Having previously analyzed the composition/calorie content of dishes at KFC, we knew what we would order: 3 “original strips” , wedgie salad, boiled corn and Americano. Such a quick lunch cost us 330 rubles.

“Strips” – meat and biomass of chicken origin, generously breaded with spices. There are spicy and classic options. 3 small pieces contain 243 calories, a whopping 21 grams of protein, 13 grams of fat and 11.5 grams of carbohydrates.

But breading, like any fat-containing product, has a very positive effect on the taste.

The name of the Wedgie salad fully corresponds to its contents: inexpensive tomatoes, lettuce leaves, and the good old root vegetable carrots. Frankly, the salad could be tasty without dressing if you buy more expensive and tastier ingredients. There is quite a lot of salad in the bucket itself - as much as 200 grams, which accounts for only 56 calories, 2 grams of protein, 2.5 of fat and 5.4 of carbohydrates.

As a dressing for the salad, they serve a small high-calorie grenade with the inscription “Balsamic”, the cloudy brownish contents of which, apart from the name, have nothing to do with balsamic (as balsamic vinegar is usually called).

The label on the back showed that this 50-gram bag alone contained almost 200 calories and a whopping 20 grams of fat. There is approximately the same amount of fat in the same McDonald's Big Mac, but at least it comes with proteins.

Fat makes food tastier, especially noticeable if the food itself is so-so.
In the case of the “Vedgie” salad, in the opinion of “Zozhnik”, there is a clear deception of the buyer: an unsuspecting well-fed person on a diet takes what she thinks is a “healthy” salad (about 50 calories) and without hesitation slams in the default dressing (almost 200 calories, almost all from fat). The result is a rather high-calorie, not particularly healthy and not very tasty (because it’s kind of “healthy”) dish.

The most honest dish at KFC is boiled corn, or rather half an ear of corn for 49 rubles. They couldn't add breading to it and didn't include any dressing. Half a cob promises 104 calories, almost 2 grams of protein, 4 grams of fat and about 15 grams of carbohydrates.

By the way, the apparent cheapness of fast food is based on trifles, and they clearly did a good job with pricing: we, for example, could not remember when we paid almost 100 rubles for an ear of boiled corn, but 49 for half an ear seems to us to be quite an adequate price.
If all this is topped with Americano without sugar (89 rubles), then the total calorie content of this rather mediocre-tasting lunch will be about 400 calories without balsamic and about 600 with salad dressing.

Unfortunately, the rest of the food options at KFC look even worse in terms of proteins, fats, carbohydrates and calories.
