What is an amplipulse for a child? Amplipulse therapy. Using the method for diseases of the joints and back

Many of us have encountered osteochondrosis and know what consequences this disease entails. But modern medicine can offer many ways to combat it. Osteochondrosis is treated mainly comprehensively, using various techniques, including physiotherapy. Amplipulse is one of them. It is developed taking into account the specifics of osteochondrosis and is used as a concomitant method.

Amplipulse therapy affects lesions with modulated sinusoidal currents. It is used as a method of treatment, prevention and rehabilitation of osteochondrosis. However, its wide spectrum of action allows the described method to be used for neuralgia, joint injuries, neuritis, damage to peripheral nerves, etc.

The procedures are carried out using Amplipulse devices of various modifications. The first of them, like the methodology itself, were created back in 1963 by Soviet scientists: engineer M. A. Ravich and professor V. G. Yasnogorodsky.

Application of amplipulse therapy

Thanks to the physiotherapeutic effects, this technique has a positive effect on the body as a whole and provides a number of therapeutic effects:

  • relieves pain;
  • activates the work of the vasomotor center;
  • relieves spasms;
  • dilates blood vessels;
  • increases tissue trophism;
  • conducts neurostimulation.

Amplipulse for osteochondrosis also helps to increase venous outflow and arterial blood flow, absorption and delivery of nutrients; activates metabolism, stimulates the resorption and destruction of infiltrates.

When using the described physiotherapy procedure, reparative processes are enhanced and swelling is reduced. The currents used in the devices cause rhythmic muscle contraction, which increases the tone of the intestines, bladder, ureter, and biliary tract.

If osteochondrosis is diagnosed, amplipulse therapy is prescribed to relieve severe pain and enhance the effect of medications. In this case, the cartilage tissue receives nutrients in the required quantities, metabolic processes return to normal, and muscle tone increases.

Contraindications

Amplipulse therapy, like any method, has limitations for use, in the presence of which the doctor must inform the patient and refuse to prescribe the procedure. These include the following:

  • likelihood of bleeding;
  • angina attacks;
  • inflammation of any etiology;
  • high body temperature;
  • thrombophlebitis;
  • circulatory disorders;
  • problems with the cardiovascular system;
  • varicose veins;
  • cholelithiasis;
  • hypertension;
  • tuberculosis;
  • pregnancy;
  • violation of muscle integrity;
  • individual intolerance to the effects of current.

Thus, there are many contraindications to the use of amplipulse. In this regard, it is important for the doctor to take into account all factors, assessing the expected benefits and harms of the procedure in order to avoid the development of possible complications.

The procedure is carried out with the patient sitting or lying down, depending on the location of the affected areas. The Amplipulse device has rectangular electrodes, which are applied to the sore spot and fixed with special bags of sand.

During the procedure, the patient is advised to completely relax the muscles if possible. The degree of exposure to current is adjusted depending on the patient’s sensations. When the device operates, a person feels muscle contractions and slight vibration at the places where the electrodes are attached.

Typically the course includes from 10 to 15 procedures. The duration of one session ranges from 20 minutes to 1 hour.

This physiotherapeutic method is absolutely painless, so there is no need to worry if it is prescribed.

Safety precautions

Before using the device, the potentiometer knob must be in the “Off” position, and the voltage adjustment lever must be in the “Control” position.

Operating rules and sequence of actions.

  1. During the procedure, you need to change the position of the keys and levers only when the current is turned off.
  2. When affecting the neck and face areas, set the current to the minimum values.
  3. Based on the patient's pain, apply tension slowly and smoothly.
  4. At the slightest sign of malfunction, completely de-energize the device.
  5. On a regular basis, monitor and visually inspect the insulation for its integrity, check the condition of the electrodes and their polarity.
  6. Any maintenance of the device must be carried out under the condition that it is disconnected from the power supply.
  7. During the first procedure of the course, set minimum indicators. In the future, gradually increase the intensity of the current, but taking into account the sensations and well-being of the patient.

The "Amplipulse" device is a universal multifunctional device for therapeutic effects; sinusoidal modulated currents in alternating and rectified (direct) mode. The device has four independent channels, which allows you to simultaneously influence four procedural fields. The device also provides an electropuncture mode, which allows you to influence biologically active points with sinusoidal modulated SMT currents.

The main types of therapeutic effects of SMT:

Analgesic effect;

Vasodilator effect;

Hypotensive effect;

Anti-inflammatory effect;

Anti-edema effect;

Absorbing action;

Trophy-stimulating effect;

Stimulation of striated and smooth muscles.

Differentiated therapeutic application of various types of influence involves the use of SMT of different frequencies and depths of modulation, contrast of current impulses, as well as the ratio of the time of current impulses and pauses.

SMT with a high modulation frequency (80-100 Hz) is used for acute clinical symptoms (severe pain syndrome, irritation of sympathetic nerve formations, autonomic-vascular disorders, exudation phenomena during inflammation), for spasms of blood vessels and internal hollow organs, when affecting head area, reflexogenic zones.

The use of SMT with a modulation frequency of 30-50 Hz is intended for the treatment of subacute and chronic diseases (moderate pain syndrome (in the absence of sympathalgia), degenerative-dystrophic processes, stimulation of proliferative processes, hypotrophy phenomena.

Frequencies of 10-20 Hz, which have a pronounced irritating effect, are used to stimulate motor and sensory tissue elements.

By reducing the duration of the current transmission and the depth of modulation, the irritating effect of the current decreases. Increasing the duration of the current sending and the depth of modulation has a more intense stimulating effect (electrical stimulation during the processes of denervation of peripheral neuritis).

The presence of a rectified mode of operation of the device allows electrophoresis of various medicinal substances simultaneously on four procedural fields. The largest amount of medicinal substances per procedure is transferred when using 1 and 4 types of work (1 and 4 types of influence) in a single-channel mode and when using a ring mode (6 and 7 types of influence).

The operating period of the channels is from 4 to 16 seconds. The 6th type of influence is used, the 2nd type of work, the modulation frequency for intact muscles is 100 Hz, for damaged muscles - 20-30 Hz, depth 50-75%, current strength - until a distinct muscle contraction is obtained.

The duration of the procedure is 10-25 minutes. It is advisable to carry out the procedures 2 times a day.

To obtain a faster effect, it is advisable to combine the effect on the area of the extremities with the effect of SMT of the same parameters on the area of the corresponding segments of the spinal cord.

Obesity treatment method
(exogenous-constitutional)

Treatment of obesity consists of a complex of measures, including diet therapy, drug therapy, physical therapy, psychotherapy, physiotherapy and massage. Physiotherapeutic measures come down to the appointment of procedures that help stimulate metabolic processes and activate lipolysis processes.

Traditionally, hydrotherapy and low-frequency pulsed currents are used for these purposes on the area of greatest deposition of adipose tissue. When using traditional amplipulse therapy devices, the procedure is quite labor-intensive and often requires a significant amount of time. When working with the Amplipulse-7 device in a ring mode, the time spent on the procedure is significantly reduced and the effectiveness of treatment increases.

1st procedural field - paravertebral to the area of the lumbar spine, 2nd field - to the area of the gluteal muscles and posterolateral surfaces of the thighs on the left and right (the method of applying transverse or transverse-diagonal electrodes) to the area of the largest fat deposits, 3rd field - the anterior area abdominal wall.

Variable mode, ring method of connecting electrodes. Channels are connected according to field numbering. Type of impact - 6, type of work - 2. Modulation frequency 100 Hz, modulation depth - 100%. The period of current passage is 4-8 s. Current strength until a distinct vibration is felt. The duration of the procedure is 25 minutes. The course consists of 15-20 procedures. In cases where a positive result is achieved, periodic repetition of treatment is recommended. The interval between courses is selected individually.

Method of treatment of atonic state of intestinal muscles

The effect of SMT on the intestinal muscle area helps to increase intestinal tone and motility, and also has a tonic effect on the functional state of the nervous system.

Variable mode, ring method of connecting electrodes. Electrodes of 1 procedural field are applied to the area of the sacral spine paravertebrally, 2 - to the area of the anterior abdominal wall in the area of the ascending colon, 3 - to the area of the anterior abdominal wall in the area of the transverse colon, 4 - to the area of the anterior abdominal walls in the region of the descending colon. The connection of channels corresponds to the numbering of procedural fields.

Type of impact - 6, type of work 2, modulation frequency - 10-20 Hz, modulation depth - 100%. The period of current passage is 8-16 s. Current strength - until distinct but painless contractions of the abdominal wall muscles are obtained under the electrodes.

The duration of the procedure is 15 minutes. Procedures are carried out daily, the total number of them per course is from 8 to 15.

Treatment method for bronchopulmonary diseases

(chronic bronchitis and pneumonia, prolonged course

o pneumonia in the presence of an asthmatic component)

In the presence of a concomitant disease - osteochondrosis of the cervical and thoracic spine, this technique using the ring mode is especially effective.

Electrodes of 1 procedural field are applied to the region of the lower cervical and upper thoracic vertebrae paravertebrally, 2 - in the interscapular region, 3 - to the region of the lower thoracic and upper lumbar vertebrae paravertebrally. The electrodes of the 4th procedural field can be connected to the electrodes of the 2nd procedural field to enhance the therapeutic effect or be applied to the sternum area. Variable mode 7 type of influence 5 type of work, modulation frequency - 80 Hz, modulation depth 75-100%. The period of current passage is 10 s. The current strength is up to the sensation of pronounced vibration.

The duration of the procedure is 10-15 minutes. Procedures are carried out daily or every other day. A course of 10-15 procedures.

To enhance the bronchodrainage effect, it is advisable to carry out amplipulse phoresis of aminophylline in a straightened mode from the electrodes of the 2nd procedural field.

Carrying out the effects of SMT is contraindicated in the presence of a pronounced inflammatory process, accompanied by a significant increase in temperature.

Methods for the treatment of chronic inflammatory diseases of the uterus and appendages complicated by infertility.

As a result of inadequate treatment of chronic inflammatory diseases of the uterus and especially the appendages, obliteration (complete or partial) of the fallopian tubes, as well as peritubar adhesions, can occur. All of these pathological disorders lead to the development of infertility in young women. In this case, it is necessary to carry out electrical stimulation with pulsed currents to activate the resorption of adhesive and obliterative processes and stimulate the kinetic activity of the fallopian tubes.

INDICATIONS for electrical stimulation: chronic inflammatory diseases of the uterus and appendages in remission with impaired reproductive function (infertility).

CONTRAINDICATIONS. General to electropulse therapy:

Note.

If during electrical stimulation an exacerbation of the inflammatory process occurs or pain appears, then you should switch to the method of electrical pulse therapy recommended for the treatment of adnexitis. In the absence of a vaginal cavity electrode, you can use the location of the electrodes as indicated in the method of treating chronic pain. adnexitis, but dosage the parameters using the electrical stimulation method.

During stimulation and after it for 1.5 months, a woman should use contraception to prevent ectopic pregnancy.

Method of treatment of chronic prostatitis.

Chronic prostatitis is characterized by damage to the glandular and connective tissue of the prostate gland. The development of the disease is mainly dominated by the infectious inflammatory process, but allergic disorders play a certain role. Prostatitis may occur against the background of prostate atony and as a result of stagnation of secretions in the prostate, posterior urethritis, and endocrine disorders. The torpid course of the disease and insufficient effectiveness of treatment leads to impotence and infertility. Against the background of long-term prostatitis, disorders develop in the neuroendocrine and immune systems of the body. Long-term chronic prostatitis can also lead to pathospermia.

Indications for electropulse therapy: chronic prostatitis in the stage of incomplete and complete remission; chronic prostatitis complicated by impotence; chronic prostatitis complicated by infertility.

Contraindications to electrical pulse therapy, general (p. 10), as well as exacerbation of chronic prostatitis, prostate adenoma, benign and malignant neoplasms of the genital organs and rectum.

Treatment method (Fig. 2)

The effects are carried out on 3 pairs of fields: 1-2 fields in the area of projection of the adrenal glands, II - 2 paravertebral fields in the sacral zone at the level SI - S5, III - a cavity rectal disposable electrode is inserted into the rectum, another ordinary cutaneous electrode is fixed in the suprapubic region. The channels of the device are connected to the indicated pairs of fields accordingly: to the 1st pair - 1 channel, to the 2nd pair - II channel, to the 3rd pair - III channel and IV channel.

Rice. 2. Electropulse therapy for chronic prostatitis

The operating mode of the channels is mixed-ring. Channels I-II operate in the “drift” mode with a ring method of current migration through the channels. The current migration period of 16-32 seconds gradually increases during the course of treatment. Channel IV operates in the “fixed frequencies” mode with a constant frequency of 100-120 Hz for chronic prostatitis in incomplete remission, and in the “drift” mode in complete remission of the disease. The duration of the procedure is gradually increased from 10-15 minutes to 20 minutes. Considering the equivalence of field pairs in channels I and II, it is recommended to change the cathodic and anodic phases of the pulses for half the procedure time.

If an exacerbation of the inflammatory process occurs after the first procedures, all dosage parameters should be reduced.

Up to 12-14 procedures are prescribed per course of treatment, carried out daily or every other day.

It is advisable to repeat courses of treatment after 1.5 -2 months.

Impotence treatment method

Impotence belongs to the group of sexual disorders. Violation of copulative function (inability to perform sexual intercourse) can be neurogenic, endocrine, vascular in nature, as well as due to mechanical obstacles. The neurogenic form of impotence is divided into cortical, spinal and neuroreceptor. Cortical impotence is associated with functional or organic diseases of the brain. The most common causes of spinal impotence are sexual excesses, interrupted or prolonged sexual intercourse, unsatisfied sexual arousal, and masturbation. Neuroreceptor impotence is associated with inflammatory diseases of the prostate gland and seminal tubercle, as well as prostate atony. The endocrine form of impotence is associated with dysfunction of the testicles. The main role in the vascular form of impotence is played by damage to the branches of the internal pudendal artery during atherosclerosis, arteritis, and sometimes when the pelvic arteries are damaged by the atherosclerotic process.

INDICATIONS for electrical pulse stimulation: impotence of the neurogenic (spinal and neuroreceptor) form,

impotence of the endocrine form, prostatitis with impaired reproductive function (infertility), prostate atony.

CONTRAINDICATIONS, general (p. 10), exacerbation of chronic prostatitis, prostate adenoma, polyp (polyposis) of the rectum (intestines), suspicion of malignant as well as benign diseases of the genital organs and intestines.

ELECTROSTIMULATION METHOD (Fig. 3).

Impacts are carried out on 4 pairs of fields; I- 2 electrodes in the area of the medial (inner) surface of the right thigh; II - 2 electrodes in the area

medial surface of the left thigh; III -2 electrodes in the area of the adrenal glands; IV - a cavity rectal disposable electrode is inserted into the rectum (it can be moistened with a medicinal solution, see page 20), another conventional electrode is placed in the sacrum area (SI - S5).

Rice. 3. Electropulse stimulation for impotence.

The operating mode of the channels is mixed-group. Channels I-III operate in the “drift” mode with a group method of current migration through the channels. The period of current migration from 16 to 32 seconds gradually increases during the course of treatment. Channel IV operates in “fixed frequencies” mode with a constant frequency of 20 - 40 Hz. The strength of the current until you feel first (in the first procedures) a moderate, and then a strong but painless vibration (until you feel a muscle contraction). The duration of the procedure gradually increases from 10 to 20 (25) minutes. A course of electrical stimulation consists of 10-15 procedures performed daily or every other day.

It is advisable to repeat electrical stimulation courses 2-4 times a year. If chronic prostatitis worsens during a course of electrical stimulation, you should switch to the electropulse therapy technique recommended for the treatment of prostatitis (see above).

If the patient experiences discomfort during treatment, it is recommended to reduce all dosage parameters or the intensity (current strength) of the effects.

In the absence of a cavity rectal electrode, you can use a conventional small-sized cutaneous electrode and place it in the perineal area.

Methodology for using SMT in the postoperative period
after liposuction and abdominoplasty operations
. .

After the operation, serious disturbances of microhemo and lymph circulation are identified the very next day by the occurrence of significant edema, tissue hypoxia, and accumulation of under-oxidized metabolic products. The use of SMT in the early postoperative period has a resolving effect, washing away tissue decay products. The use of SMT is especially effective in patients with a tendency to form extensive infiltrates. The exposure is carried out on the 3rd day after surgery. After even a single exposure, the general condition clearly improves, pain and swelling decrease. Electrodes of the 1st procedural field are located paravertebrally on area 4 behind the area of the abdominal wall.

To enhance the impact at the site of the most pronounced compactions, the impact of two channels was carried out simultaneously. Straightened mode, type of impact 6, type of work - 2, modulation frequency - 80-100 Hz, with severe swelling -150 Hz, modulation depth -75-100%. The operating period of the channels is 8-16 s. Current strength until a pronounced vibration is felt. Course - 5-7 daily procedures. The duration of the procedure increases during treatment from 10 to 20 minutes.

Application of the device "Amplipuls-7"
in electropuncture mode

The use of the device in electropuncture mode significantly expands the possibilities of therapeutic use of sinusoidal modulated currents. To influence the BAP, 5 types of work are used in alternating and straightened mode. In the straightened mode, it is possible to carry out iontophoresis of drugs, observing the polarity of the electrodes.

When applying the stimulating method of influencing BAP, a negative electrode is used, which has a pronounced irritating and absorbable effect.

When applying the inhibitory method of influencing BAP, a positive polarity electrode is used, which has a calming, analgesic, and anti-inflammatory effect.

The impact on BAP in alternating mode depends on the frequency and depth of modulation, the ratio of the duration of current bursts and pauses, and the current strength. The strength of the current depends on the area where the BAS is located. When exposed to the area of the back and lower extremities, the current strength ranges from 200 to 250 µA; on the gluteal region, exposure to a current of up to 400 µA is permissible.

During the procedure, the patient should feel a feeling of tingling, slight distension, vibration, and possibly a sensation of warmth. The sensation should be pleasant and painless.

  • In case of an overdose, it is accompanied by pain at the point, complications such as burns in the area of exposure and a sharp exacerbation of the disease are possible. When treating chronic diseases in remission, the current strength should be minimal, until the patient’s subjective sensations are weak.

The time of exposure to one BAP in the electropuncture mode is from 1 to 5 minutes. It is recommended to use 5-6 points in one procedure. During the procedure, the impact is carried out first on the points of the upper, then the lower part of the body, back and abdomen.

The use of electropuncture is effective in the treatment of spinal osteochondrosis with the presence of radicular syndrome. When pain predominates, the effect is carried out on the BAP of the distal limbs in places of greatest pain. Variable mode is used, type 2 operation, modulation frequency - 100 Hz, modulation depth - 100%. Current strength - until you feel a slight vibration, exposure time is from 2 to 5 minutes.

If motor functions are impaired, a modulation frequency of 30 Hz is used (other parameters are the same).

Appendix A

biting through the insulating coating.

At the end of the procedure, the electrode is removed by the sewn into the electrode
a thread.

THE ELECTRODE IS NOT REUSED!

Therapeutic techniques of amplipulse therapy and diadynamic therapy

From the book “Guide to Physiotherapy” Ponomarenko G.N., Vorobyov M.G.

The location of the electrodes and their sizes under the influence of SMT and DDT are the same for many treatment methods. However, during diadynamic therapy, current is applied in a constant direction, and in one localization, several types of current are often used, thereby increasing the intensity of the effect. In case of acute pain, a cathode is usually placed on this area and initially exposed to a DN current for 30-60 s, after which a CP current is applied for 2-3 minutes and the procedure is completed with a DP current for the same time. For very acute pain, exposure in the first 2 days is limited to DN current or DV current (full-wave wave) for 2-3 minutes. Amplipulse therapy is carried out, as a rule, with non-rectified alternating current and is applied for 3-5 minutes at III and IV PP. The duration of exposure to electric current for each type of work can be significantly increased as the pathological process (pain) subsides.

Diadynamic therapy (SMT therapy) of the trigeminal nerve

Small round electrodes on a hand holder are used. One of the electrodes (cathode) is installed at the exit site of one of the branches of the trigeminal nerve, the second - in the zone of pain irradiation. Apply DN current for 20-30 s, and then CP current for 1-2 min. Current strength - up to pronounced painless vibration; procedures are carried out daily; per course - 6 procedures. Type of current SMT - III RR 3-5 min + IV RR 3-5 min, modulation frequency 100-30 Hz, modulation depth 25-75%, mode I, duration of current bursts in a period of 2-4 s. The total duration of exposure for one localization is 6-8 minutes. Current strength - until pronounced painless vibration appears; procedures are carried out daily or every other day; per course - 8-10 procedures. For pain in the area of all three branches of the trigeminal nerve, one electrode in the form of a half-mask is placed on the diseased half of the face, and the other, measuring 15x20 cm, is placed in the interscapular area. The exposure parameters are the same as indicated for one branch of the trigeminal nerve.

Rice. Scheme of exposure to diadynamic currents: a - with damage to the branches of the trigeminal nerve; b - to the area of the upper cervical sympathetic node; c - with atherosclerosis of cerebral vessels

Diadynamic therapy (SMT therapy) of the area of the superior cervical sympathetic node

With the patient lying on his side, small round electrodes on a hand holder are applied. The cathode is installed 2 cm behind the angle of the lower jaw in the area of the upper cervical sympathetic ganglion, the anode is 2 cm above (Fig. 2.37, b). The electrodes are placed perpendicular to the surface of the neck. Apply DN current for 3 minutes. The current strength is up to the sensation of pronounced vibration. The impact is carried out from both sides. Course - 4-6 procedures, daily. SMT: I PP 2-4 min, mode I, modulation frequency 50-100 Hz, modulation depth 25-50%, 2-3 s bursts, daily, course 10-12 procedures.

Diadynamic therapy of the temporal region(according to V.V. Sinitsin).

Small double electrodes are used on a hand holder, which are placed in the temporal region (at the level of the eyebrow) so that the temporal artery is in the interelectrode space. CP is prescribed when it is strong enough to cause a sensation of periodic vibration or flickering in the eye on the affected side. The duration of the first procedures is 1-2 minutes, followed by a change in polarity for 1 minute. Then the CP current is also applied for 2-3 minutes, followed by a change in polarity for 2 minutes. The procedures are carried out with the patient lying on his side, acting alternately on one and the other temporal arteries during one procedure; procedures are carried out daily or every other day; course - 10-12 procedures. If necessary, a second course of treatment is carried out after 3-4 weeks.

Diadynamic therapy (SMT therapy) of the shoulder joint

Plate electrodes measuring 10x15 cm are placed transversely on the front and back surfaces of the joint (the cathode is at the site of pain projection). 3 types of currents are used: DV (or DN) - 2-3 min, CP - 2-3 min, DP - 3 min. In case of pain under both electrodes, the polarity is reversed in the middle of exposure to each type of current. Current strength - up to pronounced painless vibration; procedures are carried out daily or every other day; course - 8-10 procedures. Media: III and IV RR for 5 minutes each, modulation frequency 30-100 Hz, depth 25-75%, variable mode, bursts of 2-4 s, daily, course of 10-12 procedures.

Diadynamic therapy (SMT therapy) of the ankle joint

In most cases, physiotherapy is an auxiliary method of treating a particular disease. However, in the initial stages of the disease, this method can be used as an independent method. Also, physiological procedures are an excellent prevention of a large number of pathologies.

  • Is it possible to do CMT physical therapy at home?

These procedures help activate the body's reserve capabilities, improve the immune system, shorten the duration of treatment and activate important biochemical processes, as a result of which inflammation and wounds heal quickly. And SMT physiotherapy is one of the techniques based on the work of sinusoidal modulated currents.

What is SMT physical therapy?

SMT stands for Sinusoidal Modulated Currents. This therapy involves treatment with amplipulsterapy. The SMT procedure is an effect on the patient’s body through an electric current that is generated through a special device.

The device for carrying out the SMT procedure is a rather complex device that includes the following components:

  • current generator;
  • remote control;
  • electrodes that transmit impulses to the patient's body.

The most popular devices for carrying out the procedure in institutions are the following:

  • "Circuit";
  • "Amplipulse-5";
  • "Amplipulse-7".

Also, many other European-made devices are used for physiotherapy.

The operating principle is as follows:

  • sinusoidal current directly affects nerve endings;
  • the impact occurs with a given frequency and in a certain rhythm;
  • The key purpose of such procedures is to alleviate the condition and relieve pain.

Compared to the hardware treatment method using dynamic current, SMT procedures have a gentle effect; such physiotherapy has virtually no contraindications. Amplipulse therapy can be used to treat neurological diseases that occur against the background of cardiac dysfunction. Such procedures promote deep penetration into the structures of the body, this stimulates skeletal muscles, as well as large blood vessels and smooth muscles of internal organs.

Results of physiotherapy through SMT

After the SMT procedure, the results may be as follows:

Physical therapy through SMT is best done in a clinical setting under the guidance of a physician. It is necessary to take into account the human anatomy, know all the details of the disease (nature and stage), so that the electrodes can be placed in a particular area. The procedure will be effective only with repeated course use.

Indications for the use of SMT physiotherapy

The scope of application of SMT is very wide:

  • neuralgia, neuropathy, plexitis, radiculitis, neuromyositis and other diseases of the peripheral nervous system;
  • diseases and injuries of the musculoskeletal system and joints, such as deforming arthrosis and rheumatoid arthritis, periarthritis, ankylosing spondylosis, spondylosis, osteochondrosis, bruises, fractures, muscle atrophy;
  • pneumonia, bronchitis and bronchial asthma;
  • diseases of the gastrointestinal tract (gastric ulcer, duodenal ulcer, indigestion, constipation, biliary dyskinesia, gastritis);
  • urological diseases - impotence, enuresis, prostatitis, cystitis and much more;
  • heart diseases - hypertension, migraines, atherosclerosis and much more;
  • dystrophic and inflammatory eye diseases;
  • ENT diseases;
  • diseases of the nervous system.

Physiotherapy for SMT in gynecology

Quite often, physiotherapy relieves long-standing illnesses that are not amenable to traditional methods of treatment. SMT is used for chronic inflammation that lasts more than 5 years. SMT procedures in the rectified mode are practiced for zinc electrophoresis. The electrophoresis procedure using SMT currents is combined with salicylate, novocaine and magnesium when inflammation is combined with endometriosis.

How is the SMT procedure performed?

The procedure for exposing the patient to sinusoidal currents is carried out without special preparation. It is carried out in a lying position, less often in a standing or sitting position. Current is supplied to the body through electrodes, and hydrophilic pads are also used. They are fixed with weights and elastic bandages. The best effect can be achieved by relaxing the muscles.

The size of the electrodes should preferably match the area of the impact zone. You can practice intracavitary use - these are sterilized electrodes that are washed off with Vaseline and introduced into the body.

Devices for SMT physiotherapy are equipped with several operating modes. They differ in current exposure time and frequency. The principle of operation of the device is to alternate pulses and pauses. The patient does not experience any discomfort during the procedure; slight tingling and vibration are allowed in the area of treatment.

The peculiarity of the procedure is as follows:

  • one session lasts from 10 minutes to an hour;
  • procedures are carried out every day for 7-10 days;
  • if necessary, the course of physiotherapy is repeated every other week;
  • physiotherapy can be combined with magnetotherapy, ultrasound and mud therapy;
  • SMT procedures are also combined with physical therapy, acupuncture, and professional massage.

Is it possible to do CMT physical therapy at home?

Devices for carrying out SMT procedures can be used not only in special rooms, but also in regular hospitals and at home. Moreover, such devices are small in size. In particular, the Amplipulse-6 device is used to treat the following diseases:

  • myocardial infarction;
  • coronary heart disease of severe stages;
  • stroke;
  • impairment of motor functions after various types of injuries.

SMT has virtually no side effects. An allergic reaction may occur due to intolerance to electric current.

SMT physiotherapy has many advantages compared to other treatment methods. It is used according to indications, taking into account the characteristics and stage of the disease, the patient’s age and other factors.

The SMT procedure cannot be prescribed in the following cases:

The procedure is prescribed with extreme caution in case of epilepsy and other nervous diseases, as well as in the presence of a pacemaker and other devices on the body.

SMT therapy is carried out taking into account safety precautions in specially equipped rooms.

Physiotherapeutic procedures have been showing and once again confirming their effectiveness. One of them is amplipulse therapy. What Amplipulse is and what effect it has on the body is known mainly by those who have already experienced this method of treatment.

What it is?

Amplipulse is a procedure performed using a device with the same name. This treatment method was first used back in 1963. And although there were enough skeptics who were against treatment with sinusoidal modulated currents, the device proved its effectiveness.

All technology keeps up with the times, medicine is no exception, and over several decades this device has been subject to changes and improvements. And if at first this device was used only in the treatment of osteochondrosis, now its effectiveness has increased, and it is able to have a beneficial effect on other organs of the human body.

A device such as “Amplipulse 4” is capable of treating diseases of the peripheral nervous system, autonomic and motor disorders, problems with peripheral circulation, disorders and injuries affecting the musculo-ligamentous system.

When can the procedure be performed?

In order to begin direct treatment, the patient first needs to contact a doctor who will prescribe or give permission for this. It should be remembered that this device is not omnipotent and it helps in treating only a number of diseases; in addition, it is important to know that it can only be effective in certain stages or forms of a particular disease.

It can be used in such cases if you are treating:

In addition, the device is sometimes used in the treatment of female diseases that affect the genital organs.

Indications for treatment in this way will be if you have injuries to the joints or spine. There are indications for the treatment of neuritis and some eye problems.

There may also be indications for treatment in this way if the patient needs to restore muscle function after a long period of immobility or a previous operation.

Not everyone knows, but amplipulse therapy has the advantage of helping to reduce weight. The effect of current on a cell leads to its reduction, and unlike medications, which have a number of side effects, current does not cause any harm.

When is it better to refuse this type of treatment?

Amplipulse therapy not only sometimes may not bring the desired results, but sometimes it is strictly prohibited. Therefore, before you have an irresistible desire to carry out treatment in a similar way, it is necessary to take into account not only the indications, but also the contraindications.

As is known, diseases of the spine, such as osteochondrosis, are usually treated with amplipulse therapy, but there may be contraindications in this case. Such treatment is prohibited if the patient suffers from problems of the cardiovascular system. In addition, contraindications include the presence of high temperature. It will not have the desired effect; amplipulse therapy is prohibited for muscle ruptures and bone fractures.

There are also contraindications that are strictly prohibited from violating:

  • tuberculosis;
  • thrombophlebitis;
  • hypertension of ІІІ and ІІІ degrees;
  • sinus bradycardia;
  • malignant tumors;
  • open or purulent wounds;
  • at a temperature;
  • arrhythmia;
  • angina pectoris;
  • presence of a pacemaker;
  • varicose veins

Under no circumstances should this type of treatment be combined with alcohol consumption. There will be contraindications for people who are extremely sensitive to current. Pregnant and lactating women have their own specific indications and contraindications.

Amplipulse therapy for osteochondrosis

Problems in the spine, and osteochondrosis itself always has its own characteristics. Since physiotherapy helps with spinal hernia and osteochondrosis, the treatment lasts quite a long time and has several stages.

Both with osteochondrosis and with a herniated spine, the first step is to relieve the pain, because without this it is almost impossible to continue treatment. Physiotherapy copes well with this task with osteochondrosis and a herniated spine. In addition, techniques like amplipulse therapy help stimulate blood flow and nourish cartilage tissue.

For osteochondrosis or its consequence (spinal hernia), this procedure gives the following results:

  • reduces swelling;
  • there is an increase in cell neurostimulation;
  • blood vessels dilate;
  • similar techniques provide an analgesic effect;
  • The patient's motor center is reactivated.

How is the treatment carried out?

If you have received permission to carry out this procedure, and you have no contraindications, then you can begin the actual treatment process. This may be the treatment of both the spine and the nervous system or other diseases.

Special electrodes, which are shaped like a rectangle, are applied to the area that needs physiotherapy. After this, they are fixed on the body. After turning on the device, the patient will feel a feeling that is similar to vibration.

This procedure can also be performed at home, but only if your doctor agrees with it. During treatment, about 10-15 procedures are performed depending on the disease. The duration of one procedure can be up to an hour, but usually it is 20-40 minutes.

This treatment is perfect for people with a low pain threshold, as the procedure is completely painless.

Safety regulations

When using Amplipulse at home, you should remember safety precautions. To do this, it is necessary to correctly place and fix the electrodes on the body. The electrodes on the body can be moved only after the current has been reduced to zero. It is necessary to check the reliability of the device connection and the integrity of the power cord, and you should not troubleshoot problems when the device is connected to the power supply. In addition, the instructions prohibit connecting the equipment to the network with the housing removed.

Amplipulse therapy is a method of treatment with sinusoidal modulated currents (SMC).

To obtain these currents, domestic devices “Amplipulse-4”, “Amplipulse-5”, “Amplipulse-6” are used. There are no analogues to these devices abroad.

SMT is an alternating sinusoidal current with a frequency of 5000 Hz (carrier frequency), amplitude modulated by low frequencies (10-150 Hz). Modulation consists of periodically, 10-150 times per second, increasing and decreasing the amplitude of oscillations of the carrier frequency current. It is the amplitude pulsations that ensure the high biological activity of this physical factor and reduce the addiction of body tissues to it.

The design of the Amplipulse devices makes it possible to create five different combinations of modulations (types of work) by varying their frequency, changing the duration of a series of pulses and pauses between them, the depth of modulations and the operating mode. The device operates in 3 modes:

    Variable - IP

    constant (or straightened). - IIP

    Change of polarity - IIIP, this mode is used for the administration of drugs.

Graphic representation of sinusoidal modulated currents generated by devices of the “Amplipule” type: a-e - alternating mode:

a- unmodulated oscillations (carrier frequency); b-f - I-V type of work;

w-m - the same currents in constant (rectified) mode; n - different modulation depths.

The therapeutic effect of SMT is due to their stimulating effect on receptors, sensory nerves, muscle fibers, and proprioceptors.

The ability of SMT, without irritating superficial tissues, to cause motor excitation of deeply located muscles is used when stimulating paretic muscles.

Under the influence of these currents, regional blood circulation is activated according to the segmental type - in the organs belonging to the metamere of the body in the zone of which the effect is carried out. Sinusoidal modulated currents have an analgesic effect.

Depending on the location and parameters of the effect of SMT, the physiological reaction of the body can be general or local.

SMT can be used from three months of age. The features of the procedures for children are the same as for galvanization and diadynamic therapy. The following dosimetry recommendations are adhered to: current strength for children under one year old - 6-8 mA, from 1 to 7 years old - 10-15 mA, over 7 years old - 20-25 mA.

Based on clinical and functional studies by V. G. Yasnogorodsky, T. V. Karachevtseva, ChI. V. Rumyantseva-Russkikh has developed methods for treating patients with cerebral palsy with pulsed currents from Amplipulse devices, depending on the form of the disease and the nature of muscle damage. (Table 3)

Description of one of the methods from Table 3. In case of spastic diplegia, spastic hemiplegia, double hemiplegia, sequential effects of SMT in one procedure on the segmental zone and weakened muscles are recommended. Electrodes measuring 3-5 x 7-10 cm are placed paravertebrally at the level of C2-Th2 or Th10-L1, variable mode is used, III RR, modulation frequency 30 Hz, modulation depth 100%, duration of send-pauses 2-3 s, current strength within 2-3 minutes increase until a slight vibration is felt. The current strength can range from 3 to 8 mA.

(on the legs - long peroneal muscle, external head of the quadriceps femoris, gluteus maximus and medius, etc., on the arms - extensor digitorum communis, extensor carpi radialis, etc.) is carried out according to the following method. A round electrode with a diameter of 1-1.5 (up to 2) cm is placed on the motor point of the muscle, a second electrode measuring 3-5 4-7 cm (for small children measuring 1.5 4-5 cm) is placed in the area of its attachment.

For electrical stimulation, III RR SMT is used at a frequency of 30 Hz, modulation depth 100%, duration of bursts-pauses 2-3 s. The current strength is gradually increased to the minimum value at which a barely noticeable muscle contraction appears. The current strength is 7-12 mA. The duration of the procedure for preschool children is 5 minutes, for school children - 6 minutes. In children under two years of age, the current strength and duration of the procedure should be less, and the course of treatment should be shorter. After the procedure, rest for 1-2 hours is necessary. The procedures are carried out daily, 6 treatments in total, after a break of 6 days the course of treatment is repeated.

Method of SMT of cervical sympathetic nodes according to Babchik Yu.I. in order to improve the function of articulatory muscles.: a bifurcated electrode is placed on the cervical sympathetic nodes - another electrode on the cervical spine, mode 1, type of work 1, frequency 80 Hz, 2 minutes each, modulation depth 75%, current strength for children under 7 years old 2 -3 mA, children 7 -14 years old 4-5 mA, then type of work 4, frequency 80 Hz, duration of sendings 2 -2s, 4 minutes, course No. 10.

SMT technique stimulation of facial muscles for dyslalia, dysphonia (labial, chewing, phonation, lingual) – a bifurcated electrode is placed on the muscle area, a second bifurcated electrode is placed paravertebrally on the cervical region C1-C3, type of work 3 for 5-6 minutes, then type of work 2 for 5-6 minutes, current strength 3 -5 minutes depending on age., frequency 50 -100 Hz, modulation depth 50-75%, daily or every other day, course No. 10.

SMT electrophoresis is also used for the electrophoresis of certain medicinal substances. Some advantages of SMT electrophoresis over direct current electrophoresis have been noted: the vasodilating and analgesic effects of certain medicinal substances are potentiated, they penetrate deeper into the tissue.

SMT electrophoresis of muscle relaxants: in the area of the lower cervical or lower thoracic-upper lumbar spine, apply sequentially III and IV RR in a constant mode.

SMT electrophoresis of nootropil (piracetam) from a positive bifurcated electrode located in the area of the cervical sympathetic nodes. The negative electrode is placed in the Th1-Th3 area.

In spastic forms of cerebral palsy, SMT electrophoresis of a 2% novocaine solution is prescribed to the area of projection of the cervical sympathetic nodes. For patients with a hyperkinetic form of cerebral palsy, SMT electrophoresis of a 1% solution of tropacin is recommended according to the Kellat-Zmanovsky method in order to influence the articulatory muscles. A bifurcated electrode (anode) is placed on the cervico-facial region on both sides, the second electrode (cathode) is placed on the lower cervical or upper thoracic spine.
