the greatest shrines to defend against visible enemies. This is, first of all, a Christian shield - a pectoral cross that should not be removed under any circumstances. Secondly, holy water and artos, eaten every morning "

(Hegumen Pakhomiy (Bruskov).

Christians are also kept by prayer, by which God sends us His all-powerful help ...

Arkhangelsk greeting to the Most Holy Theotokos:

Virgin Mary, rejoice, Blessed Mary, the Lord is with you; blessed are you in women and blessed is the fruit of your womb, as you gave birth to our souls.

Psalm 26:

Psalm 50:

Psalm 90:

Living in the help of the Most High, he will settle in the roof of the Heavenly God. The Lord speaks: Thou art my Protector and my Refuge, my God, and I trust in Him. Yako Toy will deliver thee from the hunter's net and from the word of rebellion, His splash will overshadow thee, and under His krill you hope: His truth will go round you with a weapon. Do not be afraid of the fear of the night, from the arrow flying in days, from the thing in the darkness of the transitory, from the crumbling, and the demon of the midday. Thousands will fall from your country, and tma at your right hand will not come close to you, both look at your eyes and see the reward of sinners. As Thou, Lord, my hope, the Most High, Thou hast laid thy refuge. Evil will not come to you, and the wound will not approach your body, as with His Angel the commandment about you, keep you in all your ways. They will take you in their arms, but not when you knock your foot on a stone, step on an asp and a basilisk and cross the lion and the serpent. For I will trust in Me, and I will deliver and: I will cover and, as My name is known. He will call to Me, and I will hear him: I am with him in sorrow, I will be with him and I will glorify him;

Sergei Nilus writes about what Elder John Optinsky told him

Sergei Alexandrovich Nilus with his wife Elena Alexandrovna came to the Optina Elder, Father John (Salov).

“The elder received with his usual joyful affection towards my wife and me.

Take a stool, - he said, hugging me, - sit next to me.

What psalms do you read? - he asked me a question. I was embarrassed: usually on my short, purely mundane, not even a rule, but a rule, I did not read any psalms.

I know, - I answered, - "Alive in help", "Have mercy on me, God" ...

And what more!

Yes, father, I have read all the psalms and, even if not by heart, I know everything; but my little one ...

The elder interrupted my self-justification:

Not about what I want to ask you, what is your rule, but about whether you are still reading Psalm 26 - “The Lord is my enlightenment?

No, sir, I don’t read.

Well, I'll tell you what! You once told me that the enemy is shooting his arrows at you. Do not be afraid! not one will touch you, do not be afraid of any rubbish: rubbish will remain rubbish. Just take my advice as a rule, obey: read both of these psalms, the 26th and 90th, in the morning and evening before your prayer, and before them is the great Archangel's joy - "Virgin Mary, rejoice." If you do this, neither fire will take you, nor water will drown you ...

At these words, the elder got up from his chair, embraced me and with some special force, rolling loudly, did not even say, but shouted:

I'll tell you more: it won't explode with a bomb! I kissed the hand of the elder who hugged me. And he again, pressing himself to my very ear, again exclaimed loudly:

And the bomb will not explode! * And do not pay attention to all sorts of rubbish: what can rubbish do to you? ... So, that's what I wanted to talk to you about.

According to the memoirs of MV Smirnova-Orlova, Elena Aleksandrovna told her that once, when she and her husband were driving under fire in a tarantass, a bomb exploded next to them, but they were not at all touched. "

http://www.liveinternet.ru/users/3561375/post120714868/ And here the words of Elder John are conveyed like this: “You once told me that the enemy is shooting his arrows at you. Do not be afraid! None of you will touch you; Do not be afraid of any rubbish, rubbish will remain rubbish. Just take my advice as a rule and obey: read both of these psalms in the morning and in the evening before your prayer: 26 and 90, and before them is the great Archangel's joy: “Virgin Mary, rejoice ...” You will do this, neither fire will take you, nor water will not sink ... will not explode with a bomb ”

LORD GOD, MOTHER OF GOD, ARCHISTRATICIAN OF THE HEAVENLY ARMY MICHAEL, HOLY NICHOLAS THE WONDERWORKER AND THE MARTYR GYORGE THE VICTOR, WE PLEASE FOR THE SALVATION AND PRESERVATION OF ALL OF CHRISTMAS!

I propose to all Orthodox Christians in this very difficult and fateful time for the whole world to strictly pray to the Lord, Theotokos, Archangel Michael, St. Nicholas of Myr-Lycia, the Great Martyr George and all the saints for the salvation of Russia and all Christian countries, for deliverance from the intrigues of the enemy, oh educating, reconciling and preserving their powers, peoples and armies from all evil.

For the cell rule, the beginning is the usual: “HEAVENLY KING” (from Easter to Ascension, instead of this prayer, the troparion is read three times “Christ is risen from the dead ...”, and from Ascension to Trinity, start the prayer immediately from the Trisagion), THIRTY according to OUR FATHER, Psalm 50 -th, the Symbol of Faith and of course - the troparion to the Cross "Save, Lord, Thy people ...".

You can add reading from any standard "Prayer Book" of the troparians and kontakions "On the multiplication of love and the eradication of hatred and all malice", "On those who hate and offend us", "In times of calamity and during the attack of enemies", "For unbelievers, persecutors and scorners of faith ”, As well as Psalms 26th and 90th (see above for their text), and other psalms, if desired and given.

Save, Lord, have mercy and save Russia, and all Christian countries, and all Orthodox Christians (and all Christians suffering and persecuted for faith in Christ and the Gospel) from all evil, and from enemies visible and invisible!

Most Holy Theotokos, Our Sovereign Lady, save us sinners!

Archangel of God Michael with all Heavenly Powers, pray to God for the salvation of us sinners!

Saint Father Nicholas, great miracle worker, pray to God for the salvation of us sinners!

Holy great martyr and victorious George, pray to God for the salvation of us sinners!

Our guardian angels and all saints, pray to God for the salvation of us sinners!

Troparion in honor of the miraculous Sovereign Icon of the Most Holy Theotokos, voice 4:

“The angels' faces worship You with reverence, and all the Heavenly Powers silently pleasing the voices of Thee, Virgin Mary, we earnestly pray to Thee, Lady: may Divine grace abide on an honest icon of Thy Sovereign, and a radiant ray of glory of Thy miracles may descend from her to all, with faith praying and crying to God: Hallelujah! "

Kontakion in honor of the miraculous Sovereign Icon of the Most Holy Theotokos, voice 8 (compiled by Saint Tikhon, Patriarch of All Russia, shortly after the acquisition of this holy icon in the village of Kolomenskoye):

“To the chosen Voevoda, the Intercessor of our Sovereign Song of thanksgiving, we bring us about the granting of her holy icon to us; At the same time, we rejoice today and celebrate with light, as if the Sovereign had come to guard His land ”.

(In this kontakion, the priestly confessor Patriarch Tikhon has a deep mystical meaning that “our salvation is not from man,” but only through the intercession of the Mother of God!)

Troparion in honor of the miraculous icon of the Mother of God “Softening Evil Hearts” (“Seven-shot”), voice 5:

“Soften our evil hearts, Mother of God, and quench the misfortunes of those who hate us, and resolve every tightness of our souls, looking at Your holy image, We are touched by Your suffering and mercy and we kiss Your wounds; Do not grant us, Merciful Mother, to perish in our cruelty and from the cruelty of our neighbors. Thou art truly the softening of evil hearts. "

Prayer before the miraculous icon of the Mother of God “Softening Evil Hearts” (“Seven-shot”):

“Oh, the long-suffering Mother of God, surpassing all the daughters of the earth, in her purity and in the multitude of sufferings that you transferred to the earth! Accept our painful sighs and preserve us under the roof of Your mercy. We do not have any other refuge and warm intercession, unless You, but as if you have boldness for the One who was born from You, help and save us with Your prayers, so that we will unambiguously reach the Kingdom of Heaven, where, with all the saints, we will sing in the Trinity to the One God, now and forever , and forever and ever. Amen."

(As you know, six years ago, when Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia was elected, the icon of the Most Holy Theotokos "Seven-shot" was pacified in the Cathedral of Christ the Savior, and I think that this is a sign of the Mother of God to us sinners so that we soften our evil hearts and love each other , according to the commandment of the Lord and the prayerful help of the Blessed Virgin Mary; see the note 2009. “Myrrh streaming at the Cathedral”: Archangel Michael, voice 4:

"Heavenly armies to the Archangel, / we always pray to thee, unworthy, / yes, with your prayers protect us / with a shelter krill your immaterial glory, / keeping us crouching diligently and crying: / save us from troubles, // as the ruler of higher powers."

Kontakion of Archangel Michael, voice 2:

"To the Archangel of God, / to the servant of Divine glory, / to the chief angels and mentor of men, / ask us for useful and great mercy, // like incorporeal Archangels."

Prayer to Archangel Michael:

“Oh, Saint Michael the Archangel, the bright and formidable Heavenly King, voivode! Before the Last Judgment, weaken me to repent of my sins, deliver my soul from the snare of those who catch me and bring it to the created God, sitting on the Cherubimech, and pray for it diligently, so that by your intercession I will send it to the resting place. O formidable voivode of the Heavenly Forces, the representative of all at the Throne of the Lord Christ, the keeper of the strong by all man and the wise armorer, the strong voivode of the Heavenly King! Have mercy on me, a sinner, demanding your intercession, save me from all visible and invisible enemies, moreover, reinforce me from the horror of the mortal and from the confusion of the devil, and grant me the shameless appearance of our Creator in the hour of His terrible and righteous Judgment. O all-holy great Michael the Archangel! Do not despise me, a sinner, praying to you for your help and your intercession, in all this and in the future, but grant me there together with you to glorify the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit forever and ever. Amen."

Troparion to Saint Nicholas the great saint of God, voice 4:

“The rule of faith and the image of meekness, abstinence of the teacher, reveal the truth to your flock even more than things: for this sake you have acquired high humility, rich in poverty. Father Superior Nicholas, pray to Christ God that our souls be saved. "

Kontakion to Saint Nicholas the great saint of God, voice 3:

“In Mirekh, holy, the priest appeared to be: Christ's more, venerable, having fulfilled the Gospel, you laid down your soul about your people, and you saved the innocent from death; For this reason, thou art sanctified, as the great mystery of God's grace. "

(Archangel Michael and St. Nicholas the Wonderworker are especially beloved saints of the Orthodox Russian people.)

WE WILL ALSO BE SURE TO PRAY TO THE HOLY MARTYR GEORGE, THE PATRON OF THE CHRIST-LOVING ARMY AND THE MOSCOW STATE, WHAT IS THE WITNESS AND HIS ICON, PLACED IN ANCIENT IN THE ORESHOUS RUSSIAN GREATS

Troparion to Saint George the Victorious, voice 4:

“You fought a good deed, George the Passion-suffering of Christ, and for the sake of faith you exposed the wickedness of the torturers: the sacrifice was favorable to God, you were offered. In the same way, thou hast received victory in the crown, and with your prayers, holy, yours, give everyone forgiveness of sins. "

Another troparion to Saint George the Victorious, the same voice:

"Like a captive liberator, and a defender of the poor, a weak doctor, an Orthodox champion, victorious Great Martyr George, pray to Christ God, save our souls."

Kontakion to Saint George the Victorious, voice 4:

"I was cultivated from God, the most honest worker of piety seemed to be, having collected the handles of virtues: sowing more in tears, reaping joy: having suffered with blood, you accepted Christ: and with your prayers, holy, yours, give everyone forgiveness of sins."

Holy Mother of God, save us! The ending is usual: “IT IS WORTHY” (from Easter to Ascension, instead of this prayer, the chorus and irmos of the 9th canon of the Easter canon “An angel cries out more gracefully ... Shine, shine, new Jerusalem ...” is read) and let go. AMEN
